No joking, Johnny Sac was eating a veal chop at the table next to me. Just part of the charm from this casual spot unlike any other in the area. If you're feeling Man v. Food, go for the spicy marinara. If you're from the city don't come here because you ain't invited. Only people from Jersey. "T-Shirt time". I come to Patsy's for octopus: huge, tender, nicely seasoned chunks of grilled octopus over mixed green salad, with some balsamic sauce on top. Yes, Patsy's serve great shrimp and calamari pastas, plentiful steamers and mussels, yummy tiramisu, etc, but their octopus beats Arthur Avenue or LES Italian spots. I took my mom to Patsy's for her 73rd Bday. Not many choices to choose from the menu. She ordered the Chicken Theresa, very bland. They didn't have vegetables for a side order (Never heard of a restaurant that didn't carry veggies.... Strange!). My son ordered the Sirloin Steak, was fatty & accompanied w/ only 3 onion rings. I ordered the Seafood Diablo over linguini, was fishy not fresh. Too many onions & peppers. Chef dumped a can of crushed peppers. Took 3 bites & didn't touch my food after. Waiter ask if everything was ok, told him I was dissatisfied. He didn't apologize or offered another dish on the menu. We also ordered appetizers: cold (fishy) clams. A tiny small plate of fried calamari was also served for one person. not a large plate for 3. Total was $166.65 + an additional fee of $4.17 if you don't pay cash. This is not even including the tip. My worse experience ever dining out and believe I've dine in thousands & thousands of restaurants in NJ and out of state. Will never ever dine here again! Will try the Korean BBQ next door soon. So, this place is legit! I mean, it's like walking into an episode of The Sapranos, but classier. Patsy's has been around forever. The waiter off the bat said it's been around for over 33 years and it's reflected in the decor, the amazing authentic food, and great service. First, the decor is amazing. They have a beautiful dining area for private parties and the main dining room is exquisite. The waiter is a great guy who made sure everything was perfect. Unbeatable service is all I can really say about Patsy's. Very knowledgeable on the menu as well as great recommendations. Trust him, he knows what he is talking about. We started with the Crab cake appetizer with the Arugula salad. 10/10! Deliciously seasoned and wasn't deep fried so it tasted fresh and lightly creamy which kept the dish light and tasty. For main courses, Seafood fra diovolo and tortellini with panceta, mushrooms and pink vodka sauce. The fra diovolo was good but I feel it could have been a little more seasoned. The ingredients were fresh however so I give the dish a B+. The tortellini was amazing. *WARNING* Be prepared to get the itus quick because this dish is heavy! I think I had three bites and my pancreas was calling uber to go home! The sauce was to die for and the panceta complemented the sauce perfectly. It had chunks of chicken breast which balanced the pasta with a good portion of protein. Overall an A for Patsy's in Fairview. After over 30 years off patronizing Patsys Clam Bar, now Patsys Bistro. We are very disappointed in the direction this place has gone. On Fathers Day ,2019 we were seated and waited for service. No water was brought to the table and after about 10 minutes a waiter arrived and asked about drinks. We reminded him to bring table to the table. Short on wait staff and our waiter did not seem able to handle our table of seven. We were one of the first tables to be seated and on a day with a limited menu one of the items were not available????. The portions have shrunk while the prices have risen. Not the same Patsys!! Food was without flavor and while the gravy was still the same it has lost its heat. Hot gravy should be HOT! One one of our party out of seven truly enjoyed their meal. Will not be returning after so many years of patronizing this establishment. And this was a return trip after a disaster of a Christmas Eve dining experience. So sad to see this place go down hill. read more

4.5 stars based on one visit. I can't believe I never tried this place before because I live only two minutes away. This is an old school Italian place. The decor could probably use a little updating (and the waiters are wearing outdated Tuxes) but what really matters is the food and service and they do both very well here. I was impressed with the quality of their seafood (they have a huge selection of seafood dishes on the menu) and their fra diavolo sauce was some of the best i've ever had. Their house wine, the Montepulciano was also very good. I feel like their prices are just a tad high for the area. read more

The place to go for the calamari, shrimp, oysters - all beautifully (and greaselessly) fried and served with a red sauce that makes me salivate just thinking about it. The sauce comes sweet, spicy medium or blistering hot. I never got past medium My spouse usually orders one of the more traditional seafood dishes, all of which have been ocean fresh and perfectly cooked. We have to drive 30-40 minutes to get there but Patsy's saves us a trip into Manhattan and the cost of tolls and parking. I am generally critical of Bergen County restaurants but the food here compares very favorable to what the Big Apple has to offer. read more

First let me state that I am 100% Italian. My parents are from Basilicata and Puglia. I know what Italian food should be and taste like. Oh boy, where do I start. First of all the butter to bread ratio was 20:1. We received 20 butters for every 1 piece of bread in our basket. We ordered house salads that were swimming in dressing. That ratio was 30:1. That made for a soggy salad. The baked clams appetizer was also soggy and had a strong fishy aroma. Very pungent. Our entrees were also sub-par. I've had better Italian at Olive Garden to be honest. The pasta was way over cooked, almost a glue like texture. My date's pasta was also very gluey. Their version of sauce in many dishes seems to be a bruschetta like diced tomato substance. Not very appealing both visually or taste wise. My linguini with clams and shrimp had tough clams and one shrimp cut into 17 pieces. This isn't an exaggeration. Our server seemed to throw out plates on the table on a very rapid fashion. Not very welcoming. They even managed to mess up an espresso. It was watery with no cream. I've also had better espresso at Olive Garden. To top it off, they only accept American Express credit and debit cards only. No sign posted anywhere in the restaurant for these accepted forms of payment. I even had to follow the hostess to the credit card machine to punch in my PIN #. Not a good experience at all. Good thing I tried it out before taking my father and 20 others here to celebrate his 70th birthday next weekend. Pasquale, you need to step it up. read more

