My mother in law was having a farewell party for one of her friends today. I was invited to hang out and eat with her girl gang. So, I stopped in today to grab a sweet treat for her friends. I checked out the variety of goodies today and they were quite a few. I didn't realize how much they truly had! I'm so used to grabbing bagels and donuts that I haven't really seen all their other options of goods. The beautiful sugar cookies caught my eye. I adore the delicate flowers that are printed on the cookie. I would have loved all my cookies too have had that floral print. I grab the only 4 they had and grabbed a couple extra cuties that they that were available. My mother in law's friends loved the cookies. They were full from lunch and decided to take their treats home. I'm sure they loved their cookies. They were excited to pick out their favorite one. The gal that helped me today was super sweet. I have to say that Pastry Perfection is the number one place in Boise to go get your birthday cake especially if you like frosting, which I do! My wife ordered a birthday cake for me last week. She asked them to cover the entire cake with flowers made from frosting, no writing, no other decorations, just entirely covered with frosting flowers. Wow - it did not disappoint! I'm not one to leave such a negative review but this whole experience was absolutely ridiculous. I've reached out to management several times to patch this up but have been completely ghosted. I put in a cake order for my daughter's birthday 2 weeks in advance with the pictures below as inspo. The top left pic is the desired frosting design. The top right is the rich icing color. The bottom left is the design for the top and the right is the cat silhouettes i asked to be on the side of the cake. After a very detailed email and phone call where I felt we had reached an understanding, I received the bright orange airbrushed cake below. No cat Silhouettes, tiny 20, (i recommend you zoom in on the..."font"), and the frosting is white underneath with bright orange airbrush, leaving the cross section unappealing. Pastry Perfection is my go-to when it comes to celebration cakes and cupcakes. We have gotten countless desserts from them and they always taste delicious. It is a busy place so know that when ordering that you should order ahead. It's also not going to look 100% like what you see online... but in my opinion the taste is so much more important. The name says it all, I'm not sure what else I can say. But I'll try. This bakery is massive and has cakes, donuts, pastries, breads and every other kind of treat that my jeans wish I would skip. As you walk in the doors, you're hit with the blissful scent of baked goods. And you can't help but smile. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the 1990's, and that adds to it's charm and appeal. The color scheme, the neon sign and the whole ambience wraps me up in happy nostalgia. But then I'm snapped back to the current time when I see all those delicious goodies. And they are TASTY! I ordered a custom birthday cake for a friends birthday. It was about $40 and I brought in dried flowers for them to put on it. Turned out nice! The cake flavor itself is solid. Before I came in here myself, on a few occasions have had their donuts brought by someone else-- it's a great spot to pick up treats for the office or a party! At Pastry Perfection there are a few tables both inside and out that you can sit and enjoy your pastry at. There isn't a lot of savory items, but we did get a ham and cheese croissant. Seemed more like a buttered roll rather than a croissant - was not my favorite savory pastry. I do wish they offered more savory items! I tried a whipped cream cone that was a like a croissant cone filled with whipped cream and dipped in sugar. It was obviously delicious! An old fashion bakery with a large assortment of goods! I have passed this place several times and finally decide to go in. Staff were baking and decorating cakes in the back of the counter. I've been going to Pastry Perfection for years and they have a wide selection of tasty treats. However, they have seriously messed up both birth announcement orders I've done in the past 3 years. It started with gender reveal cupcakes with the blue icing filling oozing out of the bottom (in other words, they filled the cupcakes with the gender reveal-colored icing when they were way too hot and it melted and leaked out the bottom = zero gender reveal surprise.) Next, the true coup de grace...last week they made blue "baby rattle" cookies for another birth announcement at my office. Check out the attached photo and tell me what those cookies look like to you. My coworkers and I nearly dropped dead when we opened the box. Jokes aside, pastries for special events are really important and you need to get them right. Pastry Perfection has proven they don't care about getting it right. While I may continue to go there for donuts occasionally, I would never recommend using them for any type of special order. read more

