When we pulled in the parking lot, it looked like every single spot was taken. We were thinking that it was gonna be a long wait. Thankfully, we got in and they only made us wait. About three minutes. Our waitlist was a sweet old lady, but when I asked her for prices on soup and bread basket, she was sassy in her reply. Wish the prices on the menu for these items. Just in case you're wondering it was $5.75 for the bowl of soup and the bread basket is included. The soup I ordered was cream of chicken and rice. It was delicious. It was really hot so I had to wait for a while before I could eat it which is fine rather have it too hot and too cold. The bread basket was good, but the bread was kind of chewy. It was hard to eat, but that's OK because we need to dip it in the soup. It's softened up nicely. There are crackers and butter with the bread basket so I was able to add some crackers to my soup as well. I'm so glad we came here for lunch. It was delicious and filling and will be back again. They also have a beautiful dessert selection and the restaurant was decorated for Valentine's Day, which was yesterday. If you're ever in the area looking for a restaurant don't even hesitate to come here. It's perfect. My husband ordered the one egg breakfast with bacon and toast. The service was terrific Our server had a great sense of humor. However for me, they were out of practically every choice I had wanted. So I went with something basic and it came out almost raw. The owner did her best to make things right which I very much appreciated. My daughter did enjoy her food and my wife absolutely enjoyed her soup. This just wasn't the best first impression of the food for me. The restaurant was very busy which is always a sign of good business. So yes I would recommend this place as I believe my experience was not of the norm. read more

They did not have the veal (it was on the menu) but neglected to tell us until after she was about to take the order. So we ordered the Greek chicken and the fettuccini with chicken. Chicken was soooo tough in both meals,!!!, I cut into little pieces and dipped into the mashed potato, eating half the meal. So when we told her she says well you ate it!!! Ahhhh!!! Green beans were from a can didnt touch them...bread was stale. pea soup was good. we will never go back, . This restaurant use to be so good, but food has gone down hill. Went for breakfast. I had 2 eggs over medium well and they were perfectly cooked as was the bacon, toast, and hash browns. The hash browns had an odd taste so i do not recommend. It was very quiet at 1020a and my server was cheerful and kind. It was breakfast. read more

This place really sucks. I am so sorry to have to say this. There were 5 of us at the table. Our food came out in 4 minute incriminate. So by the time the last person received his food the first person was done eating. The food was cold when it came out. The lids on the child cups kept coming off. The server did not want to be bothered. I asked her for a plate to put my bread on because I didn't want to eat it off the table. The plate arrived after we didn't need it. I have been here before and swore never to come back. 2 out of 2 is a sign of horrible customer service. I do not feel good about leaving this review but I was short of walking out. didn't care for this place, prices weren't worth the atmosphere or service or food quality even. it was just not a very nice place. a guy working there had a hat on saying read banned books or something like that. this pecan roll we got was dry as a board. and the colette was burnt and flat. guess the toast was ok. orange juice was good. not sure why they charge an extra $3 on my card when paying up front. some kind of processing fee i guess, seems shady. they have a donation for the homeless jar up front yer i never seen them give anything to anyone homeless at all. the waitress didn't introduce herself at all just said u guys ready to order, that was the first thing she said when she came to the table. go to syrup on randall instead. read more

I don't know if they had a different cook, but it was a big fat waste of money. I love the Greek restaurants... this one was just OK. The chicken rice soup was delicious. Salad was just average. (( a little on the warm side, could be a little more enhancing than a quarter of a tomato.) had the country fried steak, which was very good mashed potatoes a mixed vegetable. I would give that four out of five we also have the breaded pork tenderloin. I would give that maybe a two out of five very dry overcooked. I miss the assorted dinner rolls and breadsticks, but otherwise I would probably give this place three stars only service was wonderful very friendly. Very accommodating. I heard about the great food at this restaurant while listening to talk radio show "Out To Lunch" on WRMN 1410 AM - Elgin, Illinois. So I went there this morning to check it out. The place was exceptionally clean, several large dining areas, well lit and nicely decorated. I was seated quickly and the service was very nice and professional. The turkey was so tender you could cut it with your fork, the stuffing was delicious, and the homemade potatoes were out of this world. I freaking love Paul's. The place reminds me of restaurants that my mom used to take me to when I was growing up, especially with the big cake display in the front. The food is simple and to the point. And STEAK FRIES. We love the soups and the breakfast. A great burger. Fried Chicken! And service is on point. While we love our Robin, all the servers there have been great and friendly. The other thing I love about Paul's is their love for the community. This is often shown in clothes drives or their shared bookshelves. Just a great place with great people. And if you're GenX, it will give you the 80s-90s feels all over again. read more

Huge omelet me with lots of fillings, fish fry and good side fries that taste amazing dipped in ketchup and desserts that you need to make room for! My husband and I went here for dinner on Saturday. Once again, it was amazing. My husband had the full slab of ribs and I had the Saturday prime rib special. Both were absolutely fantastic and there was so much food that we had dinner again tonight. The dinners came with a salad and cup of soup. We had the French onion, which was very tasty. Everyone there is so nice. A lady named Betty went table to table, talking to everyone to see if they needed anything very sweet. This restaurant used to have very good food. The last year or two it has really gone down hill. Because it's close and we find it convenient my husband and I go back every few months to see if the food has improved. Last night we went back after more than 6 months and again the food was bad. My roast chicken was tasteless and mushy. The dressing was mushy, tasted like crap and had tiny chicken bones in it! . Our salads were ridiculously meager. Both of us had a different soup and neither was close to being good. We are done going back. It was a waste of $40. Very sad. They need to CHANGE the cook!!!!! We thought we'd give Paul's a second chance. Unfortunately, it was bad food again and no customer assistance. Undercooked shrimp and rice in the Shrimp Creole. We sent it back to the "cook" yet we were still charged for it. The lady checking us out was dismissive, giving excuses, "they've been selling it all day; also stating one lady complimented it." Well, good for that lady! Perhaps her food was cooked. Or is this an admision of one large crock pot? And the Gyro meat isn't even shaved off. It's most likely frozen packaged meat. Worst gyro ever! I won't even go on about the out dated look of the restaurant. That should have been our first red flag to STOP and turn around to seek a real restaurant. Or the the fact that the guest's in the next both sent both their plates back because it was cold; and that gentleman also refused a return plate. Disappointing. We wont be back. read more

First visit 2/1/19, Carol took great care of us, Eric W. came by and introduced himself and gave us a bit of "backstory" on Paul's, which I thought was a great, classy touch. Paul's reminds me of how things used to be when you would eat out at Greek style family restaurants. Paul's have a down to earth feel, very welcoming, Carol was FANTASTIC. Our table chose the apple sandwich (with the honey mayo, very good!), fried perch, Italian beef, and Grecian chicken, we were all very pleased. Came back yesterday 2/9/19 with some family, same great service, food very good, and very fair prices all around. Both visits, we waited about 10 minutes to be seated, this place is always packed it seems. I hope to be a customer for years to come! read more
