I've bought a few "projects" knowing they needed fixed... and other things that were ready to go. Buying used stuff from a pawn shop is the same sort of deal as buying it at a garage sale, or a flea market. It's WAY cheaper, but you have to assume some risk. Buy stuff that you KNOW enough about to thoroughly check it over. I'm certain the staff are not super-experts on all the different types of merchandise. I've not needed to go there as a seller.

But I talked them into letting me go through a box of gold, white and yellow, that they were just going to get rid of. I ended up buying 2 little bands, very nice, just what I was looking for. And they only charged $10 a piece for them. I felt like I got a good deal and I have always wanted to go back, just never had the chance, or extra money since then.
