Henry is not a honest business person. He agreed to do 3 repairs. One for a dryer, another for an electric range and the last for a dishwasher. After the repairs to the dryer it makes a noise. After Henry ordered the electric range parts. I never heard back from him. I emailed him, called him on his multiple phone numbers and no reply. Listen to the 1 star reviews - stay away. Now I'm in the process of going through with the Better Business Bureau. Henry shouldn't be in business. This took place in August 2023. If I could he would receive zero stars. read more

Never once have I been compelled to write a review, but, our experience with this business needs to be shared. We called Saturday June 30th for an inoperative LG washer. They promptly responded on the same day. After a review, they said the repair will be done Monday July 2nd. On Monday July 2nd, they advised the part wouldn't come until July 3rd. Today, July 3rd, the repairman "fixed" the washer. Upon starting it with him, water was pouring out of the front of the machine. Now, other parts need to be sourced and the repair won't be completed until July 5th at the earliest. Laundry I need to do before a long vacation now cannot be done. If the vendor was forthright and gave accurate timeframes, my clothing could've been brought to a laundromat. But, we valued their words and now regret doing so. In addition, only 1 repairmen was available each time. This meant removing the dryer on top of the washer with the repairman, placing it back when the washer was "fixed" and then removing it again because it wasn't fixed. I definitely cannot recommended this business to anyone and won't do so. This all could've been avoided with accurate information and a thorough initial assessment. read more

Easy fridge problem fixed quickly by professional. This should be the whole review but lets go deeper. My fridgidaire refrigerator was not cooling even though the freezer was working. I contacted Payless and spoke with Henry. He set up an appointment for the next day, showed up when he scheduled the appointment and began the work. After examining the parts, he figured out the problem, left to get the appropriate part then returned in a couple of hours to complete the repair. Fair price, quick repair, courteous repairman. Doesn't that merit at least 4 stars? Here's how he earned the last star. He thawed my freezer and cleaned up the mess. Also, only took payment after the complete job was done and fridge was working properly. I would use him again. read more

My GE french door refrigerator stopped cooling in the fresh food area while the freezer kept chugging along fine. Rather than perform a DIY job (requiring endless internet searching, shopping for parts, etc.), I simply wanted to get up and running again ASAP so I decided to call this local repair shop. I was paid a next-day visit and was quickly diagnosed with an issue with the evaporator fan. Unfortunately the part was not readily available so I waited 5 days for the part to arrive and for another house call to happen. In what seemed like a pretty lengthy gap between visits, enough internet research on my part did seem to point to a faulty fan. On the second visit, shelves and trays were disassembled. I happened to also have a frozen and clogged drain and it was quickly corrected with some hot water, a coat hanger, and some elbow grease. I found myself helping out quite a lot, grabbing towels, cleaning compartments, disposing of ice. No big deal as I was learning about the disassembly as things were going along. After the repair was completed I had cut another check for the remainder of the balance. That night I waited patiently for the refrigerator to cool with no luck. By the time morning came around, it was still running at a balmy 68 degrees. Filled with disappointment, I had no choice but to cancel the check with my bank and speak to Henry about what had happened. I had little confidence in my refrigerator being repaired if I had continued the partnership. I decided that given the amount of research I had put in, I would either fix it myself or ultimately pay for a very expensive GE tech to make a house call. In hindsight, there were many problems with the way my refrigerator was tended to. For one, it would have been ideal for the main control board to be tested to ensure that the fan was 100% to blame. The control board is easily accessed in the rear panel after removing two screws. However on the initial service visit, a few moments of turning the lights off and on inside the fridge seemed to be enough of a diagnosis. More thorough troubleshooting would have really put me at ease. Second, even after the fan was replaced, there was little to no effort to test the fan properly. In that time, I had not heard or felt the fan come on at all in the fresh food area. It was just kind of... "adios, let me know how things turn out." Most importantly and most critically: A quick search for the evaporator fan on the GE website shows that it has an updated part, along with a software update and service bulletin that goes along with it. This is entirely different from the part that was provided to me. Once I purchased this part online (which arrived in just 2 days as opposed to 5), I had gone through the same disassembly that Henry went through, replaced the fan, updated the software, and things are now running at the exact temperature of 37 degrees. It's great to be able to eat fresh, non-frozen food again! In the end I did learn a bit about refrigerator disassembly and how to clear a drain, so there was some value there. However when it comes to appliances with motherboards, dual evaporators, software updates, and touch screens, there was very little confidence shown in the task at hand. To be frank, there was a general air of bewilderment that I observed which didn't instill much reassurance on my part. If you're not much of a DIYer and don't have the time to invest to do your research on parts, assembly diagrams, and troubleshooting, by all means I recommend you give Payless a call if you have an older appliance in the 8+ year range. However I cannot recommend the same for anything that you might have in your home with the latest bells and whistles. read more