I submitted a custom cake order online a few weeks ago for my daughter's 2nd birthday. I called a little over one week ago to make sure they had gotten the online submission. They hadn't, and they asked me to email it to them. Fine! No problem at all - just excited to have a cute cake for her birthday. I emailed them five minutes later with the picture of the final product and what flavors, size, etc. I told them I needed it for today (Saturday 4/17). They evidently never got that email, either, and I have no cake for tomorrow's birthday. Super disappointed. I happened to stumble upon Pastry Perfection today while looking for the Assistance League thrift shop. I arrived early to the thrift shop and had a few minutes to kill so I decided to go in. As I walked in I was greeted by delicious smells & warm welcomes from the staff. I was not expecting it to be so HUGE inside! My daughter and I spent a good 10-15 minutes looking at all of the offerings in the dismay cases. They had everything from breads & donuts to sheet cakes and fruit tarts. There were several items that came in 2 different sizes. I thought that was a nice touch. We decided to get a variety of cupcakes, cookies, tarts, & lemon pie. When we arrived home and shared the treats with the whole family, there were zero complaints. All of the desserts tasted fresh and were made with good ingredients. The store and their offerings reminded me of an old school bakery and so it was very nostalgic feeling. I plan on going back soon to try some of their breads and muffins. The staff at Pastry Perfection were great! They were super patient with us and they answered ALL of our questions (even the dumb ones) happily! Worst cake ever. We'd morning, (Dec20, 2023) popped in for a holiday cake. Bought the red velvet with white frosting and tiny hollys piped around the top. These donuts taste amazing! I love donuts and have tried many places. Pastry Perfection is consistent in their texture, types of donuts, and variety. The texture is a balance of chewy yet soft. Many donuts have a very dominant bread texture with extreme sweetness on top. These don't feel stale like many grocery store bought. The frosting even has its own unique taste that blends well with the texture of the dough! We buy weekly from here. Super nice staff too. read more

Lol Growing up in NY, I went to small bakeries and they were always homey/small and always so good. Pastry Perfection is like them. Their pastries are always so delicious! The ladies who work there are all so wonderful and all so incredibly sweet. I've literally never had a bad experience in there. I watch what I eat. I have a MASSIVE sweet tooth. So, before I go in there, I know beforehand what I'm gonna get. So I go in, I tell them what I want and get the hell out! If I stay any longer, I'll leave with a dozen donuts just for me and whatever else I went in there for whoever else lol. I went in like a month ago. Went in for a cake for a friend who was leaving for a new job. I'm happy to announce that I SUCCESSFULLY went in, got the Orea cookie cake for my friend and SUCCESSFULLY got out without buying anything else... for me lol. That cake was INSANELY DELICIOUS! omg! Went here recently to pick up a German Apple Coffee Cake for a brunch I was hosting. I've also been on occasion for French baguettes and other breads . The positives: The place is pristine. Absolutely spotless. Their pastry case dazzles and I could easily spend far too much time deciding on which little lovely to purchase. They are also open later than a lot of bakeries in the area (until 7pm on weekdays and 6pm on Sat.). The not so positive: Their stuff does LOOK divine. However I've always found their goods, while always acceptable, not outstanding. They offer doughnuts, which, to me, are never quite as delicious as DK (what is it about that place!? But I digress...). Their bread is fine, but I'd take Great Harvest bread over Pastry Perfection's anytime. The German Apple Coffee Cake was good, but nothing to rave about. What I would like to try is their cookies. They have a plethora of absolutely beautiful cookies adorning their immaculate cases. They seem like they might be delicious...and I'll definitely report back once I've tried (whenever that will be...not much of a voracious cookie eater). read more

I had a friend that brought donuts this morning. Donuts are donuts to me. They're all worth eating and are delicious BUT when I took a bite of the maple bar from Pastry Perfection, I noticed something different. There was a crisp ones to the edges and the balance of icing and donut was perfect. The flavor...off the hook. I then tried part of the Apple fritter and then the large Apple Pastry she brought as well. I honestly had to look this company up to see what all they had to offer. I have driven by this place several times since moving to Boise. Today I decided to stop. I saw plenty of cars in the parking lot. I went in and the place was clean.
