We tried their taro egg tarts, Portuguese style egg tarts, cookies, and earl grey Swiss roll cake. Sadly, I don't remember the name of the cookies but it was delicious: like a cross between an almond cookie in flavor but fortune cookie in texture; very light and crispy. The egg tarts were laminated expertly which made for a flakey, delicate crumb. I liked that the taro version has a smooth mousse on top, and bits of taro in the egg custard underneath. Portuguese egg tarts were delightful, probably some of the best in the area. Earl grey Swiss roll cake was masterfully done: right amount of tea flavor with perfect cream to cake ratio. I liked that that their selection isn't overwhelming, just a few great staples with examples of their custom cake decorations throughout the store. Ordering can be done in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin. Parking is very easy: there's a lot (18 N Stoneman Ave) behind the entrance on Main Street, shared with Ross and Dollar Tree. read more

Super cute bakery on Main Street, a few doors down from Ross. There is street parking, and also a parking lot in the back. Seems like most people come in to grab a few things before leaving. I came by right before closing on a Saturday evening, and they still had a good amount of pastries in stock. I was able to try their egg tarts, pork floss cake, mung bean cake, and taro velvet tart. Items were not too pricey, but they did add up. They also have breads, cookies, as well as cakes. If you want to special order a cake, you need to give them at least two days notice. I really enjoyed all of the items that I purchased, but I think the standout item was probably the Portuguese tart. This was two dollars for one, or $10 for six. I talked are slightly smaller than a normal bakery, but the taste was on point. Flaky crust and gooey/eggy center. I also like the pork floss cake, it was not too sweet, and was fairly light. I can see people enjoying the taro tart, but I thought the flavor was a little too mild. Mung bean cake was just ok. I am very satisfied with my experience here. I walked in to order their cinnamon roll cake, it was an 8in designed cake for $70. It's a steal, such a great price. A gentleman helped me, I was given a choice to choose what fruit to add in the cake. The choices was strawberry, mango and blueberries. I chose strawberry & mango. I guess all cake is white based cause I was given a choice to make it a chocolate cake. The cake was delicious. The design is so cute. Everyone at my party complimented on how cute the cake was, I couldn't agree more. My daughter was so happy, she absolutely loved it. Cute shop with unique options. Came here for egg tarts and got the original and ube. Original was solid, and their original was better than the one at patisserie too. The ube one was solid. They had only Taro Egg Tart, Portuguese Egg Tart, Crispy Floss Cake, 2 different muffins and 2 different Wafer Cake Rolls. Velvet Taro Egg Tart -not sure what I was expecting but I didn't expect to be how it was, it's unique. Bottom is layered with purple sweet rice underneath egg tart custard and topped with smashed taro. The pastry part was buttery and flakey, not too dense at all. Overall really good, not too sweet and not heavy. Great to bring as house warming sweets. Earl Grey Wafer Rolls -spongy and extremely moist. Earl grey strong but not too strong. I decided to stop by Grace & Wheat after seeing them on Instagram, and I'm glad I did. I picked up the Portuguese egg tarts (6 for $10) and the Taro egg tarts (4 for $10). First things first: the flavor of the egg tarts is excellent. They have a really nice balance of sweetness and that classic creamy texture you look for. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the red bean inside the taro egg tart. Personally, I think the taro would shine much better with a different filling (or even just on its own) as the red bean felt a bit distracting. The shop itself was pretty empty when I visited, with only one display case of desserts out. As someone who wants to see local spots succeed, I think adding a tea or drink menu would really help round out the experience and give people a reason to linger. The desserts are definitely high-quality, so I really hope they continue to grow and fill out that space! read more

Checked out Grace & Wheat Bakery which just opened 3 weeks ago. They had about 5 items on display when I went and when speaking to the staff they said they will be releasing more soon. They have a couple chairs at the front for you to eat at. I was able to try the original/earl grey wafer rolls, crispy pork floss cake, velvet taro egg tart and regular Portuguese egg tart. All of the items were not too sweet. Original/earl grey wafer rolls: Both of the rolls were super moist and smooth. It had a thin layer of cream which was delicious. You can really taste the earl grey in the cake and cream as well. $3 a slice Crispy pork floss cake: The cake was light and airy. It had a good coating of pork floss around and the inside has a light mayonnaise cream. It was more savory than sweet. $2.50 a