They were sent out by AHS to check out my water heater. I knew I needed a new water heater so when the guy told me I needed another one I wasn't concerned. He told me he would have my paperwork sent to me and AHS before he left my driveway. I called AHS toe next day to try and get my service started and they said they just got the estimate that morning. So I called back to Patriots plumbing to question of why it just got put in when the tech reassured me it would be put in the prior day. The receptionist that answered the phone got smart with . I just said ok and hug up. I was on my phone and they beeped in about 1-2 minutes after being on the phone with them and said they got approval for my water heater but over $1000 plus was not covered. I got upset and said I would contact AHS who said they had not sent out the approval yet. I asked AHS toe next call the company and they told the person at AHS customer service they had to get with the department about the fees. They already knew what AHS would not approve so they add those fees to get more money out of the customers. I had my friend who installs hot water heater look at what they said was needed and he said I didn't need all the stuff that patriots plumbing said I needed. When AHS told me the cost of uncovered parts it was only $515 and they had parts that I didn't need. The part I needed was over priced by about $200. I got the pars needed to do the job and it only cost me $26. My friend put in the hot water tank and the tank and parts only cost me about $530. Compared to all that they said it would cost was a rip off. The covered and uncovered parts that I needed cost less than the cost of what they said of the uncovered cost. This company is a disgrace to the plumbing business. AHS always uses these trash companies and don't realize they taking from them and their customers. I'm gonna repot them to the BBB for their shady practices. If you need plumbing don't use patriots plumbing llc because you'll get the worst escalated prices you can get. The absolute worst. They were contracted by my home warranty to come and clear a plumbing stoppage that backed into both my upstairs bathroom toilets. When the gentleman came out, he said the line was clear and nothing needed to be done. I asked if he would snake it and he said not needed. Two days later same issue resurfaced. When I called them, they stated they could not come out for TWO days. I had to end up calling another plumbing company. If I could give 0 stars, I would. This company was sent to my house by AHS. Technician was very rude...took very little time to try and unstop my sewer pull out. Told us we needed a new secondary pull out....estimated $1,800. I called the dispatch and was told the $1,800 could be split half on a credit card,...and the other half in CASH! Seriously?? I decided to get a second opinion on my own...not through AHS. So I had my water heater go out and the Warrenty Company I have assigned Patriot Plumbing. They came out and assessed the issue and I was happy with what they decided. I was getting a new water heater but would have to pay to upgrade to code. The issue I have is the work that was done and the amount I was charged or what I was charged for. The "Master Installer" I feel did a horrible job with aligning the water heater where it would be better placed. also a screw that holds the vent in the wall was not screwed all the way in and trash was left at the job site. I emailed and called many time with out them answering. they also charged me 65 dollars for 4 cinder blocks, when the charge or receipt says stand. I was charged 215.00 dollars for 12" of pipe. If 0 stars was an option, I would have selected that. Like many other reviewers, Patriot Plumbing was hired to repair our grinder pump under the house by American Home Shield. This was the third time they had come to our home to try and repair the issue. We noticed the smell under the house again and again found our pump to be leaking. Because we were frustrated with them, we called another local company. They responded quickly (within the hour!) and assessed the problem. What they found was that while we were charged $2600 for a 1-2 horsepower grinder pump, what the technician installed was a $60 1/2 horsepower submersible pump. I am wondering what they did with the additional $2,540... In addition to this review, I am also filing a complaint with the BBB and the State of Virginia DPOR that is responsible for licensing contractors. I have placed a call to Patriot, but, of course, they only answer the phone and call people back during "normal working hours"- because plumbing issues ALWAYS happen during "normal working hours". If they are unable to refund us not only the $2600 from the last time, all of the money we had to pay today to get an actual qualified technician to replace the pump, the cost of the CORRECT pump, we will be taking this issue to a local attorney. read more

