Inside out: this place is tucked away at the end of a little strip in the parking lot of Albertson's across from Idaho Pizza. The parking lot isn't very big, but the inside is really cute and homey. Service: everyone there has always been kind hearted and great at recommending things to try. Food: Their lemon muffin just blew my mind. It was so lemony and I am absolutely obsessed. I once had a savory muffin there with feta I think? And I still think about it and it's probably been a year. Overall: they seem like a lovely place great to stop in for a little bite. They have a selection of savory and sweet and their day old rack as well. I know they do custom things, but I can't speak to that experience. Staff was kind and communicated well when I ordered a cake for my wife's birthday. Everything looked tasty, unfortunately we had a lemon muffin which was super dry and mostly flavorless, kinda tasted like soap, got my wife a full chocolate layer cake and nobody was able to eat more than two bites, it was easily the most dry and weird tasting cake ever, had a bitter after taste. I got a chocolate chip cookie and it looked good as well but tasted like it missed half the ingredients. All three of these items were probably some of the worst "baked" goods my family and I ever had. My wife was so excited and then once she took a bite her face and happiness ended immediately. I can't believe I spent nearly $80 for dry and flavorless cookie, lemon soap tasing muffins and a cake that tasted worse than an old store bought cake. We all wanted this place to be good the staff in mostly really friendly but I would go here again even for free baked goods, worst baked goods we've had in years, so sad. Really don't want to be mean or hurtful because they're nice but they shouldn't be allowed to back food for the public. read more

I hate to post a bad review because the people here are wonderful. However, I ordered a pie for a very special occasion, and the pie crust was very thick, hard as a rock, and inedible. I couldn't even slice the pie. 100 people in attendance, and 2 portions of the filling were scooped out and eaten. The filling was good at least. My husband stopped by Granny C's to get some pastries for the holiday. Neither of us had been there, or had tried any of their pastries before. When he got home, he said the place was unassuming, and the staff there were all older, which he believed meant they all knew what they were doing in regard to baking. He was right. He brought home cinnamon buns, a sticky bun, a few "scones, and a chocolate chip cookie. He said everyone was friendly and helpful there. If you love cinnamon buns, theirs are excellent. They are sweet, and the frosting makes them sweeter. We opted for half the amount of frosting. Tip: Definitely warm them up before eating, and do it with coffee or hot cocoa in hand. The scones were in parentheses because they aren't traditional. Scones usually have a dry crumb and only slightly sweet. These were not that. They were a cross between a muffin and scone as far as texture. It was also glazed, so it was more of a true pastry...soft, flaky, sweet, and delicious!! I HIGHLY recommend the raspberry white chocolate. Highly. And, just a side note. They do make something closer to a scone (with the attitude of a biscuit)...I think it was cheese, bacon, & chive? Perfect for breakfast on the go!!! There are so many wonderfully delicious goodies here. Trust me. I'm going back as soon as I lose the holiday weight. read more

I love this bakery! First time visitor and I was very impressed. Did not think to take any photos as I ran in just to get a quick pastry. Now I wish I had done so. The bakery is a great choice for many selections of baked goods. From pies, cakes, cinnamon rolls, cookies, muffins, and scones. I chose the raspberry white chocolate scone. I ordered a custom fondant cake with fondant Scottie dogs and a pink doghouse for my granddaughter's birthday. What I received was a roughly frosted buttercream cake with paper cutouts, uneven writing, and decorations that looked nothing like what I ordered. I was later told their fondant was "dry, oily, and unworkable," so they made substitutions without notifying me -- an unacceptable decision from a professional bakery. They had 5 days to make or purchase acceptable fondant. They are a bakery that does custom cakes. To make matters worse, they refused a refund, saying my daughter "approved" the cake when she picked it up. She didn't place the order and had no idea what it was supposed to look like. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism was shocking, especially after last year's perfect cake. Sadly, I can't recommend Granny C's Bakery after this experience. read more

