I had nail emergency and was in need to get my mani done. I called my regular place and they were closed :((( I looked up on Yelp and this one came up on my search and called to make an appointment. When she was trying to remove my old gel, she wasn't as gentle as I wanted her to be. I started getting nervous and wasn't sure if she was going to do a thorough job. Well, it turned out she did. She did a very thorough job and a week later, my nails still look great! They seem to have nice pedi stations (they have two really cute kiddie sections too). Place is TERRIBLE. Even when you have an appointment they make you wait 15-20 minutes. I've gone to them a few times and will never go back after todays visit. The lady doing my nails was so beyond rude. I picked a color then sat down she did my toes that color then she realized that the color I picked she doesn't have it in the nails dip. Which she should of pulled the color before so I could match them. So I didn't care and she brought over new colors so i picked a new color then she went to go look for that and she didn't have that then got and at me because I didn't like the other colors she did have to match my toes. And was rolling her eyes and grunting and ignoring my questions when I would ask things about color since she didn't have those colors laid out on the sample nails?? So I could only see the dry powder. She got mad when I asked if she could just wet it on a nail so I can see how it will look. She then proceeded to talk in her language clearly about me because they all started laughing. I got up and just paid for my pedicure which they over charged me when I was told at the beginning the pedicure was $25 and they charged me $32.. never will go here again read more

I've been coming here for pedicures and the occasional manicure for several years. Tammy always does an amazing job. So much attention to every little detail. Very friendly and professional. I had gone in to get a pedicure and a fill. My pedicure was great, the woman who did it was wonderful and incredibly sweet. She was pregnant and was working hard and making sure I was more than comfortable. My fill was a nightmare. A different woman did it for me and not only was rude, but extremely aggressive. Not to mention.. my nails look awful. I paid a total of $65 for nails that are nowhere near what I am used to and pay 30 for. They are bumpy and uneven and one week later, have nearly all broken or ripped off. To even attempt to put into words the amount of pain I am in because of the poor nail quality would be a task.. don't go here unless you're wanting to waste your money and get rude service. read more

If you happen to be in vicinity of this salon and think that getting your nails done would be convenient, please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I was a walk in and stood there for at least a few minutes until someone acknowledged me. Granted there were at least 4 nail techs in the shop busy with customers but still, it seemed awkward. I almost left until finally someone came up to the counter. In hindsight I wish I had left. I sat down for my manicure. I was given a bowl of warm water to soak my hands in. Even though I still had gel polish from a previous manicure, that gel polish didn't come off first, which was strange. Instead, the focus was on soaking my hands in some non-soapy water and doing some cuticle work. Next was getting the polish off: only by using the drill tool, which was also used to buff the surface of my nails instead of buffing manually. I thought this was odd. No manually buffing, just the dremel. A little more filing and then the polish came out. I wasn't asked how I wanted my nails filed so I got rounded which I don't like. This was the best part though: once my nails were painted and dried, my nail tech got up and left. She took everything with her and vacated her spot. I wasn't told anything. I was left sitting there looking up at the TV. As I was sitting there, I looked to one side and saw some lotion so I put it on. At that point my nail tech came back, saw I was using lotion on my hands, and said, "what are you doing?! I wasn't done". I responded that I didn't know that. She then filed a little off the side of her terrible paint job, and then told me to wash my hands. I came back, sat down, and she asked in a very incensed tone, "did you dry your hands?" I had no idea what she was talking about, of course I dried my hands. I looked down and saw a section of my knuckle was damp. OH MY GOD THE HORROR. At that point she then applied lotion to my hands. Terrible. Just terrible. I have been getting manicures regularly for years and have never had this bad of an experience. My nails did not look good after I left: she didn't clean underneath the nails, the tips are round, it's been a week and I'm getting another manicure, a much better manicure (I'm sure of this) elsewhere to undo the terrible job that was done. Went online today to look up the number to this place to get a pedi at lunch. I noticed on their website they advertise 25% off for new customers who book their first appointment online. So I did that and went there at the time of my "appointment". I mentioned my appointment that I booked online when I walked in. Sat with my feet in cold water for 15+ minutes while other people were serviced....I guess they somehow had real appointments? Then when I went to pay the guy running the place looked at me like I had 3 heads when I said I was a new customer and had booked online and it should be 25% off. So I paid full price, still tipped the poor busy girl that did my nails more than 20% (it's not her fault) and now I'm posting this picture of their website so nobody else makes the same mistake. read more

