In terms of the qualify of the photo, they don't really do any editing or touch up like some other photo studios so pretty straight forward. It's a bit pricey if you want both digital or physical photos but I do like how they can also adjust the photo for different country's requirements. Paul's Photo has been my go to spot for all things camera for over since I can remember. I bought cameras, lenses, and tripods from this location and always had a good experience. Recently, my sixteen year old daughter had gotten into photography and had an issue with her favorite camera. Although I did my best to troubleshoot the issue and fix it myself, I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. She did some research and decided to come down to Paul's photo to see if they could help her fix it. When she took it into Paul's, she met Johnny, who could not have been more accommodating. Somehow, he fixed her camera and didn't charge her a dime. That's the kind of help and service that you rarely see anymore. She was so excited and happy, she called me to let me know. About a year ago i purchased a Nikon Z8 with a Nikon 100-400 Z lens with a 1.4x teleconverter for wildlife photography. When you visit the store you might meet the owner Mark Comon. Follow him on social media for photography tips and info about the latest products available. In my opinion, Pauls Photo is one of the best camera shops in Southern California. Great selection of all the top brands. Competitive pricing on everything. They offer all the manaufacturer Sales and deals and can match other quotes. The staff at Pauls are all photographers. Lots of nice equipment at this shop but lost stars for my most recent visit. One star for Christoper being very rude and "what do you want" attitude. Another star for the staff not knowing which promos or programs they are running. I spoke with Bill on Wednesday and he stated that they do a lay-a-way program and to bring in gear that I wanted to trade in with a deposit so they can work it out for me. I showed up on Friday and was told this was not the case by Christopher. He said they made this policy change Wednesday which conveniently was the day Bill worked ( I could see Christopher thinking of how to play this off on someone else during his long pause). Christopher seemed to just want me to get out of the store at this point which I did. I just wanted to get the manufacturer warranty and pay it off with my next check in two weeks. I could have used my CC to pay it that day but his attitude was so off settling I left and went to Samys who was offering the same rebate. I will be bringing my business to Samys moving forward since they were pleasant, smiled, and didn't talk down to me as Paul's photo has done to me in the past (minus one more star). I took a camera in to see if it was fixable. They tried everything they could, but no success. The camera is old and had been sitting for more than 15 years. My daughter needed a film camera for school. Danny was very helpful and not trying to oversell me an expensive camera. Showed me cameras that should "be good for what you need for class". I used to purchase all of my black and white film and photographic print supplies here, so it's no surprise I came back recently to have my 110 and 34mm film processed here. They have a lab in the back where they develop color. They send out the black and white film, which costs $13.00/each for processing only. Aside from the lab, they sell every photo related supplies you may be looking for, with plenty of knowledgeable staff on hand, eager to assist. They treat you like an amateur at this store, asking for a B+W clear protector for a lens, and the sales person offered me a non branded filter which actually cost more than the B+W filter that I wanted, What an upsell, No wonder these Mom and Pop store are closing down in the South Bay, I won't miss this store, when it closes down finally, Kind of douchey sales people. G R E E D Y Paid nearly $1000 for a Nikon D3500 in '21. I was charged nearly double the cost of the camera. This was concerning since the price on the Nikon website was $400-$500. When I asked why they up charged the camera, they simply said that they were a part of a small business camera shop collective that decided to gouge their customers during the pandemic (I'm paraphrasing). Some of you may be wondering why I bought the camera at such an outlandish price. I had to go through with the purchase in order to complete a time-sensitive project. This place had cameras in stock. I will never patronize a business that is comfortable taking advantage of people during vulnerable times. This business lacks integrity and makes it difficult to support small businesses. read more

To err is human. But a series of errors on one order is a sign of poor business practices. I ordered a camera and a lens from Paul's. The salesperson added a $40 shipping charge to New York. I got a notification that my package is being shipped UPS ground so I contacted them to inquire. Someone in the shipping department responded saying they had made an error. And would partially refund the shipping charge. I was hoping they could change the shipping speed but it was too late since the package had already shipped. Today I got a notification from UPS saying the package was routed back to the sender! Here is the series of blunders they committed on just one order: - error 1: Salesperson incorrectly charges me $40 for shipping. Assuming I was charged for shipping by air, why did their shipping department choose to use UPS ground? They offered me a partial refund after my inquiry. - error 2: Someone at their end sees the shipping charge is being partially refunded by PayPal, but was unaware of the original charge to my card, and wrongly assumes I never paid ... and unilaterally decides to recall the package! - error 3: The recall was done without contacting me. Be that as it may, why would you not immediately let me know once you realized a mistake was made? Why would I hear from UPS instead and then have to call them to figure out what had transpired? When I called them, I was transferred a couple of times before someone in shipping told me that