The good: The store is clean, there is ample parking. The bad: The prices are high. There is an Albertsons (company that owns Pavilions) a mile away. Fresh bakery items are at least 20% higher at Pavilions than the Albies. The selection in the produce area is meh (wanted some golden delicious apples...... sorry we don't have those, we have Fuji so I decided to get red delicious..... sorry we don't have those, we have Fuji. If you want Granny Smith or MacIntosh to back a pie...... sorry we have Fuji. The bananas were over ripe with lots of brown spots. If you want to get items half off with poor dates, this is your store, plenty of that. If you are buying items that are not marked down, check the exp dates. If they aren't expired, most likely they are very close. Save yourself some dough and go to Albies down the street. read more

The store has been upgraded after the renovation. Huge assortments and beautiful layout with an exceptional cheese and wine assortment. The individual pizzas are delicious and their sushi made fresh daily. Even though it a very convenient store for us, their prices are on average 30% more. The grand opening fever is over and I wish they'd lower to regular prices to remain in business. read more

It's right next door. Walking distance - two minutes. Driving distance - 2 seconds! I really like this place. It's not as big as the Albertson's in Irvine, but it's a Really Good size. Everything is clean, organized and it has big aisles. The have a deli with pretty good prices on their sandwich combos and they have a fountain drink machine, which I love! I prefer fountain drink's over bottles and cans!! Across the deli is a Starbucks, that opens when the store opens ... 6am! There are a few tables (maybe 5) inside the store, between the deli and the Starbucks where you can sit, eat and relax. Their prices are a little high for standard toiletries and a few food products, but they do come out with some really good sales every week. The employees are extremely nice and even if you only have 3 bags to carry to the car, they always offer to take them out for you. I shop here about 3 times a week, because even when I write out a list, I always forgot something. They're lines are always short, and their cashier's fast! I'm always in and out! read more

Still really like this place. It is Not* more expensive than other places as some mentioned. Definitely the same prices with a better ambiance. They do carry premium items other Pavillions/Vons/Ralphs do not carry, which are great! and these are more expensive but they also have the regular stuff . I grocery shop a lot so i would know. It is clean, organized, has everything I want, pleasant all around and super convenient parking. The plaza itself, Orchard Hills, is immaculate, relaxing and definitely private and inviting. Haggen is the new owner of this store because Safeway bought albertsons and to clear regulatory hurdles they decided to let Haggen a grocery chain from the northwest to buy several of their locations. The new store will be great once the transition is compete over the next year. If you like local organic gluten free and great produce then Haggen is the place for you! read more

This is my favorite grocery store to shop in! It is very clean, the staff is friendly and the prices are great. I also think their U-Save program is great, instead of sitting there clipping coupons [which I will NEVER do] for your favorite items, you can download their app and its on your club card. Their own food brand is really good too! Anyways-- I usually shop here when I'm like starving and eat the snacky foods that I purchased in the car, and I drive home with a smile on my face! & they have quite the selection of spirits too, which is always awesome! read more

I really missed this location when it was gone...but now when I found out it had been reopened for more than 5 years...I was shook! My favorite place to buy baked goods!!! Their sweet baked goods are still as good as I remember! But their regular baked goods....especially the plain bagels...aaaaaah!!! They're the best!!!! Pavilions is back and better than before! Lots of new items in store that were not in their last store in the same location. Prices are still on the high end so I took off one star for that. I didn't take a photo of the exotic fruit but they are available in small quantities including lychee, jackfruit and fresh gogi berries. New additions include: kombucha on tap, improved seafood selection, poke station, hot foods bar (including hot breakfast items). Sweetest thing in the store is the free fruit for their tiny "guests in training" because we all know a hungry kid is not a happy kid! Check out my photos! read more

There are grocery stores nearer to me but I like that this store which is located in a newish shopping center (including my other favorites Peets and Zovs). The store carries a variety of good quality produce/products and the checkout at the stores is always quick with friendly, efficient service. Prices are slightly higher but with the combination of the Vons member card , coupons, and their Just for U programs (tailored coupons based on your normal purchases) you can save a chunk of change. This location does have a Starbucks and I saw they also have an olive bar in the deli area. I hope the store doesn't close because its is usually empty (probably because the work on the housing developments in the surrounding area seem to have either slowed down or ended). read more

Be careful they have tons of expired and molded food sitting in the shelf. Their inventory process is not working properly. I bought some lettuces and bread here. when I came home and found out that both of them were expired more than 3 days. I saw some mold in my bread... In my next visit, I saw some guy who was working at the floor to check their inventory. He was throwing food to the floor and put it back to the shelf. Also he was kicking the food. I understand that it may happen in the back office. But please do not do that in front of the customers. I would not go back to do grocery shopping here again... read more