You know those mornings you wake up, look in the mirror and realize your eyebrows are out of control and they certainly didn't look that way when you went to bed? I was having one of those days so while I was picking up lunch from Wildflower I noticed a sign at the nail place next door saying they do eyebrow waxing. I've got $10 and some time to spare, what could go wrong? Nothing we wrong actually. They weren't busy so I got them done instantly, she was quick and to the point. My only complaint was when I went to pay, I wanted to add the tip to the credit card receipt but was told I couldn't do that and needed to go find cash. So out to my car I went (while she held on to my card) to find a few bucks. I've continued coming here 4-5 more times and each time by eyebrows look great. I have yet to get a mani/pedi but from what I've seen, they do a great job as well. read more

My boyfriends Mom and Sister referred me to to Paulene's. The place is sort of hidden between a yogurt shop and Wildflower Bread Co. I walked in on a Thursday mid afternoon, asked for a mani/pedi and got right in. I was surprised how busy the were for it being mid week and all. The staff was nice and polite and complimented my color choice...perhaps they were just being nice. :) Tammy did both the mani and pedi. She was very patient with me as I had asked for the Gel Soak Off for both. It usually takes a bit longer as there are more steps involved. Tammy was sweet and had a very relaxed tone in her voice. She worked clean and efficient and didn't try to push any extras...which I hate!! 4 weeks and counting after my visit, my pedicure looks brand new. Sort of amazing for an open toe shoe junkie. Visiting from Mn and decided to try a different place in Scottsdale than I normally go to. Found Paulene's on Yelp and had good reviews so decided to check it out. Took my husband and son with me...my 7 year old loves getting pedicures with mom :). We were seated right away and given bottles of cold water. I noticed that the water started off hot, but as soon as they had the two other bowls filling my water was running cold. That is why I didn't give them 5 stars! I love soaking my feet in hot soapy water and here I got "warm" water. Other wise everything was great. Staff was pleasant and very welcoming, chairs were nice..service was quick. Do check their prices! I noticed on the card it said pedicures with everything we received were $32, at the register it was $37. If their prices changed, it didn't reflect it on their menu. I've been going to this place for years and still have yet to find another nail place like it. I drive 30 miles just to get my nails done and a pedicure because they're the best at both! It is located in Scottsdale so the prices are a bit higher than most. I get acrylic nails with shellac polish and a pedi with a scrub and it comes out to about $77 before tip but they're SOOO worth it!! Their pedicure comes with a complimentary hot stone rub at the end and is magical. Their chairs are amazing, make sure to flip the head cushion back for a more comfy feel. They have plenty of juicy gossip magazines (my guilty pleasure when I go to the nail salon) and other types as well. I've never been burnt or cut when getting my nails done here which is a HUGE plus plus in my book. All the staff is super friendly and not pushy at all! They also will cut my nails super short (most places won't, no matter how many times you ask). This place is amazing! Be sure to check it out and bring cash for a tip because they don't accept it on a card. read more

Worst experience I've ever had! I work by there so I stopped in to see if I could get my nails done and she said it would be about 10 minutes cool so I ended up getting my nails and my toes done I went to go put my feet in the water and it was cold so I told him he did turn the the warm water on but never turned on the Jets the blue Powder stuff they put in the water never even evaporated it was just floating on top then she comes over to do my nails while I'm getting my pedicure I have white dust all over me and the finish of my nails are horrible they're not smooth they have a rough feeling I also am missing a toenail and I asked him to paint it and it looks like a child did it don't go here it's not a good place I want a full refund they were also more worried about talking to each other then making sure their client was happy and then started sweeping and mopping right in front of me I mean I work in customer service you never do that in front of a client especially in that type of setting read more

