We love exploring bakeries, and this was my first visit to Tatte. The café offered plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy some treats. The baked goods certainly did not disappoint. While each item was packaged in its own individual box, I would have preferred everything to be packed together in a single box for convenience. **Lemon Mint Tart** - A buttery, crisp tart shell filled with tangy lemon-mint curd and topped with sweet, airy meringue. I'll start on a positive note, because who doesn't like that? Ambiance is 10/10, gorgeous, everything you want in a coffee shop. The desserts look phenomenal and their coffee/tea selection covers all the basics with a few extras (like pistachio, black sesame, and halva syrup), MEM tea blends, matcha, as well as a selection of coolers that sound absolutely divine using white peach/mint, strawberry/cardamom, and mango/ginger syrups. Who doesn't love a housemade syrup? I ordered the honey halva latte, raspberry meringue, pistachio cherry tart, and a plain butter tube (comes with 17 butter cookies). The butter cookies were perfect dipped in coffee, but almost everything else fell short. Looked divine, tasted so-so. The raspberry meringue might be one of the prettiest desserts I've seen but the filling left something to be desired. It had an odd aftertaste, while the pistachio tart barely had any kind of flavor. The coffee was, in a word, disappointing. The crumb cheesecake cup was tasty, but it felt like it was missing something. The woman who rang me up also wasn't friendly, which seemed a little odd considering that I'm a paying customer. Like she had an attitude for no reason. A simple "pick your coffee up over there" would suffice, considering that it was my first time and the barista was located on the other side of the establishment. Would I come back? There were cookies, cakes, pastries, and mousse desserts. It was a feast for the eyes. I ended up ordering my linzer tarte cookies. They were very good. Service was good. Today's selection was a vanilla key lime confection that was actually pretty tasty if not overly sweet. Definitely something to share. My black sesame latte was fine... but nothing special. I won't order it again. Probably the best thing about Tatte is the aesthetic. It's beautiful and clean design; this particular location had lots of natural light, and plenty of seating. The saltiness from the ham and cheese pairs very well with all the other sweet confections they have to offer. Warming up the croissant made it slightly softer. Vanilla Sugar Donut - Classic. If you like a slightly sweet yeast doughnut, this is the one for you! I would not recommend eating this in the car because the sugar got EVEERYWHERE! Passionfruit Krembo - Slight Tang. The passionfruit curd helped cut the sweetness of the cream and chocolate shell. Coffee Caramel Mousse Cake - Dense. It was dense and heavy. I have visited Tatte a few times and have only purchased the lattes. Their seasonal lattes are outstanding, and they always have a flavored latte that can be modified vegan with nondairy milk. Tatte has a lot of seating, however, they are so popular it often feels small when waiting in line to order. A few times I have visited I could not find a table and had to take my latte to go. If I visit outside their busier hours or I get lucky I have snagged a table and had the luxury of drinking my latte at a table inside. Despite how crowded it is inside I can always hear my friends and carry on conversation indoors easily. Occasionally it has been hard to hear when your order is ready so I definitely recommend checking in at the pickup area to make sure you get your latte while it is hot. So far my favorite latte is the Black Sesame Latte with nondairy milk. It is not too sweet, a little nutty, and so smooth. I especially love visiting Tatte in the fall for their version of a pumpkin spice latte. The syrup they use is dairy free which is challenging to find. I do wish Tatte had more vegan options, and more clearly labeled on the menu what can be modified to be vegan. Part of the reason I have not tried any of the food is because navigating the menu as a vegan is challenging. I hope they can make some changes so I can have breakfast or lunch with my latte in the future. For now I love visiting Tatte for a treat yo self moment. First they brought me a warm cup of coffee at my table but I mentioned to the server that I ordered an iced latte so he went back and had it remade. It tasted like water to be honest. The drinks, unfortunately all four times I've never been able to enjoy the drinks because they do not call your number to go pick it up and instead leave it at the pickup station and don't tell you you need to go get it. What are we leaving you a tip for?? The drinks were either already melting or room temperature so we never knew what they are supposed to be. COST: again, food is quite expensive and the biggest kicker is the tip. You don't even seat us, we need to wait for tables, and we have to clean up the tables because no one does it so we need to do it when we want to sit somewhere. The side salad could use some work it was just really plain and a bit soggy. I also tried their ham croissant sandwich which was delicious. Very filling and the croissant was fluffy and flaky. To drink I got the chai latte which was very good. And my husband got the pistachio latte which was good, a little too sweet in my opinion. New kid on the block that is making a great name for itself. The inside reminds me of a movie set coffee cafe with a big open space, bright, and the good kind of noisy. I can easily see a movie playing out. The servers are outgoing and attentive, friendly, and I found them to be helpful across the board. After ordering at the counter, we couldn't find an open table and ended up sitting at the counter table instead. Despite the crowd, our meals arrived in under 10 minutes--which was surprisingly fast. Oddly, my drink took longer to arrive than the food. I ordered the Blueberry, Beet & Ricotta Salad, which was refreshing and unique. I had never had whipped ricotta on a salad before, and it really tied all the flavors together. The toppings--like cashews and beets--added a nice touch. The roll on the side was buttery and flavorful, far exceeding my expectations. My partner had the Lamb Kebab Pita, which was tasty and well-balanced, but the portion was smaller than expected given the price. Tatte also offers a great variety of drinks. I usually go for coffee, but this time I tried the Matcha Rhubarb Spritz--it was subtly sweet and refreshing. We also tried the Passionfruit Krembo for dessert. It had a tart center, topped with cream and dipped in chocolate. While it sounded exciting, the cream (supposed to be meringue based on the description) was too soft, making it difficult to eat with just a fork or spoon. The portion was also very small, and the flavor was just average. At $7.50, we felt it wasn't worth the price. Next time, we'd probably skip the cakes and try some of the pastries instead. So far I'm really loving this location. It's usually pretty packed during the week at lunch and almost impossible to get a seat on the weekend. I've tried most of their seasonal drinks and have loved every unusual combination. My current go to is the matcha rhubarb at the moment. The baked goods are always spot on, but the cooked food is hit or miss. I've had good luck with the sandwiches, the broccolini pita is my favorite vegetarian option. The lamb pita is my favorite carnivore option. Today I decided to try the seasonal corn and spinach shakshouka. I can't have a lot of tomato so this was a really great take on the traditional dish. The spinach is a pureé and it has vegetables and egg. My only complaint is that whoever cracked the eggs in there had no idea what they were doing and left a tremendous amount of egg shells, which was gross. I am here to write about two things: ambience and coffee. First the ambience. Somehow Tatte has managed to keep a unique, European feel to its spaces, even as they have expanded at a Starbucks-like rate. I love their design, with high ceilings, big windows, and black-and-white sleekness. Did you know that every Tatte is on a corner, thus ensuring extra light? While the Bethesda location can produce an uncomfortable decibel level, this Rockville cafe is the right level of lively chattiness to make for a great cafe experience. And then there is the coffee. Oh my. I do not usually have coffee after my two big mugs in the morning, but on this particular afternoon, I felt like a latte. The coffee was out of this world. And paired with a large slice of apple spice cake, it is perfection. One curious note is that, even though we ordered the coffee "for here", it arrived in a "to-go" cup. I say curious because ceramic cups were in evidence at other tables. Apparently this because the dishwasher sometimes cannot keep up with the rate of service! But guess what? Even in a paper cup, the coffee was divine. And that is saying something. read more

