Been taking my dog Lucky there about once a week for over two years. Even boarded him on occasions. Can't say anything bad at all about this place. When he is at the day care I watch from time to time to see what he is doing, and it is always fun to watch. I have never seen any mistreatment at all when watching. If a dog has an accident, they are right there with a mop and towels to clean it up. The groomers do an excellent job of grooming him. On his spa days he always comes home smelling nice and fur is soft. read more

We absolutely love Pawz! Our dog goes once a week and has stayed overnight many times. She loves all of the people that work there and eagerly sits when they prep her to go back with the dogs as she kisses them. The staff is amazing. The communication is very open. Our dog tends to jump the gate at go home time so they asked if she could be put in a crate during that time. I thought that was very respectful. On a overnight stay her ear was bit during play. Of course it was not serious. They were more worried than I was and immediately looked it over. We have used their grooming services as well and price is great as well as the quality. I love that they have cameras and there is always someone with them even at night. The owner clearly is a wonderful woman with a huge heart and knows how to find a great staff. I highly recommend this place for daycare, boarding and grooming. Your dog will be happy and most definitely tired! read more

We had a HORRIBLE experience at this place and I would not trust them with my dogs ever again. I should have known from the dirty appearance on the inside and out but for a dog place we overlooked it. We boarded our two dogs with them several times. Once while watching the cameras I witnessed a worker carrying a dog across the room by it's collar- it's front paws were off the ground. It was terrible- I immediately called and talked with someone about what I witnessed and it was explained that dog was not being hurt and the worker was just assisting in moving the dog. Another time we left our dogs with this place our dog was seriously injured which they blamed on our other dog. His toe nail was ripped off requiring emergency surgery. Our dogs have never come close to injuring one another at home. Since being boarded at this place our dog has been skidish and scared of many items and noises (brooms, kids toys). He has never displayed this behavior in the past. I'm not sure what happens when they turn off the cameras if they are doing what I witnessed while the cameras are on. I would NEVER trust this place. We have since boarded our dogs with another local place and have not had any issues and I feel much better when leaving and picking up my dogs. read more

I can't say enough about Cindy and her company she is AMAZING! I live in California and when my sister-in-law was taken by ambulance to the hospital I called Cindy whom I had never met. She went over within an hour picked up my sister-in-laws dog, called the vet to get her medication and the special food she needed. She had her bathed and groomed within a couple of hours and sent me pictures of her. Hailey is very old and needed medical attention during her stay, Cindy drove her to the vet for doctor visits, which is not an easy task because she weighs over 100 pounds and needs to be lifted into a car. If that wasn't enough she went to the hospital to check on my sister-in-law and let her know her dog was okay. She has one of the kindest hearts I have ever met, what an angel! Absolutely horrible. From the outside, to the inside and to the customer service that you get. We went in for a trial play, dog was seriously injured and we were never notified that something could have happened while she was there. Her play report was great! She is friendly, plays well, always wanted to play, no change in behavior. Awesome day, right? Nope. Our dog couldn't even pick up her back end to walk outside or hold herself up. I called to talk and see what happened. Ended up in conversation with the owner, who was friendly but tried to over talk me the whole time and let me know she's just sore. She called the employees that were with our dog that day and they came back with a story totally different from what my husband and I were told at pick up. They knew something was off and that she had a change in attitude and play but decided to not inform us of that. Since then, we have tried to get in touch with the owner, because she did say she wanted to know if our dog was okay but we have left countless messages with no responses. I understand accidents happen, dogs play and run too hard sometimes but we were mislead and lied to and if something happens to your dog when they're in someone else's care, the owners of the dog should be notified immediately or at the time of pick up. Also, if you know that you're understaffed and admit to that, then maybe you shouldn't take more dogs in that day. I like this place and my dogs luv going here, we drop our dogs off for the day just to play with other dogs and it's priced reasonable only 4 stars because the place itself is rundown (smells a lot when u walk in) the 1st time we had r dogs here for 4 days and both dogs smelled really bad when we picked them up, sometimes the cameras dnt work ( we like to watch the our dogs play) as long as u know u have to give yur dogs a bath when they come home then this place grows on u, people are very nice and easy to deal with and if u plan a vaca just give them enough notice an its all good... hope this helps someone read more

