Just moved from San Diego so my husband and I were a little nervous bringing our 7 month old…read moregoldendoodle to a new groomer. We were actually recommended to Mel's Spaw through another groomer, and they could not say enough wonderful things about Melanie! The positive recommendation made me feel really at ease, given the other place was rated really high and so was Mel's Spaw. As soon as we called Melanie she picked up right away with the most kind, friendly and outgoing personality. As soon as we mentioned we had a goldendoodle she was even more excited to get her hands on our dog Kash as she has goldendoodles herself. We set an appointment for a few days later where we got to meet Mel in person and she was just as delightful as she was on the phone. Her salon was super clean, had an open layout which I loved, and such cute decor. Talking to her was easy, and she asked questions that no one asked us prior, like about our preferred cadence of Kash's maintenance grooming schedule, which weighs into how long or short we planned to cut his hair: Shorter in length = can go longer between grooming Longer in length = shorter between grooming We showed her a specific cut we liked, just a puppy cut and described other things like cutting shorter around his mouth and chin, keeping his tail fluffy.. and she executed BEYOND our expectations! When we picked up our pup he was: 1. Obsessed with Mel 2. Looked PHENOMENAL! So handsome!! We were soooo happy with the entire process and service. *ALSO It's been 3 days since our grooming and our dog still smells amazing as when we picked him up from his appointment!! So happy to have found our groomer here in NJ. Before we left we booked a bath appointment and our next full grooming appointments, we are looking forward to coming back!

I can't say enough positive things about D is for Doggy! Our dog, Ralphie, has been going to…read moredaycare here for over a year and it is his FAVORITE place ever. The staff is amazing and they treat every dog as if they were their own. Ralphie never wants to leave - it's like doggy Disneyland (they even decorate for Halloween, Christmas, etc.!). We've left Ralphie overnight here for both weekend trips and 2-week vacations, and every time has been a success. He has separation anxiety, so boarding at D is for Doggy is perfect because he's never left alone and never put in a crate. The staff is fantastic with following with specific food and medication instructions. Ralphie also gets groomed here and Jesus does an amazing job. He is so sweet and patient with dogs who hate getting groomed. I've referred many other dog owners to D is for Doggy, so I felt it was high time I leave a review. Run your dog here ASAP!

I picked up my all white dog after grooming with a large greyish black streak down his side. When I…read moreasked the staff what this was they said they thought it was a birthmark and took him to the back to remove it. Several minutes later the groomer came out and said they couldn't get the stain off of him. She informed me they were doing construction in the back and he was laying on the floor under it. The conversation got worse and worse from there. She told me "it was likely something from the air conditioner and she didn't know what it was but it definitely wasn't dangerous." She then casually said if they couldn't get it off I wouldn't have to pay for the grooming.... as if he was a sweater that got stained at the dry cleaner. They ended up giving him two more baths and getting most of it off with Dawn dish soap... which is what they use to take oil spills off of sea creatures. My dog was unsupervised, laying in construction chemicals and came out from his grooming stained. After all of that, they still charged me and barely apologized. I was a regular customer for several years and this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Needless to say we have never been back.

Willa (the sheltie) was fluffy and looked great, and had a perfect undercoat brushing that avoided lots of shedding when she got home. Arlo, the doodle, needed a pretty close cut, but it still looked awesome. Arlo and Willa will be back soon.

THEY CUT A TINY CHUNK OF MY DOGS EAR OFF!…read more I got my dog home and noticed a tiny notch in his ear. I reached out immediately to them, and they let me know that they would investigate and get back to me. I was called back the same day to be told that what I saw on his ear was an old scab that fell off, that they should have let me know when they found it, and apologized that they didn't do that and offered me a free wash for the next time I came in. Also frustrated because I specifically said "i like to keep the little wisp of hair on his ears" basically don't touch the ears. I could literally see where the clippers left stroke marks right at the position of the injury, but I had no proof that it was a new wound until the next day. It happened to be raining pretty heavily, I walked my dog just for a quick pee and come back upstairs, and I noticed blood on the top of his head on the side of his face and realize that his ear is bleeding because the water re-opened the fresh wound they did. Of course I would not be OK with my dog getting hurt in anyway, but I think this situation would've been less infuriating if they took accountability for hurting my dog and not even mentioning it to me when I picked him up, and offering me a free bath as compensation, which I thought was strange if they had done nothing wrong. This place is already ridiculously expensive. They raised their prices and for the $125 that I spent I am extremely upset. I would also like to note: if you go through the photos you'll see quite a few other dogs get nicked or badly cut as well. I wish I looked more closely before. Sad because I've been going there for over a year and a half, I trusted them.

Finding a trustworthy grooming place for your first pup - during a pandemic- can become stressful…read more Every time I found a place- there was a review (or not enough reviews) on Yelp/ Google that made me change my mind. I took my chances with You Lucky Dog and they were able to accommodate Benji (6 month old Cockapoo) for a Full Spa Package. I received a text message the day before that they had to switch the time from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. The place shares space with a Vet company. They are cage free. Gina greeted my sister & I when we dropped Benji off. She made me feel comfortable leaving him. We briefly reviewed what he was getting done and we were told to expect to get him in about 2.5 hrs. They charged my sister by phone to limit contact. She was able to add tip as well. My sister was a bit surprised that the total with tip was $93 as the website has the full package starting at $65.00. It is pricier than the other places we had in mind. Overall (4.5 stars), we were happy with Benji's look and cleanliness (just look at the picture!). We have plans on checking one other place before deciding which will be Benji's go to groomer.