Unfortunately I've only ever had their matcha. Every time I place my order with the Hispanic woman at the register, I feel like she's not actually listening to my order. Instead I've always ended up with an iced matcha on some days where I would want a chai. Their breakfast options however are quite tasty. I had the avocado toast and I enjoyed it. Already beloved in the D.C. area for its charming atmosphere, signature pastries, and quality food, Tatte's popularity easily carried over to this new location. The Rockville café is absolutely adorable, featuring modern, airy interiors and a welcoming outdoor patio (first come, first served). There's plenty of free parking right out front, which makes it super convenient. Note that they don't serve alcoholic drinks here -- it's all about the coffee, matcha, pastries, and beautifully made food. We visited around 11:30 AM on a Sunday morning and found the place buzzing. There was a line both for dine-in and takeout orders, and food took about 45 minutes after ordering. Despite the wait, the atmosphere stayed relaxed, and the staff kept everything moving. The menu offers a great range of options. Their matcha latte had a nice earthy flavor but tasted a bit powdery. The tiramisu was light, creamy, and not overly sweet -- a perfect finish if you're looking for a dessert to pair with your drink. Two standout savory dishes were: * Smoked Salmon, Avocado & Egg Sandwich: Smoked salmon paired with creamy avocado, scrambled eggs, red onion, capers, and alfalfa sprouts, all layered on a housemade challah roll with a fresh green herbed dressing. A hearty yet refreshing sandwich. * Croissant Breakfast Sandwich: A buttery, flaky croissant filled with egg, Vermont cheddar, sliced tomato, avocado, and baby arugula. One other thing to mention: while I love dogs and completely understand wanting to bring them out and about, Tatte is still a restaurant where people are eating. It would be much more respectful for guests with dogs to sit outside on the patio or opt for grab-and-go and keep dogs outside. It's important to be mindful of other guests who are dining inside. Overall, despite some minor bumps, Tatte Rockville is a great addition to the area and absolutely lives up to the hype. I have been to Tatte's in Boston, DC, and Maryland (Bethesda), so I was excited for their Rockville location to open. The restaurant in located in a more office-kinda shopping center, so it looks super out of place. The parking lot is big, but the actual spaces are really tight, so I would be mindful about which car to take. I try to order a different item each time I go to Tatte, so I opted for the Mezze Breakfast. The breakfast included two eggs any style and a sesame bagel paired with Mediterranean-flavored/seasoned veggies and spreads. I found one of the spreads a little too heavy on the red bell pepper, but the other one was delightful. The service was good. The cashier wasn't able to answer a few questions I had regarding the menu items, but I know they are just opening and figuring things out. I did notice a customer complained about the juices not being good, and the water from the facet came out grey when I used it. read more

