Highly recommend this bakery for made-to-order food and delicious treats. it took a while for our food to arrive, but it was made with high quality ingredients and care, so it was worth the wait. They have seating for maybe 8 tables, and it's a little cramped with a small town vibe. We were content to eat in but this is definitely a good take-out spot as well. read more

This place was very clean and cute. The baked goods looked and smelled amazing but we were looking for something more substantial for breakfast. We tried the breakfast burrito and the frittata and neither were good. Service was adequate but we did not feel welcomed as we showed up at opening time and she did not appear to be ready for customers. What a cute shop, super clean and nicely maintained and the location is super nice, the food is ok but that's the only good things I can say about this shop. The staff is ok but not the nicest, they got my order wrong and I don't feel like they were too pleased with my correcting it. My family visited this cafe while in the area for the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We decided to go to it because it had decent reviews for pastries and my husband really wanted to try their cinnamon roll. While the location was very nice and inside was clean and quaint, we found the breakfast sandwich to be okay. However, the blueberry coffee cake and cinnamon roll were good. Unfortunately, we found the staff to be quite rude. They seemed annoyed we even stopped by to order anything as if we forced them to be at work. Even worse, the two women behind the counter seemed nice to an older couple sitting inside which made it apparent how not nice they were to my husband, 10 month old, and myself. Not sure if this was a one off and perhaps the workers were not having a good day, but it does make me not want to visit again. read more

We called in an order for pick up @ 9 am on a Thursday while we were staying down in Prunedale for the following: 2 - breakfast sandwiches w/bacon (asked for avocado but they ran out) 1 - cinnamon roll When we arrived, we were notified they ran out of hash browns and substituted with ham instead. This was a really big bummer; I like bacon but not a huge fan of ham for breakfast (yes - I do like bacon, it's not the same). The hash brown adds a textural element too! We were told this was a better deal for us. While there, we got distracted by all of the yummy looking baked goodies and decided to also take home a chocolate cake slice as well as the mini key lime pie, oh and I think my daughter grabbed a red velvet cake slice too. I got a few cupcakes to celebrate my son's birthday. The inside of the store is beautiful. The owner was there and she was very nice and was vey informative about her pastries! There was a small area to snack in, but I was in a little rush. I'm not certain if there is a restroom. As for the cupcakes... I got 3 different cupcakes. I got a strawberry, chocolate & vanilla. The strawberry & vanilla cupcakes unfortunately were not the greatest. The worst part of biting into a cupcake is getting that cornbread muffin texture inside. After stopping in yesterday, and now reading through reviews, I'm left thinking that the owner opened a bakery because she truly loved to bake... but needs a person who excels in customer service to work the front of the house. Place was clean and cute. Service was curt, giving the air of feeling annoyed. I get it, if you're trying to complete tasks in the kitchen and have to stop what you're doing to wait on a guest, it can be frustrating. All the same, without the welcoming atmosphere, I don't know that I'll return. Greeting was from the kitchen doorway. I told her I needed a moment to decide and called back to her "I'm ready when you are" since she had disappeared again into the kitchen. She didn't walk over to me to take my order, but rather stood at the register while I was at the other end of the counter looking at the goods I wanted. After paying, she collected my items and handed them to me. I never got to see the total. Wasn't offered a receipt. Was not offered a bag to carry my items (bag with two cookies, plastic container that housed the lemon square, and a plastic wrapped brownie). Wasn't offered a fork or napkin. I ordered a lemon square, a brownie, a snickerdoodle, and ginger cookie to go. My friend ate the brownie and said it was good enough to get again. The lemon square was okay- the shortbread base was too thick for my preferred ratio. The snickerdoodle had a crisp edge and chewy center; I liked that quite a bit. My friend prefers a soft snickerdoodle. The ginger cookie was thick, soft, and tasty. My work has revolved around sugar and customer service. I believe that bakeries, sweet shops, ice cream parlors and the like should feel like a fairytale. They are a luxury item. No matter how someone is feeling when they walk into a shop, people should walk out on a cloud, eager to return. I wanted that to be the case here too. read more

What a lovely little bakery! The ladies were both welcoming and showed me by their actions how they were happy to help. I felt comfortable enough to buy a bunch of goodies without realizing how much I actually bought. I must have left this establishment with half of the bakery! We were in town for the aquarium. Wanted coffee but from a nice small cafe. Find this place on Google. Walked in and the smell of the pastries was amazing. I ordered a vanilla latte. It was the best one I have ever had. Not kidding. I know it's a simple coffee but it was amazing. But that's were it stops. The lady there was rude. Almost like I was bothering her by wanting to order food. I asked if they sell burritos. She said in a rude manner "the menu is right there". Wow. Decided not to order food. (They also have A few breakfast items ) *One egg cheddar cheese and a hash brown served on a house made biscuit.Breakfast burrito with egg, cheddar cheese,roasted pepper,Spanish rice and beans. And the yogurt with their house made granola and berries Street parking but can be easy to find, depending on the time of day but they usually always have parking in the front. This morning I picked up their Latte macchiato and a cinnamon roll. Cinnamon roll was made perfectly and had the right amount of glaze. The coffee was made perfect. I love the decor inside made it feel very Christmasy. The lady who helped me was nice and share a couple talk about how lovely the weather today was (we had some showers in the central coast) she had some cute Xmas cookies! Five+ stars for the carrot cake. At $9 a slice it is definitely one of the pricier slices of cake I've ever had, but my husband and I split the slice, so we did get two servings out of the purchase. I have to say it was worth every penny. I have never tasted a more moist delicious carrot cake! The cream cheese frosting was generous and absolutely perfect. I wish I lived closer so I could get a slice every week. As others have noted, service isn't the warmest in the world, but didn't bother us too much. Would definitely go back. read more

Cute little bakery! We ordered several items on the menu, a lemon bar, cookies and cupcakes. All were very good, a little high in price but what I would expect to pay in the Monterey area. A quick browse at Yelp pics helped me find a couple uncommon bakery items at The Perfect Crumb. I was excited to try either Maple Cheddar Bacon Croissants or Biscuits, but they had stopped making them at the beginning of the pandemic. Since a savory breakfast was not in the cards for me, I settled on a few sweet items for later which turned out to be a mixed bag ranging from good (chewy Ginger cookie) to bad (cheesecake slice) to confusing (Almond Croissant was flat instead of puffy & flakey, had a nice amount of almond filling, but seemed to have pockets of uncooked dough running throughout.) This place is "no so hidden gem" just north of cannery row! The ambiance is like a small cottage or beach home. I love the jazz music here too, quite peaceful and you're able to enjoy the meal. The owner was really kind and accommodating, she has a warm and inviting demeanor. Super attentive too. My partner and I both had coffee and matcha and they were superb. The biscuit is made in house and was yummy. The chocolate croissant was yummy. Will need to try the cinnamon rolls next time, because I hear they're pretty good. The place gets a wonderful breeze and isn't too busy at all. There's ample seating too, if you're a group of 3-4 people. Love this place and will definitely come back! read more
