Rooted in Italian tradition but open to modern techniques and seasonal ingredients, it's a place where one can go to celebrate a milestone or to have a nice meal out with your family, where we decided to have a celebratory dinner at this establishment. Located off a busy Kinderkamack Road in Oradell, Ora, meaning "now" or "right now" in Italian, has been on my list and was named Best Italian Restaurant in Bergen County in the 2025 Daily Voice Readers' Choice Awards. A reservation was easily made via Toast. Upon entering as first-timers, my partner and I were greeted by the host inside this multi-level space with the vibe of a modern farmhouse, featuring warm wood tones, exposed rafters, and chic finishes accented by soft mercury lighting. One can dine in the main room, al fresco on the outside patio, weather permitting, or at one of the many top tables at the bar. We were seated promptly at a cozy table ready inside the main dining room. Their menu features a well-executed spin on Italian cuisine. As a starter, we decided on the Basil Pesto Arancini to share. For the main meal, we opted for one of today's specials, 8oz Prime Spinalis accompanied by Mac & Cheese sans crab meat and Dayboat Sea Scallops. Even saved room for some dessert and decided on the Chocolate Tortino and Soft Serve Gelato Copette. Washed them down with Franganza Spritz. Complimentary housemade bread with whipped butter started our meal. Every dish had flair and stood up against the next. Presentations kept our eyes wide as everything arrived to the table, and even the more straightforward preparations had a little something special about them. Everything was delicious; we really don't think one could go wrong with anything on the menu. What truly elevated the night, though, was our server, Clark. He went above and beyond, attentive without being intrusive, genuinely kind, and clearly passionate about making sure we had the best experience possible. I dined at Ora with a large party for a special occasion. The ambiance was absolutely fabulous in this large two floor restaurant with various rooms split out for dinner dining and lounge and bar atmosphere. Unfortunately for us, some guests got lost on the way over and our party had to wait for all of us to be seated. Since our original tables had now been taken, we waited a while longer, and longer ... getting seated about an hour after our original reservation. We were promptly given menus but the waiter did not come back for quite some time to actually take our orders or serve us drinks, and I noted we finally had orders placed an unacceptable forty minutes after being seated (adding to the hour we wait to get seated). Appetizers were served first - before the complimentary table bread, which I found a bit odd? Between the calamari, caesar salad, and table bread, the food was delicious and flavorful. After appetizers however, there was easily another half an hour wait for our main entrees, with little service inbetween - no topped off waters or cleaned up dishes. My medium rare rack of lamb came out disappointingly medium well, which given the wait for entrees, I shouldn't have been surprised that it continued to cook while waiting to be served. The salty lamb and vegetables were drenched in dressing, and were better off served either with about half the flavor or on the side. Trying a bite of my wife's undercooked pappardelle, I was again disappointed yet not surprised. Summing it up, this place has a fabulous ambiance but the attention to detail from the wait staff and chef is missing, and left us with a three and a half hour dining experience with mediocre food. read more

They also have a separate bar area with TVs for more casual nights, which we got to enjoy after dinner to watch the Knicks game and a lounge upstairs, which is nice for after dinner cocktails. Food - omgoodness! For apps, we got the scallops and mussels. They were both delicious. Scallops were light and fresh and the mussels were light but deep in flavor. For mains, we got the spicy rigatoni, bucatini (I think), rib eye steak, and crispy potatoes. The pastas were perfectly al dente and flavors were spot on and sooo good. I was also surprised by their rib eye steak, which was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and tender. I honestly didn't expect too much from their steak, but it was GREAT. So happy we ordered it and can't wait to bring my husband so he can try one of their steaks as well. Crispy potatoes, exactly as said, but better! Service was very warm and attentive. Came here for the first time on a Thursday night for a birthday dinner. We were very impressed with the ambiance and the service. There is a separate bar area, dining area and a lounge upstairs. We did not get to see the lounge as there was a private party that night. There is free valet parking as well with a suggested tip of between $5-$10. The appetizers we ordered were delicious and our entrees were even better. The drinks were strong but not overpowering and the dessert was the icing on the cake. We had a great experience at Ora. It was our first time there and it was very impressive. The ambiance was very modern, yet still had a quaintness to it. Noise level was great. The hosts were all smiling and attentive! Our server Ed was friendly and knowledgeable and did not hesitate when we asked his opinion. The food was delicious, we