We walked by and really liked the open concept of this place with the high ceiling and two floors. They played great music and also had a TV (they were showing college basketball-which my bf appreciated). We decided to eat here the first night and was surprised by how GOOD the food was. We kept it light, ordered a few tacos and a salad. We sat down at the edge for approximately 20-30 minutes and out of nowhere, it started raining. Staff immediately helped moved us to another seating on the top floor. Eventually, we were surprised when they started handing out free shots with sparklers. Overall, it was a fun show. This is one sweet experience! 5th Ave in Mexico, much like 5th Ave anywhere else has a barrage of choices for food and shopping. It's just a matter of taste. Out one night for dinner and the decor of this place and the music lured me in. Sat on the ground floor. Our waiter took our order right away. Before we could place our drink orders, fresh chips were placed on the table. I ordered the salmon with crisp potatoes and mushroom sauce and a red sangria. The sangria was disappointing and I returned it in exchange for a glass of Rose'. When the food arrived I was also not enthused. The salmon looked great and the overall presentation was appealing. However , the potatoes consisted of 9 of the smallest size potato chips crisp so crisp they had no nutritional value and the only other edible on the plate was sauce. It could have been a great meal if I didn't have to steal potatoes from my dates plate. Overall, the menu needed to be more clear and they cusk stand to improve the drink selection. Go for drinks, happy hour, the ambience and great customer service. Perhaps have dinner some place else. read more

The food is beyond excellent. While walking down 5th Street you feel you need to take a break and refresh yourself please feel free to pull up a chair and relax. It's never too much to eat 2x a day. Eat drink and be merry here. The octopus tacos and shrimp are to die for and keep you screaming for more. Grilled to perfection and yet the shrimp are plump and moist. Seasoned with saffron and creama avocado and sour cream. Perfect for a light late night snack. If you are meat eater than try the chipotle steak. My wife and I were walking by and stopped in because the music sounded great and they had some openings at the bar. The bartenders were very cool and fun. They have the guy who is training wearing a "Training," T-shirt which we though was funny and had a good time teasing him about it. I had a couple of beers and my wife tried a couple of their drinks which were excellent she said. The bar itself is active and lively. The music is really on point and diverse. They went with 80's to modern Hip Hop. We stayed for about and hour and had a great time. It's also great for people watching since it's right in the middle of everything. read more

If I could give two separate reviews, I'd say this place deserves a 1 star for the service but I'll bring it up to 3 stars because when I finally got the right drink it was good. The bartenders were staring at us for a good 15 minutes, trying to pass off serving us for whatever reason. So I ordered the El Diablo cocktail, which was a tequila blanca with berries. The bartender took her time to make it but out of the corner of my eye I noticed she was pouring Jose Cuervo Gold (dark tequila) and all I could think was I hope that's not mine. The drink was placed in front of me and I asked nicely, isn't this supposed to have white tequila. She then took the menu stared at it blankly for a couple minutes and realized she made a mistake. Then she tried playing it off by saying "Jose Cuervo is better quality". I had to hold back my laugh, does she mean by college standards? The place itself had a good atmosphere and the dj was playing good music. Come here for a drink and hopefully you'll get a better bartender. read more

Me and my friends came here twice for a wedding weekend from Las Vegas. Patio 8 has a very relaxing atmosphere with very good food and cocktails(mezcal). Our server Julio and the rest of the staff were very kind and accomodating. We will definitely come back here. read more

I've never had the food here, but their mixology menu is absolutely amazing. I am not a big mixed drink person, but every one of their drinks (yes I've had one of every drink on the mixology menu - they are that good) is light and crafted beautifully together. I hate most gin or mezcal drinks but the mixologist know their stuff. I've been back every night for post dinner drinks just for a night cap because I don't have places like this at home. read more

I broke the first rule of yelp, read the reviews!!!! Don't ask me what I was thinking but I was blinded. We had a large group and saw patio 8. This is a really cool place and the menu looked pretty good. So let's try it I will say that the food was ok. We had a. Number of dishes in our party. I had the Short Ribs and they were actually really good. Other dishes included the fish, the Ox Tail and the ceviche. The ceviche is what the issue was. Basically it came out and the shrimp was raw. We talked with the waiter and finally had the manager come over. He agreed and said that they hadn't let it marinate long enough for the shrimp to cook. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! Why would you serve that? Unfortunately the rest of us had eaten their food. I would be suspect to come here again. read more

Ate here twice on our most recent trip to Playa del Carmen (once with our 4-yr-old after a long day at Cozumel and again as take-out food we brought back to our hotel). The food is really good, and it's not bland and forgettable like most of the food served at the restaurants on 5th that have modern decor and attract tourists. Get the Rosarito shrimp tacos (best thing we got), or the pork belly tacos, or a shrimp and octopus skewer. great atmosphere but .... we ordered original margaritas with patron then another round - well thank goodness i had a little left over in my first glass as the drink they brought next was a watery mess of i don't know what so i took the small remainder from my first drink to the bar myself where i asked the manager to taste and he agreed with me but while he was tasting the snotty little boy bartender said "that's the second time i remade your drink" to that i replied "well let's try number three" - the manager told him to remake the drink and that they were not the same as the first one they had made me food ..... well my husband had their steak special and it was wonderful - i had the chicken and it tasted like a jar of salt ..... i will have to say that because of the drink incident and my salt dinner - we will not be back to this location read more

Awkward! We stopped in for dinner, luckily we were smart enough to leave after 1st drink. The service was sub par, everyone else had nuts, we felt ignored, had to wave waiter down. During our time there several waiter's "dick hounded" the poor waitress, she was obviously uncomfortable. Awesome atmosphere and service. Fabian and Mauricio are great bartenders! We stopped by during the day to see if they would have a nba game on later that night, and said they would for us. Had some drinks and some yummy tequila that Fabian recommended. Came back for the game we wanted to watch and we had the best time ever! Mauricio makes an amazing lemon drop shot and the DJ was great, too. Everyone was so attentive and friendly. We will definitely come back throughout our trip! read more
