We had a water tank leak, called them in the morning and Joey O showed up in the afternoon. He was professional, friendly, and very pleasant to talk to. Next morning he came and installed a new tankless water heater for us. Working among the water mitigation team, he did a very clean and professional job that minimized our inconveniences. Few days after the installation, we have a low hot water pressure problem. Joey showed up quickly and fixed our issue, unrelated to the water heater. Again, very professional and kind. Office staff was friendly too whenever we called. We had a great experience with Joey and the company! Highly recommend.

Seamless Upgrade to Tankless Thanks to Payless I reached out to Payless Water Heater and Plumbing Inc. because I was having issues with the pressure valve on my 14-year-old tank water heater. Daniel K. came out to assess the situation and explained what was going on--he told me I was basically on borrowed time with my current unit. He walked me through the pros and cons of replacing it with another tank water heater versus upgrading to a tankless system. Once I decided to go tankless, Daniel also helped me complete the financing application, guiding me through every step of the process. Later that same day, Carlos R. came out to install the new tankless water heater. Both Daniel and Carlos were professional, helpful, and efficient. I'm really happy with the upgrade and the entire experience. I would absolutely recommend Payless to anyone in need of water heater service!

New tankless water system install. Water heater went down and got same day service when I called in. Joey did an excellent job and appreciate the thorough service and explanation of everything. Will definitely be going to them in the future. High value I recommend.

We had an alert of water in our water heater pan. Knowing that the 19 year old heater was probably on it last legs we decided to get proactive and order a new one. The reviews given to Payless, made our decision. We were very surprised when they said they could do it that afternoon. Danny showed up right on time. He wrestled the old unit out, and had the new one in place, in about two hours. Clean up was done, an explanation of what had been done, completed, and we had a new water heater.

My water heater stopped working yesterday and I called Payless water heater, they scheduled someone to come and check it. Evan B came exactly on the time they told me his coming which is really a good. I appreciated the promptness. He did the best he could diagnose it and gave me estimate options on repairs and replacement of the water heater. He explained everything to me and answered all the questions I had. He also worked with me on the best possible discount that he can give me on the replacement estimate. I opted for the replacement and Evan arranged for my water heater to be replace the next day. He was very helpful explaining the different kinds of packages. Today, the new water heater was installed by Adan. He came early morning and did a great job installing the heater. The area was left clean and no mess. New water heater was working like a gem. He also explained to me how to turn it on and off on the occasion that I might need to do it. Answered all my questions and made sure everything was working good before leaving. Both Evan and Adan were great. Knowledgeable and patient with all the questions I have. Excellent customer service. I will for sure recommend them and call them for the yearly service of my new water heater.

Finally showed up 2 hours late. The work was done properly and I appreciate that. The 30 gal heater cost $1500. Just replaced our heater in our home in Florida too and the heater plus labor was $500. What's wrong with this picture? read more

I want to say that I was very impressed by the prompt service provided by this company. Water heater starts leaking on Friday evening. We called our Home Warranty Service and they connected us with Payless. Payless tried really hard to get out that same night but simply didn't have anyone available at that time and they are located at least 45 miles from us. However, I received a call from them at 10pm stating that they'd be out first thing in the morning. By 10am, James Y. from Payless had come out and fixed not only the leak, but replaced another worn part that we didn't even realize needed replacing. We will definitely use this company in the future should we ever need water heater service again. read more

I am SO glad I chose Payless for my new water heater 6 years ago. Service was excellent then and now. Suddenly I had not hot water and tried to get the auto pilot light to start with no luck. Found my receipt, and the unit was under warranty. I just had over $500 of replacement parts installed for only a minimum service fee of $85! Juan C. is delightful and knows water heaters. Highly recommend this company! read more