started with the baked clams, nicely balanced with crumbs to stuffing ratio. The entrees were excellent, my guest had the Scallops special, cooked perfectly, cooked through but not rubbery. Very flavorful. I had the double cut pork chop, again, cooked perfectly, not easy to do. They were accompanied by thick cut fries. It was delicious. My wife, reading the NJ Monthly constantly gets me trying new restaurants pretty much anywhere. We are today it was Ora. Great ambiance, full bar and pretty terrific food. We started off with a salad, followed by a short rib pizza for my wife and a Mafalda pasta dish for myself. Can't really complain about either of the dishes or the salad. They were really very good. I started it off with a bloody mary while my wife had a glass of Nebiollo. Good bloody mary by the way. Today we came here at early afternoon, so we're thinking we may need to come here at night sometime to see what it's like. Once again my wife picked a good one. We started their version of a Caesar salad, which was very good. My wife craves pizza, so she went for the Short Rib pie, while I went with the Malfade pasta... Mafalde (a la carbonara, guanciale, egg yolk, pecorino & black pepper)... a dish I would order again and again. Trouble was the pizza looked so good... I just had to have a 'bite' and we ended up sharing both meals. We finished by sharing a Gelato for dessert, which was fantastic. This is the place to be!! Just when entering this restaurant you're greeted with beautiful decoration for the holiday season. You can tell someone put great time into the aesthetic of the restaurant. We had a reservation upstairs and it was a beautiful space to dine, comfy and cozy! Our waiter was PHENOMENAL!! Shoutout to Donnie, he was charismatic, attentive and very kind. He checked in on us quite often even though we could tell he was busy, and never failed to come with a smile on his face. Now the food was the main show of course. We ordered pizzas, mussels and the meatballs. My personal favorite were the mussels, I really felt like I could drink the sauce it was so delicious For my main I had the garganelli pasta, it had a perfect balance of mushrooms and cheese, truly creating a warm delicious meal. Went to Ora for dinner for two with reservations. Parked a block away in the street but they do have valet parking. Upon arrival we were seated immediately. The hostess was very friendly. Upon sitting down we were treated by our waitress. We ordered cocktails. The margarita was overly sour. I like sour but this was over. The presentation of the cocktail was nice however. Appetizers: The Caesar salad (has a different name on the menu) but this was very good. I wish the lettuce was cut smaller so I had to use a knife to eat it. Nonetheless it was good. The meatballs were good, not the best but still good. The toast had good flavor but it was very hard even when you dip it in the sauce so I did not finish this. As my entre I ordered the branzino. This was delicious. The creamed spinach was also delicious and the presentation was interesting. Lastly, the service was a bit disappointing. Our waitress seemed out of it or at least disinterested in serving this night and it unfortunately showed. I like to give people grace so I still tipped her 20%. I hope all is well with her but attention and service is part of the experience as a paying customer. All in all, the atmosphere is very nice and the decor as well. Out of this world! We recently had a tragedy in the family where my mom lost her mom and her husband all within 24 hours. I was in town for my dad's memorial and my mom still had a gift card for ora that she planned on using once my dad beat cancer. Sadly that did not happen. I was able to get her to come out for the night, before I go back to Texas the next day. I think our servers name was Clarke (I hope that's right). She had an amazing time. This dinner helped remind her there is still beauty in this world, and time, food, drinks, and company to be enjoyed. Every single thing we had was a 10 out of 10. All of the food and the drinks were exceptional. Clarke was so kind and patient and answered all of our questions. He made recommendations and helped us feel at home. My mom said that this was the best restaurant and service she has had, and it's now her new favorite place, which is great since she lives right around the corner. Clarke helped guide us through the menu, told us about portions, and treated us to dessert. We never felt rushed and we are both so excited to come back again. It's one thing when food and drinks are exceptional, but when the service is also on par it really makes a restaurant stand out. We came here for brunch on a rainy weekend. I made a reservation to ensure we had a confirmed spot. Upon arrival we got the see the beautiful interior of the restaurant, with gorgeous modern furnishing. There was a huge bar area on the opposite end of the dining areal. The menu had small plates, pastas and popular brunch entrees. We started with the calamari that was a small dish but really good quality. Loved the marinara sauce it came with. I got the steak and egg for entree, another excellent dish. Flavorful steak, cooked to correct temperature, and decent amount. The kid's pasta was also super tasty. The service was nice overall. I cannot speak highly enough with how satisfied my wife and I are with