It is hard to believe he is not there. The business is still running under the capable hands of his daughter and son in law ( and his right hand baker- Maria). They take advance orders in addition to selling over the counter. I was pleased to see that they opened this storefront location at 8 am today due to the holiday demand. A special aspect of Sunflower is that they employ and train disabled people. So buying a cookie is not only a transaction and a tasty treat; it's an educational and vocational experience. This might mean you wait a bit longer and must exercise patience. But clearly worth it. I've had Sunflower's challah bread and Hamantaschen before. These Hamantaschen were definitely good. I won't say they are the best I've ever tasted, but they were darn good! They have a bunch of baked items, so it's fun to return and try the many offerings. I will definitely return!

I finally googled a cake store nearby and found Cakes in Style in the Rockville, MD area, very convenient. I took my fiancé at the time to meet with the owner Robert. I made an appointment with Robert; we went in and were amazed. First off, we saw many samples on the counter as well as in his portfolio. Then we went over the logistics of the cake, he took down great notes, provided great suggestions, and was very enthusiastic about helping us. He was kind enough to provide us with an impromptu cake tasting. My fiancé had made up his mind by the end of the free consultation, he picked the design, and we were all set. Robert kept in touch with updates, provided easy and flexible methods of payment and he delivered the cake on time and in one piece. We have seen many cake fail videos but nothing be scared about with Cakes in Style. Our venue was familiar to the owner, so we felt comfortable working with him. We left the store happy and content. We had selected a Red Velvet Cake with a Cream filling, our guests mentioned that it was the best cake they have ever had. It tasted amazing as well as looked beautiful. Presentation and Detail were on spot. I highly recommend Cakes in Style to all and everyone looking for a cake for their special occasion. I will surely use their services again in the future. Da la impresión de que han reducido las porciones y también ha bajado la calidad de los ingredientes. Lo que también me molestó fue el servicio al cliente. Cuando pedí las pupusas, la cajera me preguntó si quería curtido y salsa. En todos los lugares salvadoreños donde he comido, el curtido y la salsa vienen automáticamente incluido con las pupusas, ya que son el acompañamiento tradicional. Cuando respondí que quería lo que normalmente viene con las pupusas, ella me contestó: "No a todo el mundo le gustan los acompañamientos". Entiendo que algunas personas puedan no quererlos, pero lo normal es incluirlos y que el cliente decida si los quiere o no. Me dio la impresión de que están tratando de ahorrar costos a costa de la experiencia del cliente. They were bland, lacked flavor, and were very disappointing. The tamales still tasted good, but there was barely any chicken inside. It feels like the portions have gotten smaller while the quality of the ingredients has gone down. What also bothered me was the customer service. When I ordered my pupusas, the cashier asked if I wanted curtido and salsa. Every Salvadoran place I've been to includes these by default with pupusas because they are traditional accompaniments. When I responded that I wanted whatever normally comes with the pupusas, she replied, "Not everybody likes the toppings." While I understand that some people may decline them, they should still be offered as the standard unless the customer says otherwise. It gave me the impression that the restaurant is trying to cut costs at the expense of the customer experience. Another issue was that I was waiting to be helped, and another customer who came in after me was served before I was. That made me feel overlooked and was frustrating. This is not the first time I've experienced poor customer service here, so it seems to be an ongoing problem rather than a one-time mistake. This bakery used to have some of the best pupusas around, which makes this decline even more disappointing. I hope the owner takes these concerns seriously, improves the food quality, and retrains the front staff on customer service before the business continues to lose loyal customers.
