I've been here more than five times always for brunch and have watched the quality depreciate. Today I went for brunch and the appetizers, pumpkin roll and buffalo cauliflower were pretty great! I would order extra sauce to cover the buffalo cauliflower due to it being drizzled on just the bottom of the plate. My 2 person table ordered chicken and waffles that came burnt and the pre fix bottomless was cut shorter than the two hours by a little over than 10 minutes but was decent. read more

Went here for my birthday on Monday. We sat in the courtyard, which has a shared space with the Westin Inn..it's an all day happy hour which is really nice. Happy hour selections were very nice, which usually are pretty sparse. We ordered a daiquiri made w Bacardi, I had them add a little simple syrup to sweeten its tartness. The cauliflower tempura was yummy, as were the pierogis. I loved the sweet corn polenta, never had before but was pleasantly surprised. Ask for an extra shot of simple syrup in the daiquiris, unless you like tart. Adam was very helpful, answered all our questions & led us in the right direction with our selections. Came with the family for my sister's birthday brunch on a Saturday. Started off with the salmon board ($14) it was good. Came with some tomatoes, red onion, bagel crips and a soft herby cream cheese. The salmon portion was very small, like 3-4 thin slices. Needless to say, we had lots of bagel crisps, tomatoes & cheese left after the salmon was gone quick. For $14 they need to give another couple slices of salmon, otherwise the portion of salmon is laughable. Had some crab cakes, they were the star of the meal, good size, lots of crab, yummy sauce.. that was everyone's favorite. Everyone got coffee, it was cold. Had to ask for fresh hot coffee. Bro and sis got the prixe fix options so they got bottomless bellinis or mimosas w/ their meal. The problem was they both asked for bellinis and they were given mimosas. Told the waitress and she said no that's a Bellini.. no way was it peach, it was bright yellow & tasted and smelled like orange, so obviously it was orange juice. She said she would make the next batch herself and when she came around again it was correctly peach this time. My bro got the steak & eggs- he said it was good but again his steak portion was SMALL, like maybe 4oz. Sister got the French toast, really yummy, good size, she loved it. I got the hash, which was recommended by our waitress. It was ok- I got the eggs scrambled and therefore there was NO sauce on the plate.. hash-browns, large chunks of meat and eggs.. very dry and pretty flavorless. I could have made it better at home. For the ambiance & price this place is so-so. If they aim to be high end they have some details to work on and they need to fix the small things that in the end make a big difference. read more

Delicious- the open kitchen is super cool. The food was incredible. The watermelon salad, panchetta, buratta, and lemon ricotta with toast was amazing. Hunky Dory is an awesome drink. Franklin was an amazing server. He was so dedicated to the menu and was able to offer so many suggestions. He really knows a lot about his restaurant and that really shows. The banana cream pie was like nothing i have ever tasted. It's like an inside out cake and i was a little shocked by its appearance but not disappointed- actually beyond pleasantly surprised. Patina is a solid four-stars for a nicer restaurant. We went last weekend for our anniversary so we really went all out and tried a little bit of everything. Here we go: The incredible: * We had the perogies as a starter. They were incredible! It was two large perogies with fried onions on top and with sautéed onions and a sour cream sauce. The outside was crisp enough to show they were super fresh but when you bit into them they melted in your mouth. * My husband had the roasted duck with spaetzle. The duck was moist and tender and the homemade spaetzle was incredibly flavorful. * I had the NY Strip Steak with the horseradish gorgonzola butter. I ordered the steak medium and it came out medium well, which really wasn't a big deal because it was still very juicy. The steak had an awesome crisp sear around the edges but the real star was the horseradish gorgonzola butter. Oh my god was it good! * For dessert, I got the cheese platter because I'm a cheese addict. It was a very large, generous and delicious cheese platter. The blue cheese exploded with flavor when you bit into it and the cheddar was super sharp. I would totally jump around the menu and order this as an appetizer to share with a few people... or, heck, come and get just cheese and wine. * My husband had the chocolate cake for dessert. It was very good without being overpoweringly sweet. The good: * Wine - I thought the wine was overpriced. A lot of the by the glass wines were $12 - $20 (yes, $20) per glass. So we splurged and got a bottle since it was a special occasion. The wine we got - a chianti - was good, but I would never suggest that it was anywhere near $70 a bottle good. * Service - We really liked our