We came to Patrick's on the Hill for an dinner, and WOW -- everything was soooo good! We started with the jerk wings and Jamaican beef patties, and both were absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. But the Rasta Pasta with oxtails was the star of the meal! We learned that it's made from the owner's mom's recipe, which made it even more special. The oxtails were tender and flavorful, and the pasta was incredible. You can tell this is food made with love and family tradition. Our server was so kind, helpful, and welcoming and really made us feel at home. Between the amazing Jamaican food and the wonderful hospitality, this place is definitely worth a visit. So this restaurant is not the place to go if you're in a rush or have other appointments, because baby you gonna WAIT! It was a Sunday, and we were a group, no one else were in the restaurant but us and we still waited almost an hour. If it hadn't been for someone asking, we wouldn't have gotten any complimentary bread. We only got it because a friend said give us something if you gonna have us wait like this. We were hungry!! Now, outside of the wait, the food was good. This place isn't budget-friendly each plate is around $25 to $30, so keep that in mind. I'd honestly say skip the appetizers. The zucchini fries were just okay, and the other apps were aiight but not worth the money. Stick to the entrées; the oxtail was delicious, and so was the mac & cheese. Everyone enjoyed their food! Another friend had the avocado salad with shrimp, and they liked it too. They also enjoyed their drinks. I had the Miss T drink and it was okay, not bad, but for the price, it wasn't all that. It was more like juice than a drink drink. I highly recommend the oxtail and the salmon. Would I go back? Absolutely but on a day when I'm not rushing, and just got paid. Good Jamaican food isn't hard to come by in Harlem, but I wouldn't place Patrick's near the top of that list. We started with the OMG Wings and asked for all three sauces Jerk, BBQ, and Sweet & Sour mixed together. The sauce itself was pleasantly sweet, though not very spicy, but the chicken was unfortunately quite dry. For our entrées, we ordered the Rasta Pasta with shrimp and the Brown Stew Chicken. The Rasta Pasta was tasty, but it leaned more toward vegetables in a béchamel sauce and definitely lacked jerk seasoning. The shrimp, however, was cooked perfectly. The Brown Stew Chicken was another letdown: while the flavor was good, the chicken was again very dry, and there wasn't enough sauce to moisten the rice and peas. The rice and peas themselves were also lacking in flavor. Overall, I expected more at this price point especially with how expensive dining out has become. read more

I went with my boyfriend the other weekend to Patrick's On The Hill and I'm happy to have gotten to try the food! It was my first time trying oxtail and I'm in love lol! And the sweet plantain made my heart so happy! Jerk chicken was good too with a nice spice. Great macaroni and cheese also. The manager/owner Patrick was kind and attentive. I also really appreciated our server Antonio who had a good energy and gave us great recommendations with the menu. Inside is nice, with spacious tables and a nice rustic decor. I was not enthused. Try it for yourself and see if you like it. I noticed that the cooks were unprofessional by smoking outside before serving food. BAD look for this place. Service was very good and friendly. The food is about a 4-5 out 10, with 10 being the highest. Too much sauce on the chicken, like it was drowning. The oxtails were missing meat. I got a sandwich here a few weeks ago, the menu said $18. They charged me $20 plus a credit card fee that was not disclosed on the menu anywhere. I told them they have to charge what's on the menu and they can't just change prices and tack on fees. They could not figure out how to change it. I wrote void on the charge and paid cash. The charge went through anyway and I had to dispute it with my card company (which they refunded immediately since I had photos). I'll keep this short: The owner was extremely rude, and it was honestly the worst interaction I've ever had with a restaurant owner. The service was also very slow. My friend and I waited over 30 minutes for an appetizer of six wingettes that weren't even good. We ended up leaving before our entrées came, though we still paid for our lemonades and the appetizer. I have come here twice and both times were pleasant. I came last week for happy hour on Friday. Then I came gain this past Friday for dinner. When I came for dinner this past Friday it was a different experience. First our waiter was very busy so the service was slow. Then the food took a very long time. I wanted to leave but my friend said we already ordered. They do give complimentary bread which is quite good. Now we ordered appetizers and entrees. The appetizers were alright. The beef Pattie's were cold but we were hungry so we ate them. The appetizer platter we ordered was ok and my favorite part were the fried shrimps. I did not like the chicken