My wife is from Quincy and we were back in town for the Plumas County Fair along with a planning session for her 50th high school reunion later this year. We had our Saturday morning breakfast at Patti's Thunder Cafe and it was perfect. I'm not sure why but it's the first time we've eaten her and that's our loss. We both had the petite huevos rancheros. I had mine with added grilled sliced jalapeños. We both agreed the petite portions was generous and about the size you'd expect for a regular portion at most restaurants. So when Patti's advertises generous portions they are being modest. My wife and I both love Mexican food and have eaten hue is rancheros across the country and Mexico from Cabo San Lucas to Puerto Vallarta. We were pleasantly surprised to find Patti's Thunder Cafe ranks in the top 5 offerings of huevos rancheros we've had anywhere in our over 42 years of traveling together. It may sound a little strange finding such a great offering in a small town cafe in the Northern California Sierra Nevada mountains but we were pleasantly surprised. We were so surprised that we'll be back tomorrow morning to order the same meal. This time I'll order the regular size meal just to see the size. If you find yourself in Quincy, do yourself a favor and have a meal or two at Patti's Thunder Cafe. You won't be disappointed and judging from our experience, I would expect everything on their generous menu to be ever bit as good as our breakfast. read more

Came here as a student from the nearby Forestry Camp back in 2017. It was the go-to weekend brunch place for me and my fellow campers because the camp's mess hall was closed on the weekends. A great selection of food, especially the biscuits and gravy (I really miss it!). It's crowded on weekends since it's one of the few places open in town, and near town for that matter. Parking here is a bit convoluted since the streetside parking fills quickly. I parked on one of the side streets by the fire station. Service is great. One of the waitresses at the time named Lexi was phenomenal. She was friendly and attentive. Always made me and those I was dining with feel right at home. Came here all the time for those eight weeks I was in Meadow Valley! I promise it wasn't Stockholm Syndrome; it just really is that good. read more

This is the second time we have been in for breakfast. First, friendly and quick service from the staff. Second, great coffee with frequent refills - we drank decaffeinated and it was very tasty. Third awesome food. My husband decide on their cheese burger with a roasted chili pepper. He loved it. My meal was number 1 combo with bacon which was perfectly prepared. Love the decorations. It was a particularly hot Sunday in this lovely town. The wife and I took a tour around downtown Quincy, stopping off at a soon-to-be-converted book shop, working up a hunger in the process. We came across Patti's, looked at the happy eaters in the shade and said "we're eating here". And we're glad we did - wife had chicken and fries while I enjoyed a veggie burger, also accompanied by french potatoes. Great vibe up in there and by golly, the best biscuits n gravy I've had since moving to CA a few years ago - the gravy was thick, but not that hold a fork upright thick and had great flavor. I ordered a fairly straightforward breakfast - eggs scrambled soft, bacon, potatoes, biscuit AND a side of gravy(!) - it looked so good and the presentation was so great that a guy actually came to my table to ask me what I ordered because it looked so good! Eggs and bacon were perfect, potatoes were good (would've loved to had them hotter and fresher), biscuit was very good. Went in at 8:25 on 10/23/2024. Got seated, waitress asked what we wanted to drink. 20 minutes goes by. No drinks and no order taken. Waitress took care of drinks and orders for two more groups of people that came in after. As a local, I do not recommend a business that gives this bad of service. You owe it to yourself to try Patti's! We were passing through Quincy on a Friday and intended to stop for a bite at Quintopia but they were closed so we tried Patti's thunder cafe and it was great to say the least. We were able to sit outside with our family pet (12 pound Yorki) and the food along with service were spot on. Try the avocado bacon burger and I'm pretty sure you will be impressed too. Today was our second time at Patti's (our first was earlier this summer) and it was excellent food and service both times. The atmosphere is pretty cool - tables all around, conversation flowing from all the tables but not over powering, and my husband says there was 80's/90's rock music in the background. This time we ordered the small plate egg and bacon with toast and the small plate French toast and bacon. It was all delicious and served in a very timely manner. Busy, centrally located breakfast and lunch cafe with excellent service, relatively good selection and tempting specials usually available every day. Seating is available outside, weather permitting. The restaurant does seem to begin closing-up around 1:30 so try to get in before then.. The staff is hard-working, efficient and very friendly. I had the soup of the day and a turkey burger - both were quickly prepared and of excellent quality. This is one of the few establishments in a struggling town that has essentially become a food desert following the ravages of COVID and associated policies. Every time I've stopped here for a bite to eat, I'm always reminded how good the food is and sets a high bar for other restaurants in Plumas county. The atmosphere created by the owners and staff is welcoming and relaxing. One of the reasons I like going here is because during times of emergency, particularly fire season, Patty's feeds the evacuees, firefighters, and police for free. Other people donate money to help this goodwill gesture as well, which truly makes Patty's a real community based establishment!