I called on 4/13, to have my fridge repaired. My first initial phone call there was no answer, so I left a message. Henry called me back in twenty minutes. We scheduled an appointment for the same day, I was absolutely thrilled because I have a large family and needed a working fridge. He arrived on schedule and told me I needed a part and the part would take 7-10 days and I would have to pay for the part up front and then he would return when it came in and install it. I was hesitant at first because that was a long time to go without a fridge, but I agreed. I paid him $152.00 for the part, he wanted cash but I paid him with a debit card, I felt confident with him because of his reviews. I waited to 4/21 t o call him about the part- no answer. Called him three times that day, left a message- no answer. I sent him a text- no answer. 4/22 called twice, left a message- no answer. 4/ 23 after still not receiving a message and going almost two weeks without my fridge, I called my bank to dispute the 152.00 charge. My bank reversed the charges right away. I'm so thankful that I didn't give him cash, because I would be out that money. Just be careful with him, if you choose to use him, because you may not be able to get him to return if you give him money in advance. read more

First let me say I usually do not write reviews, good or bad. This time I HAVE TO! Once AGAIN amazing service. The woman I spoke to on the phone was VERY friendly & helpful. Henry was here within the hour of my first phone call ON A SATURDAY afternoon. (Today). He came in, took the bottom of my dishwasher apart, drained it {and cleaned the floor afterward}! Problem? The drain at the bottom was clogged with debris. Small stuff, but enough to make the dishwasher not work. Now I have to say while it's not an old dishwasher, if Henry would have told me I needed a new pump, I would have believed him. But he didn't say that!!! He unclogged the drain and put everything back together for such a minimal price I still cannot believe it as I type this review. THANK GOD I kept his number. He was here once before to repair my dryer & EVERYTHING I said above were the same circumstances the first time, except I had called him at 6:00pm on a weeknight and he was at my home by 7:30pm that same evening. Not to mention he pointed out that at some point previously our dryer had a small fire inside it that we never even knew about. I cannot speak to the company but I had a run in with one of their drivers I had to share. I was driving to work down a very, very busy Graham Avenue in Brooklyn when this black Nissan Pathfinder starts riding my ass and driving erratically. It's a two way street with constant traffic in both directions. A few blocks of this and the guy suddenly swerves out into oncoming traffic across double solid lines and nearly causes a head on collision to pass me (I was already going the speed limit). It was terrifying. I was so upset I called the police and the number in the back of the vehicle. All I can say is that I wouldn't want someone that reckless, stupid, and dangerous doing any sort of repairs for me. read more

JR does seem polite and professional, and even though I had a bad experience with paying them cash upfront, I would use them again for regular repairs. Also, I did change my order from a used stove to a new stove, which may have resulted in my not getting either a stove or my money back in a timely manner. This is a local small business that should be supported. Saturday before Easter around noon our washing machine quit. Being a Kenmore and we had a contract with Sears for our snow thrower we called them. For $129 someone could come an look as long as we signed a yearlong contract at $50 a month for all appliances. We called another local place who said they would call back in 5 minutes. 40 minutes later we called Payless who said they would be over in 15-30 minute. We didn't talk price so we were unsure. Henry showed up in 20 minutes and was very courteous. He asked about his boots worrying about our floors which was no problem. He diagnosed the problem in 5 seconds - had the unit opened in 5 minutes and was done with the job in about half an hour. I have never left a review before but after my experience with Henry at Payless I wanted others to know just how good this repair service is. My LG dryer was making awful noises. I called on a Monday around 8 and my call was returned within the hour. Henry was at my door before 10. He checked the dryer, cleaned an amazing amount of lint out of it and replaced 2 worn rollers. Very unreliable! Henry came to fix my dishwasher, paid him upfront for a part & he replaced it, assumed it would work & it did but only for a day or two, then was having same issues. Took a month of phone calls to get him to come back, finally did & he said it was another part that we again paid upfront for. Replaced it but did not work. He left saying he had to go to another appointment but promised he would think over why it wasn't working & come back. Been trying to reach him for weeks now & still no response. We spent over $300 & dishwasher still broken. He should have given us our money back & apologized that this was out of his league but he chose to completely ignore our calls & texts & keep our money. If you need appliance repair, please DO NOT GO WITH THEM. I called them to service a washing machine because they were close by (Foolishly, I did not go with my usual, very reputable repair company because they are further out east and wouldn't be able to come for a couple of hours). The person I spoke to, the same one who came to my home, was named Henry. I was made aware on the phone that cost of the service call was $55...ok that's fair. After inspecting my washer for 2-3 minutes, he told me that he saw an oil leak and it needed a new transmission...fair enough. This is when things went totally downhill. Henry said I'd only had to pay $50 for the service call and that he'd call me the following day to tell me the price for the repair (including parts) and that he'd deduct the $50 service charge. No call for the next 2 days from Henry, so I call him at 11:30 on the 3rd day and he answers sounding like he just woke up, and very uninterested. He said he'd call me by the end of the day and no call again, and no follow up after several attempts. Basically he made an easy $50. BTW, had someone else look at my machine, and there was no oil leak. I've never had a worse experience with any service company...but came away with a valuable learning experience. Henry, if business was that bad, I would have given you the $50 instead of being deceived for it. Maybe if they provided half way decent service, business would be better. I could have cancelled payment, but didn't. I wish you use it for something good. All the best to you anyway. read more