wings, the sauce had an overwhelming taste of a spice which I could not identify. The entrees were ok as well. I ordered the stewed chicken with macaroni and cheese and cabbage. They did not bring out the cabbage and instead gave me rice and peas and macaroni and cheese. When I told the manager he brought out the cabbage. The cabbage was overcooked and not tasty at all. I am glad he made the mistake because the rice and peas were good. When we spoke to the manager he told us there were some unforeseen circumstances. He came to check on our table quite frequently. I do appreciate that the manager offered drinks on the house. The owners were also there and apologized for the delay. They opened just two weeks ago and I understand things can happen. So I will definitely go back and give it another try. I plan to go back for happy hour which has half off appetizers and cocktails. The place has a nice open space and the music playing was nice. Welcome to the neighborhood Patrick's on the Hill! I came by on a Friday evening after work excited to try your place for the first time. The ambiance was nice, dim lighting, low playing classic r&b and reggae music and not too busy of a crowd - it was a very chill low key vibe. Overall there were some things I liked and a few areas that could be improved. I liked that the wait staff, managers/owners were pleasant, attentive and accommodating. This goes a long way and matters to patrons so excellent job on making me feel welcome. Areas to work on are speed, food portion size and preparation. I waited close to an hour for chicken wings, brussels sprouts, rice and peas which is too long and the place wasn't crowded (maybe 8-12 patrons). Especially when I noticed someone else who walked in after me being served ahead of me - not good! This patron pays attention to things like that and it can make me think twice about coming back again. You did offer warm white bread with seasoning on it while I waited which curbed my appetite but it was a little underwhelming. Since this is a Jamaican restaurant some mini version of coco bread was more of what I was expecting when offered "warm bread"- this might be something for you to consider in the future. Once the food arrived the wings and the sprouts were hot and delicious but the rice and peas was subpar. The rice and peas portion was way too small, it tasted crunchy (as in not fresh), the flavor was bland and its temperature was noticeably cooler than the rest of the meal. One of the owners Patrick personally got me a new order of rice and peas within minutes and it was hot and tender but the flavor was still bland! You also offered me a second ginger beer free of charge. Both accommodating gestures made up for the shortcomings. As someone who has lived in the neighborhood for years - I want to see you succeed - which is why I'm giving 4 stars and not 3! We love having varied restaurant options close to home but the competition is stiff and you've got to make us want you! There are at least 2-3 other Jamaican restaurants in the area who may not offer the dine in option but their food is good and the portions are bigger for less money. I spent over $65 and didn't even have a cocktail so you gotta give me a reason to come back. I don't mind spending money for excellent food - increase that rice and peas portion size and make sure it's hot and fresh, and do something to give it more flavor. Also reconsider that warm white bread for some mini coco bread and work on your wait time - almost an hour to wait for a meal is unacceptable. We had been waiting for a replacement in the space formerly occupied by favorite THE GRANGE to appear and after some soft openings, PATRICK's ON THE HILL (A correction needs to be made to their listing here on Yelp for the correct name!) is beginning to gain some steam. We had heard only mixed reviews from others for their first couple of weeks and decided to try for ourselves. We are delighted to report, "PATRICK'S" is going to be a hit - once discovered by locals. Their space remains basically that of THE GRANGE, which really is a plus as the GRANGE interiors have always been favored (and they have eliminated the sticky table tops that plagued the GRANGE), but that's where the similarity ends. After being enthusiastically greeted by Brandon, PATRICK's offers delicious Jamaican fare - and while their initial menu is somewhat limited, what we tried was absolutely fulfilling. I started with their bite-sized Jamaican beef patties, the slightly spiced filling very satisfying. They came out hot with a nice flaky crust. For entrees I opted for the Brown Stew Chicken which was as rich & flavorful as the menu promised. My partner, a huge salmon fan, was won over by the Pineapple Jerk Salmon. We both enjoyed the steamed cabbage and mixed veggie side (2 offered per entree) and the house salad was fresh with a delicate dressing. Her roasted brussel sprouts were also a nice addition. Drink pours were significant - always a plus and the very attentive service from Nelly was spot on. We're already looking forward to our next visit! read more