On 7-15-16 Saturday early morning the water heater broke down, calling the insurance provider was my option. The company, Payless water heaters & plumbing was dispatched the service techs name was Mike V, he arrived as scheduled, reviewed the problem, my water heater was a special order. The warehouse was closed and it would not be until Monday before it could be delivered. Monday late morning the tech Wade, arrived with the new heater, Wade reviewed the process and briefed me on what he was going to do. It was a couple of hours and some minor tweaking, installed it, we forget how important HOT water is when you have none. Mike V and Wade were professional, excellent manors, and very courteous. Thank you to the office staff of Payless for doing the best they could under difficult circumstances. read more

So impressed!! We woke up this morning with a leaking water heater. We are so happy we found Payless. They came out right away (within 2 hours) just as promised. James and Larry did an amazing job with both prices and installation. I had shopped around before calling them, so I knew exactly what I was getting. They explained everything clearly and were very professional. I would HIGHLY recommend them for anyone needing to replace a water heater. read more

I called Payless regarding a busted hose on the top of my 50 gal. water heater. After charging me $150 to replace the 2 hoses the young man could not get the heater to work. He did a few tests and said that the fan assembly on my AO Smith heater was bad and it would cost $750. plus labor to fix. But He could install a new water heater of another make for $1000. I wanted to research this further and told him that I would let him know. The next day after the unit had time to dry everything started working except the flame would not come on. When I called Payless they would not answer any questions other than to say it would cost another $85. to come out and trouble shoot the problem, and if parts were needed I would have to pay for a 3rd trip plus labor. In desperation I called up AO Smith customer service, who had me check a couple of things and surmised that a pressure valve next to the fan had gone bad. A $40. part that I installed myself and the water heater works fine. I highly recommend AO Smith. AS for Payless Water Heaters and Plumbing, they may be competent but beware that their interest may not be your best interest read more

John was professional and courteous, and he gave me a price arrangement that suited my needs for a new furnace. He scheduled the work for the following day as soon as I made my decision to go with Payless, and he kept in contact with me throughout the job, and after the work was done, to make sure that everything was to my satisfaction. The workers were also very professional and did an excellent job! So far, the unit is functioning perfectly, and I am very happy with my choice to use Payless. read more

I just finished having my water heater replaced. The installer (Wade) was very professional and helpful in his explanation of what had to be replaced. My problem is that i had been given a quote for the tank and installment plus parts. I understand that they can not tell me what parts i will need until they come out,However i would not expect the parts needed to be about the same price of the water heater. It would seem to me that you folks know what parts that you are required to replace, (as i was told,) and could give your clients some ideal of what that cost might be so that we can make a proper decision, Instead we were hit with a $400.00 parts addition, I could not compare my quotes apple to apple , read more

I live in Glendale, and I still had the original water heater that came with the Condo that I bought new 26 years ago. It was still working, but I also had a clothes washer I bought 13 years ago, which needed repair. The appliance repair guy came out, and finally said the washer was beyond repair, I needed a new one, and by the way, I should probably look at getting a new water heater at this time because they are both located in the same closet upstairs, and it would be simpler to replace the water heater when the washer and dryer combo unit were out of the closet. So that meant I was looking a considerable cost, and I was going to have to coordinate some things, because different outfits were going to be involved in supplying the water heater and the washer/dryer, That usually means trouble. I had a good outfit for the washer/dryer, and I needed to get trustworthy people to do the water heater. Payless had a pretty convincing internet site, so I arranged to have one of their guys come out on a Sunday. Two guys actually came out, and gave me advice. I mentioned that I was going to have to have the washer/dryer removed, and then they could do the water heater. It's a tight space inside the unit in and around this closet where all this is located. Mike, the lead guy, told me they could move the washer/dryer into the hallway, and work in the closet to get the job done. He had brought a young gentleman with him that he was training, who was a polite and helpful fellow. They recommended a tank-less unit, to create more room in the closet to put in a bigger washer/dryer, and they told me they could do the job right then on Sunday, and they had the unit on the truck. Now, a tank-less unit replacing a standard water heater is not just a small job, but they were claiming it could be done in 4-5 hours. They don't do that job for free either. It's an investment, but if I was going to go for that, I felt comfortable with a specialist company doing it. They ended up getting the whole thing completed in about 5 hours, and I watched them do almost the entire job. Mike had to come back and finish up by putting a special "Y" in the drain to accommodate both the pressure release pipe for the new tank-less unit, and the drain hose for the washer, which he did the following Tuesday. I'm a fanatic about how things get done in my house, and they gave me confidence that everything would turn out fine, which it has. The washer will be here in a couple days, and I'm waiting to see how the drain works with the washer installed, but I'm sure it'll be fine, and Payless is a company that gives me a good feeling about their work. When you're having stuff done in your house, I always want to go with people who have experience, lots of experience. I don't believe in this mumbo-jumbo about people working "outside of their comfort zone". When people are working in my house, I want them to be working right in the center of their comfort zone. That's why I called Payless in the first place. I don't need things to go wrong in my house. read more