The salad is a nice portion, I personally am someone who likes a lot of dressing, but if that is not you then I recommend asking for light dressing or for it on the side. The flavors mix really well. The tea is good but I added a little bit of honey and simple syrup and it made it really refreshing. The staff are very sweet and helpful. The tables here are very small and close together, so they come around frequently and help clear tables for more space. If you are looking to work from home here for multiple hours, that might be a littttleeee tricky. Like I said, the tables are very close together, and sometimes you have to share. The space gets loud very quickly compared to the last location I was at. The sound of talking fills the entire restaurant and the music playing does not help much. The parking lot is a bit of a mess. It's quite narrow and maneuvering around it is a challenge when you have trucks and vans. Leaving the parking lot can be challenging on busy times. They mainly have seating around the place. It was shockingly full at noon on a Tuesday. Food is the same as the other Tattes. But with the lack of seating it can be a bit hard to enjoy. This place isn't too bad in terms of speed, but a bit chaotic in terms of service as the staff can be a bit overwhelmed at times. Not on them, just busy as heck. I had never really been impressed with Tatte food, but it does seem to do the job for being a coffee place that also serves proper food. read more

At the first visit, I thought the Rockville location was going to have limited parking, but as I spoke with the manager, I found there is additional parking in the back (checked it out and there is more than enough even for all the businesses in the Towne Plaza). I ate in and decided to have breakfast. They have an all-day menu, and you can view it online (no prices listed), however in-house, the menu does list the prices. On this visit, I got the Tatte House Latte (menu shows it is Honey-Halva and Cardamom with Espresso). I ended up preferring this one compared to others I had tried on a different day. Always one size for the drinks. For breakfast I had Croque Madame. Per the menu it is a Housemade croissant, ham, Gruyère, and an egg (made my style) and topped with Mornay sauce. I did look up the pictures at all the other Tatte locations and this sandwich seemed smaller in the pictures as the Croissant I received looked huge on my plate. It was my first time trying this dish. Not sure I would get it again only because it didn't really wow me, but I am all for trying different things. To-go for lunch later, I grabbed the Chicken Salad Sandwich (described as Housemade herbed chicken salad with raisins, marinated cucumbers, and baby lettuce, served with a green herb dressing. It is regularly served on a housemade multigrain, however I had them substitute the bread for challah - made a big difference for me. It was a nice sized sandwich packed with some great items and so tasty. Even though I ate it later in the day, my bread did not get soggy at all - huge plus. I will certainly have that sandwich again, for sure. I couldn't leave without getting one my favorites: Butter Nutella Cookies (receipt lists it as Nutella Tube) - 7 cookies come in the pack. You can also get it in singles (behind the counter) or get a much bigger pack of 22. They won't last long - try it for yourself. Overall, great visit. Can't wait to come back. read more

I walked in and I could see why Tatte is popular: up(per) scale breakfast/brunch/coffee spot. The spacious, black and white, modern decor invites you in and then you are drawn into the hustle and bustle and chaos of all the filled seats and baked goods. For a quick lunch date, we ordered: 2 preserved fig lemon mint sodas, a short rib grilled cheese sandwich, and a crispy halloumi salad; they were out of the mushroom bacon shashouka. The star was the preserved fig lemon mint sodas. The salad was not quite as crispy or tasty as I expected (halloumi was on the over-chewy, firm side and the carrots were semi-cooked as in sort of soft and sort of firm). The grilled cheese was tasty and had a generous filling of short rib but I tasted no cheese and the beets added nothing to elevate or enhance the sandwich. Service was quick. This place is such a vibe. I could see people bringing their laptops here to get work done. There was a decent amount of seating. I noticed most seating was for two people. Service was super quick! I got my pastry right away which tasted so good! The filling in the mix fruit pastry kept the fruits still tasting sweet which I liked. I had my drink within 5 minutes. The pistachio latte was a great choice. However, I can't help but notice that there was a lot of pistachio crumbs at the bottom. Not really sure if that's a con but I kept drinking the crumbs with every sip. read more

This new location for Tatte just opened up on Rockville Pike so I know I needed to check it out. This location has lots of parking which was nice and it's easy to get to. When I went on a Friday at noon the place was jam packed. We could hardly find a place to sit. They have some individual tables as well as communal tables. After ordering, you take a number to your seat and they bring you your food and drink. I ordered some kind of matcha soda and club sandwich. Everything was fresh and delicious. Only critique here is that I really wish they had some dairy free/vegan pastry options but sadly they did not. read more

Went on a Sunday morning, not surprisingly it was very busy. However the line moved quickly and seating indoors was still available. We shared a cheese bureka and cinnamon rose. The cinnamon rose was crusty on the outside with a babka-like bread texture in a cup shape. The cinnamon flavoring was copious. The bureka was flaky with sesame seeds with a goat cheese filling. Both were excellent. Will be back for drinks and lunch dishes (salads or shakshuka). read more
