During a routine examination, Dr. Kaiser noticed an anomaly on the retina of my left eye. Recognizing the seriousness of what she observed, she immediately referred me to a specialist in retinal conditions. That referral led me to an advanced specialist who confirmed that the anomaly was, in fact, a melanoma -- a type of cancer. I was then referred to a surgeon in New York City who specializes in treating retinal cancer. The treatment involved a cutting-edge procedure in which a radioactive disc was placed on my eye. Fortunately, because of Dr. Kaiser's timely detection and insistence that I seek further evaluation, the cancer had not metastasized to other parts of my body. Her vigilance and dedication made it possible to treat the condition before it became life-threatening. My husband had an appointment for his eye exam but it snowed overnight and he was not able to get out on time. When he called, they were very understanding and said he can come in whenever he could get there. Since I went to the gym early, I pick up hubbs and my son and we all headed over to Vision World. Despite not having appointments for myself or my son, they still accommodated us and after waiting a short while, we were able to see Dr. Sujoy. She checked all of our eyes and while hubby was getting his exam, my son and I picked out our frames. I got a nice lightweight frame that was pricey but durable and I'm sure I'll be using them for a few years before changing them out which is why I didn't mind the cost, plus, I look all sexy Sally Jessie Rafael in 'em. My son went with a pair of Tom Ford frames that look great on him. Hubby picked out a nice pair of Ray Bans that fit him perfectly. Our transaction was effortless. Once we had our eye exams and picked out our frames, it took another ten minutes and we were done. They called when our frames were ready and picking them up despite not having my receipt was an easy process as well. Most vision places to which I've gone will sell you the frame in the case and here at Vision World, I just love the fact that you're actually getting a new pair. It's so refreshing to feel like you're actually being helped and not being pushed to buy. They were patient with us and explained everything and I'm happy to have found the place where my family and I will get all of our eye care needs from now on.

I was told they price match 800 Contacts--and maybe they do--but if they forget to apply the price…read morematch, they won't issue a refund, even when it's their mistake. Instead, they only offer store credit. They also try to justify higher pricing by pointing to promotions like "one or two months free" or rebates, claiming it's a better deal than 800 Contacts. In my view, either you price match or you don't. There's also a lot of pressure to buy contacts on the spot. The pricing they offer is presented as a "same-day only" deal and typically requires purchasing a full year's supply upfront. My advice: ask them to print your prescription and consider buying your contacts elsewhere. That way, you're not locked into purchasing a year's supply all at once and can shop around for the best price. Also, note that Dr. Cindy M is no longer with this practice.

Front desk deals with the billing, charges (copays) and collects upfront. While I prefer getting a receipt right away, they told me they'd email me instead, which took a bit of work - I had to actually go back and get it in-person the next time we visited since a promised email version never was sent to me - a blemish in an otherwise good experience.