We called Payless Water Heaters & Air Conditioning to replace a 17 year old water heater that could not be repaired. The company was quick to send a representative out on a Sunday. An estimate was made and a fair price agreed on, followed by an appointment for the next day. The representative arrived within the time frame that was set, and did an exceptional job installing the new water heater. Our only issue was with the original estimate. It was much higher than the price we finally agreed on. The representative and his manager were good about arriving at a fair price based on a comparison example that we had presented, but if we had not been prepared, we may have paid more than we did. All in all, this is a professional, knowledgeable, and reliable company whose management and representatives uphold these standards. read more

I am extremely happy with my services and I want others to know about my experience before going with another company. I called and spoke to a nice guy named Angus. I explained to him that my water heater went out this morning and I had no idea what the problem could be. He quickly gave me some ideas on why my pilot wasn't staying on and what he could do to help. I had additional questions in which we needed a manager's assistance. Thus, the call was transferred to Josh. Josh not only helped me out with regards to providing me even more insight but was willing to do a lot more than other people from different companies to help resolve this issue today (MOTHER'S DAY). A lot of other people wanted to schedule an appointment on Monday but this company was able to help me today. Moreover, he helped schedule an appointment and told me that Joey (Service Adviser) would stop by around 2 to 4. Joey was at my house just before 2. Honestly, I really liked Joey. He was nice, professional, and above all else extremely knowledgeable. When he left my house, I couldn't help but feel like I would definitely call Payless Water Heaters again. Please note, I am extremely bad with names and the fact that I remembered everyone's names without looking at my notes or Joey's business card, speaks volume. I stand behind what I have always stood behind, "You pay for what you get"! It's worth to pay a little bit more and know that the job was done correctly and with quality. Highly, Highly, Recommend. read more

I contracted with Payless to have a tankless water heater installed in my apartment building after they quoted a price and assured me that I would get a rebate from the gas company and a tax credit. After the work is completed they are supposed to send me a form for the gas company rebate which I never received. I also found out when doing my taxes that the tax credit is only for residential not commercial properties. I am sure that they must have known this but no mention was made in our discussions. I am now in the process of sueing them in small claims court. I also found out later that the shutoff valve they installed on the gas line is a water shutoff valve not made for gas and it leaks. They also messed up my vent as it leaks now when it rains. Good job huh? read more

This business is disorganized and has terrible customer service. We had a problem with our tankless water heater and they were scheduled to come out on a Thursday. Called at last minute of 3 - 6pm window and cancelled, showing up Friday. Had to order a part that took 10 days to receive from a company that is in our county! Turns out the part was never shipped so they had to pick it up and came 11 days later. Still didn't fix the problem and they had to pick up another part scheduled me for the next day. Didn't show up on time (1pm - 5pm window), so I called at 5:15 and they tried to cancel on me again and I said NO. I have now been without hot water for 2 FULL WEEKS because of these idiots. So they came and finally fixed it. It is not the fault of the service technicians. They were cordial, clean and seemed to know their stuff. But the scheduler of appointments is horrible and whoever was responsible for ordering our part. Midway through the ordeal I spoke to a manager who said he would call me back with results and never did. I had to follow up with him after the long holiday weekend. Terrible, just terrible. STAY AWAY from this business if you actually want your hot water fixed in a resonable amount of time. read more