February 28,2024 patriot plumbing came out to my home due to my home warranty company American home shield. I was told I needed a new gas hot water heater couple days later 2 males show up in no uniform and unmarked trucks. They installed the water heater. Fast forward 6 weeks later I am painting my mudroom where the water heater is located and I see on the backside the water heater is damaged dented on the top which can only be seen while standing on a ladder. I call American Home Shield they say I have to call patriot plumbing next day I call and I get told it's over 30 days but they will see what the owner says. Owner is Steve Compton. supposedly Steve calls AHS. AHS has no record of him calling. Steve tell his office staff since AHS cannot do anything he refuses to do anything even though his company purchased and installed the damaged water heater. Madison Stover who is an office employee of Steve Compton begins to tell me Steve is not in the office because like most owners they do not need to show up that is why they hire employees like Walmart.... Madison stover tries to compare patriot plumbing to Walmart..... Needless to say Steve Compton owner of patriot plumbing does not care if his employees do crappy work. As long as we put money in his pockets to he can sit around and get paid. Looks like our story matches up with what everyone here is saying. AHS assigned Patriot plumbing to us to check our water heater. After inspection, it was determined that a replacement was needed. It also cam to light that I would need $1700 extra out of pocket and that they needed it in cash only and paid in full before work is started. I called AHS and explained that they should have known the payment policy their vendor chooses(they claim is out of their control) I asked for a second contractor but was told it would be a new work order and i have to pay the $100 fee. At this point, I'm considering the cash out option and finding my own plumber. Patriot did call back and offered to take half today and half the day they show up prior to starting the job. The technician arrived yesterday and my first impression, he was not dressed very professional. As we started the process I became concerned about his behavior as I explained the issue. Horrible company. Horrible service. Contacted via American Home Shield. Request in january. first appt was a no show. 2nd appt Steve put in new hot water heater and stated we needed an expansion tank. the company will not take any checks or credit cards. After paying $460 cash out of pocket for the additional plumbing, have called back twice because the valve on the top of the tank is still leaking. Now I'm told I have to contact the manufacturer because the "tank is defective and in warranty". I explained to Patriot that this was a new unit, and if it was defective when installed, they need to contact the manufacturer. Steve told me he had already ordered the replacement unit after his 2nd repair visit and said it would be next week before the new tank could be installed due to his schedule. Now I'm being told I have to contact the manufacturer. I will be out more money as I'm getting other plumbers to look at the tank and see if the tank is actually defective, or Steve stripped the pressure valve. (where it is leaking). I have also contacted the Better business bureau. Will be seeking legal action and reporting AMS to the insurance agencys as well as Patriot to any and all plumbers associations. They once again assigned this company who came by and again said there is no problem because they flushed the toilet 20x and did not see water coming. Mind you the water damage to the floorboards is obvious and when you touch it it is wet. They said there is no issue identified. I requested to transfer this work order to another company and they said they can't because there is no issue. This company was assigned to us through our home warranty company. After having to reach out to them a few times to get something scheduled, someone finally came over. They only diagnosed the issue due to my pushing that there was a leak in the wall (which was noticeable due to water damage on the floor, baseboards etc). After them cutting into the wall and seeing water damage due to a leak they left without fixing anything stating "keep an eye on it and call us when you know where the leak is coming from" I called them the next day, after sending videos and confirming the leak. scheduled a new day/time to have a technician come fix it. This company works for American Home Shield and will go out of their way to charge YOU and not allow American Home Shield to obey their contract agreement. For instance, if you anode rod in the water heater goes bad and causes a smell, they will say a "SMELL" is not covered under the warranty. However, under gold shield AHS warranty it clearly states in section 5, all components are covered for water heaters. An Anode rod is a component of a water heater. This is a biases company, they get all of their work from American Home Shield. Terrible company read more

Every experience I've had with Patriot Plumbing has been horrible as it relates to my home warranty coverage. They have been assigned to me by American Home Shield twice and always state "damage not due to normal wear and tear". This leads to me having to get a second opinion to prove the damage is due to normal wear and tear. I believe this company works for the warranty company to prevent them from covering your damages. Our washer drain has been backing up and spilling into the garage. I called my home warranty company, who sent Patriot Plumbing to fix the issue. All they did was attempt to run snake from the washer drain. The first snake couldn't reach the blockage, and the second couldn't get to it because "the pipes are too small". When they left they reported to the home warranty company that the pipe needs to be replaced. This is not covered by the home warranty, of course. It would cost $2600 to boot. Also, whatever Patriot Plumbing did, the issue seems to have gotten much worse since they were here. The last time the drain backed up the plumber got up on the roof and ran a snake down through the roof vent, and they were able to clear the blockage. The technician that I talked to said that they can't do that. I will not be using their services again! read more

