We went against our better judgement and ignored the negative reviews for this place. Did we like the products/brands they carry? Yes. But everything went downhill after we placed our order. First, on the day our house was to be measured for the carpet install they showed up an hour late. The guy looked like he just had a game of golf. Then they double booked us even though we informed them we were working around the schedules of our painters and movers. They only sent one guy to work on the entire install. He was late from the other job and refused to finish according to what we had agreed on. I'm not upset at the worker considering he was overworked and came from another install he was tasked to do alone as well. Management knew how upset and inconvenienced we were and basically said too bad. Their installer comes back an extra day and the entire job was rushed. The seams of the carpet pieces are totally visible and not blended properly. They didn't even tell him the correct instructions. Our closets were gutted even though we specified we weren't changing the carpet in the closets. Overall, it was an awful experience and the ones running this sham showed no sense of concern and under delivered. Don't trust this place. read more

I purchased luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and Pat and the installation crew initially quoted 4 days for demolishing the existing Spanish tile in my home and installing the new floor. The crew rushed the job and finished project in 3 days rather than four and the new floor was disintegrating under our feet within a month of the job getting done. I went back into Pat's showroom and was told that the tile manufacturer was to blame, but this was not the case. The floor was not properly leveled and that is the reason that the new cork backed LVT tiles broke. It took nearly one year for the job to get repaired and Pat pushed the entire expense onto the tile manufacturer was unfair of him. It was a major inconvenience that I had to remove all of the furniture, railings and baseboard moldings from my living room and kitchen before the new floor could be installed. Pat's daughter, Amber, asked me to get a quote for the job which I did, and then I never heard back from them. I called their shop two days before the new floor was scheduled to be installed and confirmed that the job was indeed still scheduled. It was not very professional that I had to contact them to do this. Then the afternoon before the installer was coming Pat called and sarcastically asked, "how much of this estimate do you expect me to pay?". He had the estimate for over a month and only called after the work was completed by my handyman, and then he short paid the bill and stiffed my worker. He then had the gall to tell me that, "I'm lucky that he even replaced the floor." Pat's attitude was uncalled for and he should just retire. He blamed everyone except for himself for the unprofessional job that was done at my house. I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone to do business with him. His daughter and her colleagues in the shop are nice, but Pat's name is on the business and the buck stops with him. To put it nicely, Pat is a first-class jerk. read more

So I found Pats Carpet on Yelp, and decided to give them a try. I went on their website and found the absolute best carpet for our room. So I went down to the showroom and was greeted by a very professional young lady that helped us find the carpet I saw on their website. We priced it out with all the options I wanted. Now they weren't the cheapest, which is fine. I don't mind spending a little extra for good quality and service. And that's EXACTLY what I received from Pats. They came out the same day to measure, to make sure my measurements were correct, and they installed the next day!!! Installation was quick and accurate. I couldn't have been more pleased. If your looking for a place to do a job that will start to fall apart 15 months after installation this is the place to shop. I had twelve thousand floor done in my home and to have it falling apart is crazy. I contact them about repairing the issue that is obviously caused by poor installation not product. Uneven flooring, uneven spacing, poor transitions between rooms. When the first round of samples didn't get me to 'love' for any, they helped me go through what I liked and didn't like about what I had picked and we did a second round of samples. They were up front with there lead time, and how long it would take before they were ready for install. The Installer Eddie was clean and did a great job. Watch out for this place. They treat you rel nice until they get the sales. Then after that, down hill all the way. Order some flooring and after getting home and searching on line the vynil flooring pattern was not what we wanted or ordered. So first thing next morning went there to cancel order. Picked out another style. Sales lady said it would be the same price yet it was a total different style. Na Na . Then asked for a credit on my card for the order we canceled. Was told only this person( that was not there) could give the credit for had to use the machine in the office. After several days still no credit so went the and meet Pat. He was kind of rude. Asked for a written of proof the order was canceled. He hastly wrote a note saying cedit would be giving on orginial invoice with a very light color yellow high lighter. Not a pen. Still no credit on my card. So was forced to file an appeal with card company. after to many messages, e mail. no responce. Ten days latter they did give me credit. I just do not trust this place. Was looking to install around 800 sq ft in our home. Went to a few places, including lumber liquidators, floor & decor and Home Depot. My husband and I wanted to find something local and support a small business. We didn't need someone to install, we only needed material. I did a Google search and found this place very close to home. Called them up and asked a few questions and Kelly was very welcoming over the phone. We went in and immediately knew that we wanted to make our purchase with Pat's. Kelly, Amber, and Jill got right down to business once I told them what we were looking for. I showed them pictures of our paint, couch, etc. and they laid out several samples for us to choose from. We wanted luxury vinyl as we have had that in the past and it works for our family. We narrowed it down to the perfect color with much of their help. We were on a time crunch as our install was scheduled for the next day. Kelly immediately called their wholesaler to see if they had our selection in stock. They did and she even reserved a box (no upfront charge) for us to go pick up and lay out in our house to see how it flowed. The process was smooth, our product was picked up at will call by our installers. We had no hiccups and I'm grateful we found this family owned business. I even ran into a bind when we ran out and needed another box. Kelly was great; reserved it right away and conveniently allowed us to complete the charge via phone. definitely a big fat 1. originally wanted to give this establishment at least a 2 because of donna, a sweet lady who helped me at the front desk. but unfortunately it's too steep of a downhill from here. ironically donna and i were chatting about the yelp on my way out of the store, and the significance yelp has had on businesses. i even joked how the slight wait in-store wouldn't cost a star on my review. but what did was how i was scheduled for an hour time slot to get my rooms measured the following day, only to find out after calling in after that hour was up that pat (measurer and owner) had already come several hours prior. (i don't live there yet, but one of our renovation workers had apparently let him in.) so strike 1, pat didn't see it fit to call me to let me know he'd already come in. would've saved me a trip to the house. strike 2, next day pat quotes me at $1000 more than what i calculated. a week prior over the phone, he initially claimed that they price-match, which is the only reason i decided to check them out tin first place. so how could i now be so off (nearly $20 more per square yard). he says my measurements were a significant underestimate - that i "wasn't even close." so much for price-matching a quote i received elsewhere. i took my business elsewhere and saved $700 for the exact same line of carpet. btw dont fall for their gimmick of an underlayment pad with double-sided waterproofing ($0.50 more per sqyd). i was told by another place it's not worth it. finally, so discouraged i didn't even bother asking for my $50 back. oh yes, they charge that much for simply coming out and waving their tape measure around. for that much they could at least tell you what their measurements were. but no, when i asked pat, he replied, "well, we try not to give our customers too much information." ??!??!?!?! strike 3, you're out, pat's "discount" carpet. read more