When I first contacted payless water heater ,over the phone I was told there was a flat rate of 899$ plus any mandatory code upgrades that would add to the cost of installation.Thats fine and understandable. BEWARE FOLKS!! When the techs came out to the house and gave a final installation price it was close to 1600$. I said no way that was way too much, and more then other quotes I got. The tech then called someone at the office to who I spoke to.After refusing to reveal the past quotes, we went back and forth for a while, then settled on a more reasonable price of 1198$. The office personal also mentioned there would be 85$ fee for coming out to the house if I choose to shop a little more. Other companies gave free quotes. It seemed to have a feel of the ol' bait & switch scam to it. True enough code upgrades were added. From what I can see, a water trap pan,and a flex hose. I went on Lowes website. A water trap pan is 19.98$. The flex hose is 26.98$.Now these are retail prices. I believe there may be a gas valve too that was installed. How did they get from 899$ to over 1500$? But my point is a flat rate quote from 899$ to over 1500$ is crazy to me. Especially if they were able to come right down to 1198$ on the spot. I hate the games, just give me your best price up front. They did quick professional job,but again I feel for the above reasons this company does practice dishonest quote tactics which no one likes. I would not deal with this company again. Simply because I would chose to deal with a company more straight forward, plus many other companies give free quotes. Anyways, had a water heater mishap, and payless water heater came out the very next day. My new water heater was installed within 1 hour. Danny k knows his way around the fine art of water heater installations, and is also skilled in the fine art of customer service too. read more

Woke up Saturday morning and had water seeping from my 13 year old water heater. Called and made an appointment for later that afternoon. The appointment was made for between 12 and 2, and that I would receive a phone call from the technician 1/2 hour before he confirmed his arrival time. I received a phone call from the main office at around 12 advising that the technician was on a particularly difficult install, and would it be convenient for me to wait until 3. I said this was okay, as I understand how technicians schedules can be sometimes difficult as unforeseen problems sometimes arise. Around 3, I took a call from the technician advising he'd arrive within 1/2 hour, and he actually arrived within 10 minutes. I shut down the water heater and drained the tank myself as this was something I could do and would assist the technician time-wise. The Water Heater install technician Matt Hammer arrived and was up-beat, professional, articulate, courteous, informative, and intelligent. I didn't particularly notice if he "smelled good" or not, as I don't make it a habit of going up and sniffing service technicians, and I don't think this quality has any bearing on the quality of service a man performs. He didn't want to park his truck on my concrete pad even though I offered as it would make his numerous trips from van to the job site closer - he said he didn't want to risk having his van drip oil on my concrete. That is just one example of the conscientious gentleman he is. He had everything he needed on his truck, and knew what he was doing. He installed the last, American made, contractor-grade tank, and updated the install with all new plumbing, flex tubes, insulation, etc., bringing it all up to code. Matt answered all of my questions coherently and courteously. Even had a sense of humor. I can't say enough. Rarely do I ever have home service that went so smoothly that I felt relieved and confident about the serviceman. Matt is a superb asset to the company and I can't say enough. I hope the company recognizes this and rewards employee Matt Hammer appropriately. read more

