I went to Pastora for a bridesmaid dress a few years ago, a simple hem on the bottom, she said it would take a couple weeks. Had to go back and ask for my dress a month later (I thankfully went early to ensure it done) and she acted "put out"/annoyed that I was asking about it. Eventually got my easy dress back, forgot about it, UNTIL my best friend took her wedding dress to her over a month ago. She said again it would be about 2 weeks and then nothing for contact. BF called a month after dropping off, pastora was annoyed and said to come in to look because she had questions on the dress.. BF goes in and it's the wrong dress, she hadn't even started on the wedding dress! Then continued to be extremely rude and hostile about the discrepancy. The following Monday she says the dress is done.... She simply pinned up the front of the dress awfully, took her money and gave no room for improvement. Whoa! A request to do a simple hem on my drapes turned into something I never imagined. Not only did she cut the fabric and hem the wrong side but when I let her know she made an error she got angry with me. We talked about the possibility of redoing the work and it was pretty clear she doesn't know how to do quality work. The tension on the fabric was so tight it was pulling and the seam was crooked all the way down. In the end she kicked me out of her house which is her shop also and screamed she would call the police. Clearly she doesn't want anyone to critique her work or ask that she pay attention to detail. I would NOT recommend her to work on any garment or piece you really care about. read more

HORRIBLE WOMAN! Would give her a "ZERO" if I could! Had an appointment at 11:00, I get to Park Ave. in NC and I call her at 11:00 am wondering where she was located and she tells me she was in Auburn!?! No call or text from here, no respect for my time or the price of gas! When I come back at noon the same day, I asked her, if there was a dressing room? She tells me "NO ONE" has ever complained about that in twenty-six years, only me. So rude of her, it was just a question... So after marking the clothes I wanted to be altered she goes to write up an estimate and I ask her, "Do you have senior discounts?" She was noticeably pushed out of shape for me even asking. Then I asked her if there was a discount for not showing up for our appointment at 11:00 am? SHE STARTS YELLING AT ME! How rude of me for even asking, yadda, yadda, yadda....I asked her why are you yelling at me? It is just a question...THEN she tells me she doesn't want to alter my clothes and to GET OUT and to give me back my pins as she's removing them from my garments! If you want to be treated with the slightest bit of respect or kindness DO NOT GO TO THIS HORRIBLE WOMAN!!! read more

But, she's always been fair on the price and had done excellent work on everything we've brought her, from my wife's skirts, to curtains, to kimonos, to the cover we throw over the pool table. Found Pastora here on Yelp. Was a tiny bit nervous, given the situation that I had 6 days to get my bridesmaid dress altered. Pastora was very accommodating and had me over the morning after my call. That was on Friday. Today is the following Monday and my dress is done. My deadline was Wednesday. The dress has 3 layers in the skirt part and she got all 3 done perfectly. Pastora is an absolutely delightful human. I called (on a Sunday) with a bit of a "travel emergency." I needed two pairs of corduroy pants hemmed within the week. Pastora measured the items on Monday, and had them done by Tuesday. I also needed a fancy jumpsuit hemmed and a fleece vest mended. Pastora's work is flawless and impeccable. I recommend her without hesitation. (Note: Someone said the driveway is difficult. It is steep, but has been graded since that comment and there are no problems at all with the driveway. Unprofessional. Rude. I trusted her after she did a good job hemming a beautiful pair of pants. Took a silk gown into her to have turned into a skirt. Gave her the precise measurements that I wanted for the length.I now have a useless piece of beautiful vintage silk because she made it four inches too short. Not to mention the fact that the waist band stitching is completely uneven. When I call to express my sadness at the destruction of my silk, she practically yelled at me and insisted she could fix it by putting another piece of elastic in the top when really there's not even an inch left of fabric to work with. read more

I went to Pastoras to get my wedding dress altered. I was currently 5 months pregnant at the time and knew I was going to be 7 months pregnant by my wedding date. Finding a dress that would fit my growing belly was very challenging! I found a simple lace white dress from Asos and took it into Pastora's (call and make an appointment only.) She is very kind and altered my dress within a weeks time! Her prices are very fair as well. She brought up the waistline so that my stomach could have more space to grow, and made it more of an empire waist. She also hemmed the dress as it was a bit long. I took a dress in for a simple alteration. The dress seams had been finished off with a serger, kind of figured that's what I would get, not so, just a single strait stitch and the material where it was taken in was left on the dress. I guess maybe you don't want to cut it since it wasn't sewn with a serger. read more

She worked on about 10 pieces for me from simple hem jobs, taking waists in and out, expanding a too tight sleeve on a gown, patch/repair work and some creative alteration projects to expand a sweater and add a hood. Still fuming years later, every time I see someone recommend her. She totally destroyed my daughters wedding dress, a week before the wedding and had the nerve to take advantage of a distraught bride and charged her!!! Thank you, God! we discovered Gaylene Miller, who worked over the entire dress, redid the hem and the trim, cut the actual scissor sliced areas out of the back and replaced the section with a lace up panel, refitted and had it done the morning of the wedding.
