I used to come here many years ago. This place was impossible to get into to, sometimes even with a reservation. Looks like the inside has been redone-used to be a clam-bar in the middle? Either way, don't let the meager exterior fool you, and don't expect them to 'fawn' over you. They take your order, give you great food, and leave you alone. Probably different if you're drinking wine. Came in for lunch on my way to the airport. First time here for lunch. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms for an App, and lunch serving of Veal Parm, which is 12.95. It comes with soup and salad. I skipped the soup. They brought out a bruschetta and some cheese/marinara bread. This is in addition to the loaf that they put on the table. (Carb Heaven) So far, all is YUM. About to dig into the veal. A little too much breeding for my taste, but it is very tender. Fresh cheese on top, and tasty sauce. It's not my number one place, but if you're in the area, and want a really good meal. You can't go wrong here. It there were 1/2 stars, I would have bumped this up. But, I was the only one in the restaurant for 45 minutes, and not even one 'how is everything, or any type of interaction. Don't expect great service. read more

Attended a party here for work earlier today. The staff was very nice to us. The food was excellent. We had hot bread and bruschetta as appetizers. Then we had salad which was good. The pasta course was a very generous portion and had one of the best sauces I ever had. We got to choose between chicken francese and salmon for our entrees. I ate the chicken and really liked it. Everyone at my table who had the salmon liked it as well. Dessert was cannolis served with strawberries. The strawberries were among the freshest I have ever had, and the cannolis were good. Very generous portions. Also, staff were great about accommodating dietary restrictions and getting non-coffee drinkers tea, etc. I would definitely consider booking a party here. I do not live near this restaurant, but I will come here for a regular dinner in the future and try other food. Cash or AmEx only. read more

This place is delicious. The waiter is extremely knowledgeable of the menu and also of food in general and suggested great pairing as well. I had the Clams over linguini over white sauce. There served a great portion of clams. The sauce was light garlicky and very tasty. There only really sore spot is they only accept America Express which is not a common thing. The prices were fine but unfortunately that's the only positive I can share. The meatballs were old and served cold. The pasta was drowning in oil and their famous "Patsy's Sauce" was burnt, we couldn't eat any of it. When we were eager to leave, they finally told us it was an Amex or cash only place. Being from the city, that is one of the first things I check ( do they accept credit). No where is this fabricated rule listed so I said I only have credit. They took my card and them the owner came back 10 minutes later and threw it on the table. Not sure why I upset him when this wasnt listed or else I would have grabbed cash before I came. Highly discourage anyone from wasting their time. The food is old and it is obvious. There it's little care too the upkeep of the food and of the place. We always say big menus and empty tables are huge red flags, but the reviews made us look past our gut instincts...always stick to your gut....always. read more

Funny Story - I grew up about a mile away from this place and visited for the first time last year. we had a good size party, couple adults, some kids, and we were going here on whim on a Friday evening about 9pm. I called to find out dresscode and the guy that answered the phone says "no guinea t's" LMAO (true story). We go in and sit down. My server who seemed like he had just arrived from Italy looked like Michael Madsen from Reservoir Dogs and he had the same tough guy attitude. All this was entertaining, comical and fit the bill. The food was amazing! I had orechiette w/ rabe, the best I've ever had. Everyone else at the table absolutely loved their food with the exception of my major complaint about this place. I ordered a shrimp advertiser for one of the kids and the fried shrimp was horrible. To top it off they charged $22 for 4 lousy pieces of shrimp. I look at this like it's my fault though, I shouldv'e known to not order food for the kids other than pasta. All and all I would return again but I am more wary now about their pricing. They gave us a $160 tab and none of it was itemized. Beware of the fried shrimp and shady billing and stick to the Italian food on the menu because they master that but somehow screw up the fried food. Go figure. The husband and I decided to venture out one rainy Friday night - because let's face it, there's no better place to spend a cold winter's night than with a dish of warm pasta and hearty gravy. Appetizers: Clams Anthony - delicious. breaded, buttery shrimp/clam meat in clam shells, covered in mildy spicy, buttery sauce. Perfect Calamari - crispy fried calamari served with your choice of dipping sauce, sweet, mild or hot. We went with hot, and boy, was it ever. Entree: Lobster Ravioli Salmon Granier - Salmon portion grilled and topped with crabmeat and shrimp, mashed into buttery, breaded goodness. We were defintely on a seafood kick. For dessert we finished off with cappucinos and tartufo (how can you say no to tartufo?) The food was excellent and the service was very attentive, bordering on obsesssive at times. It seemed like everytime we looked away someone was filling our water glasses, replacing our plates or straightening our silverware. Had the Grilled Octopus as appetizer, followed by a Seafood Fradiavalo (I asked for Rigattoni in place of Linguini and they obliged). My family and I have been coming to Patsy's for well over ten years now. It is has the best seafood around hands down!!! I don't know where to start with my favorite dishes from this place! Fried calamari, fried shrimp so so good!!! Broiled seafood platter is amazing! Love the linguini with new Zealand clams. Stuffed shrimp with crabmeat is incredibly good! I love this place! Came here last night for a big 'ol Italian dinner. The shrimp balls and HOT sauce are hands-down the BEST I've ever had. Staff is excellent as well! Four stars, not for the quality, but for other reasons. Those reasons being: 1. They always have a huge selection of some amazing specials. BUT they don't give you a paper with it all written out; instead, the waiter (who often has a thick accent) describes them all to you. It's just too much to take in all at once and leaves you confused. If they only had three or four specials a day, then okay, but listening to someone ramble off 14 specials is overwhelming. 2. THE WINE LIST! It's kinda short. An expanded wine list would make this joint a better dining experience. I never get tired of this place, You don't see to many GOOD authentic Italian restaurants in the Fairview/ North Bergen area anymore. Meny, the owner is such a kind and welcoming person From the moment you walk in you are greeted by Meny himself or his wonderful hosstess and promptly seated. Unless you arrive at peak hours, then you will have a little wait hehe. (I recommend making a reservation) As for the food, our appetizer fried calamari: was delicious and entrée's I had the chicken Marsala and the wife had Chilean Seabass with a potato croquet. Both were amazing, great taste and texture nothing was to bland or salty. Props to the chef. Dessert: cappuccino with tiramisu .....never a disappointment. I ordered mussels with mild marinara. The mussels were cooked well but the sauce was thick, dark, extremely spicy, and had the taste of being boiled down until over cooked. When explaining it was too spicy (and I can take spicy, I just don't prefer spicy red sauce) I was told that that's the way their sauce is. Then the waiter proceeded to suggest mussels in tomato soup as the only other option. Really? Being disappointed with their "regular" sauce (if it even was their regular sauce), I agreed to the weak tomato soup option. It was just alright. No one else in my party ordered a red sauce dish but were nevertheless unimpressed with their order and the service. With all the great reviews this place gets, I can't imagine my experience to be a normal occurrence here. Either the kitchen didn't have their regular red sauce available, which is near impossible, or the staff was just incompetent. I also find this impossible for it was opening time on a Saturday and the server seemed to be a head waiter or some type of management. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place. However, this may have been a one time screw up of theirs. Just be wary. read more

