I have passed by Patzcuaro's a ton of times. A few weekends ago, my friend suggested going for dinner before we headed to a show. Happy hour was still going on when we arrived, so we got the ranch water, tacos, and a side of guac from the HH deal. I also ordered bean tostadas since I was still hungry, and they customized it without cheese for me (dairy free). I can't wait to go back and enjoy their large patio for another happy hour. The service is always great here. We are greeted right away & the service is fast! We love the chips and salsa as well as their natural aguas frescas. My favorite is their cantaloupe (melon) one. Friendly staff who are primarily Spanish-speaking but they know English as well. The ambience is charming on 32nd St. especially on the patio. I had a cantaloupe Liquado that was huge and very tasty. For food we had cheese enchiladas, and the special Michocan Plato with carnitas. The Carnitas were tender, but I would've liked a little more sauce with the meat. It was on the dry side. If you drove on this street you would see it! It's a gem in a neighborhood! The service was great. The food had flavor. The portion size was perfect. Food: I had the ground beef burrito. It was smothered in green sauce and cheese. My spouse had the Michoacán Carnitas tacos. The corn tortillas were fresh and hot! My dad had the menudo and killed it! Lol. He said it was very good. Patzcuaro was still mediocre overall; green Chile and beans were average, though chili relleno was pretty good. Green Chile and beans are the essentials for me, and those get a resounding "meh." I was hoping to get my usual buche tacos, but we were informed that they no longer serve buche as the new population of the very much gentrified neighborhood isn't interested in the popular and traditional Mexican food. Okay, Patzcuato's, I see you. We went here for dinner and came about an hour before they closed. They have a house grande margarita which is about 11 bucks and pretty potent. My friend recommended the beef flautas which were really good. In addition we also had the Albanil tacos. Those tacos were really good! I'll definately be going back for them. Carnitas are wonderful - cooked perfectly to provide both a juicy and a crisp experience... and they eliminate fatty pieces really well. Went here for a late lunch last week. Always a roll of the dice on these little Indy fam-owned places, but Patzcuaro's is hitting on all cylinders. Simple, tasteful, interior with great natural light, a nice compact menu with a diverse offering, and everything was delicious without being over-plated. Long week, Friday night, I was about to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant but decided to try something new, why not? I remember seeing this place around Yelp and also driving by it, a quick 10 minutes from home. Headed that way with the plan that if it was too crowded to just go to the italian place across the street. Found parking right across it, and as we walked in a table was leaving so grabbed that table. Service at first was a bit slow, but don't blame them, it seemed like they were a bit short on staff - which seems to be common these days everywhere. We sat in a two-person booth across the bar, so the bartender took our order and took great care of us. We started with two of their house margaritas...let me tell you, I am fairly picky about margaritas, and it was an instant hit for me. Great fresh lime juice, strong enough but not overwhelming tequila flavor, and not sweet. After one marg, I was already feeling in a good place for some tacos. We ordered their queso with chips, and it was a delicious way to start our meal. I went with the Albanil Tacos. 4 corn tortillas, with a lot of carne asada, topped with thin fried potatoes and onions. I know it sounds weird, but their salsa and some lime juice, and they just hit the spot ona rainy cold Friday. My partner went with their Enchiladas Michoacanas.  The flavor in that pork was delicious, and they don't skimp on the meat at this place, both my tacos and the enchiladas are very meaty, and flavorful. We left full, but not stuffed, which is great, nobody wants to feel like they overate and now feels gross. I will definitely come back again, and can't wait to bring friends and family over to try their delicious pork carnitas. read more

Came in for my first visit off of the recommendation of my girlfriend. My visit lived up to the hype. Parking was a bit challenging. The server had a bit of difficulty with English, but did an excellent job. We ordered a meal of fish tacos and another meal of shrimp tacos. They were authentically delicious. The tortillas tasted very fresh, the cabbage gave a nice crunch and the fish/shrimp was quite tasty. The chips and salsa that came out ahead of time was also really good. After numerous attempts from my boyfriend suggesting this place I finally caved in. I really hate the parking in the LoHi area which was keeping me from trying this place out. Among coming in, there is a sign that lets you know that they are under staffed but honestly, with the great service you wouldn't be able to tell. The service was great, they are always attentive to the diners, making sure everyone was helped and gets what they need. You get free chips and salsa which is awesome! My boyfriend ordered the chicken burrito and it was delicious. I ordered the asada tacos which were really good and big portioned! We also shared the jumbo house margarita which you couldn't even taste the alcohol (my fav!). Overall, great food, great prices, and amazing staff! I was in Colorado visiting family and was craving some carnitas, when I saw this place was know for 'authentic' Michoacán style carnitas so I decided to give them a try. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted and seated. The restaurant is a decent size and wasn't too busy for a Saturday afternoon. They have a good selection of food as well as drinks. I opted for the carnitas and a michelada, which you can get with any beer you like. The carnitas come with frijoles de olla, guacamole, pico de gallo and hand made tortillas which is always a plus. The carnitas were soft, juicy and flavorful. The miche definitely hit the spot after a night of drinking :') I would definitely go back to this place whenever I'm back in town. read more

Incredible highlands Mexican restaurant! This is a small place that packs in big flavors. When we arrived it was seat yourself. We took a booth and were immediately served with delicious chips and salsa. For my entree I went with carnitas and the hubs got chicken enchiladas. The carnitas were slow roasted for six hours and were some of the most tender and flavorful carnitas I have ever eaten. Absolutely delicious. They came with homemade corn tortillas, guacamole and beans. Perfection. The hubs really enjoyed his enchiladas and thought they were among the best he's had in a while. Tried this for lunch today which was recommended by a friend. Man, am I glad I did! It's a family owned establishment and very unassuming. There are wooden booths throughout the restaurant and patrons seat themselves. The servers are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The food is delightful, not too salty or spicy and perfection at it's finest. Warm tortilla chips and a nice, smooth and spicy green salsa greets you while looking over the menu. I ordered the Asada Tacos Plate which has 4 fully stuffed corn tortillas filled with steak. The retried beans on the side melted in my mouth and were so smooth and creamy. The rice was simple but delightful. It was all served with a fresh medley of tomatoes, onions and jalapeños on the plate, which I topped the tacos with. My husband ordered the chicken burrito which was a tortilla stuffed with retried beans, rice and shredded chicken. It was smothered in a delicious green chili and cheese and topped with sour cream and fresh guacamole.
