The location is great. We were excited to be there... had to wait for 30 min - fine, not a big deal. The lady greeting us and checking us in was trying to be nice and helpful, but someone gotta tell her to quit chewing gum at work. She was the only one from all the team members who was chewing gum and it was in a very annoying "open mouth, everyone can see my gum" way. For someone who job to welcome customers in food business this is just gross, not even mentioning professionalism and representing the business standards. My first impression was affected by that and I can't even say how objective I would be talking about food itself and overall experience. Cesar salad was heavily overloaded with dressing, Other food we ordered was turkey sandwich, burger and Mac n cheese bites... So glad we tried Plumas Pines this last weekend for Memorial Day. The weather was great, the food was fresh, service was attentive and the pine aids were frosty and flowing! Can't beat the views also from the deck with one of the few restaurants on Lake Almanor. I had the large Caesar salad and added grilled shrimp and the shrimp were very good size and flavorful and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich, and we topped them off with a few Pine aids, they're beautifully colored frosty drink. Sat on the deck. Amazing views. About the only good thing for this place. Told it would be about a 30 minute wait when we got there. Sat at the bar. Bartender didn't even acknowledge us. She was helping others so we understood that part. Then a group of 6 people showed up just standing at the bar. When the Bartender asked which one of us were next I said us but the gal who I guess is a regular piped up and said they were. The Bartender new darn well we were there before them. So after waiting a half hour for 2 drinks neither of us liked we got seated outside. View was fantastic. Waitress got us our menus after sitting there a bit. She was nice enough. Food was ok. Not great not horrible. Never saw our waitress again until she brought us our bill. Then checked to see if we've paid 4 times in 10 minutes. 2 and a half hours total. We have been going here for almost 2 decades, Sunday was a serious disappointment. Table of 8 for lunch, everyone orders, I'm last and order the fish and chips. All of the food gets run out to us except 2 of us. Waiter said 1 of them would be out in a min. I figured he meant both so I didn't say anything. That entree comes but mine doesn't. 10 min goes by I flag the kid down and he looks surprised. He says he'll check. Comes back and apologizes and said it's coming right now. I've worked in enough restaurants, I know he just forgot it. That happens. He tells me it will be just a couple min. This is frying 2 pieces of fish and fries, nothing special. I see him delivering drinks, picking up checks, back and forth....tick tock. Meanwhile our entire table has finished, a few of them have gone to the merch store, and I'm gonna be holding everyone up whenever my lunch actually arrives. After waiting 15 min for the fried food that should have taken 5 tops, I finally told him just to keep it and bring the check. Absolutely ruined our lunch as everyone is now fussing over the fact that I didn't eat. Like I said we have been coming for a very long time, but after the last few visits I think we are done with this place. Training is simple. That kid should have told a manager what was going on so they could personally grab the food and bring it out as soon as it was done. Then he would've gotten an actual tip instead of what I left. read more

We've been about 3 times this summer and service is always below average. Today was the worst. I realize some things are out of the servers control but you can handle it in the correct manner. It must be a lack of training. Most of these issues could be solved with some entry level training. I've worked in the service industry for a long time and this place just doesn't do the simple things well. We ordered 2 drinks and one was a beer, took over 25 minutes to get our drinks. Food was out well before we received drinks. We saw multiple people on boats go in and come out with drinks before ours came. Ultimately the lack of service affects sales, but hey that's on them. We would have ordered more drinks though had no opportunity to. Food is decent but never great, though it's the service that is really lacking and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Our server Grace took over 10 mins to acknowledge us and then drinks came out way late and not close to cold. No mention to make it right just blamed it on the bar. We were very nice to her and she backhands us the check and walks away. No thank you for coming in, nothing. Maybe she was embarrassed of how things went? Not sure, but unfortunately it's going to be hard to give this place our business. read more

We're 'locals'; and unfortunately, we will not return. When our party of 3 arrived, we were told that the kitchen couldn't take any more orders right now as they were behind. It was never suggested that we make a reservation. We waited for over 1.5 hours to even be seated at the furthest back corner table by the 'washing room'. They were "out of" most of their menu items. When our food came, it was subpar. Everything was too spicy. Definitely not worth the cost. Very expensive. We couldn't even hear the live band, which was great; due to the loudness of the table closely next to us playing dice, getting drunk and arguing. Our waitress, Aaron was great! Yet, she was reprimanded for spending too much time with us. read more