Unfortunately my water heater of 16 years went out on us. I looked around and found Payless. I called them and they sounded like the place to get my water heater. They gave me a quote and when they came out the price almost doubled. I told the tech that came out I couldn't fork out that kind of money for a water heater. We eventually agreed on a price that I thought was still on the expensive side but it was a Saturday afternoon and COLD. The technician, Chris was very helpful and this review has nothing to do with him as did a great job. My water heater started making a loud rumbling sound that literally vibrated my house this past Sunday evening. I called their office to try to get an answer only to be told the office was closed and i reached their answering service. I asked for a callback and never received one. The next morning I called back to complain about not receiving a call back and explained the problem I was having. They said they would get someone out to take a look at it by noon. Shortly before noon I get a phone call saying they will not be able to make it until the next day. I expressed my concern for the safety of my family and myself. The dispatcher was rude and had no regard for my concerns. I asked to speak to their manager and was in contact with Scott who was extremely rude and also had no regards for my concerns. I have never dealt with anyone as rude as him. They are nice over the phone. Once you call them out for warranty repairs that goes out the window. My brother told me to give him feedback about them prior to the install. Guess what kind of feedback I gave him. I will never recommend them to anyone one. SCOTT is rude and needs some lessons on treating customers. BUYERS BEWARE. read more

Holidays seem to be an issue since we moved into this house, and here came Thanksgiving, 2015, and wouldn't you know it! Water heater starts leaking badly!&*@/ $\&! Have home owners insurance, but simply didn't feel comfortable with who they sent out. Hit the Internet and came across Payless and previous reviews, BBB members, etc. Gave them a call. Was able to get someone out the next day. Knowing that the old configuration probably did not meet code, figured this would be a somewhat lengthy job. Nonetheless, the tech, Mike V., finished up and all was well with the new heater!! All the new piping looks neat and professionally done. My wife, and I, really appreciated the promptness and professionalism conveyed by "Mike"! AND TO NOTE: I should have mentioned to him that we have a "pocket" door in the wall that is c/t the back of the heater compartment, but failed to do so. When we went to slide the door shut, it was jammed up for some reason. When I tried to look between the door and frame, was almost sure it was due to the "earthquake" straps he installed. Payless called shortly after this to see how things went and if we were satisfied. Informed them of the door issue, they had Mike come out the next Monday, he was able to move the strap attach bolts, and that did in fact rectify the problem!! Like I say, I should have informed him of the pocket door! Again, appreciate the promptness of him getting back out to check it out and take care of it! Strongly suggest them if you need this type of work done!! read more

We had our first experience with Payless yesterday, 08/17/16. It was a five star experience for me from the time Micha (sorry if I am misspelling) picked up the phone. Our air has been out more times than I can count since April. We are tenants and the landlord folks have a home warranty. There have been four separate companies here (including Payless) and ten + visits . We have had to stay in a hotel, and so much more over all of this. So it's a very stressful situation. I called Payless myself to have them finally fix our air. To make a long story short, Micha was so amazing to work with over the phone, had Danny scheduled to come here the very same day (106 degrees) and was very kind and professional. When Danny arrived things continued to be just as professional and friendly as they were on the phone. Danny not only did a full diagnostics on the whole system, but he was very honest about what the prognosis was for the unit as well as what exactly needed to be fixed to get us up and running again. He treated us (the tenants) with the utmost respect and courtesy. Our landlord came over and Danny handled that situation with complete ease as well. There was a lot of waiting around, because of the landlord trying to get things covered through the home warranty. Danny never once behaved as if he was in a hurry, had somewhere better to be, or anything like that. I am happy to say our air is running better than EVER! Yay! We will absolutely refer anyone we know to not only Payless but to Danny specifically if possible. Top notch guy. One thing I will say, Payless, get your guys some personalized business cards. We would love to hand them out to people we know. Thank you again to everyone involved. You guys took a seriously high stress situation and made it tolerable and easy to get taken care of. read more

