He came home from the office, settled into the chair across from me, crossed his legs--and suddenly his shoes began telling their story. The soles were practically crying for mercy, while the uppers looked like they had been through a long, hard negotiation with the sidewalk. He mentioned he'd been meaning to go shoe shopping, but hated the thought of giving up the comfort he'd earned breaking these shoes in. That's when I reminded him about Augie's Shoe Repair--the place that brought two pairs of my own "beyond saving" shoes back from the brink. Super wife to the rescue. True to form, Augie worked his magic again. The shoes came back looking remarkably close to brand new. Of course, the soles and heels were replaced as requested, but he didn't stop there. The uppers were refinished, refreshed, reinforced, polished, and even finished off with new laces. It was less shoe repair and more shoe revival. Augie's pride in his craft shows in every detail. He continues to be our household shoe superhero. If he can keep us from buying--and breaking in--new shoes, we'll be very happy soles.

This last time, I paid 30$ for a sealing of frayed heel areas, which in all honesty, as a professional my belief is that the procedure is more then just slapping a sticky leather piece over it, but what do I Know ? Nothing. I could have bought that from Amazon for 10$ and did it myself I guess. Every time I look at these boots I get upset and of course they are not priceless but they were my favorite and that's why I committed to having them repaired. Yes trades are a lost art but I'm wondering if there is more to learn here.

I recently brought him a vintage Louis Vuitton bag that had ripped tabs (opps, should have taken a 'before' photo) to see if he could replace them. He did, and they look great. He also conditioned my bag, so it looks way better than had he just replaced the tabs. They leather was REALLY dry beforehand, and it really looks great and much more even after going to him. The prices here are extremely reasonable, and Sam's work is top notch. He is also very kind and has a quick turn around time. Highly highly recommend!
