When my plane landed My phone rang and it was my driver stating he was there waiting for me! Even with rush hour traffic on a Friday night he had me to my hotel within an hour. My return trip they arrived early to pick me up and I was at the airport within 30 minutes! The fast courteous service is the best I have ever experienced. I just used Payless for the first time. Needed a large van, since I was taking the entire clan to LAX, including two infants. Payless showed up 15 minutes early at my house in a very clean 15 passenger van. The tiny lady driver immediately hoisted luggage for 10 into the van - some of the suitcases looked bigger than she. Very careful driver, making everyone comfortable. Upon our return, they were tracking our flight, which was early. Showed up at the baggage claim are right at the curb and got us back home quickly and safely. Can't ask for anything more, except maybe that they publicize themselves better. They specialize in large groups. All their vehicles are large vans. No limos or dinky minivans. If you have more than 4 people, this seems like the way to go. Highly recommended. read more

I used Payless Airport Shuttle on a Holiday Weekend in 2011 with an early LAX departure and it went off without a hitch. Prompt pick up at 5am with a clean well maintained van. Driver was very confident and made us feel comfortable. Got us there on time to the exact drop off location and we did NOT have to ride with other travelers either on the way to the airport or when we were picked up on time. No endless circling of the terminal to get another passenger or two or three. Best price around and believe me I checked. The shuttle was on time, and they gave me a call 5 minutes early so I could be out on the curb and ready. It was a smooth ride. The driver was on time and friendly. We had two pairs of skis and luggage, but it was not a problem for the driver. The pick up at LAX was easy, they were on standby, and I called when we landed. I used PayLess shuttle service to pick me up at LAX January 23,2011 and take me to San Pedro cruise terminal. I called there driver once I picked up my luggage. The driver Kendra advised me she would be there in 10 minutes. To my surprise she was there in around 5 minutes. She was polite,professional, and courteous. The shuttle van was new and very clean. She took us to San Pedro great service.On my return from the cruise January 30,2011 I called Kendra again when I walked outside from the cruise terminal she was waiting at curbside for my wife an I. I am scheduled for a trip next October, but since we have a large group, I am getting a head start on quotes for transportation to/from the airport (just so we have an idea of what to expect). I came across Payless, which has a coupon code listed on their website for $10 to/from Long Beach and LAX airport to the cruise terminal for groups of 8+. Perfect! I requested a quote, and was told $10/person + 20% gratuity each way from LGB airport but $15/person + 20% gratuity for LAX. I asked if they would honor the coupon listed on their website (which has no expiration date) but the rep responded that my trip is not until next year and the coupon is expired so they will be removing it as of today. They had no problem providing me the link to book my trip a year in advance, but there was a problem honoring the coupon listed on their site. Because of this situation, I'd rather continue my search than risk running into another discrepancy with them and have them refuse to honor their word. read more

We took this shuttle to and from our Long Beach cruise and had a great experience. They were in constant communication via text and picked us up from the airport within five minutes of us getting our bags. They were waiting for us once we left the cruise ship. They brought two car seats for our little ones. The price was much less than for the shuttle offered by Carnival. read more

I would not recommend using this shuttle service. At the time of booking we were quoted $49. I specifically asked the gal on the phone if this was a flat rate and she said yes it was, we would not be charged anymore that $49. In route from LGB to our hotel we were told that there was going to be an extra $5 added on because of "airport parking". When I told the driver what we were quoted she said we could call the reservation number and talk with them about it. (Might I add that she was the one that quoted the $49 and when you call both numbers "she the driver" is the only person you talk to. I thought... no big deal its only $5. Then at the completion of our trip on our way back to LGB, we inquired about an in-and-out at the airport and she said there was one near the airport that she could drive us to, but it would be an extra $2. Again, no big deal. We were happy to pay the extra $2. Then when she dropped us off there was an extra $12 on top of the $49. The $49 and $2 charge was expected, but when I asked her about the $10 first she said it was airport parking. She dropped us off at baggage therefore did not park, then she got flustered and said it was for making a stop. When I reminded her that she again said it would be an extra $2 not $12 she said she added $10 because she had to wait. Really?? What was she expecting?? BTW the burger place wasnt even busy. We were pretty much the only customers there and were in and out within 10 minutes. When we were picked up the first time from the airport she ran my credit card payment using a credit card machine. The second time when we were dropped off to the airport she did not use the machine for my credit card payment instead she wrote the information on a hand written reciept. She even asked for my zip code and wrote the whole credit card number along with the exp date and security code located on the back of the card on the piece of paper. Things just didnt add up.... Why use the machine the first time, but not the next? We were in the same van, had the same driver who is also the answering service and the person who takes the reservation. Why did she need my zip code this time and not the last time when she actually used the machine? I understand that inorder to mannually enter a credit card payment you do need to input the whole credit card number, exp date and possibly the security code. With the driver adding on the hidden charges at the end hoping that we would not notice it both times and using the credit card machine then not using the machine and asking for extra information and writing every bit of that information down, this is much too great of a risk to become a victim of a credit card scam. Everything compiled from pick up to drop off just seemed way too odd, so I immediately called the bank, cancelled my card, etc.... Drastic?? Maybe... and it was an inconvienence but in this day and age.... I would rather be safe than sorry. read more