I had gotten a quote from them to do a full installation of flooring in our home. The price was decent but not great. I ended up finding another installer that was recommended by my contractor and the price for material and labor was slightly less than Pat's. After speaking with the owner he said that he could sell me the material much cheaper than my contractor if I paid cash. So I went ahead and purchased the material from Pat's and had the other contractor do the installation. It all turned out great but my only complaint is that the owner's attitude and communication style is less than professional. Even though I sent him my phone number and requested him to call me at least 10 times, he would only communicate with me via email (after my initial visit to the store). Once I said I wanted to order the material, he was rushing me to get him the cash payment or else the deal wouldn't be honored as he could only do the price because he was buying my material with some other orders. After asking me to meet him at a golf course and give him the money then saying he was going to cancel my order (after he already said he placed the order) and telling me that HE was doing me a favor, I almost cancelled the deal myself. My wife had to take time off of work and meet him at their office even though they were closed. My wife wasn't comfortable giving a large amount of cash to someone at their office by themselves but he left us no other choice. So the bottom line is that I did end up getting exactly what I ordered at a great price but the overall experience was lacking in customer service. In my opinion, Pat's needs to learn that the customer is always right and you bend over backwards for them not just for this order, but for the next one and any ongoing referrals. Would I recommend Pat's to someone else...I'd say yes but only with a footnote...if you can put up with the owner being a jerk to get a better price then go for it. read more

Don't trust Pat, I had a very frustrating experience with him. He came to my house to give me a quote for carpet and bathroom tiles in whole house. When I went to his store all I received was a single number, with no backup or breakdown. When I got another quote from a larger store on State College in Anaheim for the exact same products, they were 40% less for same work. When I asked Pat to share his breakdown of my job, he refused. The other company did an excellent job. Don't trust Pat, get 2 or 3 quotes to keep him honest, and demand a breakdown of labor and materials. read more

I am working on a project with very specific needs and went to Pat's because supporting local business is especially important to me right now. The young lady associate I initially spoke with was very friendly and helpful and provided me with great samples. I was happy to spend a considerable amount for even this small space because I thought I was getting exactly what I needed. When I placed my order over the phone I spoke with the manager. We discussed the space and I gave her the exact dimensions. She did the math and ordered my piece for cash and carry. After I returned to the warehouse in Cypress a second time because the hours she gave me were incorrect, I immediately saw the carpet I paid for was the wrong size and would definitely not work in the space. I went to Pat's fully expecting to hear it was a mistake at the warehouse and could be easily fixed, and was instead told very rudely and aggressively by the manager that it was, in fact, my fault. There are plenty of inconsistencies (the pad I ordered at the same time was the correct size so my information couldn't have been too far off, right?) that support the idea that the professional carpet salesperson would be at fault here, rather than the customer. Even more than having to eat the cost on a completely useless piece of carpet, being berated by the manager ensured that I will never shop there, and discourage everyone I can from making the same costly mistake as I did in trusting Pat's. read more

I received a discount card for $500 is in the mail and decided to check out Pat's Designer Floors. When I walked into the store I was greeted very pleasantly and Pat himself happened to be there. I told him what I was looking for and we made an appointment for him to come to my home. He gave me some fabulous ideas and I was extremely pleased. I had vinyl flooring and new carpeting installed throughout the whole house. Everything went as planned. The installers were wonderful and always on time. They were very helpful, organized, frief2fndly and did a fabulous job In my opinion, they were worth their weight in gold. I love what Pat suggested for my home and I am so grateful that I walked into the store that day. I would highly recommend this business. I have already referred him to some friends and they had their home carpeted by Pats and were beyond satisfied. Besides being thrilled with the way my home turned out, it was a pleasure working with Pat and Amber who could not have been more kind and helpful. I am this a one star because there is nothing lower. I though sure I will support the little guy and not get my carpet from Home Depot. Big mistake. The owner was was not a nice person and does not know how to deal with people. We had our carpet installed by them which does look good I will say that but the process was terrible and very unprofessional. We scheduled a date and time and they never showed up. We changed our entire Saturday schedule to wait and they no showed. I called Pat and he blamed the crew and was not even owner enough to take the blame himself. We were very upset so he agreed to reschedule and give us $85.00 off the price. The reschedule was for the immediate Monday. They came and installed the carpet and only took $35.00 off the bill. When I confronted Pat at his shop he said he never gave me that quote and if he did I should have got it in writing. Unprofessional. I left his shop fuming and never wanting to return. I later received a letter stating and I quote. "I am, as a consideration to this unfortunate event, willing to offer you a discount on any future (really future, like I would use you again) order exceeding $1000.00 the total amount of $85.00 off of that purchase." There is more but you get the gist. So to get compensated on bad business I have to spend more. I do not think so. Go ahead take a chance but not me. Never again. read more
