The process of getting the gate involved many steps, some were simple, some very stressful but here was my experience with Patton. 1) Estimate process. We had 3 companies come out, Patton was actually the highest bid; however we went with them because when Steve came out it was VERY clear that his experience and knowledge of gates was far superior. Maybe the other companies sent out newer reps, but we were really looking for someone to give us the best advice to fit our needs and also add value to our home. I'd give this part of the process 5 stars, it got us excited and made us feel confident in the process. 2) Doc signing. You make it more official sign some doc's and agree on pricing. We did this on September 16th 2020. At that time we were told fabrication would happen the week of October 23rd and install would happen first week of November. We felt fine about all of this at first, but as the dates rolled around it was radio silence. We heard from NO ONE. The dates passed we reached out MULTIPLE times with no response. Some one from the office would answer, take a note and we'd get nothing back from Steve. Extremely frustrating. I give this part of the process 1 star. On December 10th we were connected with Alan, not sure of his title, but he has been at the company for over 10 years and knows all operations. Alan was amazing! He apologized for lack of communication filled us in on the status of the gate. We were pretty adamant that with adding our almost 12k gate we wanted to get it properly permitted. Alan worked with us on breaking up their process so we could get the city to come out and sign off. The city requires plans drawn up and Alan was also able to produce those in a timely manor. We started to feel much better about the process and things were now moving along. 3) Phases 1of instal. The city signed off on the drawings on the 14th of December, we let Alan know and the concrete was poured within 2 days. 5 stars for sure, this part was much faster and communication had improved greatly! 4) Fabrication. The fabricating happens after the posts are installed to make sure the fit is spot on. Fabrication took place for us over the holidays so we weren't totally shocked to not have it installed before the new year. Alan sent us pic of fabrication and they were out to instal it the first week of January. 5) Instal. A crew of 4, Alan, Evan, Mike and Jimmy came out. Everyone was super nice and happy to answer our questions. We were honestly blown away with the process and seeing this part made the expense make more sense. I feel like the company could be better early on at explaining the process to help digest the expense. Mike who fabricated the gates was knowledgable and did an amazing job. We absolutely love them! Alan is basically an engineer, designer, mechanic and welder. Impressive how many hats he is wearing while completing this process. Unfortunately for us there was some wild rain storm that happened during our instal and it drained out some the caulking that hadn't dried yet. It left some unsightly puddles on our driveway and weird residue on the glass. We noticed on a Saturday and figured we would reach out to Alan during the work week to ask for a solution. Monday morning before we could even reach out Alan sent us an email to check in about the gate and the rain. We were dreading being pests so it was a huge relief that he was on it like this. Mike and Jimmy over and they spent an entire day cleaning and resetting everything. They even power washed our driveway. Mike was amazing and gave us tips for taking care of the gate and made sure to fine tune every detail before leaving. Our gate looks AMAZING! Our neighbors keep stopping by to tell us. I was temped to give them an overall review of 3 or 4 because of the experience with Steve and lack of communication. However Alan more than made up for this shortcoming and Mike finishing out the gate was really a cherry on top. I would absolutely recommend using this company, just ask for Alan from the get go. read more

Our gate opener was not closing the gate after we had driven out. I checked to see if anything was blocking the path of the electronic eye, and the reflector. Nothing seemed to be in the way of its closing. The controller box had a couple of LED lights lit up and another one labeled "Close", which was flashing. Two guys from Patton came out a few days later and told me it could be the capacitor or maybe the circuit board went bad, but in any case they couldn't fix it. They also claimed that it was old and they don't make any parts for this opener (Dorene DR3510). It was recommended that I get an entirely new setup for nearly $4,000. After they left I noticed that no LED lights on the controller box were working. It was totally dead. I then had to call my electrician to see what he thought was going on. He tested the power supply and it was fine. Since he didn't work on small electronics, he couldn't do anything more. I called the company that makes the opener and talked to the owner who said that "of course they still stock and sell parts for this unit." He asked how the power wires and wires to the motor were configured. The three power wires were plugged into the wrong terminals, as were the three wires that went to the motor. When I switched them back to their original positions the controller box was powered once more and the lights indicating the status were lit. The gate now worked fine and was opening and closing correctly. Nice work, guys...lying about the availability of parts and then rewiring the box so that it seemed dead, and then offering a whole new system. Several years back there was a loud squealing noise coming from the same opener when the gate opened and closed. A Patton technician came out and gave me the same story about no parts being available and that I should get a new system. After he left, I lubricated everything I could reach and it has worked fine ever since. Sorry to say, but I just don't trust this company. It has some very good employees, and some that just want to sell you something you don't need. read more

