The stylist and instructors are nice and willing to work with you. However, Linda at the front desk is rude. I drove AN HOUR to support the students at this institute. I bought lunch for my stylist and showed up early so we could eat together before my appointment (lunch is at 2:30 my appointment was at 3:30). Unfortunately, my stylist's prior appointment ran late and that was okay I put my lunch in my lap and started eating in the corner of the waiting area. The other woman at the front desk graciously offered for me to sit at their table to eat. Linda came in and made a fuss about me being at "her lunch table" and started going from person to person at the salon trash talking my stylists. This was very unprofessional and rude. Twice I've been charged more than the amount that I sign for at the beginning of the service. I could understand if it were a color or added steps but it's a child's bangs cut. A training business of all places should instill integrity and both 1, ensure their stylist knows their own rate as their written fee from 2 different stylists was lower than what was charged by the cashier and 2, honor their written price the stylist has the customer sign. read more

I called at 9:17am to see if they would be able to take walk ins or do same day appointments for full color, and I was told yes over the phone. the girl that I was speaking to gave me two times, 11:30am, or 1:30pm and I told her that I could do 1:30. she took my information down and said they would see me at 1:30. its hard for me to get any days off during the week, and it was a last minute day off, and that is why I called first. When I arrived they told me that they did not see my appointment and also that they do not do color services on Monday. Now I know to always keep in mind the name of the person to speak to because just waisted time, and canceled lunch plans so I could get my hair done. read more

Used to really like coming here and they always did a good job on my hair. Most recently, I went and my hair was cut by a girl named Gretchen. I asked for a 1.5 inch trim and layers. Her supervisor walked by a few times and confirmed that she was doing everything correctly, and my hair ended up looking like this. You are delusional- As a previous customer who is a Senior with a blue handicapped placard, the couple of spaces directly in front of the consistently were blocked off for students. I experienced this on Saturdays and would usually have to arrive early to ensure I could park in the few spaces left because of mobility issues. As a long term customer who always kept my appointments, arrived on time, had good relationships and always tipped the students regardless of the skill level, and having been recently bullied by your "educators" because YOU are trying not to get shut down by the State for improper practices, I am not sure why I have to call you? I will be glad to call the State licensing board instead to give them details of my experience the last four years. read more

I cannot give this school enough praise and compliments!!! They performed my first haircut EVER and a balayage!! They were so nice to me and the school has the lowest prices you'll get!! It's super affordable and they really try to save you as much money as possible!!! My haircut was only $6 because when it's your first time you get $10 off!! And my balayage was only $87! The girl that did my haircut was named Monica and she super sweet and a great perfectionist! She makes sure to make conversation with you and makes sure you're comfortable. Another lady that helped me was named Lizzie and she was super sweet as well and they made me feel super good about my new cut! I'm not saying this because I went to school here but because I did take a tour of every of other school before I made my choice and even just the tour of this school I felt right at home. Ms. Suzette and Ms. Mel the Admin Director and Director of the school welcomed me with open arms to the family. The journey I endured while attending school was not an easy task and I have to say with out these phenomenal women in my corner fighting for me to finish my education I never would have. I have been to TSPA several times however I am extremely disappointed with my last service. My initial appointment was on 12/17 for a partial highlight and cut. The appointment took 7.5 hours and the instructor did not listen to the student when she suggested re-toning my hair additionally the instructor did a horrible job on my money piece (she made it way too thick). Then, I had another appointment on 12/29 to have this corrected. In my second appointment, my hair was fixed; however, I was charged $51 for them to correct my hair from the initial appointment. With this in mind, I am upset that I spent over 9 hours and $150 dollars for a partial highlight and haircut. I could have gone to any salon and spent the same amount of money and would have spent less time on the services. If you go to this salon, expect to spend more time than normal and I would recommend asking for a student who is about to graduate to avoid coming back for corrections. read more