server. He was warm and friendly. However, he may be new? He did a number of things that were a bit out of place for this type of restaurant. Like, when he brought the wine over, he spilt some on the table. (I don't think he noticed.) We were unphased and I just used the edge of my napkin to clean it up when he left, but there are people we know (I'm thinking of some of them right now) who would have taken serious note with some of these things. * Onion rings - My steak came with an onion ring on top and I had actually also thought about getting onion rings for my side. I'm glad I didn't. It was a good sized ring and crisp, not greasy so clearly it was fresh. However, I found it flavorless. My husband had a bite and said that it had the tiniest amount of sweetness - like fried dough at the fair - but even when I tried it again looking for those flavors, I couldn't find them. * Fries (potato wedges) - I got the fries (really potato wedges) for my side. They were fine but not anything special about them. Next time I think I'd get a different side. The areas for improvement: * Bread basket - we never got bread. I love bread. Other tables got bread. The table behind us got bread twice, but we were never offered any. My husband said I should just ask for some bread but I felt so silly about it. We had this obscene amount of food that we had to pack up as leftovers and I wanted to try the bread basket? Still, bread is one of my favorite elements of a meal and I would have liked to see what I thought about it for the future. * Overdressed - This one is completely outside the restaurants control, but we felt overdressed - me in particular. We dressed the way we would have for comparably priced restaurants - like Hutch's or Black and Blue. I wore a nice dress and my husband wore dress pants and a dress shirt. I'm not sure if it's the location (corner of Chippewa and Delaware) or the fact that it's attached to a hotel, but there were a lot of people coming in very casually - crop pants and sandals, rompers, t-shirts, etc. Overall, it was great. It was my first time coming here - I was very excited to try it. We had 8 girls for a birthday brunch and everything was fine prior to cashing out, food was good drinks were good; the server was great as well. There was an issue where they told us they couldn't swipe more than 5 cards to split the meal. how that debacle went down - is why we will never come back to this restaurant. The absolute and total lack of customer service we experienced was actually baffling. We were asked to charge our cards on 3 separate times and jostle everything around each time and then we were basically made to feel as tho we were the problems even tho we were just following what was asked of us. We then were approached by another server with a security guard in tow to give us an incredibly demeaning attitude about our cashing our situation. We were never approached by any sort of management or given any sort of communication, accommodation or anything. Just sat with empty drinks for an hour while this mess went on. Extremely disappointed is an understatement. We told the waiter we loved him but we will never be returning again and that we wanted him to know it has nothing to do with him. This review is based solely on their breakfast. I'm taking the time to write this review in hopes that the owner will read this. This restaurant has huge potential. The decor is beautiful and the dinner menu is good. I live in Buffalo and took the time to drive here for breakfast based on my experience with dinner. How could you go wrong? They even have an executive chef. I was definitely wrong! First, I made reservations through open table. Looks promising... once I was handed the menu, I was surprised but waited for the server to ask about the breakfast specials. Surely a bowl of Cheerios, a bagel, and an omelet couldn't be the only things on the menu. This was the type of menu that you would see at any hotel for free breakfast. I was wrong. This was the full breakfast menu with the executive chefs name right at the bottom. WOW! I stay at hotels over 100 nights a year. I avoid the crappy hotel breakfast at all cost. When I expressed my observation with the server, I was told that it was because they get a lot of guests from the hotel and they were catering to them. Since when did staying in a hotel warrant such subpar boring food. If I wanted a bowl of cold cereal, I'd just stay home! You have a beautiful restaurant, and you accept reservations, please have a menu and good food that gets people to show up and really enjoy the place. (You can keep your free breakfast menu for the guests, just create an additional menu with food as good as your dinner) Buffalo lacks greatly in the breakfast category. I decided to treat myself to breakfast and I had an orange juice and the lemon pancakes. They are very tasty and I could only eat about half of the serving. It's a pretty generous serving. So my check total came out to about $25 including tax and tip. The server was excellent and attentive to my needs. They are a little