Middle tier Lemon with raspberry and bottom tier was carrot cake with delicious cream cheese frosting. I got the biscuits and gravy, a peaches and cream muffin, strawberry turnover, vanilla caramel cupcake. And a raspberry lemon cupcake. The biscuits and gravy are really good, chunks of sausage in the gravy and really soft biscuits. The peaches and cream muffin was perfect, chopped up pieces of peaches, moist, crunchy on top, delicious. Granny C' Bakery is exactly what every local, hometown bakery should strive to be! It's blatantly apparent that they serve fresh pastries and use very high quality ingredients. I've been here several times and every single time I've been very satisfied with my experience. On a recent visit I chose a cream puff, chocolate eclair and cheese danish. The cream puff was crazy! There was so much pudding I had to end up using a fork to eat it so I wouldn't make a huge mess. But it was delicious, and HUGE. The eclair was just as decadent and large, filled to the brim with pudding that was freshly made. The cream danish had a bit of a lemon flavor to it which surprised me, but I enjoyed it! Other pastries I recommend include the chocolate croissant (I think they use Nutella, it's freaking GOOD), the strawberry cream cheese roll and any one of their cake slices, notably the blueberry lemon. All of their pastries are very large, especially for the price. I typically end up having to save half of them for later because I just can't fit that much food in my belly at once. The prices are so good too. I usually get a box of three pastries, and it comes out to just around $10. The value you get exceeds everything else. I highly recommend visiting Granny C whenever you get the chance. read more

This is a friendly gathering place for friends and visitors. I was welcomed by my new friends and the owner, treated like I'd been there a million times. I ordered the cinnamon roll. It was still warm from the oven. It was my perfect. Crunchy on the outside soft and buttery on the inside. It was sooo good. I bought 2 Im pretty picky on my coffee ( I'm not a Starbucks fan) I asked the owner about what would be best suited for my taste. He recommended Caff'e D'arte. The man was right ( yes, I'll admit it)! The coffee went so perfect with my roll. As you can see by the pics, they have several different treats for a Stella or Fido. They also do wedding cakes holiday pies and treats and special orders. This place is some what small, apprx 6 tables and a couple little tables out front. I also sampled the ham and cheese croissant and found it also flaky and full of cheese and ham. Both were veritable taste explosions. Because I had business about a mile away, I thought I'd try the highly reviewed Granny C's. I'm happy I didn't make a special trip. The Granny's cinnamon roll was stale and dry, and tasted like I imagine straw would if it had sugar and cinnamon stuck to it. Granny Cs took my phone call with less than 24 hours notice, and put together a delicious batch of beautiful baby boy baby shower cookies. They were so kind, and so accommodating. Oh my goodness, the pastries are so good...and big! I don't normally finish a whole chocolate croissant, but I did today. It was super flaky and the chocolate was delicious and plentiful. My husband said his cinnamon bun was perfectly caramelized on the outside, nice and tender on the inside with a creamy frosting to top it off. Can't wait to try the pecan sticky bun tomorrow! I like this small bakery with a down-home feel. They do a good job reminding us they are there with their regular Facebook posts. I enjoy the coffee and the cream puffs and the key lime pie. They do a good job with their seasonal offerings for the various holidays. Now---I got some frosted cookies for my grandkids. They were blue and orange cookies for the Boise State Broncos. The blue frosting made the kids mouths, lips, tongues and even teeth blue. It was hard to remove. It also was hard to get off of their hands. It sort of freaked out the kids. And me, and the parents. I tried again a few months later since I didn't remember the frosting fiasco. Sure enough, the bright red and the black colored their mouths, etc. It also left some impossible stains on furniture fabric. I hope there is a way Granny C's will switch to frosting that doesn't stain everything. It really is a problem. We won't get cookies there again until they switch. The cookies themselves taste good. The frosting doesn't have to be so vividly colorful. It would be so much better if the colors were not staining mouths and clothes. Thanks for taking this into consideration. read more

Over the summer, I started coming here for a morning pastry a couple times a week, not just for these delicious morsels, but also to say hi to my "family". However, I asked them to bake us a cake for my son's first birthday and BOY DID THEY DELIVER! Had been watching holiday baking shows and saw Yule logs and they looked good and decided I needed one for my family at Christmas. Friend of mine mentioned Granny C's and I sent a message to them after they were closed a week before Christmas. They responded within a couple of minutes and had an order in 10 minutes. Picked it up on Tuesday before Christmas and was blown away with how beautiful it was and all the detail...and it was very reasonably priced. Employees were very friendly and helpful. When we cut into it, and started eating it, it was outstanding. There was a fight over the meringue mushrooms! I bought a couple of other tasty treats...all excellent. We came in today to try your bakery. We bought 2 cinnamon rolls that were very hard and dry. We also bought a coconut cream pie that we had to wait for them to make more. We originally planned to get the pie. There was absolutely no coconut in the pie, but there was just a sprinkle of coconut on the top. This pie had absolutely no coconut taste to i. It tasted like vanilla pudding. I love to try Mom and Pop business'. We will not pay the higher prices especially for items that have no taste. Really dissatisfied and disappointe. Yuck! read more