having chosen Ora as our wedding reception venue. Michele and her team truly made us feel like royalty with how well they serviced our entire wedding party. The moment my wife and I walked into the venue space, one of the servers, Tim, approached us with our signature drinks and another server, Gianna, immediately offered to make us a plate before any of the guests had access to the food. Not once did we ever have to go and ask for a drink or food; Michele and the servers were already by our side the moment we thought of ever needing anything. Throughout the night there was always a drink in our hand, water cups filled to the brim, and plates of food ready at our sweetheart table. They also extended this same courtesy to our guests by consistently offering passed bites and drinks; they really took care of everyone. The venue space itself was also gorgeous; the upstairs area is already well furnished from the regular restaurant decor, but Michele really adhered to all of our requests with our decor and flowers, as well as our seating and table arrangements. Also the quality of the food and drinks were phenomenal; you can taste the passion that the chef and bartenders put into their work. I really didn't get to catch their names, but hats off to them! Our favorites included the steak crostini and short rib grilled cheese from the passed bites, all of the main dinner courses, the entire raw bar, and the Old Fashioned (which is a drink that can easily be messed up, but Ora delivered every single time). ORA was the perfect choice for my birthday dinner. It did not disappoint. We started off with cocktails: Dirty Martini and the Cigar Box. Both were perfect. The starter bread was fresh and butter was amazing. We ordered the sheep's milk ricotta and the cacio e Pepe arancini. Both were fabulous, but that ricotta was special. In between service, crumbing the table was key. I love that unasked touch. I make a mess with my bread and I prefer it clean at the start of each course. Next course we went with the meze rigatoni. Amazing. Entrees: Lamb Special and the Porcini rubbed filet mignon. Both were outstanding. Sides: herbed polenta fries and charred broccolini. I didn't have much room left, this was a challenge getting these down, but when they're good, there is room. Finished off the night with an espresso martini. Terrible customer service. We had a reservation for 4:45 PM and arrived at 5:05 PM. Instead of trying to accommodate our family, including a 7-year-old child, we were told the only option was to sit at the bar. I thought this was supposed to be a family-friendly restaurant. What was most frustrating was that we waited about 15 minutes before being told our table had been given away. No one called or texted to confirm the reservation or check whether we were still coming, despite the restaurant collecting all of that information when reservations are made. To make matters worse, the restaurant was half empty at 5:15 PM, making it difficult to understand why a solution couldn't be found. The hostesses were rude, dismissive, and unfriendly throughout the interaction, which only added to the disappointment. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I will not be recommending this restaurant to friends, family, or neighbors. There are plenty of places that value their customers and know how to treat families with courtesy and respect. read more

Scallop special was also excellent. All of the drinks were excellent including the mocktail we ordered. Fig and Ora was one of my top cocktails of the year. Caparinha was well balanced, as was the perfect pear. Both the corn pudding crème brûlée and the hibiscus gelato were amazing and I don't even like hibiscus. I usually start my reviews by touching on the ambiance and service, then the food. But, the food was so damn I'm starting this way! I like to start with pizzas and got the Parma Pizza. The bread was so fluffy and filling. The pizza was on the thinner side, which I like, and the goat cheese, fig jam, and prosciutto complimented one another so well. Special shoutout to the goat cheese, sensational. Then had the Bucatini and Malfalde. Starting with the bucatini, it was genuinely one of the best pasta dishes I've ever eaten. Thank you to our server, Miguel, who was excellent and recommended that I get it! The pecorino and pistachio, yum! It also had green beans, which was surprisingly delicious for me considering I don't like green beans. The Malfalde was similarly excellent and the guanciale packed a punch. This is our second time here, and it was New Year's Eve. We had a 9:00 reservation, but met at 830 for a pre dinner cocktail. There is a beautiful bar upstairs with a bar and lounge seating. My only complaint for this restaurant is they serve NYC pours. I hate getting mini martinis. The bartenders use shot glasses, very amateurish. We were seated at 9-15 and it's a younger but energetic crowd. We had a great server, young girl. We had a great meal and the portions were huge. We started with Harvest Salad, Gem Salad, Burrata Caponata and Funghi Pizza. My favorite was pizza and gem salad. To be honest I was full by then. Dinners were very good, but not as good as the apps. For dinner we had the parppardelle short rib, pork chop, branzino and cauliflower. All good portions were very good and well priced. The pork chop was the most expensive, 54, but