The food and atmosphere here are very fun. We were here as a party of 11. The food was very Italian with homemade pastas and a huge menu. We had everything from shrimp scampi, veal, ravioli, seafood pasta, steak, to kids items. The have a full bar, which I like and made great drinks as well. The service was very old school. They brought everything quickly, and were very attentive for a large group. When we had an anniversary cake brought out, they lowered the lights and played Italian music while everyone in the restaurant clapped. I went to Patsys yesterday with my wife. We were excited because we haven't been there for 2 years. We regret going. We ordered fried calamari to start off. Now we order fried calamari all the time in different restaurants and never have a problem. It was the worse calamari I ever had!!!! Some pieces were chewy and the rest were burnt. I told our waiter that the calamari wasn't good and the reason. Do you know when I received the bill they kept the charge on the bill!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that other restaurants normally take off charges off your bill when you are dissatisfied but they didn't. I guess they were hard up for money!!!! Now this one will make you choke on your food. You know that they charged me a surcharge 2.5 percentage on my bill because I used a card!!!!! Now I know every restaurant I have been to never never never did that to me!!!! You had to see my face when I read that. I asked if they had a ATM so I cN avoid the charge. Guess what??? They didn't even have that. So no matter what I was going to be charge for this!!! Folks don't bother going to this restaurant. They act like they care for the customers but all they care is the money. If you haven't been here, this is a must visit in Nothern NJ. A hidden gem. The service is excellent and the food is the real thing. Everything you try is well presented and delicious. Since it is a Clam Bar you don't want to miss the Linguini and White Clam Sauce. Make sure you ask about the specials and if you don't understand what something is or how it is made, ask, they will explain it. If you are visiting the area, make sure you stop here. We bring out of town guests here and they are never disappointed. I should mention you may get "stuck" taking them here every time they visit. In case you were wondering, they did move to the new place next door, it is very nice, new and big. The food is exactly the same, so is the menu, as in, they took the old beat up menus to the new place. Now that's cool. I believe the lack of reviews is due to the older crowd of regulars who don't use yelp or a smartphone. read more

I gave this place a 5star review a month ago. The experience was great - impeccable food and service, they were not busy at all. However, we decided to try it again for Mother's day and it was a disaster. My sister ordered a seafood dish and the clams were bad (contaminated). She spit it out and was unable to finish the rest of her food. They comped her dish - even though they should have comped her dish AND her drink. I get it, it's seafood and it happens, but at least try to make up for the bad experience. My husband's pork dish was undercooked and kids' chicken filets were raw! We are very understanding people, they were very busy and understaffed so we let it go. The reason I'm giving them 1 star, I wish I could give zero, is because of an incident after our visit. My father checked his coat when we arrived and forgot he had put his credit card in one of the pockets. The next day, when buying groceries, he remembered it was in his pocket. He reached for it and it wasn't there. He called the credit card company to let them know that the card was lost. They told him that someone went online and tried to use it to send $300 to Malta. We called the restaurant and spoke to the manager who made excuses for everything and was adamant that none of his waitstaff would do that. It is very disappointing that he didn't just apologize. We would have given this restaurant another chance if it were not for this incident. read more

Ridiculously overpriced for what you get meanwhile they get you for $3 valet parking charge even though it was virtually empty when I went. Food was great, but WAY overpriced. $22 for chicken francaise?!?! lol. Here's the kicker, they ONLY accept Amex or cash...NO SIGN ON THE DOOR. Thankfully they were able to debit my bank account. I love Patsys!! It's so nice to have an authentic Italian restaurant amongst all of the chain restaurants. The food is so good and the portions will ensure you will always leave with leftovers. Their meatballs are top notch and humongous!! If you get the calamari try it with the spicy marinara sauce. My absolute favorite is the Tortellini Pasty which is packed with flavor. We came here for dinner. The staff is friendly and very attentive. We ordered stuffed clams and mozzarella sticks for appetizer. Both were very salty and the mozzarella sticks were almost done. I'm just a typical Italian girl from central New York with a sauce/pasta addiction. I moved down here 4 years ago, but ever since my move I have been searching yelp religiously for pictures of red sauces at Italian restaurants that resemble my favorite restaurant from home! You would think living near the biggest city in the world that I would have found something similar sooner! When I came across Patsy's, I knew I found something special! Back home in the little town of Cortland, New York there is an Italian restaurant called The Green Arch. If you are a fan of Patsy's sauce then you must try The Green Arch if you are ever up that way! The sauces are basically IDENTICAL! I'm SO happy I don't have to drive 4 hours to taste a little bit of home anymore! Thank you Patsy's for getting the way sauce should be!!! read more

Patsy's is fabulous! My husband and I recently dined here for our anniversary. They have raw bar which we love, and a fabulous selection of salads, pastas, fish and steaks. The chilean sea bass is amazing and my husband loves the steak. Also, their sauces are amazing. You really can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Also, the staff is so professional and nice. They are really great people and are always so kind and pleasant with us. The restaurant itself is extremely clean as well. I highly recommend dining here! read more
