I love how friendly and accommodating servers are when you visit. They have a great variety of music, sometimes live, as well as awesome decor that make you feel fancy and grungy and overall special to be in the space. For a place that has over an hour of wait time to be seated, and has been recommended by Guy Fieri, I expected more. We actually grabbed a snack from home, ate there, and played a board game outside the restaurant (that we brought with us) before we were seated because of how long the quoted wait time was. The best thing we ate was the complimentary bread and hot tom; this set the expectation, and the entrees failed to meet it. Both the fried zucchini lasagna and the duck bacon flatbread pizza fell short. While the taste of both was great, the texture was what got in the way of eating more of it; we were sad to be leaving with most of our entrees because it meant that we would have to eat them later. The lasagna has very indistinct layering, and the flatbread was quite thick and chewy in terms of the crust as well as the amount of cheese on top. If you love cheese no matter the texture and amount, you might like these two dishes. Given how busy the restaurant is, there is a lot of chatter throughout from various people, and it seems like service struggles because of this. The service was okay at best, but understandable given how populated the restaurant was on a Friday night. I would likely not return to eat here, unless someone asked me personally to go. read more

The food and the service is alwaaaaays The only draw back is the long wait for a table or the long delay to make a reservation 2-3 weeks booked out online. I went 1/29/24 and was pleasantly surprised to not have to wait for a table. They had happy hour specials half off drinks $6 each. I got a spicy pineapple margarita and it was so delicious I also ordered the chicken parm (baby chicken parm) the regular chicken parm is double the amount of food and 2 whole chicken breasts. Their pasta is always al dente n freshly made. My favorite is the house bread n the spicy tomato dip sauce. It did look very neon red which I found kind of weird, but it could just be the lighting was "off." The atmosphere is nice. They have votive candles at the table and play awesome music. Pastabilities is an awesome pasta place right in the downtown of Syracuse. Disclaimer, you will need to make a reservation by calling ahead or stopping by the restaurant. I went by at 4pm on a weekend and they put me on the waitlist for 2-2.5 hours - we went home to wait, and we were seated at 6:30. But also disclaimer, it's definitely worth it. The restaurant itself is very popular with a full and active bar. It's modern yet casual inside, and they had very cute holiday decorations! Every table gets a basket of fresh bread with their signature tomato and hot oil dipping sauce which is to die for. (You can actually buy a jar to go!) The menu is full of tons of yummy customizable pastas and other Italian entrees. I ordered the spicy chicken riggies ($22) - a spicy creamy tomato sauce with rigatoni and grilled chicken. The portion was huge - I actually ate the second half for lunch the next day. The sauce was rich and tasty, the pasta was delicious and al dente. My friends got the bolognese and the lasagna and spoke highly of them. I'll definitely be back here when I'm in Syracuse again! read more

I work around the corner and I was craving some pasta and a beer. So I stopped in the bar, and the bartender was super personable and knowledgeable. Grabbed an Italian Pilsner and on the menu I saw the duck bacon flatbread. The bartender talked it up and boy was he right! Even though I was thinking pasta and it's what brought me in, I always branched out when I see different proteins on a menu from the norms of just the standard four - poultry, beef, pork, fish. The flavor melded together so perfectly. The cheese with the Smokey flavor of the duck bacon, the fruit and fennel just pulled it all together. Whatever pan they fried it in, gives it more of a pizza crisp and crunch than a flatbread. I was told they only prep so many a day, if you're looking to try something different and elevated for the Syracuse area, this is it. read more

