I had a financial crisis and took some of my families jewelry to this pawn shop.. I had bought things ( jewelry) in pawn shops in Alaska( that is a whole nother story) but had never pawned anything so basically i didn't know what I was doing.. The lady-was extremely nice And eventually gave me everything I neeedef.. What i did not know at the time was that she-wrote it up allnup on one ticket, meaning i could pay off each peice i had to pay the full amount toget anything. The owner, another very nice elegant woman told me that when I tried to go pick something up so it's sat there forever till I got Karen to pick it up my sister anyway that was it and then I got it back and everything was fine. I had a expensive camera stolen out of my truck and it ended up at this pawn shop. The Kent PD were impossible to work with and had no interest in helping so the staff at the location got on the phone and spent over half a hour between the two of us to get this problem resolved. She was able to get someone to send something for a release and I was finally able to get on my way. Considering both sides the wait was unfortunate but their eagerness to help resolve this issue was above and beyond. read more

False advertisement They had listed Barefoot ergonomic mats 5 x 6 as Brand New on Craigslist. I went down to see them and they were very used some had cuts in the rubber. They used a Photo from the manufactures website and not a photo of the actual items claiming there price is half the price in cost. They claimed BRAND NEW. I wasted my time going there and the time to confront them of this issue. When I confronted them after the fact they claimed they are lightly used. Not true again! I think there is a law against this type of practice for Business advertisements in the State of Washington. read more

Pretty cheap compared to game lobster or amazon. Once I was there I noticed they had all the good games from my 90s-00s childhood. I think I'm gonna comeback every payday until I buy everything. Stopped by this shop today after seeing an ad on Craigslist for a WCC Toolbox priced at $99.99...we offered 1/2 of the asking price due to the condition and were shot down, which we fully expected . However, it was the way we were shot down that was extremely rude, unimpressive and completely unprofessional! The lady didn't even offer a counter that she would be willing to accept. Then, I had a cheap hand held casino card gaming machine priced at $9.99 that I offered $5 for...the same lady again said no that every game machine "always" sells for full price. We have been going to pawn shops for many years purchasing items on the high and low end and every one we go to barter back and forth...had we known you wanted retail prices for your stuff we would have never stopped by! read more

I live here in scenic hill and I will be sharing my horrible experience with all my neighbors, family and friends. This pawn shop is out to rip you off! Over priced items, listing used iPads more then new retail prices and staff unwilling to negotiate. I was treated like I didn't know what I was talking about and received condescending attitude from a women employee or manager....not sure who as no one asked any questions of me as the customer to determine what or where I had looked to validate what I was referring to. I just wanted to say "Thank You" to the staff that were working the day I went in. Very polite & they greeted me as I walked in. I had called a couple of days prior in regards to an item I saw on Craigslist, which they had placed on hold for me. (Speakers) I ended up being unable to come in when I said I would & plum forgot to call them to let them know. (I'm sorry again) Fast forward 2 days & I was finally able to make it to their store on my way to work. A nice lady behind the counter asked if they could help me find anything & I explained about the item I had called about. Low & behold, they still had the item behind the counter for me! I was not expecting that & while I'm sure that they just hadn't had time to put the item back on display yet, but even so, they still had the item I wanted with my name on it. I asked the nice lady behind the counter if I could test the item to make sure it worked & she said sure. We hooked everything up & then she connected it her phone. Worked perfect. (Good song you chose btw) I then asked about another item, an item I thought to be obscure & again, they surprised me by knowing exactly what I wanted. They went & retrieved the item almost instantly & said I was welcome to test it. Gotta wait for payday, but I will be back as I have wanted this item for MANY years, but it was always too expensive for my limited means. They have a good selection of different items on display & since I'm not an appraiser, I do not know if the other items are priced well. I DO know however, that the item I bought was in almost new condition (Still in original box & packaging) and a lot cheaper than had I bought it new. I am very satisfied & will tell everyone I know, of my experience while at Pawn Express. read more