Truthfully, I was not as impressed with this service as other Yelp users - it was OK, but I felt like we spent too much time waiting for a prearranged shuttle service. I called when our plane landed as instructed and then called again when we had picked up our bags. We were told we would be picked up in 10 minutes but we stood on the curb for a good 20. The driver said she had to "circle" several times before she could find a place to cut-in to the curb. Fine - I understand airport traffic. But then we used them again when we got off our cruise boat and followed the instructions we were given to a tee and again ended up waiting 25 min. even though we were literally the first ones off the boat. I prearranged all of our transportation as we were on a pretty tight schedule and I wanted to avoid the waiting, but that didn't seem to be what happened. Just know that pick-up by Payless means multiple calls and some waiting. On the plus side, the drivers were both pleasant and the vans clean. read more

I was very disappointed with this service. I booked a round trip from LAX to the Long Beach Cruise terminal for a group of people at work. I booked it several months in advance, so when I called to confirm (I tried 3x's) I was sent directly to a voice mail that said "The Google subscriber you are trying to reach is unavailable." I left a message requesting a call back, and received a text msg. They did end up picking us up and it all worked out. Except for the fact that I pre booked the apt with a company credit card. It is stated on the confirmation, that they will not charge the card until the pick up, which seems fair. However, the driver would not accept the card on file and made us pay again with a different card. No one on the trip brought along the card that was originally used, or a company card. I think the driver was perfectly friendly, and we got to our destination, but there was a major break down in communication, and I am not happy that they would not charge the card that we had on file specifically to pay for the round trip shuttle. read more

When my friends and I returned from a cruise, our ride couldn't pick us up for two hours from the time we called. We called Payless (no reservations) they picked us up within 30 minutes and we were at our final destination before the other van service called to confirm our pick up time. We used Payless to take our family from LGB to Hotel Maya before a cruise. Booking online with a credit card was easy and most important to us, we were able to request car seats. Upon arriving in LGB, I had a text message on my phone waiting for me with instructions on how to proceed. After collecting our bags, we waited no more than five minutes for the shuttle. Our driver quickly loaded our bags and car seats were already installed (and properly too). We paid cash at the end of our trip and would absolutely use these guys again if in the area. I think most of the problems mentioned by previous reviewers is representative of their own inability to properly handle their travel arrangements rather than any issues Payless may or may not have. read more

We also requested 2 car seats and 2 booster seats. They showed up both times on-time with clean vans and car seats as promised. They were careful drivers and did not scare me. I live in Huntington Beach and have used this service a couple of times. Every time was excellent!! The driver was always on-time, even when he had to be at my house at 4:30 am!! I felt like the staff did a very good job, and was professional each time I called to schedule a pick up. They helped me with my bags both in and out of the van, and always got me to my destination early. Each time the van was clean and comfortable, and the driver was very pleasant, not too chatty, but polite and professional. I have to say, this has got to be a tough business to be in because of all of the variables, traffic, weather, road construction, the way people drive, etc. I feel like Payless did a great job getting me where I needed to be on-time, even getting to the airport on-time during rush hour. read more

We traveled to the LA area to depart for a girls weekend cruise. We needed round trip transportation from LAX to the Long Beach Cruise terminal. I received a quote for 8 passengers and it was the lowest quote comparing it to at least 2 other companies. About one week before our trip, 2 girls cancelled. I called the company and the lady was very nice. She gave me a low quote for 6 passengers (and which was still cheaper than all the other companies I looked into). She told me she would resend an email confirmation. Later in the evening, I realized I never received the email so I called again. I spoke to the same lady and even though I realized the email was in my junk mail, she was very polite to me. Our flight was late and even before we got to the airport, I received a text stating they noticed the late arrival. Many informative texts were exchanged and they were very understanding. When we arrived to LAX approximately 2 hours late, I texted that we were ready for pickup. We waited about 10 minutes. It was very easy to notice the driver as the text described what we should be looking for. Kim, our driver, loaded all of our heavy suitcases by herself. She was very polite and stopped at the grocery store for us prior to arriving at the cruise terminal. She explained exactly where our pick up would be on the way back. Our return trip went smooth and text communication was easy for pick up. The van was clean although not impeccable and it was definitely an older van. We used Payless for a cruise transfer roundtrip between a residence and the cruise terminal. We received a text in the morning confirming the pick up time at the residence. The driver got lost and was a little late but we ended up getting to the cruise terminal on time since we scheduled the shuttle early in the day. I was able to communicate with Payless without any issues. My hubby had to assist with loading the bags. The drive and drop off went well. For pick up I got a text the morning we got into the port and we stayed in touch the whole time. The driver was waiting for us and we were loaded quickly which was great!
