The nicest people work at Spring Mill Bakery. I was picking up subs around the corner and I called to see if they had my favorite gingerbread cookies? The young man who answered the phone said they had a few left. I asked if he would put 2 cookies away for me and I gave him my name. What a nice thing to do! Plus, there is a new cookie that I love. The oatmeal raisin cookie is soft, flavorful, and tastes amazing. You definitely have to try that one too. Spring Mill Bread's also has delicious breads. I loved their challah bread. It is tender and tasty. I am looking forward to trying their apple-cinnamon bread. Yum! This is a cute little shop. There are no tables for seating. A hidden gem in MOCO.... If you love Paneras or Whole Food baked goods, you'll fall in love with Spring Mills pastries. My favorite is their danishes. Then its their blueberry scones. And last its their croissants. If you love fresh baked bread, Their Challah bread is a favorite in my favorite. So good. 1 loaf isn't enough. Best time to go is in the morning, its baked fresh. Wow. I've been a MoCo guy for decades and never knew about this spot. They have some of the best biscuits I've ever tried. And their gluten free carrot cake is so good, you can't even tell it's gluten free. Hats off. Thank you to the cashier for recommending it when I said I had a sweet tooth haha. I can truly say the false advertisement of the great pastries were a lie. The cinnamon bun was more like sugar bread with very little cinnamon. The gingerbread cookie lacked any ginger at all. More molasses and a bad after taste. The only thing that somewhat was descent was the cherry turnover. All else was so sad and so expensive. If I could get my money back I would. Very disappointed! I guess they are known for their breads. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and should have asked for his advise. Absolutely insane to me that I hadn't tried this place out in the years it has been here. Especially because I've been to other establishments near it. I had a quick buy and check out experience that maybe took all of one minute, so if you're in a rush maybe the perfect place to get one of many pastries or cookies or breads. I got a leek pastry, a mushroom cheddar turnover and a peaches and cream scone. Now there would be photos but they got inhaled before I could take photos. This bakery sells delicious things. I can say a lot about the customer service, which is friendly and accommodating to special orders, but mostly this bakery sells delicious things. I'll admit that I like a crusty bread, and that's not their thing. I buy the challah consistently and the Apple Streusel bread on occasion. I ordered a birthday cake last year that was beautiful. The brownies are too good, so I don't buy them often because I have trouble not gobbling them in 10 seconds flat. If you call ahead they'll save things for you. I recommend it if you plan to buy a particular loaf of bread that's not available daily. They don't really give you a list of things they make for special order (of which I am aware) but ask them for what you want and they'll figure it out for a good price. read more

Spring Mill Bread remains as a staple in this Moco community - I revisited after not having gone for a few years and remembered how good their bread is! I love their seven grain crunch and really, any of their other speciality loaves that you won't necessarily see everywhere else. They also have delicious pastries - and their scones are HUGE! I love their raspberry cream cheese scone and will continue to order the different varieties that they have to offer. Solid, quick service and great food. This is easily one of my favorite bakeries in all of moco. I had the cinnamon roll (it was incredible, I did not expect it to be that good, easily my favorite item by far), the cream cheese brownie (amazing and delicious), and the gluten free carrot cake (it was okay but nothing special, wouldn't get again). This Spring Mill Bread is located in the Potomac Valley Shopping Center, across from Nothing Bundt and on the same side as Starbucks. There is plenty of parking in the lot, which can get crowded during people hours given the many establishments in the center. Luckily I don't live closer to Spring Mill Bread because this would be deadly. The challah bread (natural white, which is only available on Fridays) was soft, fluffy, and slightly sweet. Used it to make French toast, and also spread some almond butter or Nutella on it. So good! The size of the loaf was good and the price was cheaper than other bakeries in the area. The chocolate and almond croissants were also good, with the almond croissant being my favorite of the two. I also tried some of the apple turnover, which had a good amount of apples and wasn't too sweet. The blueberry crumble was tasty and made for a nice breakfast treat. I enjoyed everything I bought and service was friendly. Just wish they didn't run out of their chocolate chip scones. Guess that means I just have to come back again! read more