Reviews suggest this is a trusted company, but our experience was totally different. Called to repair our gate, got a guy here to assess work extent and was promised a quote in a week. Never got it, called them and promised one in a few days. Again nothing and on the phone they sounded like they didn't know about our case at all. Gave them a third chance, still nothing. What bothers us most is they have wasted 4 weeks of our time, promised 3 times to give a quote, and never even call back once. Not a single word back ever despite our repeated calling to remind them! Update: Second time is the charm. The technician, Rick, showed up in the promised window of time. He did not find a particular issue, but got the opener reset and serviced. He was polite, knowledgeable, and explained what he was doing as he worked. If Patton can work out their scheduling issues, they will be my go-to for gate issues and service. Original: My gate opener went out on Thursday. Called and spoke to Amanda. Got an appointment between 2-4pm next day. Thought that was pretty good. But NO! No one showed up. Here is what happened today. Garage door blew up at 12 noon today. I call them and they send out at tech in 2 hours!! Steven was great, he knew his stuff. Discovered a bad sprocket caused by mis-adjusted spring tensions and didn't try to sell me a new motor like most would. Although he didn't have the part on the truck he promised to return in the next few days and not charge me for this service call a savings of $95. Why go anywhere else? Knowledgeable, responsive, honest, easy to work with and willing to give people a break on charges. I love these guys and you will too. read more

This was a simple installation of a garage door opener. The technician did not bring a 3 foot extension cable which was needed to reach an AC outlet in the garage ceiling. So the opener could not be set up. Really. Then he said I was supposed to go out to a hardware store and buy one...uh...while he's alone at my house? I don't think so. I'm paying $400 and you can't provide a $3 part? Then for months the door intermittently wouldn't close. The same guy came out again to check it. He made up some bizarre reason and left saying it was fixed. That night it wouldn't close again. I called and spoke to a manager. He was testy, rude and acted like he was doing me a big favor to come out. He kept warning me if the censors were misaligned he was going to charge me for the trip. Uh..they are lit as they should be...Then he arrived, argued with me for 10 minutes about why they don't bring a power cable in case it's needed...ok...they don't provide a $3 part for a $400 installation? Then he has no tools in his truck...no really...and now he's going in and out of the garage on his phone trying to get someone to bring him tools. A friend of mine recommended Patton Door & Gate after he's used them for over a year. Stephen showed up to assess the damage and quickly emailed me a quote for two garage doors that needed lots of work on condo unit I just moved into. I then called a couple of other companies to compare but got a really bad feeling from both. One wanted to replace my entire garage doors, which was unnecessary and a very expensive project. The other kept asking me in technical terms exactly what I wanted done, when I would've preferred he told me what I needed to do to just get them to work. One of Pattons' workers showed up early in the morning, finished the project and even cleaned my garage which was pretty messy with dirt. Asked me to wait another 20 to 30 minutes could not, had to return back to work. Called office following week to speak with A. We purchased our home at the end of May 2022. We had various providers out to get various things serviced to our level of comfort. Our old garage door provider in LA referred us to Patton. We wanted the door serviced as it was pretty noisy and there was a lot of dirt/sand inside (maybe a seal was missing?). We just felt it was best to have the door "serviced". Troy came out to service the door on 06/03/22. He was pleasant and sprayed down a lot of the parts and the spring/coil. When he was finished, WE pointed out that the one side of the door was "popping" when it was rolling up. He said oh that's just an track/roller adjustment, which he then adjusted at OUR request. He also said our door was noisy just due to the quality. The dirt/sand issue was never addressed. Upon our return to the home for the season in October, we noticed more sand/dirt and realized that top panel does not lay flush; leaving a gap for debris. I called Patton 3 times in the last week and have been told that my message was given to Nate. We have not had any return calls. I'm disappointed that Patton has not called back. I asked politely should we just go to another company at this point. I was told that she could not answer that. I said okay, thank you, and she said she was sorry and hung up (politely). I am disappointed that Patton didn't call me back, nor even want to finish/correct something from their last visit that we promptly paid for. Additionally, if we did not stand there and watch the technician, he would have just sprayed the door, adjusted the spring/coil, but never addressed the popping sound. FYI, everyone was polite, but lacked the sense of customer satisfaction/retention. It's unfortunate that I have to write this, as we will have to pay another company to come out. On time for appointments, quality products, fair price, neat and professional installation, phone call to follow up after completion to make sure that I was satisfied. Seems like a common scene approach to business but I rarely see this type of service anymore. I would highly recommend this business. Danny Clements, who came out to write an estimate, was on time for our appointment and made suggestions based on my needs and his experience. Once he got back to the office he emailed me a detailed, itemized, estimate and gave me a time frame for getting the work completed. Steven Welch, the installer, was on time, courteous and gave me an overview of what he would be doing. He is a consummate professional taking almost six hours to remove the old garage door and opener and making sure the new equipment had solid wood to bolt into instead of just using the previous mounting bracket locations. He also filled any holes from the old install. He set up all the WiFi connections, remote-opener fobs and went over everything with me before he left. The garage was cleaner than it was after he left! He removed all the old equipment plus any packaging from the new install. I'm enjoying my Clopay insulated garage door (18.4R-Value) and Liftmaster Garage Door Opener, WiFi enabled with "Back Up Battery". It is so quiet when the door is activated!!!! read more