more expensive than they should be to comparable other bars but were good. The bartender we had could have been a little more friendly. Pantina 250 is outstanding. One of their chefs, Nathan, handcrafted an incredible vegan waffle for me topped with fresh fruit and pistachios for my graduation brunch. I called a week before and asked about their vegan options and Nathan went out of his way to accommodate me, discussing my options and, when I asked about the possibility of a waffle, spent the week preparing a recipe for me! When I arrived for my reservation and my party ordered, I was brought the most delicious and visually appealing waffle I've ever had. I'm so grateful for Nathan's kindness and would recommend Patina 250 to absolutely everyone. I enjoyed my date night at Patina 250. Such a spectacular bar and restaurant with high ceilings and unique decor. The service all around was phenomenal. Reasonably priced and expertly crafted cocktails. The crab cake appetizer was so delicious and chock full of crab, I wanted more of it ! The next course was a special, the philly cheese steak pizza. I would have no issue if this was added onto the menu, so much delectable flavor packed onto a thin crust. I still think about it. As per the duck, it was only my second time trying this type of meat, and I am not a fan of duck in general. I enjoyed every other aspect and layer of the dish. If you are a fan of duck, you would be sure to appreciate. My only regret is a ran out of room for dessert, which I am upset because I was informed there is a pastry chef that comes in every morning at 6am and makes all of the desserts. Was expecting the typical hotel restaurant experience but was pleasantly a step better; swanky dining room and good overall service complemented the great food. The cocktail menu was above par, and the food was great - though I will say it's not a huge menu so might not be ideal for large groups or fussy eaters. Otherwise a solid choice. read more

Stopped in for a drink (unfortunately didn't eat)... all the tables were open on a Monday night and there was maybe 6 of us at the bar. It was super cozy regardless. I ordered the black squirrel sugarshack punch and it was one of the best drinks I've ever had. My friend wasn't too happy with a glass of red wine either being $13 or $18... kinda pricey but it fits with the whole elegant ambiance of the place. I really wanted to give this place a second chance. It's so close to my office and brand new. I am now doubly convinced that it is best avoided. I ordered the burger for lunch. I ordered it medium rare and it came well done. The bottom of he bun was very soggy making it impossible to eat with my hands. I had to use a knife and fork to eat the burger. It tasted overcooked to the point where the meat was more card board like than meaty. The jam that came on the side was delicious. The large cut fries were also very dry and flavorless which was surprising because there was visible seasoning on them. The burger cost $16. This is absurd considering the quality (or lack thereof). The service was particularly attentive. This may be because the place was near empty and there were more employees than patrons. Regardless, the employees are all very nice and aim to please. It's not their fault the food is terrible and the prices are outrageous. I recommend avoiding this place. read more

My wife and I went this past Saturday and we were very pleased with everything. The short review: food was excellent, server was knowledgeable, unobtrusive, helpful and available when needed, the space is incredible - I feel a little ridiculous saying this, but I legitimately did not feel like I was in Buffalo. I have eaten at many restaurants in NYC and I'm happy to say the ambiance rivals any of those places in NYC without NYC prices. It's not cheap- but it wasn't exorbitant. We ordered the Poke bowl to start, be wary of the jalapeños- they were very hot, I was fine with them but they were a little too strong for my wife. The flavors were excellent and it was a great way to start the meal. Bread was fresh- from local EA bakery, Elm Street bakery- I wish it was warm, but we survived. We then ordered the pork chop, and duck entree, with two sides- Spaghetti Squash and the onion rings (every table around us also seemed to be ordering the onion rings- they appear to be an item that once you see them, you want them). The pork chop was perfectly cooked. Not dry, great flavor. The duck was my favorite- also perfect cooked medium rare, and the fat properly rendered - both of these entrees, which can easily dry out quickly when improperly cooked, were excellent. The side of spaetzel and mushrooms that accompanied the duck was outstanding and I'd suggest they add it to the side dishes available to order for $7 each. The squash was very good, as we're the onion rings, my only issue with the onion rings is they were not hot. I'd assume they were just cranking them out in huge batches because it seemed every table had an order. Dessert was a massive piece of cheesecake, which is not a typical order