Spring Mill Bread Co. is our go-to place to pick up some fresh, fluffy, and tasty bread. The moment you walk in the door, the welcoming aroma of freshly baked bread greets you and the staff is always super friendly! They used to provide free samples, but it's understandable that they can't do that anymore with the pandemic. This time, we got a delicious pesto asiago bread, but the bread is always amazing no matter which one you get! The rolls are so soft (we always get the wheat) and the spinach and feta is fantastic! The croissants, turnovers, fruit pie slices, cherry cheesecake, rosemary shortbread, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are delicious! Funny enough though, I haven't been too crazy about their actual breads. Each time, they've been very dry. I like to stick to their sweets and savory pastries. The service varies though. Bakery is so clean and always smells so wonderful. We usually go on the weekend and see the same person tending the store. They are super friendly and has great recommendations when we can't decide what to get. We always find something that hits the spot! My little one loves the scones! The honey wheat is so tasty as are other breads, but the honey wheat is my favorite! It's not too sweet and has a great crumb. There was a wonderful baker here named Christina. She made the desserts and displayed everything so nicely . They were samples , there was a cute little table you could sit iat inside She made a great effort to make things look appealing. Sadly she has left the country The breads are probably still the same breads but all the special sweets she used to make are gone. There' is now an unattractive cooler to the right as you enter with Coca-Cola and other soft drinks. There's no more coffee to be had. This place is incredible! I had been to the spring mill on randolph road and wasn't impressed but this place was completely different! There were samples of many different types of desserts and pastries. The lady behind to counter was also patient and helpful even though I was taking so long to decide what to get.Everything is baked in house, and everything looked incredible, especially the desserts. I sampled a rosemary shortbread and had to get it after trying. I will definitely be back to try other desserts and maybe get a loaf or two. read more

Something happened to the bakery lately. I think the noticeable absence of management on-site is making a difference and not for the better. I got some mushroom turnovers today (usually one of my favorites), and the filling was completely wet! So much so it leaked through the bag. Inedible. Had to throw both of pastries away. There is also obvious lack of as many options as there have been offered in the past. I'm hoping this is just a holiday time kink and once the owner (manager?) returns things will be whipped back into shape. read more

I really have enjoyed everything I have tried here. The cherry turnover is delicious and made with real cherries and no gelatin like glaze. The spinach and feta turnover is spectacular!!! I was going to save it for later but it was piping hot so I had to have it right away. The lemonade is so delicious. Those are my three favorites so far! We also got the olive bread, apple turnover, blueberry turnover and lemon ginger biscuit. All good. I currently have German chocolate cake, almond pecan bar, almond croissant and chocolate croissant waiting to be eaten. The service is awesome as well. Very friendly lady. read more

Bought apple gallette, chocolate croissant, almond croissant and strawberry cream cheese scone.....DELICIOUS. Croissant wasn't too flaky, it was a buttery smooth delight. She baked The Best gluten free carrot cake I have ever eaten. I have celiac and I have eaten a lot of GF cakes. This gluten free carrot cake is off the charts good. Their peasant white bread (not gluten free version) is the best bread my son says he has ever had. The peasant bread makes killer toast too! Whatever you do don't go here. The bake goods are old and stale. We bought cranberry bread that no amount of butter could make it edible. We also bought a slice of coconut cake that was also very old and stale. My wife returned and was met with outrage from the owner claiming all their products are fresh. My absolute favorite is the Pesto Asiago, a moist, tender white loaf lovingly wrapped in a blanket of delicious pesto and zingy asiago cheese. My fiance and I love this bread so much, we can practically make a meal out it! Other yummy additions to this charming shop include locally-made preserves and fresh-baked scones, muffins, and cookies. A little disappointed this visit. I was expecting a fresh loaf of cinnamon bread. When I got home it seemed like I got a day old loaf. :-(

This place is only okay for me- but I very much like sweet, savory and flavorful in all my foods- inc breads. The cinnamon roll was tough, even when warmed up. It had a thin layer of frosting but was not the yummy, soft and cheese roll I had hoped for, there were no nuts, chocolates or anything else in it to give it more - more something. The bread itself was bland and not sweet. Next we had the fruit scones with bits of small tropical fruits. They were okay, but only okay. The bread again was dry and not sweetened - at all. I kept wishing the bunds cake store had been open. I also got coffee. Nothing special. It's a self serve press type canister near the entrance. Would have put it on par with 711 - but 711 has more syrup and creamer options. Overall, it is okay. Wouldn't go out of my way but might be curious to try something else.