piece. Velvet taro egg tart: The taro paste on top was nutty and earthy. It was a bit starchy which gave it a nice texture. On the bottom is the egg tart custard which mixed well with the taro. The tart itself was super flakey and crispy. $3 a tart Portuguese egg tart: The egg tart was pretty standard. Hidden gem alert! Came across this new bakery on main Street and it definitely reminded me of the bakeries in Shanghai. Crispy pork floss cake was so good. I wouldn't have known there was stuffing inside if I didnt give it a try. The combo of the pork floss, moist cake and a little bit of mayo inside, such a savory cake. I've tried pork floss bun in Shanghai before and they had a similar version but with salty egg. Another pastry we had tried was the taro egg tart. It was very creamy and fulfilling. Service was great and attentive. The cashier made sure if we had any question, he was going to explain if needed. Interior seems to be in the work, there's still some empty areas to be filled with more pastries. I saw this on TikTok and told my aunt about it so she came to get some for me today. She picked these up for me. - VELVET TARO EGG TART - GOLDEN PORTUGUESE EGG TART - XIAO FANG CRISPY FLOSS CAKE They were each pretty good, but my favorite will definitely be the velvet Toro egg tart, which is very different than the regular egg tarts I've had. I love the Taro on top but I didn't love the red bean on the inside. If those two were separate, I would like it more. The golden Portuguese egg tart was just case, I wish it was slightly sweeter, but definitely appreciated the crispy crust. I definitely did not really enjoy the Xiao fang crispy floss cake but definitely like the other two better. I ordered the taro egg tart, Portuguese egg tart and the crispy floss cake. My personal favorite was the taro egg tart. It had taro filling and some other chewy filling inside. The egg tarts weren't too sweet which is what I enjoyed most about them. The skin is very crispy once reheated. The crispy floss cake was also delightful, it tasted like the meat floss bun bread but more buttery and bite sized. Service was good. The lady worked quickly to pack orders. They only have a few items right now but I assume they'll have more items eventually. They also sell the Napoleon Asian style fruit cake. There is no seating in the bakery, it's a grab and go. This is a new bakery on Main Street. This location used to be One & One Bakery. I stopped by to get a couple items to try. I got a vanilla cream rolled cake and mung bean cake. The vanilla cream rolled cake was excellent. It was soft, moist, spongy and just the right amount of sweetness. 5/5 The mung bean cake was good but I would have preferred it to be a little bit sweeter. 4/5 Service was excellent. Delicious! I tried two items from this bakery. One was the Taro Paste Egg Tarts. I believe they had been freshly baked when I went in around 1:30pm. The pastry crust was so flakey, and the filling was not overwhelmingly sweet. It had the perfect egg tart flavor with the added bonus of taro. It was exactly how I hoped it would be. Second was the Crispy Floss Cake. I wasn't sure what to expect with this one, but I know I like pork floss, so I gave it a try. I am so glad I did. The crispy floss hides a lavishly light and fluffy cake that reminds me of those jiggly Japanese cheesecakes. There is a sweet and savory sauce in the middle. It felt a little like eating an onigiri that happened to be as light as air. The service was very friendly and inviting. But the interior isn't somewhere one would go to eat a pastry while chatting with friends. The only seating was a few chairs for customers waiting for something to finish baking. Their cake roll (the original flavor) is BOMB. Omg so good, is the best cake roll ever. I ordered 2 customized birthday cakes, and they're both amazing. I gave them the picture and they made it exactly how I wanted. And they taste very good - not too sweet. Cake is moist, cream is very lightweight and fresh. They have so many fillings (fruits, cookies, etc) to choose from One of the cake was crushed while I was driving home - not the shop's fault at all. Stopped by this bakery on 4/12 at 10am, after seeing Instagram videos. The front of the bakery looks old and dirty. Once we walked in, the equipment, shelves, wall looks updated and clean. When we walked in, there were 2 people at the cashier counter. Nobody greeted the customers, then one person disappeared to the back and the one remaining on the counter kept ignoring us. We waited a few minutes until he was ready to assist us. Limited selection that day, only 1/4 of the shelf was filled with pastries. We ordered the taro tart, egg tart, a puff pastry and meat floss. Pastries were good, fair price, but its empty inside. However, upon walking in on a Thursday afternoon, the older man who was working the front was on the phone talking to someone instead of greeting us. I expected him to end his phone call and help us with our order, but no lol he stayed on the phone and when we were paying he didn't say a single word even when we had asked questions.
