Update: The brand new battery I had to buy went completely dead in a week-and-a-half. I'm no expert, but I suspect the crew at Paul's hooked up the electrical system so that the battery is always powering the engine, even when off. It looks like I will have to get a tow to a competent and honest mechanic to have everything fixed Paul's broke. I wish I could give less than one star as a warning to others. read more

I was not satisfied with the experience I had. I have a catalytic converter to a throttle body to battery to an alternator to lastly telling me the the part that needed to be replace was the abs module. Luckily I fixed the catalytic converter on my own with a few bottles of fuel cleansers the code disappear. The battery was changed,oil change was done and the throttle body was changed. All that amount of money plus the time consuming to tell me that he will replace the alternator and if that wouldn't work and turn off my dashboard lights that I will get my money back. When I told him that my lights were turning on again he said that the part that needs to be replace was the ABS module but he never refunded me my money that I had expended replacing the darn alternator that didn't needed replacing. When I told him to refund the money because he said he will do it, he said that the alternator needed to be replace too which was BS because the engine light was never on and codes never mentioned anything about alternator but of course they will say whatever they can to no refund their own misdiagnostic. After that I didn't trust them anymore because it seems they are just guessing with their codes read more

I just met Anto (son of Paul) and he is a super nice guy. Very professional and you can tell he does quality work and is honest. I took my car here for service and a few repairs and the quality and speed of the repairs was A-class. I dropped off my car on Saturday and in 2 days he was able to fix everything on my BMW. Ok so I left a negative review before because of what Paul's did to my sisters car. Well the other day our other car, which Paul's also fixed, suddenly starts idling rough, so I take it to 'my' mechanic this time to have it fixed and tuned. When I picked up the car our mechanic of 20+ years told me today that it needs a new timing belt and water pump, so I look at our (Paul's) receipt from this past February, and lo and behold there they are, all bought and paid for. Update - They also charged me for a new car battery that wasn't even two years old, just like they did to my sisters 4 month old battery. They also didn't return my battery, like they did to my sister, and it still had a warranty. Maybe this place used to be honest but it seems they need to reevaluate their business morals.... Lesson learned but I'd really suggest to everyone who decides to take a chance - Remember to ask for your old parts back! read more

A genuine man with genuine prices, paul is one of the cheapest mechanics i know, went shopping around looking for a family mechanic and i have finally found my one. When I moved from AZ to the South Bay my uncle told me to take my car to Paul's son, Anto. I LOVE THIS PLACE. My review may be skewed because all of my bf's family brings their cars here. However, Anto is intelligent, experienced, and kind. As a female especially, any car troubles is stressful. Anto always solves any issues, and works with my broke-ass. I come here for oil changes and engine/suspension issues. Owner is rude like he doesn't need your business. Won't give you a ballpark price until he tears your car apart (first clue). Then you get the call several hours later with a hefty repair bill (it was at about double what it should have been). What to do now? If you're like me, you took the day off work to get your car fixed and really have no option at this point but to have Paul's do the repair. Can't afford to pick up your broken car, take another day off work and bring your car to another repair shop. I went off the 5 favorable Yelp reviews and learned a hard lesson (need at least a 100 reviews to be legit - lots of fake reviews out there). So much for trusting in the hometown repair shop. I was referred to these guys by a close friend who swore by the place, and I was totally impressed by the quality of service and care taken by this establishment when it came to fixing my car. They are super busy, and now I can see why. The cost of repairing my car was quite fair, in fact, when I was shown the bill, I asked "is that it??". Keeping many services at 1970's prices, with a friendly, generous attitude. He will warn you when services are coming up, and never overcharges. I've been going to Paul's for years. Anto is great as are all the mechanics there. The other day the belts on my Suburban were squealing so I drove over there. The mechanic on duty asked me if the car had been sitting for awhile (it had). Then he said the rust just had to wear off the belts and the squealing would stop (it did). There was no charge. I take all of my vehicles there. Prices are reasonable, service is great. If you have someone picking you up pull around the back into the alley and avoid the sometimes crowded parking lot. Brought a car here on Friday, on the recommendation of my aunt. My aunt, uncle and cousin's all bring their cars here. I don't live nearby, otherwise I would definitely patronized this excellent shop. Anto did a pre-purchase inspection and explained to me that the car I was considering was "a nightmare." This car was going to be for my cousin. I told Anto that my cousin has been sober for three months and needs a car for a job he's starting this Tuesday. Anto did the inspection, even though we brought the car in late on the Friday before Memorial Day. this place just reamed my 68 year old mother for $2000! my sister's car was running rough so my mom asked her neighbor for a referral. well I just looked at the bill and I am outraged! my sister said the car is still running rough because they fixed everything that wasn't an issue. they changed the front and rear brakes and the front and rear shocks, which wasn't a complaint. they changed the air conditioning belt, also not a complaint, and it still doesn't work properly. they changed the spark plugs and wires but not the distributor cap nor did they do a computer tuning, so that's not even a complete tune- up which is all she needed in the first place! I'll update my review later after we take it to my mechanic, which I told her to take it to in the beginning. oh and they replaced a four month old battery that still had a warranty and then recycled it without our permission so we can't even use the warranty now! my dad was a mechanic so my whole family knows about cars except my mom and it's sad that we can't even trust a business to help her when we can't. totally disappointed! read more