My wife and I have been here several times, and we love it! Ms Lee is wonderful at the front desk, and our different stylists have all been very professional & knowledgeable. Instructors meet with the stylist and client before the first cut and then quality check towards the end and then signs off at the end, so at no point are you in the hands of a novice, which I think some people think happens. I went in for a cut and color yesterday. This was my first time going, so it was kind of 'I will get who I get', and I am happy with who I got! Naomi was great! Although while I was 'curing', she had to do a cut on someone else, and missed out on getting to do my cut, (which she was super bummed about), she did a wonderful job on my color. I went from a light brown/blonde, to dark red! Since I had previous color on my ends, I ended up with an awesome ombre, which at first I wished the top was a bit darker, like the bottom, the ombre is growing on me! Naomi was always checking on me to make sure I was doing okay, even when she was doing another cut on someone else. She checked with me on the colors she was going to mix, before she mixed them. Naomi was also fun to chat with during this whole process. Although it was a bit of a long process, I understand she is still learning and is taking her time to do it right! I will be going back to see Naomi while I am still living in the area! Great job and thank you!! read more

Wow! I was seriously blown away by this place! I have never gotten my hair done at a school before and I was a little nervous since I was touching my highlights. Frank, my stylist, was very attentive and took his time with me. I never felt rushed given the fact I was there for a while! He was so helpful and when my toner didn't come out exactly how he planned, he re-toned me and it came out perfect! Keep in mind that the stylists are students and they are learning. They will consult with their professor and this didn't bother me one bit. In fact I liked it because you're getting more than one opinion on what's best for your hair. Frank made sure I left happy! Never again. Had partial highlights done & you can't even tell anything was done to my hair. Tried to tell them & showed pics but no they think know everything. The girl took little 2" sections down one at a time to dry my entire head which was taking forever; didn't have a correct brush to do it properly & didn't finish drying my hair, left it damp, was also to use a flat iron to straighten, no she said she could do it with blow dryer (wrong) & was supposed to get eyebrows done but no she didn't have time & basically left. Her educators who supervise are too busy chatting with each other. Waste of my time & money. I took cosmetology in school so I do know a thing or two. They wouldn't even let me finish drying my own hair. I could not use their blow dryer & here I was going somewhere afterwards! What with very damp bangs & ends. She was not a good shampooer either. Everything just half ass or not at all. And dare forbid if you say something. I do not recommend them at all. Oh they took $7 off the bill. Big deal. Leaving 1 star for this overall wasted 4 hours. read more

I was shocked to learn that my partial highlite was $92.00. The bill shows: partial /one scoop $33.00, color zone 1 was $31.00, toner $19.00, and lastly $9.00 for a conditioning treatment I had agreed to. I have no clue what the charge for color zone 1 is?? Needless to say, I won't be getting any highlighting services there again. My regular hairdresser charges $80.00 and that includes a full highlight/haircut. Her talent, attention to detail , knowledge and creativity are above and beyond anything I have ever seen in all the years of getting my hair professionally done. I had the best experience EVER yesterday! A few minutes after walking in I heard Mr. Christian pumping the girls up with some music/dancing and stretching (I think that's what it was). I had a great experience being new here to San Antonio. The receptionist when I called got me in same day when I was expecting 1-2 week wait. Ms. Stephanie at the front desk was super sweet. Zoey was my stylist and did just what I wanted and the best partial highlights and hair cut I have had! I will definitely will be coming back for services. Then I had a gentleman that took care of my eyebrow wax and eyebrow tint very professional, caring and did awesome! My only complaint is I saw him go outside to smoke and I know my stylist was trying to hurry to get me over to him for my other service. He went out to go smoke in his white esthetic coat and he took care of me right after my stylist was done cutting my hair and reeked of cigarettes and his hands too. I am super sensitive with my migraines. All in all great services, but I will be seeking a different esthetician next time just because of my own individual problem, nothing to do with the salon. read more
