I'm a regular at Patron and I'm proud to say it. I moved into the neighborhood about a year ago and this has felt like an extension of home ever since. The food is spectacular, I mean seriously truly phenomenal. I'm waiting for my food as I write this and I'm basically drooling at my phone. They nail it every time. And don't even get me started on the service. They treat me like family. Venita greets us at the door with such warmth we immediately forget why we were ever debating about where to eat. After an off-broadway show my friend and I popped into this restaurant for a quick bite. The main reason we chose this place was its all-day happy hour featuring $5 margaritas frozen or rocks, $2 more for a flavored margarita and $8 pina coladas. The grill was busy when we got there, as the location is easy to get to. We were seated and ordered margaritas and food. The service was slow at times and it took more than 15 minutes to get 2 margaritas on the rocks. The food came out soon after our drinks. The food was good and the presentation was simple. They automatically added an 18% tip for a party of 2. This was super disappointing as I thought the service was mediocre at best. The overall experience was very basic in comparison to many Mexican eateries in New York City. I'm not sure if I would come back to this grill. read more

walked in and got a table, and really enjoyed the food. The ambiance is better in the back than the front, and they have a garden if you prefer outdoor seating. The service was good, though water pouring could have been more efficient and sometimes things like hot sauce were hard to get and there was occasional confusion (eg wrong dishes to wrong tables). But they were very friendly and fixed things when told. I've been coming to this place for years since its by my work. The main draw is the drinks. They have these creative, 20oz + booze-filled cocktails both on the rocks and frozen. They're usually filled with flavors/puree and candy such as gummy penguins, lollipops and more. They're usually very tasty and strong. On weekdays there is a happy hour for 9oz $5 maragritas on the rocks or frozen. Three of them equal about the same or more ounces as one of their giant margaritas but for a cheaper price. Just 2 can get you woozy. As for the food, I find that a lot of their items lack flavor. I've tried the nachos, guac, quesadillas, fajitas, and more. The fajitas don't have much flavor, besides the actual taste of the peppers and onions. The steak could use something more, even just salt. The service is also a little inconsistent. You'll be cared for initially but then it's like they forget about you after. Its hard to call someone over because they're always zooming by fast or the music is loud and they can't hear you. This place gets lively past 5pm. They've always seemed to have a consistent crowd. If you sit at the bar and make friends with the staff, something they'll give you a shot. Even though the food has mixed reviews for me, I'll still keep coming back because it is a fun spot with good drinks. read more

A friend and I were looking for a place to have drinks before parting ways and heading to our homes. We stopped at Patron Mexican Grill after being pleasantly invited in by two patrons. Unfortunately their hospitality would not be replicated by the bartender. My friend and I sat at the bar for nearly ten minutes without anyone acknowledging or addressing us. Not even a "Someone will be right with you." When the bartender (who seemed like he was intentionally trying to avoid eye contact ) walked near our end of the bar, I tried to get his attention. He looked over and put a finger up to signal he'd be with us soon. My friend and I sat for what felt like another nearly ten minutes when I had to flag him down again. "What happened, did you forget about us?" I tried to joke. Surprisingly, he said "I did!" Even after I reminded him earlier he still "forgot" about us and didnt even offer a courtesy drink, discount, nothing. There wasn't even a sense of urgency to remedy his poor customer service. My friend and I are African-American so it felt like maybe he didnt want to serve Black people. We asked him if they served Black people and he never answered. He just said, "Do you still want drinks?" In any case, we didnt feel welcomed or well received at Patron Mexican Grill. It could just be VERY POOR customer service but this may not be a safe space for Black folk. read more

Interestingly enough, this cute spot did not pop up on our Yelp when we were looking for a place but, thankfully we walked passed it & the vibe called us in the staff were all so friendly and attentive. Could be slightly crowded, however, again - it's a vibe! If you're not looking for good energy, fun music mixed with great drinks and food, keep it movin. There's a really cute outdoor/patio section that's only open on weekends - would've loved to have chilled out there as the inside can get hot with no AC. So I have been here in the past and liked the food. So we decided to try it again. I didn't have any drinks the last time and we saw a huge menu for a variety of drinks. We tried the house tequila and a house margarita on the rocks. I must say I was hugely disappointed. It didn't even taste like real lime juice in the margarita. And the tequila was okay but nothing great. I've had better house infused tequila with pineapple or other fruit that tasted better. Now or appetizers. OMG you must try the guacamole. So fresh so delicious and just the right blend of lime and cilantro. Absolutely fabulous. Chips were crunchy and flour based which might be a turn of for some. But the appetizer was great. Main course we got fajitas. And in all reality it all barely fit on the outdoor table. Hot sizzling and good. I have had more flavorful but they fit the bill and were satisfying. I had a very strong and tasty Henny Colada, complete with coconut flakes. I also tried the Henny Sangria, which came topped with chopped apple.