Was in Syracuse for a college visit and did some research on where to go. Found that this place was on DDD so I thought we would give it a try. We were driving in from MA so with about 1.5 hours left in the drive I had my wife check out the menu and she found that you could put your name on the waitlist, so she did. Best move ever. By the time we arrived at the restaurant our table was ready. We sat down right away at a table right near the open kitchen. The entire staff was great. We talked to staff while they waited for orders to come up. Anyone that walked by filled our waters and asked if we needed anything. We ordered a couple of drinks, summer sangria was very refreshing and a Miami vice, which my wife thought was too strong, like that's a thing. Our meal came with complimentary spicy hot tomato oil and stretch bread. This is the greatest stuff ever. They give you a huge amount of bread and the tomato oil is so damn good you can't stop eating it. We also ordered the calamari and it was delicious, the coating on the calamari was perfect, a little peppery for my wife but she still ate a bunch of it. For dinner I had the shrimp and scallop scampi with house made pasta. It was so good. My wife and son split two entrees, chicken parm and chicken Alfredo. The chicken parm was really good, they both loved it. They both liked the Alfredo but thought the chicken parm was better. If you have not tried this place, you have to! They make their own fresh pasta and offer free bread and tomato oil to start, both of which are delicious. I got the whicky whicky chicken riggies with Campanella so I could get the fresh pasta option. It was very spicy and delicious. Server was very attentive and friendly. The only so limited reservations. A month out they had 4, 4:15 and 8 and 8:15. We arrived at 3:50 to a huge line waiting for them to open at 4 pm. We were told this is normal. We got rerouted from Buffalo airport to Syracuse en route home and I found this place on Yelp, wanting to avoid airport food at all costs. The food was excellent and the service was also A+. I called and placed an order right when they opened and mentioned that I was flying out and needed my order quickly. They had it ready in 15 minutes and everything was delicious. My kids gobbled up their whole wheat fettuccini with Olive oil and cheese; the wife enjoyed her walnut pesto pasta, and my hot vodka was the perfect mix of spice and cream. I would say that the cheesy bread was just pretty good, but not an essential order as their regular bread is probably all we needed and just as good. The homemade chocolate chip cookies were a great finishing touch. It is a little pricey as with tip it was about $100. But I am happy to pay a little more for quality food and quality service. I want to start by saying that my family I have been coming to Pastabilities for years. It's our spot for special occasions. I am sad to say that our recent visit on 8/28/25 was our first negative experience in 20 years. I'm not sure if management has changed or it was off night for them, but it left us scratching our heads. We put our names on the waitlist and waited for over an hour, which we were OK with. However, after we put our orders in, we waited a solid hour to get the food, which is unusual. I asked the server who brought the plates (not the same person who took our order) if something was wrong to which he said everything was fine and they just came off the line. We immediately noticed 3 of the 4 meals were cold to the touch. After we informed him, he frantically removed all the plates stacking them on top of each other in front of us. He seemed flustered, something was off. I'm not sure if our original server initially forgot to take us our food and this person stepped in, but the vibe was strange. The fourth plate was hot so we kept it, however that pasta ended up being a gummy ball. We assumed that that dish had been reheated in some way, but we don't know. We let that go. Once we received our new plates, they were hot. However, within 5 minutes of receiving them, our original server (who we had not seen since initially ordering) asked us if we were "still workin' on them". We were frusterated. Meanwhile, the restaurant had emptied out and we were the only ones in the dining room. We even waited about 20 minutes for the server to take our credit card after she left the bill. We spent almost 4 hours in the restaurant. Something was defintely off on this night. But at the very least a visit from a manager or an apology or any acknowledgement at all when paying the bill would have gone a long way. We were baffled and still are! read more

Stopped into Pasta's at 8:00 on a Tuesday night. Place was filled as per usual, you won't be able to find a night where the place is dead- and for good reason. I sat at the bar, where full food service is available. I ordered a mango rum punch to drink, which was delicious. I've never had a bad cocktail here. To start off the meal each guest receives a house appetizer, spicy hot tomato oil and fresh stretch bread. Always classic, the tomato oil is addicting but the stretch bread is the real star- it's baked fresh every day directly across the street. I also ordered calamari to start. A generous portion and nicely fried. Even better when dipped into their 50/50 sauce. For my entree I decided on linguini (made in house) in spicy hot tomato oil. The sauce is obviously delicious as stated before, but the pasta is just as good. Cooked to a nice al dente, you won't be disappointed. The bartender was very nice and attentive, really great service. My bill came to 46 and change. Not bad for a cocktail, appetizer, and entree (especially since it was all so good!) tonight was my first time eating at the restaurant. I have been to the bakery many times for many years, all good and wonderful there, keep it up. Not too thrilled with the food. for a drink, a black cherry Saranac bottle was not cold just room temperature. Sonoma Caesar salad same, not very cool and it was a struggle to taste any 'Caesar' in it, mainly white lettuce, weak. Alfredo rigatoni pasta just warm, very runny like melted butter, worst of all the blackened chicken had a bitter taste like a medicine bitter and under cooked, I had them toss it. I felt like I gave them 50 bucks for half room temp lettuce and some runny noodles and a soda. Would you come back? The atmosphere of the restaurant was dark and moody with different pockets of dining rooms lit by various orangey-red light fixtures. The service was very good and our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. The hot tomato oil starter they're known for lives up to its praise. However, the bread it came with could have been better quality and warmer. For my main course, I got the Spicy Bolognese with rigatoni and a side salad. It was okay, but left me a bit disappointed. The sauce didn't have much flavor and I found myself salting it a lot. It was also not spicy. My mother got the Braised Short Rib Stroganoff. It's definitely a heavier dish with its cream sauce, but the meat was notably delicious along with the mushrooms. Overall, it's a good restaurant, but overhyped.
