I put a request on Yelp for estimates to install a new garage door opener. Within minutes I had several "canned" automatic responses saying they received my request and they would get back to me, or asking me to call them to discuss. Carlos from A Team Garage Doors was the first person to respond. He actually gave me a written quote "as I was able to request on Yelp". Something VERY weird here. I have read all of these wonderful reviews, and I believe them---or at least I DID. But our experience with Carlos has been VERY different and we are baffled. When our large driveway front gate motor eventually died, we called Carlos who installed a new, and very expensive gate motor. It cost about $5000. The new motor has given intermittent problems, and during the past couple of months it seems to run in a random fashion with a mind of its own. The gate just opens, and remains open, at random times. Firstly, it is a large security gate--so the entire purpose of it is defeated when it opens and stays open! And secondly we have dogs, and a fully fenced/walled property so the dogs dont wander away, which would be the most heartbreaking thing imaginable. Most importantly, the motor is clearly defective, meaning that it is not working as it should. We have zero security, and zero protection for our dogs with an unreliable gate motor. Here is where things get wobbly. We called Carlos about this, and even though he did come out to the property, he refused to even look at the motor. Worse than that he was incredibly rude, and even hung up on me! And even worse--he expressed no solutions, no plan to fix, no ideas, and his basic bottom line was "sorry Charlie, if you want to get a new motor, go ahead!" I was dumbfounded. I pay my bills on time. I have no problem with any vendors. I just want the items to work, especially when they cost about $5000! Obviously, one expects people to stand by their work and to make sure anything defective is left in good working order. Perhaps Carlos was having a bad day when this went down. Who of us have not had a bad day every once in a while? I have texted him to return and he has texted back that he will "take a look" tomorrow and that he stands by his work. We shall see. As this unfolds, I will correct and update this review--and nobody more than I would like to write that the service was GREAT and everything was solved and it is all working perfectly. If this is all fixed, I cannot wait to give 5 stars like the others. But, if there is a two step that leaves me with an expensive and defective machine that needs replacing, you can bet that you will read about it here. I LOVE small independent businesses, and have been so very fortunate to have discovered a few who have done work for me for decades! I would like to join the chorus of other amazing reviews for this man. A simple "dont worry, we'll get to the bottom of this and we'll get it fixed" would have been terrifically reassuring, not to mention good customer relations. read more

I was leaving this morning to do some shopping and get gas, but my garage door would not open. I tried to open manually, but the door would not budge. I saw that one of the springs were broken. Being Saturday, I was hoping to find someone who was working, Carlos was at my house within 90 minutes and replaced the springs. While he was there, I told him about other problems I was having with the door and had another company look at the issue. The other company said I needed a new garage door opener, new rollers, and need weather stripping around the door. Their serviceman never got his feet off the ground to check what the problem was.
