We spent $100+ on a crappy pizza and icecream plus a few drinks. That being said - the views were gorgeous and the drinks were fine (albeit overpriced)... and we were able to snag a table at 7:30 pm. 2 stars because the view is great, it is a rooftop view. Don't come here if you are looking for good food. My husband ordered the $27 sushi that obviously came from the refrigerator. There was a chill to the sushi roll and was obviously pre-made hours before. I would not eat it if it were free to me, and I didn't want to try it. It looked like it was in the refrigerator to long, a little dehydrated. I ordered the shrimp on croissant sandwich with a side salad. The croissant was stale. The shrimp salad inside was fine. I ended up just eating the shrimp salad with my green salad, that croissant was definitely not worth the calories. If you are looking for a view, then stop in. My husband and I came here for a night cap. Such a pleasant surprise. The rooftop was gorgeous, even at night. A sophisticated atmosphere with an older crowd. There is a pool with fountains and umbrellas that we're lit up with tables and chairs around the perimeter. I appreciated the fact that each table was divided by plexiglass so you can't hear your neighbors conversations. We will be back next time we're in Charleston. For the price of the drinks, they were a little too sweet and could have been stronger. read more

Just because you are up on the rooftop, it doesn't mean the price of food should be sky high for something that is just meh! Scant grilled chicken added to the greek salad cost an additional $9 to add to a salad of mixed greens, olives, feta, cucumbers pepperoncini and 2 pieces of mandarin orange only. The salad had a good amount of mixed greens and did seem endless. There was lack of flavor on the chicken and it was tough to chew. Umbrella protected tables didn't shade all the sun and plastic panels surrounded the rooftop fencing. Waiter was okay and got our food out in enough time for us to catch a boat! The place has a pseudo swanky vibe! If you dine near the pool where you are facing it you sometimes catch birds taking a sip and hotel guests strutting around in beachwear. Bathrooms are nice with individual booths. Elevators are slow and the group of us had to take a freight elevator down. Trying to find the rooftop can also be a little tricky! Go with someone who can navigate you there if you must eat upstairs or go somewhere else to get a tastier and cheaper meal. read more

