This place is amazing. Went there for the first time yesterday as my doctor said they were one of only two places in the city capable of making up compounds reliably. The store is a gem with an incredible array of lotions, shaving supplies, soaps, shampoos, etc. Counter staff very friendly and helpful. Beyond Expectation!! Really, this place is awesome! Long story on why, but I needed to make my first ever DE razor purchase. This wan't something I wanted to buy online as with no experience I wanted to feel the weight and check out different handle lengths. Originally, it looked like my only option was The Art of Shaving but they seemed to have a lacking selection and huge markup. Found this place through Yelp and am SOOO happy I took a shot and went to visit. Leon helped me with selection as I'm a complete noob. Took a ton of time to make sure I totally understood the options (good time for a side note - absolutely insane selection available). My husband and I have been using Pasteur for over 20 years + for our prescriptions and over the counter items. This is the most caring and pleasant place to deal with. From the lady at the front of the stores cash register to the women who answer the phones and ring up your items at the back register, I only have positive things to say about all. Leon is a joy and pays attention to all your needs, has time to answer questions and is so helpful. The female pharmacist (sorry I forgot your name) called to ask me to let her know when a pill I take is running low because the last 2 times she had a hard time finding and ordering it. She wants me to try getting to her well before I'm ready for another refill so she will have it ready in stock for me. You don't find this care in Duanne Reade or any of the other mega-drug stores. The over the counter items are usually less than these mega stores and hard to fine items can be found at Pasteur. They will also happily order anything that they don't have in stock if available. The drugs I priced here for out-of-pocket purchase were significantly cheaper than the soulless proliferating chain stores nearby. The staff is efficient, lively and helpful. I like them very much as well as the store that they keep stocked floor to ceiling with everything you might possibly need, from Cafe Bustelo to batteries to fancy soap to smart small umbrellas. Considering the volume of inventory, the prices are very modest. This is an old-school NYC neighborhood store where every square inch is crammed with necessities, a vanishing breed amid the onslaught of Duane Reades. Stay clear from this pharmacy!! They are selling old, expired products.I live nearby and I always tried to buy my cosmetics in there in order to help this "small" business. Yesterday as I was buying my products, I overheard one lady asking for refund because the product she bought was far from what she is acquainted. These guys are a joke. Plenty of product but a pharmacist who would rather roll his eyes that fill a script. Couldn't be bothered to even look it, too busy prancing about and admiring his nails and when we grabbed script and our details back he got all huffed and proceeded to shout "Well have a good day then! " We walk past the shop all the time as it is near us and never miss the opportunity to tell people who may look like they are going to go in that they are making a mistake. A shave Mecca in NYC Hey gents, I wanted to share my experience of the most incredible place for classic shaving gear that I have ever seen. Pasteur Pharmacy on 53 east 34th street is the center of all things good and pure in the shaving world (maybe not all things but many of them). I returned a cream that my wife had bought me (that I asked her for) after realizing that I did not care for the smell at all. The woman returned it, and let me exchange when she did not have to. There was everything under the sun in this totally unassuming pharmacy. Almost every product from the three T's, D H Harris, Tabac, Floris, obscure italian soaps, wool fat soaps, Porasso and more. They had, most good blades for DE's like sharks, derby's, feathers, Astra's, gold gillettes etc, and even straight razors from Dovo (not shave ready of course) and safety's from Merkur. The place had Simpson brushes as well and even high quality strops. Almost any big house item you think they could have, they had. I was struck. I could have stayed in the store for days. I felt I was looking at every review board I've been reading for the last 10 days, trying to decide which soap to get. I got the floris it was only 40 dollars there instead of 50 on the internet. If you guys live in the NYC area or are visiting and want to see a store with it all, then drop by. On top of it all, I'm pretty sure the store is family owned. If you are interested in finding the best skin care, hair products and vitamins at the best price, this is the place to go. I'm not talking about any products. This is the best pharmacy around, I work in the area so Im in there often. They have everything you can want. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. The only thing that I noticed is the last few times I was in there with a co-worker this one girl in the pharmacy area was so LOUD. Things were fine when all of a sudden I hear this loud voice screaming out someone's name, at the top of her lungs. When I heard her I was looking at eye drops which is a good distance from where she was. I just had to see who this was, it was a girl with glasses filling prescriptions. Wow not professional at all.
