A super cool "hole in the wall" type spot. When I walked in, no one was there, but within 20 minutes there was a bar full of people. This place is definitely no frills, which makes it a quintessential dive bar. The bartender was awesome. The local patrons were friendly. And the drinks were well priced and stiff. Paul & Jerry's Saloon is noted to be the oldest family owned bar in all of Arizona, being built in 1899. I was in town visiting the area for the day with a friend and we came in for some drinks. The historic aspect of this place is just cool enough. By no means, is it fancy or of the times, you must appreciate it for what it is. Seating includes booth, tables, and bar seating. There's a room in the back with a couple pool tables, and arcades, and in the main room itself there is a juxe box. Something to keep in mind is that the establishment is cash only with an ATM available. Prices were good and the drinks came out nicely done! Would love to return should I be back visiting. read more

You aren't going to believe this, but my cousin met the co-founder of Bitcoin here. No joke. AND, he got to hear his wild story of Hillary Clinton owing him $500 trillion. You can't rate a place less than five stars when it attracts rich techies of his stature. Unfortunately for me, I was in the bathroom at the time and when I came out, my cousin was so eager to get out of there just so I couldn't meet the man as well. Selfish. Aside from the crazy guy, the bar was great, and the bartender was even better. Apparently it is the oldest bar (or maybe business) in Jerome, which once was a ghost town (a real one) but has been revamped to a hip place to visit. If you are in need of a cool drink for your parched throat before you shit shotgun in a car down the long windy hill, I highly recommend this place. read more

AVOID this place. Extremely rude bartender. If you like being treated badly, this is the place for you. My daughter walked to the door to give our friends a bag of food they had left, and she was told to "leave and not come back in". Our two full drinks were poured out with no other explanation. If the sign is to be believed this is the oldest bar in AZ and it's always been family owned. We enjoyed a half day detour through the quaint town of Jerome and decided to have a drink here at the oldest bar upon reading the sign. The bartender was super friendly, the other patrons were nice as well. It's an old-school bar: it looks like it's out of another time almost. The selection is pretty basic--I didn't see any beers on tap but you can get a decent bottle of beer if you're tastes aren't limited to craft beers. read more

My wife and I wandered in here on a day trip to Jerome, looking to grab a beer to calm our nerves from the ride in (if anyone has ever driven to Jerome, you know the switchbacks to get there can be rather frightening)... Paul & Jerry's is probably the oldest bar I've ever stepped foot in, boasting an establishment date sometime in 1887, and it shows. The beautifully ornate tin ceiling... the dated posters and photographs... even the bartender... they've all been around for awhile. It was mostly locals hanging out, but they all seemed friendly enough and didn't seem to mind a few tourists in their bar... at least we could claim to be Zonies. The bartender chatted us up for a bit after serving us 2 ice cold Fat Tires, and gave us some recommendations of places to check out. The bar is cash only, but they did finally add an ATM so you don't have to hunt one down! Whoever was picking out the music on the antique jukebox had pretty good taste and must have dumped quite a bit of money in it, as the music rarely stopped! We will definitely be back, hopefully for an overnight trip so we can get wrecked with the locals and get in an old fashioned, wild west bar fight! read more

I usually wind up at Paul and Jerry's whilst visiting Jerome after the loud music at the Spirit Room has gotten to me. The place oozes with history and is more mellow and laid-back than The Spirit Room. That being said this place is a two drinks max place for me. There's usually not enough going on that makes me want to cozy up and hang for very long. However there is a pool table AND a Galaga/Miss Pac Man arcade game at the back. As a Galaga heavyweight back in the day, a Galaga challenge one particular day did keep me there longer than two beers....I just didn't think you could pinch a nerve hitting the "Fire" button rapidly....I must be getting old. This is one of maybe four or five drinking choices in Jerome, so it's inevitable that you will wind up here if you're thirsty...how long you stay is up to you. Just beware, it's cash only. read more

This place is run by an incredibly rude owner and/or manager. Whoever it is felt it necessary to claim it was "MY BAR" three times in under a minute. So my wife and I entered this bar at 6:30 pm on Sunday of Labor Day Weekend in a wine town with a bottle of wine in a bag just purchased from a great winery. Manager/owner runs over to us and says "If that's wine, it can't be in MY bar. You have to leave now." I pick up the wine trying to hand it to him and started to ask if we could just leave it behind the bar. He barks first, pointing to a 7 month child "and MY bar is 21 and over only. You have to leave now". Someone else in the bar says, "oh that sucks." Owner, rude once again says, "You don't have to be here either. You can leave MY BAR too." So... he kicked out 7 people from the bar because I walked in to see what my friends were doing and had an unopened bottle of wine purchased 2 minutes prior from the winery next door...in a town that wouldn't exist without tourism. **Other information learned from the others kicked out of the bar: The bartenders wouldn't serve the other patrons because they sat too far down on the bar stools and were "past the serving area". Manager or owner's quote: "You guys are way past my serving area. We can't serve you". Patrons happily walked 10 feet down the bar to place their orders from behind the 4 locals sitting in their bar stools. There were only 14 customers in the bar with 3 employees working behind the bar. 7 of the customers were kicked out. 5 were already there drinking independent of my intrusion. 2 of us (my wife and I) were in the bar for under 60 seconds before the manager/owner made a scene. We left without comment. I'm leaving my comment here instead. Please see my positive reviews of the two wineries and amazing deli in town. Tourists from out of town are not welcome at this bar. read more

This was a VERY sweet place that we checked out for Fourth of July and on a first Saturday, for the art walk. The place was decently busy for being the middle of the day, but wasn't so busy that it was obnoxious (like the overly loud bar a couple businesses away). The owner/bartender was sweet and did a great job of managing drunkenness, and customers with a gentleness and professionalism typically not seen by bar staff in other cities. If we were to return to Jerome, we would LOVE to go back to Paul & Jerry's. :) P.S. Look up at all of the old pub antiques, especially the Budweiser memorabilia. read more

This place was a good time. Luckily I had a couple drinks otherwise I wouldn't have gone because it said cash only. I don't like cash only places. The other bar that was open was dead so we decided to hit the atm and come here, it was fun. The bartender was very friendly and quick. The place was a bit overpriced for cash only, usually because they don't pay card fees they make the drinks cheaper but not here. I enjoyed it here for the most part. Great bar. This is what an American bar needs to be. There were bags of microwavable popcorn for $1.50. Underneath the bags was a microwave to heat them up. I drank beers here with a feeling of history behind me. I felt like I was trapped in a positive energy vortex without paying the $80 for healing in Sedona. read more

Worst bartender I've ever encountered in my life. I walked to the door to tell my friends (who actually weren't even there anymore but I thought they were, but the sidewalk and street were empty) that I would meet them back at the hotel. I was told by the bartender to "not come back in" because I walked to the door to talk to my friends (who I thought were outside the door but weren't even outside anymore) with a drink. He poured both full paid for and tipped drinks in the sink. My mother walked out to follow me since I was left outside, and she left a bag of expensive things she had purchased. She went back, and he quote said "I put your stuff outside on the bench and I don't care what happens to it." We were not intoxicated. This was a disgusting experience, and whoever was working this evening should be fired. If they truly hate their job that much, they shouldn't be there. I would think that they want the business this time of year? Didn't seem like it. We were treated like garbage and I wouldn't recommend. read more

He shared the great history of Jerome and encouraged my return suggested the State museum! The place is a fine warm example of life in Jerome today!