The food is as you might expect (3 stars) and priced like fine dining. The staff is friendly. But let's just say it: those waterfront views are why you are here. Several good local beers on tap. LOVELY! It seems to be the only WATERFRONT restaurant on Lake Almanor. Outdoor and air conditioned indoor seating with a big bar area. Wonderful local beers here. Drive up with your boat! Bunch of slips there. Super friendly lady servers today. I enjoyed their creamy clam chowder that is only served on the weekends. The calamari appetizer was addicting. Watch out for the extra charges! Sandwiches come with a side and although the server said a Cesar salad was extra or a regular dinner salad was extra we did not order a full salad or a censer salad but had a cup of chowder & a salad which were placed on the plate! The sandwiches @$19 plus additional $3 or &3.50 on both sandwiches. So that brings the cost to $22 for each person. Server never did a refill, did not tell either of us that the two items were extra. $50 for 2 with one non alcoholic beverage. Over the top. And on top of that the bread was old. Be sure to make a reservation. We showed up to the resort at 4:45pm on a Saturday (mind you, it IS Saturday) and we were not able to eat here that night. We made a reservation for Sunday instead, and it was lovely. Food: Vegetarian friendly and could possibly modify for a vegan diet with their Portobello Mushroom sandwich. I opted for the Crimini Mushroom Ravioli and an order of Onion Rings to start. The Ravioli was extremely decadent and it was hard not to eat everything on the plate. The Onion Rings were the same way. YUM! Great portion sizes even though the prices were a bit high. My partner got the Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes and he adored it. Service: The service was nice enough. But it seemed a bit casual for the fine-dining prices on the menu. One of the younger floor employees was not wearing a mask, but everyone else was. It is a little irksome just because restaurants don't cut corners in other health aspects like washing their hands after bathroom use, keeping food at proper temperatures etc. But, ah well, 'tis 2020. The view was absolutely gorgeous and the heat lamps on the porch were a nice touch. Ambiance, service, were great. Food is $$$. Security is lacking. We had our Fastway e2 94-00-1000 lb. rated trailer hitch stolen during our last night there. The stolen hitch will cost us just under $500 to replace. We had to scramble over to Chester and Napa Auto to buy a hitch we could use to ge home with. read more

This was our first time back since the horrible fires last July. It was so nice to see the bar and tables full and the smiles on the faces of the waitresses. Our party of 6 was promptly seated at an indoor window table. All the outdoor tables were taken by reservations, but this was not a problem. Mary, our server was absolutely delightful, actually a real funny kick in the pants. We ordered the big Wagu burgers which were juicy and delicious. Our girls ordered the toasted cheese with the delicious Oates French fries. I got the Ahi salad which was grilled to perfection with a perfect blend of avocados, tomatoes, crisp greens and topped with a most flavorful sweet sesame dressing. I highly recommend Plumas Pines for early dinner to watch the sunset and then a slow boat ride home. Mary you did an excellent job. read more

Just a note- my wife and two friends were participating in the Courage Triathlon today when we stopped in the place- so we knew ahead of time it would be busy. They served us right away and our food arrive in a decent time frame. The waitress was attentive and kept out Ice Teas filled. The Calamari was yummy and the sauce very good. The Bourbon BBQ wings were very tasty- only problem-they were in the middle. No big deal the teenagers ate them. The race had given us a coupon for $5.00 off any appetizers with adult beverages. That means only if you drink alcohol which we don't. They should make it two adult beverages or a $15.00 minimum purchase to get the discount. After all - the race attracts a crowd. That and the cold wings (inside a few) is the reason for the only four stars. read more

We came here and as always love it, here are some tips...I do lunch or brunch only as it's first come first serve yet I walk in put our name down and ask for a table outside the wait can be long but they will call you when ready so we usually go by the lake park a couple of miles from the restaurant and hang there until we get the phone call. The staff is always friendly and very attentive yet the only thing is that I ordered a Bloody Mary and it's small for $9.50 and on the other drinks are better, we got the fish and chips and it was really good, plus if you arrive by boat they have a dock cheers mates!!! read more

Plumas Pines has been a favorite spot almost as long as we've been coming to Lake Almanor. It's the only place you can boat up to and dock your boat while you eat. The outdoor patio (with lots of repositionable umbrellas to provide shade on hot summer days) can accommodate many large groups, and has beautiful views of the lake. Don't worry about any specific dress code, we're pretty much always in swimsuits and covers every time we go. I will say service is usually on the slow side, normally because of a huge influx of people over the 4th of July, so just be patient and enjoy the views. I think the Onion Rings were the MVP's of this visit. They had a light tempura like batter, were fried to perfection, and the onions were cooked enough that they were soft with a tiny bit of crunch still. The calamari was also tasty. It had a different batter than the onion rings, and I LOVE when places include the little squids with tentacles. So yummy! I ordered the fish n Chips, which had the same light batter as the onion rings, perfect for the fish! It was probably some of the best fish n Chips I've ever had. The chicken salad sandwich wasn't over dressed, was light and refreshing on a hot summer day. They often have live music in the evening and rotating specials. I recommend making a reservation whenever eating here, mostly in the summer. For me, Plumas Pines is iconic Lake Almanor, especially if you have a boat! read more

So disappointed in Plumas Pines would give ZERO stars if possible. Wanted to bring my friends from out of town for a nice dinner. I raved about how nice this place was. Made reservations for 7:30 and didn't get sat until 8:15. It was busy so it was understandable that service was slow. So while waiting I sat at the bar to get drinks for our group of 4 adults and 2 kids, and continuously watched other people walk up to the bar and get drinks. I was ignored for 15 mins before I gave up on the drinks. Our table was ready after more waiting and we sat down. We waited another 35 mins and no one came to take our order or acknowledged us what so ever. We ultimately decided to leave as we had two little kids who were getting hungry and now it was 9 o'clock at night. I was the only one who had been to Plumas Pines before, it being my husband and friends from out of town's first time. My husband said he will NEVER go back because that was his first impression. Super sad. The only nice thing was the view. I have never left a review like this or had this bad of service ever in my life. I'm very patient and always try to be kind to the service industry.