My energetic rocket + basenji + manchester terrier mix loves it here, and so do I. If you have a dog that bounds around with endless energy for hours on end, this is a great outlet! Not only can your loved one can get supervised play time (split by size of dog), but you also get sent home with a 'report card' to update you of his new friends and favorite activities. Pawz at Play is superior to many doggy daycares since they screen their daycare pals by offering a few free hours where your dog can test them out and for them to see if your dog is enjoying it there. This is great, since it screens out any overly aggressive or anxious dogs that may be dangerous. While their check in hours may seem annoying to deal with (there are no half days, and you must drop them off by a certain time in the morning), they have excellent rationale behind it: the dogs bond and are comfortable with each other by mid day, and you wouldn't want to disrupt it by bringing in a new dog. I love that they have a nap/snack time they implement mid day so that dogs can rest and have their own space for a little bit. You can drop your dog off with a packed lunch/snack, and the empty bag is sent home with you so you know it wasn't forgotten. The only thing I would comment on is some of the staff are 'grouchy' at the end of the day. Granted, I can understand that if you're dealing with a hundred dogs that are like wild children running around... My dog is always bounding toward the door when we arrive at Pawz at Play, and can't wait to get away from me to play, but he's always ready to snuggle and is calm when I pick him up at his crazy party times with his new friends. A friend recently recommended Pawz at Play to me prior to my leaving on a long vacation. Prior to this, finding a suitable place to leave our dog was always a dilemma. We did not want to leave her somewhere where she would be cooped up in a kennel the whole time. After our (and our dogs) experience with Pawz at Play, we will never worry about what to do with the dog when we are gone again. Pawz at Play does not kennel your dog with rare walks. Your dog is allowed the freedom to play with other dogs (and staff) both inside and outside. We even got a report card at the end that detailed our dogs daily mood and activities. The price is also extremely reasonable. I was amazed to see how little it cost for our dog to stay there for 10 days. My family was able to enjoy our vacation a lot more knowing that our dog was enjoying herself as well. Pawz at Play will always be the place we take her when we are away. read more

I just can't say enough good things about Pawz! We take our little chug, Tassel, to them. We were so worried on his first visit that he'd not get along with other dogs, or he'd nip at one of the administrators, but it's been such a wonderful experience!! Now that he knows where we're going (aka not the vet) he loves the ride over there, and just can't wait. The staff is always so welcoming, and understanding when he "Mohawks up" at first while I'm still there. But we can watch him playing with the other dogs on the web cams, and he's clearly enjoying the heck out of himself. The best part? When we pick him up after a day of daycare or a weekend boarding, he is positively exhausted. It is the most wonderful, adorable, and satisfying dog napping I've ever witnessed. I greatly appreciate that I was allowed to take a tour of the facilities where my fur-kid would be spending his play days and overnight boardings. The staff is meticulous in reviewing instructions for mealtimes and any other special needs during the dogs' stay. I would also recommend the grooming services! Very reasonable prices and very happy with the results! I could not stop smelling and petting my dog! When I used to have a dog, 2 years ago, I would always use Pawz at Play, http://www.pawzatplay.com/, in OP. They have a large play room with somebody watching over them at all times. They split the dogs into groups based on size and temperament. Also, if you miss your dog, they have several live web cams to watch them at play. They will even give you a report card of sorts at the end of the stay on how your dog was behaving. At ~$25 a night, they were the most cost effective place I ever found for my dachshund. They were a lifesaver on a number of weekends out of town. Like most kennels, they have vaccination requirements. But if your pooch has special needs, I'm sure they will accommodate. My dog had special dietary restrictions for which they were always very accommodating. I can't say enough good things about this place. read more

I'm very picky about how my dogs are cared for, and Pawz passed my test with flying colors. A lot of places that offer dog boarding are run by dog lovers, which is great, but not all dog lovers truly understand dog behavior. Pawz understands dog behavior and their business is focused on accurately reading the behavior and attitudes of their dog clients. Dogs are only allowed to be dropped off and picked up during certain hours so as not to throw a wrench in pack behavior. The dogs also take a nap during the day where they are all separated and given space to breathe. I love this because even the most social butterflies will go crazy or get overly aroused from play if they don't get a break to wind down. All dogs are undergo an hour long evaluation without the owner present before being accepted. Pawz is very careful about screening for aggression or fearfulness in dogs. Dogs with special care instructions are welcome, I wrote down a short list of care instructions for my English Bulldog who needs daily wrinkle care 2-3 times a day and has special feeding instructions, and they followed it to a T and called me when they had questions. I really appreciated that. My bulldog came home from a 2-night stay tired and happy. In my previous experiences with boarders my dog always came home smelling foul and extremely thirsty, but that was NOT the case at Pawz. They offered to bathe him but I opted to bathe him myself, fully prepared for him to stink, but when I picked him up he smelled fine! I still gave him a bath the next day, but it wasn't urgent because he was in good shape. You could tell they really took care of him. Plus, your dog gets a sweet report card at the end! We love Pawz at Play.. Q has been going for almost 9 years and his sister M has been going for almost 4. They love it and are always well cared for. They also get their baths and nails trimmed after boarding so they are all cleaned for their return home. Apparently this place does not want new business which is a disappointment with all the great reviews. They also are not friendly to new clients that are pet owners who work during the day. I tried to schedule a grooming appointment but can't pick up immediately due to..hmmm...I work and they don't allow the dog to "stay" since he hasn't done the silly TWO HOUR requirement of a try out period which I also can't do because....I work for a living. Don't waste your time trying to make it work, if they would have been up from I could have scheduled a groom somewhere else instead I now can't get my dog groomed since it's so late.i was aware it was kind of last minute wanting a groom appointment tomorrow, but seriously a golden retriever who is very friendly and can't go in because it's a "Friday". Won't be taking my business here ever and will steer anybody who asks away as well. read more