I had the choice between a pedicure or a haircut/wash/dry as a present from my lovely boyfriend yesterday as part of our Valentine's Day celebration. A pedicure and leg massage sounded great so I looked up salons in the area and found decent reviews for Paulene's. After I walked in they had me pick out a color and sent me to a chair. A girl walked up with a plastic liner for the tub and set it in, then turned on the water. It wasn't feeling very hot and she asked me if the temperature was ok and I said I would like it hotter, like REALLY hot. And she smiled and nodded like she understood me. But it was just luke warm. I thought maybe she would add more hot but no. She asked me again and I said it's still not hot enough. I think she either ignored me and didn't want to drain the water and refill it or something I don't know. Either way I gave up and sat back, already sad because the hot water is one of my favorite parts. She was also SO quiet I could barely understand her. Usually it's not a problem for me knowing what someone is saying even if they have an accent, but she was speaking in a whisper and I had to ask her a few times to repeat what she had said. I decided to get the salt scrub pedicure it was $5 more than the regular at $29 total. She clipped my nails and cuticles, did a pumice stone scrub, then brought the salt scrub out. I really like their foot rests here, they aren't flat but more at an angle, and can be tilted forward or back to accommodate what is going on. So none of that awkward lifting your feet and your leg getting tired deal. The salt scrub felt great and she spent a lot of time on the massage. After rinsing she rubbed in a lotion, then went to the back and got hot stones as well as a hot wet towel to wrap my feet in. After all this she used some type of oil on the already lotioned legs and that felt super soft! She started on the clear coat and then color. I chose a dark tan and there were barely any mistakes so I was happy. I sat for at least fifteen minutes to make sure they were dry. I brought cash so it wasn't a problem to pay and leave a tip. I would go back here for the great service for a decent price, but I will be sure to make it clear from the first moment I walk in that I will accept nothing but painfully hot water ;) read more

My first 2 visits were fantastic. It is very high in price but it is really clean and most of the technicians do a great job. But the technician I got the last 2 times was terrible. I told her specifically what I wanted multiple times. What I got was all the the length taken off my nails, a weird diagonal shape and polish pooling at my cuticles. When I politely and tactfully attempted to tell her about mistakes, she snapped back at me each time. I spent 6 weeks trying to grow my nails out, just to have it all ruined by a bad technician. When I spoke to the manager, he did nothing. Just said "Ok". I've spent over $600 in 4 visits. I will not be back. read more

I'm from LA here visiting family and this is their go to nail salon. I've been to 2 different locations and each time it's been a great experience. Each location was very clean, the staff very friendly and accommodating to any special need/request. Sanitation is priority number one here- the foot tubs have liners that they insert so your feet never touch anything that isn't protected. I was looking for a place to stop in and get a pedicure and found Paulene's on Yelp. The wait was around 15-20 minutes, which is not unexpected for a walk-in. There was a nice selection of trendy polish and the bottles weren't half full and gooped up. They line their tubs so I felt right away that they would get 5 stars for sanitation alone. I have been going here for years. The place is tucked in next to Wildflower Bread Company in the Sonoran Shopping center. The place is spotlessly clean, the people are friendly and pleasant and they are always willing to accommodate me. The tubs for pedicures has a disposable liner for each appointment and the instruments used are in a sealed sterile bag for each client. Prices are very reasonable. I realized on New Year's Eve that I had done some terrible planning on my part and may not be able to get in to get a mani/pedi before my trip to Mexico due to most places being closed on New Year's Day. I woke up early and headed to the closest place to where I was house sitting in hopes to beat the New Year's Eve rush. I was able to get right in here at Paulene's. Hannah was very friendly and did a great job. My pedi is just now starting to look as though it needs freshening up (2 weeks have passed). My mani started to go after a week, but I also spent a lot of time in the ocean during that week. My only issue with this salon is that you cannot add a tip on if you are using your credit card. I never carry cash and always use my check card. I had to head to the atm afterward to get cash for Hannah. I wonder how many people just end up not tipping because of this. Horrible. My two girlfriends and I wanted a fun Valentine's Day and treat ourselves since the guys were all working. First off I show the lady what I want and she keeps telling me they can't do what I want. Ok, I get it tricky design. The next I show her was a simple polish w one nail chevron the other glitter. She completely botched my nails. Two of them have sharp edges one was filed into a diagonal line...and the chevron looks like my five year old niece did it. My friends girl botched her design too and wouldn't even fix it. My girl fixed it and it came out even uglier than before. What's worse is i asked for change for my tip and the owner just took my cash and said bye. They rushed our service seemed like they didn't care and now I'm out $50 bucks for a horrible manicure. We will never be back and are letting our north Scottsdale friends know as well. If I could give it Zero stars I would. read more
