TL;DR: Wow, what a change in experience! In case you don't want to read all the way through, it took SEVEN HOURS to do an oil change and mount tires. Per the sassy shop advisor, they are not properly trained to install tires unless they are their own. So if you're part of the 15% of people who buy tires at a dealership, they can take care of you. I was so excited about this place last time I came here. Even though it took three hours to do an oil change, I didn't think much of it and let it go. Oh, how experiences can vary. I made a 1000 appointment for an oil change, tire install, and alignment. If you've ever done any of this before, an oil change takes a half hour or so. Tire mounting and install should be a half hour or so. Alignment, less than a half hour. I rounded all this up to an hour each. Figured at the VERY LATEST, it would take three hours. So say 1300, right? Well I arrived at 0900 and they offered to give me a lift home. Odd, it shouldn't take too long, but whatever, I'll hang out at home. When I asked about the time frame, they said it should be a little bit. No real estimate. Mark signed me up for text message updates, and told me he would call when the tires were installed regarding the alignment. So I'm doing stuff around the house, and realize, it has been HOURS and no update. No text message, no call, nothing. So I tried to call Mark back, and the receptionist said he is not at the desk, but will call me back as soon as he returns. This was at 1430, FOUR and a half hours after my appointment, five and a half hours after I dropped my car off. Another hour and a half goes by, no calls, no text message updates. So I call again, and wait for someone to answer and give me an update- at 1600, this was SIX hours after my appointment, SEVEN hours after I dropped it off. For an oil change and tire mount! So I wait for them to pick me up, and the guy who is driving said they were finally starting the alignment when he left, and it should be done by time we get there. I asked him about why it could take so long, and he said he had no clue. He did say he was wondering why it was sitting around the shop and no one was doing anything with it. We get there, and apparently they just got done with it. 1741, they ring me up. They didn't do an alignment and said it was fine. So from my appointment time to checkout, it took SEVEN HOURS AND FORTY ONE MINUTES to do an oil change and tire mount. Of course I was polite and didn't take out my frustration with the tech and receptionist. They had no clue how it could take so long, and left it at "Sorry it took so long." As I went to the car, the four boys standing around looking at the car giggled away, and said that it was a beautiful day to have the car out driving. I found that a bit snide, and couldn't help but respond with "If my car wasn't here for seven hours to get an oil change, I'd have been able to drive it today." In came the sassy shop advisor. He seemed to be very offended that I wasn't pleased with the wait. Apparently this is par for the course, and I should be grateful to have waited. He then went on about how he was generous to let me bring in my own tires, and he is risking liability by installing tires not sourced by him. He has "never heard of someone bringing in tires" and said "we can't do that." Obviously that's a load of garbage, 17 million tires a year are bought online and installed. Tirerack actually has 18 recommended places to install them in Vermillion, though none of them are Pat O Brien. I guess when I ordered tires POB sells and recommends for my car, I shouldn't have taken them to POB. They were polite enough to take the receipt off of the tires and staple it to my invoice. But I get why. Had I bought the tires from POB, they would have been $400 more. Tirerack also gives you manufacturers rebates. So I get a gift card for $70 from Michelin for my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+. I assume they wouldn't mention that to me, since they didn't bother to mention the $20 mail in rebate for my oil change- I found it online. So I could have spent $470 more at POB, and not had the free Road Hazard warranty, and maybe not gotten the attitude. So, if you don't care about price, and have no value for your time, you'll do alright here. And when you don't hear anything about your oil change for seven hours, just start calling and eventually you'll get squared away! In case you're looking for tire services, I'm attaching some of the recommended places in the area, like Kasper Toyota or Porsche of North Olmsted. And like the POB website says, if you want friendly and knowledgeable service, go to any of their dealerships but this one. read more

I recently purchased a used 2016 Chevy Tahoe through Pat O'Brien in Vermilion, which I thought was in good shape with 72,000 miles. I was told the vehicle had the 170-point inspection done, so I would not be concerned with issues. I purchased the vehicle in mid March and at the time we had snow on the ground. When I test drove it I had the heat on, heated seats, and defroster. I thought everything functioned properly on the vehicle. Our spring was not warm this year, we had snow a couple of times in May. I had no use for the air conditioner (AC) at the time until June 26th, this was the first day I turned on the AC. When I turned the AC on it did not work well and was blowing hot air. I called the sales rep and talked to him about the issue with the AC. I told him I was leaving on vacation and would make a appointment to bring it back to the dealer (Pat O'Brien-Vermilion) when I returned. I made the appointment for 7/15 and dropped the vehicle off on 7/14. I called on 7/15 to check on the vehicle and was told there was $1000.00 in needed repairs to the AC. I was told by the service repair receptionist this should be covered by my 12month/12,000mile warranty. I receiveded a call back and they said there was nothing covered for the AC repairs under the warranty. I was really mad/upset, so I called the manager of the service department and he was not helpful at all. The manager of the service department was very cocky and rude. He told me there was nothing that he could do for me, so I told him I would pick up the vehicle. When I picked up the vehicle, I told sales repair receptionist that Pat O'Brien has lost a customer for life and will pass my story on. My girlfriend was suppose to purchase a vehicle there, not anymore. It is very sad no one could really even offer me a sincere apology or try to fix the situation, not even a coupon! As a business owner I would of took care of my customer I ended up taking my vehicle to a good friend of mine who has been a mechanic his whole life. He had all the tools for checking AC systems, he checked the AC system and found nothing wrong. Pat O'Brien-Vermilion had told me my lines were leaking, he could not find any issues. He topped off the freon and the AC worked perfectly good during the 90 plus degree weather for under $100.00 dollars!! It is a shame customer service is fading fast. read more

Very DISAPOINTED! For WEEKS we talked to a sales guy about a truck. Told him what we needed to trade in and told him we had to travel 2 hours to get there. Asked him to try to at least get a close monthly payment so we wouldn't waste time in this pandemic. He sends us 2 payment options gets us excited, we travel 2 hours to get there and on the test drive tells us the quotes he gave us the day before were before our trade in. The payment was way over the amount we told him and even though we had done a credit info on line they had not even ran it yet. This is the year 2020 and buying a car especially in our current situation should not take so long and leave so much in question. When you buy anything else, House, Motorcycle, tractor you do all the credit checks up front and there is nothing left to do but sign the papers and leave with your toy! Car Manufacturers need to pay attention to these dealerships that are dragging the down!I will Not go back to Pat O'Brian, there is a reason a Dealership has to sell most of their locations!!! read more