I've been to Pawz at Play numerous times with my two dogs. The staff has always treated me and my pets with great service. I've walked by employees in passing in the parking lot and entering the building and they know my animals names by heart which shows that my dogs are not just another source of income for them but are their extended family. I'm saddened that Sally doesn't feel the same way but in looking at her reviews and the fact that 2 were done on the exact same day for two competitors makes me believe that neither posts can be very trustworthy. I have not been to Woof's and as such, I will not make any assumptions or insults towards them. However, I do know how much my pets and I love Pawz At Play. read more

My wife and I were fortunate enough to drive past this spot shortly after we moved to Overland Park. Our border collie mix absolutely loves this place. He is always happy and tired when I come to pick him up from daycare. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They are also great at reporting how my dog is doing (unusual behavior, scrapes or cuts, signs of illness, etc.). This goes a long way as a previous daycare left me in the dark an entire day while they starved him and separated him from the group for an upset stomach. It means a lot to know that the staff at Pawz at Play are both paying attention and care how my dog is doing. As an added bonus, I can checkin on him via their webcams throughout the day. I was looking for half day fun daycare for my dog. Went to visit (without my dog), to gather info and ask questions. I asked to see the rooms and outdoor play yard. The answer was no and I was only allowed to see an empty room with many empty crates and was directed to a couple of pictures taped to a door if I wanted to see more. I did not meet or see any caregivers in action and zero dogs. This gave me no confidence and my dog will not be attending for these reasons alone. We love pawz! Our lab goes about twice a week and they are always the first choice for her to stay when we leave for a weekend. They are always so excited to see her and she is so excited when she realizes where we are going. We have been taking her since she was about 6-8 months old and we have never had a problem. I boarded my dog here for 4 nights. They did a trial visit with him for a few hours first. I chose Pawz at Play because they were $10/night cheaper than the other place I was considering, and they don't force you to get the kennel cough shot every 6 months, just once a year, even though it's "recommended" every 6 months. (The shot thing is a racket, unnecessary, and dangerous for pets, but I digress.) I was majorly turned off by the smell of urine every time you walk in. This would seem easy to correct, by removing the carpeting in the lobby. Why you would have carpet in a pet boarding facility, is beyond me. Other than that, everything is wonderful. The staff is very good with animals, they asked lots of questions on personality preferences, when to give treats, how he likes his food, etc. They keep track of your pet's belongings, even returning the plastic bags his food came in. They give you a report card on how your pet did with every stay, which actually reflected his personality, so it didn't seem made up. I think it's great that a staffer stays the night at the facility with the dogs being boarded. There is also a link to a live feed for the main playroom, but I never logged on at the right time to check it out. They have 3 rooms: small, medium and large dog. With an abused rescue pup, I am sensitive to how he does somewhere, and he seemed to be content with his experience, even though he was really tired. I think the barking kept him awake, but not much can be done about that. In summary, I will be bringing him back for boarding and doggy daycare. read more

We went to many places and decided to take our puppy Daisy here. The facility is not the Ritz, however the service and kindness of the staff is exceptional. My wife was crying when we left because Daisy was very observant being in a new environment. Then about 20 minutes later we were text a video showing our puppy playing. I had my dog boarded with them for one night. When I arrived to pick him up the next afternoon, was told the overnight shift worker believed he had a seizure early in the morning but could offer little to no details about it. There is NO other doggie daycare in the KC Metro area that compares to Pawz at Play!! I am confident and comfortable with leaving my dogs there for a day of fun or an overnight stay when need be. The dogs and cat enjoy the "spa" treatments offered at Pawz. Okay it's "grooming" but they don't know that. They are treated with care and come home looking like a million bucks!!! We boarded our 11 month old puppy at pawz at play while we were on vacation for 6 nights. We were nervous about leaving him for such a long time but heard great things. They even have the dogs go for a free 2 hour trial to make sure they have no aggressive dogs. We thought that was great. When we picked him up yesterday we noticed him limping as soon as he came up to us but accounted his strange walk to excitement. When we got home we noticed he was putting no weight on his paw. He was unable to walk more than 15 feet. He had a red oozing spot between his toes. It was VERY obvious he was in a lot of pain. He slept for 19 hours. I called pawz at play this morning very politely just to check if there was something that happened to him and they forgot to tell us. They said no one noticed anything wrong with him and needed no medical care while he was there. I decided to take him to the vet to have it checked. They said he had a very badly infected hot spot. While I know the staff had no control over him getting a hot spot, (he was probably licking his paws because of separation anxiety) the fact that no one noticed an 11 month old puppy limping around is worrisome to me. If someone did notice and did not think it was enough of a problem to call us is also concerning. I'm sure pawz at play is a great place for short stays. We will not be taking our dog back. read more