they had made a mistake and started to apologize. Now they have no clue where my package is, and the camera I ordered is not in stock. I did the logical thing--to ask for a refund, that they are now processing. Sure, I am just someone in New York who they will likely never see. But this just reeks of poor business practices, internal communications and customer ethos. I am very pleased with the service we received here. My kids and I went in for passport photos. I had called ahead of time and asked for the price. The man on the phone shared it was $10 for 2 passport photos. I went in for my kids and I. The young lady who assisted us was friendly and helpful. She even gave us the opportunity to review our pictures and retake it if necessary. She informed us they would be ready in an hour. The experience was effortlessly, I recommended the establishment to friends and family. The only small hiccup was getting charged $12 instead of what I was priced. This is a great family business. Although you can get prints made at Walgreens or CVS, they fade pretty quickly or change color. These guys do professional prints that last a lifetime. And if you need someone removed from Photo, they can do that as well. Peter helped me with some photography skills today and could not be more helpful. So here's the story: My 12-year-old little pocket-size Canon camera finally died. It told me to replace its battery pack. I've had trouble even getting the battery out to charge it & the camera is pretty beat up so I figured: time for a new camera. I wanted one that will fit in my pocket on hiking trails, like my old one. Instead of driving to Paul's to buy one (I didn't know if they even carried something so unsophisticated), I allowed my son to get one online & have it delivered to me next day. Big mistake & one more reason I never shop online. My shiny new Canon Power Shot arrived, a blazing purple little beauty. I was so excited until....where's the cord to plug into my computer to retrieve the pics? Instruction book said use WiFi. Huh? I'm a technically challenged (by choice) old broad & I want to plug the damn thing in like the old camera. And WTH is a SIM card (or whatever that thing is, packaged separately) that I'm supposed to install? "Well, I saw the thing comin' out of the sky It had a-one long horn and one big eye. (Ooh!) I commenced to shakin' and I said, "Ooh-eee! It looks like a purple people eater to me!"" Well he came down to earth and he lit in a tree I said Mr. Purple People Eater, don't eat me I heard him say in a voice so gruff "I wouldn't eat you 'cause you're so tough" It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater...." - Sheb Wooley, 1958 Like I shoulda done in the first place, off to Paul's I went. And yes, they sell those little Canons. Shame on me. I brought my old camera, my new camera, cords, cases, chargers, the kitchen sink...everything I needed to get rescued. Talk about Covid awareness! Enter Paul's at the front after you wait for someone to escort you, exit thru the back. Don't touch the products, shop with your eyes. In my case, I stood at the counter behind a plexiglass barrier while 2 masked employees (I was masked, too, of course) got what I needed while educating me on rechargeable batteries & everything else you could imagine in language I could understand. It was wonderful & peaceful. Did I mention that the back door & front door were wide open, allowing the breeze to ventilate the entire store? This place is super safe during the apocalypse, trust. Their parking lot is in back or you can park in front on Hawthorne next to speeding cars piloted by crazy people. I parked in back. So. The battery in my old camera was actually warped from age - the reason it was hard to remove. Paul's had a new one in stock. My old power cord was beginning to fray. New one in stock. Old camera became good as new! The zipper was broken on the old hard-cover case so It was suggested I take it to the shoe repair in Redondo Village. Why didn't I think of that? New camera: It can be plugged in! They showed me how. They assembled all the confusing gadgets, showed me what to do, wooohoo. I bought a new case for the purple beauty. Now I have TWO working cameras. I was told to come back any time if I screw anything up (my words, not theirs). THANK YOU, PAUL'S!!! They had all three in ample quantity. I called a few photography stores in the south bay, and greater los angeles and Paul's photo inc was the only store that had all three in stock! Not what I would call an "advisory" business (which in 2022 is the only advantage a small business has over buying online, namely that they can help you). I try to go to small local businesses instead of buying online whenever possible especially if I have questions. If they help me and answer my questions, I insist on buying there regardless of the markup. They do not do this. They sell you what they have not what you need. I asked several questions, and they misrepresented several material facts that I searched online about immediately when I left the store ( because their answer didn't make any sense and seemed quite expensive) to find out that cheap adapters would have answered my question, and for the use case I gave them would have been a much better idea ( and they still would have gotten a camera sale out of it). Now because you were trying to position an unnecessarily expensive camera instead of answering the question honestly I bought the camera on Amazon (and the adapter) This is not a good idea in 2022 read more

The people at this shop are super nice. My child was given an old film camera by a friend. They brought it in to Paul's. Initially, Paul's discovered the lens was damaged and needed to be replaced and found a relatively cheap replacement. After some additional investigation, Paul's found multiple other issues with the camera which made it unpractical to repair. After a fair amount of time spent by Paul's , the end result was that my child left without spending any money. It would have been so easy for the shop to sell a lens or a repair that was ultimately useless, but they chose to be honest and helpful instead. We need more shops like Paul's. read more