for us from a dessert perspective, but we definitely ended the meal on a high note. Our server was excellent- knowledgeable, unobtrusive, helpful and available when needed. My only issue was he didn't refill water glasses very timely, small pet peeve of mine- I just hate asking for water. Appetizer, two entrees, two sides, one dessert and a bottle of wine, $155, pre-tip. Although the place was super busy for Mother's Day, the staff was very attentive and in good spirits. Our hostess was extremely polite. Actually, every single face we encountered that day was smiley & attentive. Maybe it was the Mother's Day vibe, maybe that's just how they are. Either way, we are extremely pleased. We went here for my birthday (party of 4). It was a little early for dinner on a Saturday... around 5:40,so not too busy, but it started to fill up pretty quickly. The service was absolutely amazing, especially our server David. I had the portabelo fries for an appetizer and the the roast duck. Both were exceptional. Others in my group had the chicken, sirloin, and salmon. They were all really pleased. The standout was actually the Earl grey tea cocktail. It was made with local Tommy Rotter gin... probably the best cocktail I've ever tasted. The wine list is rather small but the pino I had was good (maybe not worth the $13 per glass). Lastly, our server came out with a complimentary slice of chocolate cake for my birthday, which is something I didn't expect and was a nice end to the meal. The staff is top notch, the food amazing, and the cocktails are superb. However, I love my wine and this place does not disappoint. If I am anywhere near Buffalo I will stay at the Westin and eat in this restaurant every single night. I made the mistake of trying other places nearby and always found them wanting, and always wishing I was at Patina 250 instead... I actually look forward to coming to Buffalo for work because of this restaurant alone. If that doesn't tell you how awesome this place is, nothing else will. 250 has been on my to-do list, so when my sister-in-law suggested it for Xmas dinner I was in, and glad we went. Exceptionally nice interior. Staff greeted us quickly and were very accommodating. The open viewing of the kitchen with its wood fired grill and chefs and crew assembling the orders was unique. We enjoyed having drinks and conversation in a comfortable lounge area before dinner. Once shown to our table we were promptly attended to with a wine list and menus. I chose the St Michelle Cab and, although a little pricey at $70, was happy I did. (It's Xmas after all) For app's we shared the Pierogi's (VG) and Buffalo Cauliflower (good). Pre-entree order of Beet Salad, Kale Salad and Squash Bisque were VG and enjoyed, and the wine is evaporating before our eyes. Better get another one. (Did I mention it's Xmas?) The entrees of Salmon (VG), Venison Medallions (good) and Double Pork Chop (VG) showed up in a timely fashion. My Venison came with some spaetzle but the other dishes really should have had a side ordered from the menu. On a personal note, I don't like when restaurants have side dishes as an added option, especially at these prices. Dessert anyone? Of course, It's Christmas! Banana Cream pie with a ginger snap crust, a Deep-dish Apple pie and coffees around should just about do it. Only negatives were that we had no salt and pepper on the table and it took a while to get it, and we saw other tables getting a bread service, which we didn't. Very mixed feelings. We had the most amazing dinner but the breakfast service was awful. As I said dinner was 5 stars. Rachel was our server and everything was impeccable. I had the Sea Bass and my wife has the Squash Ravioli. The service was amazing and the food was delightful. Fast forward 12 hours to breakfast and with few people in the restaurant it took 20 minutes to get tea and 40 minutes to get eggs. Which by the way we're prepared wrong, scramble when I ordered sunny side up. I don't want call out the name of the breakfast server, but if I owned the restaurant it would have been his last day. read more

Went here one night with my two girlfriends, we have been waiting to try this place out. The inside is beautiful and the service was great. The server answered all of our questions and warned us about the size of the place and highly suggested that we ordered a side. The food was also excellent. Only thing is, the portions were way too small for me. I love going to nice places but I hate leaving hungry. I'd rather a place increase the price than come out with portions for a small child. Although, this is very typical for nicer restaurants and nothing specific to this place. Besides that, everything was good. I loved how they decorated the place. I was offered a chance to come back to Pantina 250 to have the experience I should have had the prior visits. I accepted and went back for 3rd time. Everyone was super welcoming. Our server was spot on. We received a special treat from the chef. This was definelty the experience you want and would expect to have in a fine dining establishment.