Home Shield sent this company out to fix my water heater. I have been told everything to me from the holes are clog and they fixed it. Next no hot water sent someone else was told the temperature was set to high and it caused the burner to go out. 3 days later again no hot water was told it is a gas line issue and I need to call the gas company. No problem with the gas line. Today again no hot water. I called Home Shield about the issue with this company and they told me that they (Home Shield) vets every company and they stand behind the company. When and if this problem gets fix I will be cancelling my Home Shield. read more

The initial home warranty call was to fix the front of the house outside faucet.  However, before he did that, the technician checked the water pressure and it was determined that the water pressure at my house was too high.  This led to a non-warranty work order that I agreed to and paid for out of pocket ($350).  This non-warranty work order installed a Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV) in series with the Main water valve.  This installation required a hole to be cut in my wall, two ball valves and a PRV to be installed.  At this point I assumed that since Patriot Plumbing cut a hole in my wall that Patriot Plumbing would ensure repair to the wall allowing access to the isolation valves and PRV is provided.  This has yet to happen on the non-warranty work order.  This non-warranty work was complete some time ago. The warranty work was completed as well which would close out the order from my home warranty company. My wall needs to be repaired and acces to the isolation valves and PRV provided.  Please advise as to how this issue is going to be corrected. Patriot Plumbing responded to my email by saying the following: "we are not responsible for repair of drywall you would need a drywall contractor for that" Do not use Patriot Plumbing of Yorktown although their technician was very capable the companies follow through to fix my wall was unsatisfactory and unacceptable. I will be asking my Home Warranty company to take them off of the Hamptonroads list for Plumbing. read more

First off I was referred by the AHS and they set the appointment for next day. When they arrived it was two young techs that was more interested in my yorkie puppies rather than what they were paid to do. The guy rigged the toilet to flush and stated I needed a new toilet and it would cost 500 dollars. The plumber that came out said it was the inner seal- not repairable. The office manager said it was the bend in the flu.... No clue codes have changed in over the last decade. Ultimately cost us more in the long run. Their office manager even went as far as to pretend to be someone else on the phone when I asked for her supervisor. American Home Shield sent one of their contractor Patriot plumbers out to install a garbage disposal. Once the plumber arrived he stated that I needed a new sink and new brackets and that he didn't feel comfortable installing it. He smelled like an ashtray, he was totally disrespectful to my house by leaving the door open multiple times when the temperature is 32° outside and had an overall smartass attitude. He left and I ordered a garbage disposal from Lowe's and installed it in under 2 hours and it now works with no leaks and I did not need a new sink. It was very obvious that the gentleman(Rusty I think )and I use that loosely had no interest in working, but only showed up so he can get paid. I checked the reviews before they came out but it wasn't up to me, American Home Shield sent them out, and their reviews are 100% accurate I will not recommend this company for any type of Plumbing work from my home ever again or to any of my family and friends. Had them come out to my house for a sump pump repair (like many here, recommended by AHS). They recommended my husband and I evacuate our house, stop all water use, have the crawl space completely drained and then come back because of "sewage" in our crawl space. There was maybe 1" of rain water runoff located in approximately 5 sf of the total crawl space. Michael & Sons came and fixed it in the span of 1 hour. I am unable to rate them lower, which they deserve. The plumber arrived and accessed the situation. I was informed that he had to special order the p trap (Liar). The technician departed stating that when the p trap came in he would return, two days later my home warranty company notified me that the technician reported to them that the damage was not normal wear and that the repair would not be covered. I didn' t hire these clowns the home warranty company did. My recommendation is to avoid these people like they have leprosy. They took 4 weeks to order a replacement sump pump, tried charging me $2,200 after American home shield "covered" their original diagnosis and they came back and said it was a different issue than they originally thought. I canceled AHS, did not agree to pay them, had another plumber come out that not only fixed the problem within an hour (it's working perfectly now), but charged $300. I saved $1,900 and will warn every friend, family member, and acquaintance in the area to never use them. Absolutely insane. Still deciding if I want to file a formal complaint and fraud alert. Will probably happen since the "invoice" I got from them was a typed email with misspelled words and poor punctuation. At least I have proof. read more