it was a huge double cut cook medium For desert we had the bread pudding and a gelato with espresso shot. The gelato was the winner. My first dining experience at Ora was excellent! I was impressed with the layout of the restaurant. With two floors, there is plenty of space for large and small parties. Both floors have an open bar area. Our waiter, Tim, was very accommodating and provided us with great service throughout our time at Ora. For a party of 5, we ordered quite a few of the small plates. We loved the presentation and serving size for each plate. It was perfect without us feeling too full for our main course. Small plates ordered include the clams casino, fried calamari, seafood salad, burrata and beet salad, and a wood fired Margherita pizza. Everything was delicious! My favorites included the burrata and beet salad and the clams casino. Our main courses also delivered in taste and presentation. We ordered the swordfish Milanese, roasted grouper, bucatini, and the pesto ravioli special. Simply delicious! We ended our meals with espresso martinis, coffee, bread pudding, and polenta cake. The dessert highlight was definitely the Ora espresso martinis. There was an extra layer of coffee foam that made it a special standout. Food and ambiance was a 4, and service was a 5. Our waitress was not new to the trade and knew what she was doing. It was very crowded and somewhat loud but for some reason it was not an issue. We went into the car area afterwards and found a very tempting space to dine in as well. The fried calamari was fried perfectly and was not chewy, seemed fresh and tasty. My salad, the chopped salad with some meat and provolone was nicely dressed and delicious. The clams casino were their recipe and own version - they were good, but I'd prefer the old recipe and likely not order again. Two of us took down the delicious butterflied and crispy skinned branzino. Along with the short rib ragu pasta and the pasta with the scampi sauce and rock shrimp, all 4 entrees were home runs. Only one dessert, an amazing homemade vanilla gelato with several other tasty ingredients including olive oil was just a little heavy handed with the rock salt. All in all, I'd return in a heartbeat. There's definitely a great buzz around Bergen for this new Italian hot spot, Ora. The dining areas are spacious, great design elements throughout and the noise level is just fine for having conversation - nice work on that as this place filled up quite a bit on this wintery Thursday evening. Service is attentive and professional. A slight botch with my "Cigar Box" bourbon but that was corrected quickly. They were also great at accommodating our birthday cake for our friend during dessert (although of course we still took a peek at the dessert menu). Nice variety of well crafted apps, pizzas, entrees and desserts, nice array of by-the-glass and full bottle selections and awesome cocktail ideas! Appetizers consisted of Pt Judith Calamari - great but could have had more peppers, the meatballs (great!) and the prosciutto- very lean! Wood fire Margarita pizza also hit the spot! For dinner, my lamb shank was delicious and plentiful. The mix of flavors and accompaniments paired well. My friend's Orata (like a Bronzino) was white, flaky, and flavorful. My wife and son had the rigatoni, which was also great, and our star for the evening had the pasta with short rib - how can you ever go wrong with that?! Chef Tom Silvestri is on a roll here - the menu preparation is well thought out and all our dishes were great! Can't wait to return soon! Food is good but the service is not so good including reservation. My daughter's birthday I made the reservation a month ago for the party of 12, before the reservation we spent $150 to try out first, a few days before the party I called the restaurant to do final confirmation. The restaurant said they couldn't find my reservation plus they don't have table to accommodate party of 12. It took a long time to find my reservation back. On the day of the birthday party we had to wait for haft hour to get the table. I am not pleased with the service. read more

Ora exceeded every expectation I had and provided an unforgettable dining experience. Originally we had a 9:30 PM reservation, we arrived early and were accommodated at 8 PM on a busy Friday night which is a true testament to their impeccable service. While we waited we enjoyed drinks in their upstairs lounge which was a cozy library vibe with comfortable seating, mood lighting, and a knowledgeable bartender. Once they called us maybe 20 min later we were seated, we started with the caviar cannoli and octopus small plate. The cannoli's dramatic smoke presentation. The octopus had a burst of flavor in every bite. For entrées I chose the butternut squash raviolette, and my fiancé opted for the swordfish Milanese. Both dishes were nothing short of spectacular.. we savored every bite, leaving not a crumb behind. To end the evening we shared the vanilla gelato with honey and rosemary, topped with a caramel brittle which actually was a perfect harmony of sweetness and sophistication. I was skeptical when we ordered it bc I didn't know how rosemary in gelato would be. Ora impressed us with its thoughtful attention to detail, from presentation to flavor, and we're already planning our next visit when their menu shifts to spring/summer. read more