I asked for extra spicy and it seemed like an extra tablespoon of Tabasco was just dumped in, but not mixed. After going on a carriage tour and walking around town, we hit this place up to grab drinks before we walked some more. To get to place, we followed the marble entrance to the elevators and made our way up to the rooftop. We had a big group, but found a table to sit all 7 of us comfortably at a table. I felt that we waited a while to get some service, but our waitress eventually got to us with massive menus for us to order some drinks. Husband and I both got mojitos. I opted for the original and he got the mango. We both enjoyed our drinks, but found them both to be overpriced. Each mojito was around $14-$16. The straws they provided also drove most at the table nuts. The city has a rule about paper straws, but these kept getting soggy by the time you get to the bottom of your drink. Drink faster, I guess? I'm pretty sure none of us ordered a second round and so we asked for our check. The waitress never made a point to ask us how to split it and just grouped the 7 of us under one tab. But the service here has lacked each time I've been there; almost like the bartender didn't care if you were tipping or not. Each time we've been we have had to wait on an uninvolved bartender to come over and get our drink order and when we did finish one drink we had to wait again for the next drink or the check. View is 5 Stars. All drinks are served in plastic cups which feels cheap especially for the EXTREMELY overpriced drinks but it makes sense because there's no glass allowed by the pool. You are paying for the view experience, not the poorly made cocktails or snail-paced customer service. Music does not have a theme- random assortment of songs that no not mesh well. There was gum under one of the high top tables my friend accidentally touched. Disgusting. View is gorgeous from the top. We didn't try the food. Probably one of the best sunset spots in Charleston! On our weekend trip we had to squeeze in one evening of rooftop bar and I'm sure glad it was this one! We popped in after dinner to hang out for a bit, relax and enjoy the sweet sunset while being able to overlook the river and man was it the right call! Great place! Enter in through the hotel restaurant and take elevator all the way to the top. Up there is a pretty big bar and tonsssss of seating! I'd be impressed if they had this sucker all the way full bc of how big it is but I'm sure it's been done before. Great View, Slow Service Pavilion Bar is on the rooftop of the hotel and there are nice views all around. There is lots of space and nice tables with umbrellas for shade. The drinks are good. It was interesting. Took my brother-in-law on a downtown Charleston bourbon Old Fashioned tour. We went to three different places- 5Church, the Charleston Bistro, and the Pavilion bar. The pavilion bar drinks were just gross. There was so much syrup from the cherry that my drink turned almost pink. Not that dark, almost savory, smoky flavor. Way too sweet. We ordered it with Angel's Envy so I know it wasn't the type of bourbon. The bartender seemed to be preoccupied with her co-worker to really give a lot of attention to the drinks or us. Although it made for a unique experience being on a roof top with a view, I sure do wish it was more than that. Will probably not be back. I have nothing but positive feedback for the Pavilion Bar in Down Town Charleston. The location is right near all of the markets and the view is spectacular! you can see all of Charleston from every angle. Simply enter into the hotel lobby and hop on the elevator and press "P". You will arrive right at the Pavilion Bar. The patio includes a small pool and lounge chairs for hotel guests only. Outside guest are allowed to sit at the table or the bar. We sat at a pub height table overlooking the Ravenel Bridge. Cocktails will range between $9.50- $14.50 but in my opinion, is worth it for the gorgeous venue and views. The Mojito was delicious! Our waitress was simply lovely. She was young, petite girl with an accent and as sweet as can be. I came here the other night for a private party on the roof top bar. The hotel itself is a pretty fancy place to be but I saw plenty of people wearing jeans and T-shirt's. The rooftop bar has a beautiful view over the city. There's plenty of seating at high tables and chairs. The waitresses and bar staff were friendly and helpful but be prepared to drop some serious money here. A Malibu rum with cranberry juice set me back $11.50. This is a place for city prices. The views are stunning and the waitstaff was very efficient but the food was awful for the price. There were four of us. Two ordered the ham and gruyere sandwich, which came with a choice of salad or fries. Everything was cold. I got the fries which the server served with ketchup and ranch dressing. The dressing tasted like it came out if a bottle. The other members of our party had the chicken salad sandwich and the crab cake salad. We were all disappointed. I assume this restaurant caters to the out of town crowd that are willing to pay a premium for the view. I must admit that every employee of the restaurant was very hospitable. I came to Pavilion on my trip to Charleston for a quick bite to eat and to grab a drink. The rooftop bar has great views, and is very elegant. If you are not a guest at the hotel, then you will not be able to go into the pool or use the lounges, but there is plenty of seating around the pool area and bar area. The menu has plenty of options for food, especially if you are looking to share a few things for happy hour. The tuna tower was good I definitely recommend that. They also have waffles fries which are always the best. They have some interesting specialty drinks. Being as I am not from the south i wanted to try something new so I had the sweat tea martini, which had sweat tea vodka in it. Very good that was the highlight for me. This is place is expensive, my Tuna Tower, which is basically tuna tartar, was $24. Definitely worth it if you are looking to catch some views of the coast and grab some high end dishes. You can see the Navy Ships in the distance its pretty cool. read more

My husband and I went on a walking tour and afterwards decided to stop here for drinks. Upon entering, you have to go towards the back to the elevators in order to access the rooftop. The atmosphere is very nice. There is a pool with a full bar located on the left. It was a chilly night so they had the area covered in plexiglass and burners which was a nice touch. The rooftop overlooks downtonwn Chas so make sure that you find yourself a good location. As far as drinks go, they are overpriced. My husband just had a glass of sweet tea ($4) and I had a glass of wine ($14). Basically you are paying for the view. Our server wasn't great. We were there for an hour and we only saw her twice, once to take our order and the second time was to get our check. the host actually had to go get her for us. I doubt that we would go back here but it was nice to experience it at least once read more