I rode my bike here last summer. I had been here a few times prior. There is no real place to put a bike. No place to lock it etc. And they don't allow bikes inside unless you're selling one of course. I value my bike so I improvised and layed it lightly against the outside window in plain view so I could keep an eye on it. I walked in, looked around a bit then decided to leave. As I was grabbing up my bags from behind the counter (you're required to leave backpacks/bags behind the counter) she asked me why did I come here. How does one even answer that kind of question. I said very little and began leaving. Then she griped at me for having my bike rested against her window. I told her I rested it lightly. She said that windows expensive, if I broke it Id have to pay for it. Her tone was shitty. I was already having a bad day and I said 'so when are you going to get bike racks outside'. She didn't like that at all. As I left through the door I could hear her talking about the situation to customers. I began putting my seat post back into my bike. She came out after me and started griping more at me about having my bike against her window. Then she started griping about her bushes my bike wasnt hurting. I said to her I would not be coming back. And I haven't. They have nice tools. Everything else is overpriced, which is clear when you see the same items still there month after month. Anyway, I don't recommend this place. Well I wouldn't recommend any pawn shop. They are in the business of preying on desperate people. In every broken city these bottom feeders take root and reap some reward in imbalance. Don't be a sub bottom feeder. read more

The large woman with red hair was extremely rude when asked to negotiate with the price of an item and got very angry and shut down any conversation. if i could give less than 1 star i would. i've done lots of business with pawn express in the last 5 years or so. but they have absolutely atrocious costumer service. not only that, but nearly everything they sell is overpriced. higher than original retail! i've had a bit of a tiff with them since i liked their facebook page, and i noticed that alot of the stuff they were posting was WAY overpriced, such as video games/accessories powertools and most recently jewelry. they posted a listing on facebook for a tungsten carbide ring, today, and they were asking 60 dollars for it, and i found the exact same ring on amazon for 19 dollars. i've pawned 2 14k gold rings and got less than 60 dollars from them, if i didn't know better i would think they weren't even giving me fair pawn value. but after posting the link to the ring on amazon and telling them they have finally lost my business, and i will be telling all my friends and family to stay away from their, they blocked me from their page, so now not as a vendetta, but for the sake of the consumer im coming to yelp to give them an honest review, and i URGE you readers and your friends and family to choose another pawnshop. what these people are doing isnt right, there are many, MANY more respectable family owned pawnshops to go to. please choose one of them. read more

I'm going to make this short and sweet. I recently purchased an item and was given a time limit to make sure that the item functioned as I wanted. Circumstances prevailed and I went past the time limit. Not only that but I had misplaced (not lost) my receipt. I checked the function of the item purchased and was not happy. Maureen and Co. worked with me and I was made happy with hardly any effort on my part as well. They listened, heard me out, and spoke to me in a mild manner. By hearing me out they were able to deduce the problem, look for and find a solution, that made me happy. Once I explained myself, all I needed was patience. I've been to pawn shops, and the courtesy extended to me at Pawn Express was above and beyond the average shop. True, pawn shops do have a negatory image that more than likely derive from humiliating and demeaning circumstances and actions, here in the U.S.A. So, understandably, there seems to be a shortage of smiles. It seems to me to be the nature of the pawn shop by virtue of the negative image. This is the reason for 4 stars and not 5. But, Maureen and Co. (I feel) are doing something about that image by striving for excellent customer service on a daily basis, at all levels and with all customers. I appreciated the courtesy. Thank you Maureen and Co. Oh, by the way, I'm not your regular customer. I was in the retail customer service business for more than 30 years and won all excellent customer service contests repeatedly. Saw an item listed on Craigslist for $50. It had been posted for 24 days so clearly was not selling. Go into the store to find a price tag of $69.99. Also they were running a special this month for 20% off these type of items. One that has never shopped here would think it is marked/advertised for $50 online take 20% off of that & you get $40. The guy Kurt wanted to argue & not honor the price that it's posted at plus the 20% off. He said it was a sale price posted you don't get both. Fine but for a first time customer to come in & have such a horrible experience they let me walk right out the door & didn't even care to make a sell or have a customer have a good first experience so they would maybe come back again. Was also interested in something else, but comparing to brand new they are high priced & asking too much. This is not Lowe's or Home Depot you can't ask so much for "almost new" items. No returns or warranties here buddy. Would not recommend a place that doesn't want to run a fair business, take care of customers & asks too much for used goods & worst case lets the customer walk out unhappy without doing anything. read more
