    Super sweet, tender strawberries
    Anne A.

Super sweet, tender strawberries and great service! The service was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The gentleman who helped me was awesome even offering me a taste of a strawberry before committing to buying a box. Highly recommend picking up a box of local Oxnard strawberries right now at Paty's Farm if you're passing through the area as the strawberries are full of flavor compared to what you can get at our grocery stores. Pro-move: Always ask for a taste before buying. :)

We found this place quite by accident on a day we were avoiding traffic on other roads and just wanting to take a nice drive. My eye caught glance of all the brightly colored fruit from inside their little open air building, and while my head turned around to look, our car didn't. I quickly looked up Paty's Farm on Yelp, and made a quick mental note (and a bookmark) that we must go back another day. That day became a week later....... and what a good thing. Well, I've now tried their cherries, peaches, blueberries and nectarines, and wow (!!) they are delicious. The nectarines and peaches, while almost overly ripe, are soooooooooo super sweet and juicy, I'm drooling from thinking about them. In one sitting, we ate 2 nectarines and a peach. They were that good. Sad to say, I've kind of given up on strawberries the past few years because of pesticides and how easily that fruit absorbs all that poison, but I have to say, the flats of strawberries all looked absolutely gorgeous. I'm kicking myself for not buying some. Maybe next trip back there, I will. Everything looked delicious, and from what we bought, it certainly has proven to be so. The prices are really great, too !! For us, this place isn't too far from where we live, but for a lot of you, it might be....... go anyway !!

I saw a social media post about this place earlier this year. I knew I had to make it a point to…read morecome and check it out on their opening weekend. It definitely did not disappoint. It's located in the beautiful city of Moorpark. Somewhat situated in a semi residential street. There's no parking lot, just street parking. We came around 10 am and there was already quite a bit of people there. There's a sign at the front that says to pick at your own risk. The regular customers came prepared with big buckets or wagons and pruners. They have medium sized white buckets you can borrow at the entrance to collect your persimmons. Then you make your way up the hill, which is pretty steep. There are lots of fully ripened persimmons on the trees of varying sizes. They had another section further up that was still cordoned off, perhaps not yet ripe. They have two different varieties of persimmon trees throughout the farm. We had a blast picking persimmons for a good hour. The persimmons are sweet and at $1.50 a pound definitely worth it! We got about 25 pounds which will last us quite a while. I'd definitely come back again next year prepared. *** I wouldn't recommend it for elderly with difficulty walking since the hill has some steep areas and is not level. Also beware with toddlers walking around by the trees as there are several small branches sticking out that are perfectly eye level. Today there was a woman that had a nasty fall while picking. Paramedics had to come and take her to get medical assistance.

Messaged her but no response. Would give 0 stars but there's none here. So 1 star it is. Would not…read morebe coming back here because I found a better place for U-pick persimmons and cheaper!

Went to this farm with honestly no expectations, and it ended up being one of the most memorable…read moreexperiences ever. I surprised my boyfriend with a date here, and we both left completely obsessed. We learned more about ostriches than we ever imagined possible, got unbelievably close to them, and even had them nibble on us -- which was equal parts hilarious and unforgettable. Every second of the tour was incredible. Now, to keep it real: this is a small farm. It's mostly ostriches, some desert, some fencing, and at first glance you might think, "okay... giant birds in the dirt." But that's kind of the magic of it. The beauty of this place sneaks up on you the same way a really good book does -- at first it's just paper and words, and then suddenly you're emotionally attached and questioning your entire existence over an ostrich egg. Lou absolutely made the experience. He has such an amazing life story, so much wisdom, and a genuine passion that shines through in everything he talks about. But honestly, the real tour isn't just about the birds -- it's about the way Lou sees the world. One minute he's explaining the mechanics of ostriches like some kind of desert bird engineer, the next he's pointing out California quails you never would've noticed on your own, talking about nature with the kind of excitement that makes you start paying attention too. He'll happily talk with you for as long as you're willing to engage, and you leave realizing there's so much life and beauty packed into what initially looked like "just some land." Also, this man talks about his wife with such genuine love and admiration that it honestly restored my faith in humanity a little bit. It was so sweet hearing someone speak so splendidly about their partner after clearly building a whole life together out there. The entire place feels full of heart because of it. And the honey!! Don't skip the honey. Absolutely delicious. We also bought an ostrich egg for $60 and honestly... worth every penny. We painted the shell afterward and made the world's biggest deviled egg, which is still one of the funniest things we've ever done. Such a unique souvenir and experience. There's also so much more here than just the tour -- Lou's son teaches archery lessons, there's a small campsite, and despite losing their cherry trees from the fire and flood, the farm still has this incredible spirit and resilience that makes you admire them even more. If you go, just keep an open mind. It might not look like much from the get-go, but if you really listen -- really let Lou show you what this place means to him -- you realize you're somewhere genuinely special. It's funny, heartfelt, fascinating, and weirdly grounding all at once. Must see. So glad we went. Stop by -- you won't regret it.