I keep it at med. some the the hot sauce can take the chrome off a Harley lol my second time here at pasty's and like all ways the staff and the food is great . Talk to your waiters ask questions . Say what do you think I should order what do you Prefer how about something different. And that what happen this night my waiter recommended white spaghetti with clam sauce and clams still in the shell my new favorite here . I guess when I was young I did not like it . The shrimp are huge you have to slice them in to three to make them fit in your face lol very good quality. Food was so good I just gave them my credit card . And left a $50 tip only once in a while you get great service where the waiter wants to feed and that was this night if your in New Jersey area a must stop . Went to Patsys with a party of 14! We had an amazing time and despite the restaurant being packed & having such a large party the service was perfect. The eggplant rollatini, fresh mozzarella, capellini pesto and chicken over tri color salad was amazing. Loved the food and service. I ordered a dish that had sausage, I was unaware that my dish contained it as it was not in the meal description and I am severely allergic but our waiter kindly came and took the dish back and I placed a new order. When my new dish was ready a different waiter whose name is "George" I believe (old man), rudely threw my dish in the middle of the table without saying a word. The chicken francese was delicious! The sauce was nice, not too oily or heavy at all and the breading wasn't too soggy. I wasn't too big of a fan of the fried calamari because it was bland but luckily it wasn't too oily. The mozzarella in carrozza-which I have never had with ham in it before today- was okay but it tasted kind of old. My dad's girlfriend got the surf and turf but sent the lobster back because of the weird aftertaste but they were very accommodating! Molten lava cakes were overcooked and there wasn't any of that nice fudgey center but the ice cream was good. Good service though. read more

The decor at Patsy's was great, as was the fact that it has alcohol. The food left much to be desired. Patsys has a limited vegetarian menu, so I would think twice if I was vegetarian. The vegetarian in my party ordered ravioli which was one of maybe 3 options for him. It was pretty good. The tortellini with chicken however was not as good. I have been coming here for about 17 years. It is totally out of the way from me now that I'm in Park Ridge, but I make sure to get here at least a few times a year. This is an old school Italian place. If you're going for ambiance, forget it. Tacky Xmas lights all year round, celebrity photos all over the walls, waiters as old as time---but I wouldn't have it any other way!!! It's been like that forever, and this place is very nostalgic for me. This is the real deal, and it's all about the food. Unfortunately, I'm a creature of habit, and when I really love something, I have to order it every time I go or else I feel like I'll be disappointed with anything else I order. I always have to order the puréed artichokes as an appetizer, which is like heaven in your mouth. I think they purée it w/garlic and Parmesan cheese and baked it in the oven. We scoop it up on to Italian bread, it's heavenly. They will usually always start you w/Bruschetta. Normally I'm kind of indifferent to bruschetta in general but theirs is just SO good. Anyway, there aren't many Italian restaurants that make shrimp balls, and Patsy's is one of them. It's essentially a big bread ball w/a little shrimp in the middle. It's not even so much as the shrimp ball itself, but the SAUCE. It's outstanding. I usually get it over pasta. You can order mild, med or hot sauce. Medium is pretty hot, so I get mild w/a side of medium & mix it. Their seafood salad is excellent too..go, you won't be disappointed. read more
