Paul's hasPause has to be the best Chicago Tavern style pizza in Florida that I have tasted. The restaurant is consistent every time I order. The decor reminds me of back home. The restaurant is retro style Chicago. It puts me in the mind state of Chicago Tavern. Will be returning in the near future and highly recommended this restaurant.

Service was great. Prompt and friendly. Restaurant was clean. Pizza was mid but affordable. One slice was about $4. Probably won't be back personally.

This place never is the spot for my wife. She grew up in Chicago and their pizza just hits home for her. Friendly staff and quick service. It's located in the Publix plaza. The pizza has the perfect crunchy crust. The wings are also great. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. We usually order garlic parmesan poppers because IT IS A MUST. I encourage anyone to swing by if you're in the mood for pizza . They have all sorts for pizza toppings and make it to how you want it.

First time I've been to Paul's Chicago Pizza and I was very impressed!!! This is an order at counter restaurant and they bring the food out to your table when ready. Entire restaurant is adorned with festive themed decor which looks great!! Food was brought out in good time and was perfect temperature. Ordered 2 pizzas, one was the 8" Buffalo chicken pizza and the second one was a 16" thin crust cheese pizza. Both pizzas were excellent!!! The thin crust was perfectly crispy and not over cooked!! Highly recommend trying this restaurant out!! They have a great variety of menu choices in addition to what we ordered. They have soft drinks as well as draught beer and more to drink. Looking forward to visiting again soon to try some more of your menu items!!! Great job overall to the server and also kitchen staff for making my experience worthwhile!!

XL Sausage & Pepperoni thin crust Chicago pizza

Man, what a good move it was driving over to Paul's Chicago Pizza in Clearwater, FL yesterday... Everybody was super nice and friendly and welcoming -- and the XL Sausage & Pepperoni thin crust Chicago Pizza was dynamite! And it turned out to be a lot closer to Town & Country Tampa than I realized, which is going to be an issue! It tasted like fresh, top shelf ingredients put together by an experienced, talented crew... It even reheated beautifully for my wife's dinner tonight, and she was really impressed... I just finished the last four squares, which is what inspired me to come here to make a review... Incredible... Their menu contained a lot of my favorite things so I will be back...

Ever since I moved to Florida from Chicago I have been looking for real Chicago style pizza. I have found places that advertise Chicago style pizza that is not Chicago style pizza! Finally, my search is over! Paul's Chicago Pizza has real Chicago style pizza. The stuffed pizza pictured is incredible. 1 piece is a meal. The stuffed pizza weighs in at 5 pounds! Unfortunately the St Petersburg location does not offer the stuffed pizza so I took the ride to Clearwater. Well worth it!

The thin crust is delightfully flavorful.

The best pizza I've had in a long time. Do yourself a favor and Don't miss out. Smal town quality in the big city.

Ex Chicagoan here, great thin crust done properly. The sausage is the authentic fennel style reminiscent of home.

The best pizza in town. No egg in the NY style is a plus! A lot of traffic locally goes to Nona, but we almost always go to Paul's.

All over the country and world. The restaurant was small, old school. They also have an outdoor covered patio ( we sat inside) The pizza was outstanding, I get the hype. So much on the menu looked / sounded amazing but I was there for the pizza. Staff was great/ friendly / efficient ... if we lived closer, I'd eat here every week.

Unfortunately, the dishes I ordered were edible but bad. First things first, the tables were uneven, which made dining feel like we were eating on a seesaw every time someone moved or put pressure on the table. Most of the staff, including the bussers, came across as rude and inconvenienced. The only positive part of the service was our server, she was friendly and attentive. As for the food, it was very mediocre and did not feel authentic or up to the standard I would expect from an Italian restaurant. The penne vodka was bad. The sauce was bright red rather than the creamy pink vodka sauce you typically expect, and the pasta itself tasted like standard boxed pasta rather than a higher-quality imported product. I also ordered a caesar salad and specifically requested no Caesar dressing since I have an anchovy allergy. I asked for balsamic vinegar and oil on the side. When the salad arrived, the Caesar dressing cup had been placed directly against the lettuce and was touching pieces of the salad. I pointed this out because cross contamination is a serious concern for people with food allergies. Rather than immediately replacing it, the bus boy seemed dismissive of the issue and did not appear to understand the seriousness of allergy related cross contamination. That alone told me all I needed to know. The replacement salad itself was average at best and tasted like something you could easily make at home. The vegetables served with the meal had the texture and flavor of frozen vegetables that had simply been steamed from a bag. Overall, nothing about the meal stood out, and the servers and staff were not friendly.

We were seated as soon as we arrived, and throughout our visit the service was really good. My friend and I were having a very hard time deciding, and when we asked the server, she flat out told us that the two things we were torn between were awesome and we should order both and split them. We got the shrimp and grits and the lobster Benedict. On their own, the grits weren't anything special, although they were texturally great. Now when you add the shrimp and gravy . . . This dish is a whole other deal. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, and the gravy was super well balances. It had the perfect level of spice. The lobster Benedict had a perfectly poached egg, and it worked so well. The mornay sauce was a lovely touch. I'd definitely order it again, but I would also definitely order the shrimp again. Long story short, our server was right, they were both amazing. I also got a standard Bloody Mary, which was solid. I would definitely go back to this place. It's got an upbeat, family friendly atmosphere, and I think it's a great spot for locals and out of towners alike. It's also well priced. I'd also love to try their beignets or French toast next time. They've also got a huge lunch/dinner menu that I'd definitely want to try if I were in town for longer.

Ambience was like your regular breakfast place or diner, but definitely family friendly. We were there with our 8 month old baby boy and felt comfortable. Food tasted pretty okay, we ordered coconut shrimp, fish n chips and chicken tacos for brunch! The fish was a little undercooked and the batter was still a bit wet inside. Other items were not bad. For drinks, I ordered their popular pomegranate mimosa which came really flat (no bubblies) and in a wine glass! I sent it back and got a mojito instead - which tasted a lot better! Additionally, we were not aware the breakfast menu closes at 12 pm and we were already seated, so kind of felt obligated to order from the lunch menu at around 12.05 pm! It was too early for a sea food lunch for us! We saw the table next to us had ordered breakfast just a few minutes before us but we were denied because it was already past noon. Overall a pretty average experience. I was expecting a little more authentic experience but turned out to be just like your local diner.

This was clearly a vestigial pizza joint. Based on talks I've heard around Clearwater Beach, this was at one time a hotspot for tourists and locals alike, however I heard a lot of controversy that surrounded the place. Truthfully I was way too gentle with this place when I first reviewed it, so I'm here to rectify that before I leave this review be for good. The "pizza" I had here, if you can call it that, in 2024 was an over-glorified ritz cracker with cheese and tomato sauce...Absolutely no flavor, no substance, and it went down like a rock; I had gas station oven pizzas that tasted better than this. So little to say but so telling at the same time...The owners really had no pride in what they were doing at all to the point that they were borderline catatonic, and the entire place was in disrepair when I last visited it; Nothing was organized, wires were hanging out, and it was just straight up a rundown eating environment, which is a far cry from when it used to have outdoor seating reserved for its place. All of it was really offputting. Captain's Pizza was a shipwreck of its own doing and it was honestly time to abandon ship, just to keep it in tune with the theme.
