We called Laguna West Dental Care, and they were able to get us in first thing the very next morning. From the moment we walked through the door, everyone was welcoming, kind, and reassuring. The front office staff greeted us with smiles and even helped lighten the mood by joking with my son about his pool adventure. We were taken back right on time for X-rays and then met with Dr. Sethi, who thoroughly explained the treatment options. He gave us two choices: composite bonding to rebuild the teeth or crowns. We decided to try the more conservative approach first in an effort to preserve as much of my son's natural teeth as possible. Dr. Sethi carefully explained the pros and cons, including the possibility that the composite could chip in the future due to the amount of tooth structure that needed to be rebuilt. Although they weren't able to complete the procedure during the morning appointment, they went out of their way to fit us back into the schedule that same afternoon. I truly appreciated their flexibility and willingness to help during a stressful situation. The results were amazing. Dr. Sethi did a beautiful job matching the color of my son's teeth and rebuilding them so naturally that it's difficult to tell they were ever damaged. He took the time to explain everything throughout the process and had an excellent bedside manner that immediately put us at ease. A special thank you to Megan at the front desk for helping coordinate everything with our insurance and getting us in so quickly. Phuong, the dental assistant, was caring, funny, and compassionate throughout the entire experience. Every person we encountered--from the front office staff to the dental assistant to Dr. Sethi--was professional, friendly, and genuinely cared about my son's wellbeing. Dental emergencies are never fun, but Laguna West Dental Care turned a stressful situation into a positive experience. Disappointed and misled by false advertising…read more This dentist advertises that they specialize in treating patients with special needs, which is why we chose to bring our 13-year-old here. We've had difficult experiences in the past with pediatric dentists who lacked the skill or understanding to work with our child's unique needs, so we were hopeful. From the moment we walked in, however, we were subtly (and then not-so-subtly) encouraged to seek treatment elsewhere. I had disclosed ahead of time that my child is on the autism spectrum and has some sensitivity to sound. Despite that, it felt like they were trying to refer us out before even giving our child a fair chance. Eventually, the dentist agreed to do a cleaning, but only under nitrous, which we paid $175 for. My child did amazing. My child did flinch at the sound of the scraping--not out of pain, but simply in response to the sound. That's a very normal human reaction; even I do that at the dentist. But despite how well my child did, the dentist said she "couldn't handle that level of anxiety" and told us our only options were to pay out of pocket for dentists who don't take insurance or drive to San Francisco. It was clear to me that if I hadn't disclosed my child was on the spectrum, this wouldn't have been seen as a problem at all. If the office didn't claim to specialize in patients with special needs, I wouldn't be leaving this review. I respect when professionals are honest about what they can or can't handle. But advertising yourself as a provider for people with disabilities--then turning away a person who shows the slightest degree of discomfort--feels like false advertising. And it's incredibly disheartening. If you're looking for a truly patient, skilled, and neurodiversity-aware provider, I suggest looking elsewhere.

I'm a big baby and for some reason, dental was my least favorite place to go. ;) I have found Dr. Leo Townsend, DDS to be very professional and gentle! Great visit from my first to most recent…read more It had been some years since I'd gone to see the Dentist (yes I know), and I was looking for a more local dentist as my previous was in East Sac and I'm close to Elk Grove. I'd been researching dentists for some time and kept coming back to Elk Grove Healthy Smiles (EHS), due to all of theor positive reviews and the staff from posted photos seems very friendly. I finally decided to visit EHS, and it turns out my girlfriend we t here when she was younger and had positive experiences as well. My initial consultation was thorough, and everything noted was gone over with me by both my Dental Hygienist and Dr. Nanra. And any further treatment was discussed and I given the option and opportunity to do it the same day, which I opted for dueing my 1st visit. Further treatment I went to another professional, and EHS helped me through the process and were even able to get me in sooner than expected. And then get me back in in-house, to finish a treatment before I went on vacation. Standard visits have been quick and easy as well, and staff have always ensured I was comfortable throughout my visits. From the reception team up front, to the dental professionals in the back. I always receive a printout of the recommended services and how much they will cost. It also makes me question whether it's all about making money. Going to the dentist already gives me a lot of anxiety, and I'm sure that's the case for many people. At the end of the day, I don't want a doctor who makes me feel like there is always something wrong with my teeth. Throughout my years, I have seen a lot of doctors and none has ever made me feel pressure like Dr. Sato. Maybe it's his personality or how he approaches his patients. My goal in finding a good dentist has always been about finding a great dental hygienist, but this time around I feel like I need to move on and find another doctor who makes me feel more comfortable and at ease. Lately, whenever I get some sort of work done--like a crown, a root canal, or even a simple cleaning--my nerve seems to get triggered and causes pain elsewhere. Rule of thumb: if there is nothing wrong with your tooth and no pain, leave it alone.
