New favorite breakfast place! Went here with bae a few days ago due to great reviews on yelp! We wanted to go somewhere new. I loved this place!!! And I loved that it wasn't crowded! Menu had a great selection of omelettes, griddle, eggs, etc. but I stuck with basic eggs and hashbrowns. Cooked as requested, over easy, and hashbrowns were outstanding. Crispy outside, tender inside. Hubby had eggs and corned beef. He likes that yucky canned stuff. Said it was nice and hot. But would have given a fifth star if it was homemade. Service was friendly and fast. Kudos for that because it was very busy. A constant stream of customers. A bit of a wait for a few but no more than five minutes. I frequent this restaurant on Fridays to eat a great lunch and do payroll. They are across the street from my office. Have eaten here twice after asking a cashier at a local grocery store which restaurant a man buying tons of fresh produce worked at. She told us Patty's in La Mesa and we were there the next morning to try it out. Everything was delicious. Had the veggie frittata (which stayed very hot in the little pottery container) and the next time we visited, I had the pork chops and eggs which were cooked perfectly. Thank you yelp for helping me find this little gem! Looking for breakfast after our cowles mountain morning, and the cowles mountain cafe was closed, we found this place. DON'T BE TURNED AWAY BY THE OUTSIDE APPEARANCE! We pulled up, and would have left, but we were starving, so decided to just walk in, and if it was dingy, we would leave. Obviously we stayed and so glad we did! Super cute little place, fresh flowers on the tables, and in the bathroom, which was cute and very clean. The hostess and waitress were both top notch, and kept our coffee hot and full! The menu made it difficult to choose 1 thing.. I went with the gyro omelet and was very happy with my choice. . Hands down the best chicken fried steak in San Diego (that I've tried). For CFS, it's all about the breading and Patty's has the prefect recipe . It's flavorful and not too crispy (aka hard or burnt) but not soggy at all. The cube steak was tender, which is hard to do on cube. They also have homemade salsa which you can tell was made of fresh tomatoes. The service was fine but the place itself is a tad bit tiny so expect to wait on a busy day. The chocolate chip pancakes were a hit and my takeout order was packed with two big portions of maple syrup and butter. I also got a side of sausage patties which were hot and delicious. For me, Patty's left a little to be desired in the flavor department. I ordered the french toast and thought it was ok, but it needed a little pizzaz- it was a bit on the dry side too and just tasted ok. If you go, I'd recommend trying something other than the french toast. read more

I've only been here for breakfast. My boyfriend likes it because he doesn't really like breakfast foods and can order their kebabs instead. He had the chicken kebab with fries. I snuck some tastes and found it to be really good! Especially the fries- they season them with an Old Bay like seasoning. I got the sausage,eggs and biscuits and gravy. It was tasty but the sausage wasn't quite as seasoned as this southern girl expects. The home fries had a nice crunch to them. Overall, a great meal for decent prices. I'd recommend it. I grew up coming here with my family. We've been coming here since it was called "Family Chef". Now it has new owners, but the feel is the same. My favorite thing to order is the gyros and eggs Greek style. Or, if I'm not as hungry, the lemon chicken soup with a side of pita. Also, don't forget the tzatziki sauce! They load us up with the tzatziki!! I appreciate how the quality of food has never changed, the wait staff is so kind and remembers my family, there's never too long of a wait, and everything is affordable. My mom and I were here for breakfast today and we liked it! It's clean, nice decor, nice servers, and good (if not really varied) breakfast menu. Standard breakfast fare, but it's hot and fresh and well made. Mom's biscuit was literally still steaming when they brought it out. I like to eat my pancakes with just butter if they're good enough, and I didn't have to use any syrup because they were tasty. Asked for extra crispy bacon and got extra crispy bacon! Another plus worth mentioning: The bathroom was spotless and even had fresh flowers. A nice touch! Right next to Big Lots and a very nice Goodwill thrift store, make it a breakfast and shopping day! My first trip to Patty's was a great success. I was very happy with my cod sandwich and my colleague enjoyed the turkey sandwich. Both were unique. The cod was two filets, deep fried. The turkey came with grilled tomato and chilies. To finish the meal we enjoyed carroy cake and lemon pie. Again, the ingredients were fresh and had a little extra that made it unusual and delicious. Very friendly homey place. I brought my kids for early dinner after the orthodontist- around 4:30 pm so it wasn't very busy. The menu is huge. Tons of options- pretty eclectic. This was good because one of my kids is pretty picky and they are in a phase right now where neither will agree on anything the other wants- so I was hoping the varied menu would appeal to both of them. I have to admit that after reading the menu, I didn't have high expectations. There is a lot going on and I was skeptical one kitchen could do all those types of food well. We were pleasantly surprised. I had a veggie frittata, my son (the picky one!) had a gyros plate and my daughter had eggs and bacon. Everything was really tasty. My daughter promptly dropped her entire fried egg on the floor and started crying. The server brought her a new one right away. The staff was very friendly and service was prompt.