I had to deal with a racist cashier today. She charged me for 3 limes when I only had one. When I asked her to fix the charge, she gave me attitude and proceeded to charge me for bags I specifically DID NOT ask for. You know the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover"? This certainly applies to Pavilions. PROs: --Parking is super easy here. You never circle for a spot as there is hardly any traffic here. --Beautiful store. It's new and it shows. It's like walking into a high end grocery store (like Gelsons or Wegmans for those of you East Coast transplants) --Variety of goods. I have found items here that I don't see at other grocery stores, such as sunchokes. --Staff are pretty nice for the most part. --Wine selection is really good. CONs: --Not a huge produce selection and over watered produce. Maybe I don't want organic zucchini as my only choice. The placement of the fruits and veggies is confusing too. --MANY EXPIRED ITEMS! As R Y mentioned, you need to read the dates. I've found expired frozen items (hello, freezer burn) which we didn't think we would need to examine the dates on a new(ish) store. Does the staff even check dates when stocking? I've found expired tortillas (still an issue). I was there yesterday and the tortillas were good through 12/13. The eggs were expired before I bought them and could use them, with plenty of broken or cracked shells. These should have made their way to the clearance rack well before the customer finds the error. --I don't trust the sushi. I had the veggie spring rolls yesterday and it was DRY. How can veggies be dry? --Checkout staff aren't really professional and have too many side conversations with other employees instead of interacting with the consumer. I keep coming back to this store because it's not crowded, but you need to ask yourself WHY it's not crowded. Therefore, my visits will be less and less frequent and back to Ralph's and Trader Joe's I go. read more

I usually ok with this store but last Sunday we stopped by to get some pizzas and the deli guy said it will take 30 min as he has to start up the oven . It was already 11am what were you doing before ?the store does open at 6 am ish so it should have gotten started and warmed up . so we could get 3 pizzas, so decided to get some chicken wings and ordering was like brain surgery ... it was extremely difficult communicating that I just want some wings . On the menu they had flavored wings but the hot case only had 2 flavors which was disappointing. Got one piece of chicken tender which had too much batter on it . They used to have bbq and honey mustard sauces but I was told no more . Instead they sell bbq sauce singles for $1. Omg !! Chicken tender comes with no sauce !! I would not purchase their dry aged steak as it is aged in improper conditions. Upon tearing open the seal wrap, there was the stench of rotten beef. I agree dry aged beef has an earthy smell, but this was clearly a rotten smell. Feels bad to dock a star just for the one negative thing about this store, but shoppers should be aware. Having turned up my nose to the frozen turkey variety, I was most annoyed when the husband went to came home with a frozen Butterball. I left it defrosting in the secondary refrigerator. 48 hours later, he was the one to put the bird in the oven. I hate to admit this - it was delicious. Whether it's for a Thanksgiving feast or a weekly milk & produce run, Pavillions will always have a place in my heart. Once between the produce aisle and checkout stand with over a cart full of yogurt, TP, and a copy of the NY Times Sunday I had one of the more memorable conversation with a really cute guy I had met a few months earlier at the library. Okay, this review is for the Seafood and Meat section. I went this weekend because my sister decided last minute she wanted to have a BBQ. The guy behind the counter was really helpful and made sure that I had/found everything I might need. He even started joking with my kid for a sec, which was really cute, while I was debating between meat cuts. He pointed out which meats were fresher and was very pleasant. As to the rest of the store, overall its pretty decent. The layout is nice and the store is always clean and organized. The checkers are helpful and very courteous. read more

I go to this store because its convenient to my house but it's way overpriced and I'm always having to wait for someone in the deli area. I complained to the supervisor but same issue the next week I came in. I decided to leave and go to Albertsons where I got immediate service so will be shopping there from now on. I'm not sure why Pavillions reopened in this shopping center when it had closed before. My guess is it will close again and maybe Whole Foods which can justify the prices with better service will open in its place. read more

Will not be shopping here any more. Ran in to grab a couple things after my yoga class and forgot my "savings" card. Mind you, I shopped here before this location closed down and came back after its re-opening as a loyal customer. Everyone is right about the upscale niceness. They opened this after closing the Von's that was within walking distance of my house, with the idea that grand high end villages would soon be built in the foothills. No wonder they are nearly empty... only one so far since then! The result is a mix of quality and penny-pinching annoyance. When an item comes up on a Just4U promotion, they don't have any or run out due to "limited quantities". This weekend they ran out of loose russet potatoes!! A grocery store without potatoes?? Oh, I get it - they were on Just4U at 49 cents. Whenever the artisan filones are on Just4U they just don't bake them. On the good side, the people on staff are the best! I get a courteous greeting from everyone on checkout and a quick response if I ask someone to see if there are more potatoes in the back (there weren't). When I asked for my deli cheese shaved thin, he took extra care to put plastic sheets between the thin slices. The Safeway lines of deli foods are great no matter which store carries them. The turkey pot roast is unique and delicious. Likewise the St. Louis ribs. All they need for 4-5 stars is to improve how they deliver on their advertised special offers. read more

Generally this Pavilions is great. I was there on Thursday, June 25 at about 7:30am and the store manager kept pulling his mask down below his mouth and nose. He would keep it down only putting it back up occasionally. They have a sign out front saying that in order to enter the store you have to wear a mask, so I would think the store manager should lead by example given it is their own policy! read more

Ordering groceries to be delivered wasn't high on my husbands list. He is in the food business and was skeptical of the produce we might be receive. He was pleasantly surprised to see the beautiful produce in our order last night and was happy that sale prices were given to us on the appropriate items. Great deli. I go and get the smokestack sandwhich here almost every weekend. They got some different stuff than Ralphs and other supermarkets because it's more "upscale." Definately sign up for the club card, I got a bottle of liquor here and the price dropped seven bucks from 20 to 13 after I put in my phone number.
