Fantastic little spot. They have soft rellenos, and I am more of a crispy relleno guy, but it was still great. The green chili was flavorful. Not super spicy, but good. The rice and beans were awesome. Stopped in for lunch with some co-workers as a normal spot nearby was closed, and we were all pleasantly surprised. We now have two spots to choose from on this same block that we know are great. Parking is always a bit of an adventure on this block, but not impossible. Our daughter and son-in-law took to brunch here after church. I ordered the Chicken Flautas, my wife ordered the carnitas plate, and my niece ordered the menudo, along a horchata. We arrived early enough to beat the crowd. The restaurant is located in the Northside, or my bad, The Highlands (still can't get over all the political correct city names, lol). The food was great, and the atmosphere was nice. However, the only downside side is the parking. We love this area, and love Mexican food. So we checked it out. Glad that we did. Friendly service, and fresh chips and salsa. I loved the thin and crispy chips. Salsa was flavorful. We ordered a chile Relleno burrito which had melted cheese and was smothered with their green chile. I also really wanted an horchata. We split the burrito, as usual. I was bummed to find that the entire stem of the pepper was left in my portion. Glad I didn't bite into that. But the burrito and the smothered green chile was really flavorful. We got a side of salsas, and none were especially spicy, but they had great flavor. The horchata was great. It was in a really big cup, with lots of cinnamon. I am happy that we stopped by. I can't fault the food - but the service experience ruined everything. So I'm waiting there for 20 minutes... and a few more people are ahead. We are promised our table is up next. I'm with a five year old so nothing is easy So these people come in, after i arrive, through the side door. Instead of taking names or making people form one line - they end up giving some of these people my seat As a waitress was leading us too it! We only had to wait a few minutes more but nothing pisses me off more than letting someone skip me in line AND not even doing anything to make it up There are plenty of restraints in Denver. This is my go-to for Mexican food in LoHi. Their menu isn't very big and their seating is limited, but what they do they do well and with exemplary service. The hours have changed a bit so make sure you get out to dinner earlier than you normally would, but it's worth making the accommodation. So what's recommended? I loved this little restaurant! We ended up here after nearby Uncle told us they had a two hour wait. It was already 7:00 pm and we couldn't imagine waiting til 9:00 pm to eat, so we wandered down the road to this Mexican restaurant. The chips and slightly spicy salsa that they serve as complimentary starters are delicious, and when my date and I polished them off in mere minutes our waiter quickly brought us more. He was also accommodating in helping me create a vegetarian meal, offering a veggie fajita that wasn't on the menu over the more typical chicken or steak. Outstanding burrito. I immediately felt like family once I walked in the door. This is the authentic Mexican food in the highlands and the prices are great considering the location. I came here on a date, we ordered a chorizo burrito, enchiladas, and two margaritas- it was $40 not including tip. I had a hair under my burrito that I didn't want to mention because I was on a date. When we got the hand written check, the server clearly rounded up on the bill at least $2-$3, I still tipped 18% but was not happy about it. Again, I was on a date so I didn't want to confront the staff about the hair or the rounding up on the bill. I am a firm believer in a good margarita. I love coming here, the tacos are mix and match 4 somes, with great meat selections. You always get a bowl of damn good salsa before your meal and don't get me started on the salsa flight they give when you order the tacos - so flavorful! Toddler taco tour 2019 stop number 7! Always a good sign when you walk into an ethnic restaurant and you are the only white dude there, this place did not disappoint. There are definitely times when you walk into a restaurant with a toddler and the weight staff visibly cringes...not at this place, they welcomed my two and 1/2 year old with open arms setting him up immediately with his own glass of water and his own basket of chips. This place is totally legit, probably the best carnitas that I've had this far on my tour, my friend that joined us had lengua and tripe and surprisingly both were incredibly delicious! The girlfriend and I live in Longmont and recently went to the Aquarium on a day off together. We were really hungry after and found this place. It's a very cute and nice establishment with some of the absolute best Mexican food I've ever had. The tacos, meat, guacamole and they even the best sour cream. It was all phenomenal and honestly very decently priced. Planning to drive through Denver in a week for so and 100% driving out of the way to eat here on the way back. Great service too read more