I feel I had to post this review because of the lack of customer service given by Scott! I had a thermostat replaced on our water heater and when the technician left I kept smelling gas so I called back to let them know. They told me that the technician that had serviced our home was on another job but would try to contact him to see if he could come back. He did return, did a test on all of the fittings which showed no results. I left to work and I got a call from my daughters saying that there was a strong smell of gas! I called back Payless and let them know and I was told that there would be a service fee!!!! What!!! They asked if I would like to talk to the Manager! I said yes and I was put on hold, he was busy and would call me back. Scott called back and basically told me again that I would be charged if the leak was unrelated! I let him know there was not a gas smell prior to them arriving and I definitely thought it was coming from the repair. At this point my children were at risk and I never heard any concern in his demeanor, he was condescending! I asked who his boss was and he told me he was the boss so I asked who the owner was? He said " Oh your going to call the owner right!!" Well Scott your technician returned later that night and YES there was a leak!!! Why it didn't show up earlier while he tested? I don't know. I work for a company that thrives on customer service and you failed! I have to say your technician was a pleasure Scott but the way you treated me on the phone was enough to make me write my very first yelp review. read more

I had an urgent need for repair on a water heater and after calling out one plumber who charged over $100 to just give me 'an idea' of what it 'might' be, I called Payless. Their customer service over the phone was excellent. The person I spoke to was professional, polite, no hard selling of anything, and felt 'honest'. The tech they sent out was Scotty R. If you have a Bradford White water heater, this guy knows the product. He replaced the necessary parts and did it efficiently. He didn't seem to mind me watching (some contractors really hate being eyeballed) I love to watch and learn when work of any kind is being done. He answered all of my questions and did a great job. I would highly recommend him and the co if you have issues, particularly with this brand of water heater. Payless stocks all of the needed parts for these products. Over the phone some people suggested I get a new water heater. They are OFF my list for good. read more

Referred to Payless by my home warranty company, Fidelity. I had a GE 50 gallon tank gas water heater. It flooded my garage so clearly needed to be replaced. Given a four-hour window - plumber came during 4th hour. Martin gave me my options and did a good job on the upsell to a tankless. I also needed a new regulator and a couple of angle stops installed, as well as some gas line and vent work. The Noritz NR981-SV-NG tankless unit is available through Walmart.com for $1,305.68 + $30 delivery. Fidelity is paying $983. I still had to pay out-of-pocket $1906, which brings my total to $2,889. This nets out to $1553.32 for install, parts, and regulator/angle stops install/parts. A little steep, which explains my rating. Better price would have improved my review. Great service. The guys (2) were very nice, worked straight through until the job was done, and explained everything thoroughly. The whole job took about 6 hours. They cleaned up ok and made sure that I was satisfied with the work. I'd definitely recommend Payless. Do your research and know your prices, though. read more

They provided Shitty service. First, they did not call us before arriving at our rental as promised. Then this was a total BAIT AND SWITCH. Our Angie's list coupon was for a complete removal and installation of a 40 gallon water heater for $841. They came back with a price of $1,980!!!!!! When I asked why, they told me because of the upgrade to a larger water heater than we had ordered, the finance charges (we were paying with a Angie's list prepaid $841 coupon), and to bring it to code. They said I needed to call their office. Their office was very rude and condescending. I told them that we did not need a 50 gallon water heater and that we did not need financing. They dropped their price to $1,492, which was still way over their quoted price. They made up some bullshit excuses for some parts (that could be purchased at home depot for about $150) and then stated that their cost did not include an $80 city permit. Because they had us over a barrel because this was a rental and we were not on site and needed the service, we proceeded under duress and against our better judgment. read more

got up this morning, wanting to start my Saturday with a shower, so i be fresh for whatever came my way during the day. to my surprise, NO HOT WATER. shower cancelled, to cold to take a cold shower. had to go work, all smelly. had my wife call landlord to get things fixed and/or replaced. Landlord called Payless Water Heater & Plumbing, Inc. my wife was told that someone will be there between 9 - 11. they showed up on time & ready to get the job done. Unfortunately landlord was not available for approval, worker had to go to the next job. when the company got approval from landlord, worker came back & got the job done... The name of the worker we were fortunate to have is WADE. both times Wade came to our place, he was very professional, ready & wanting to get the job done. when he left, he did NOT leave a mess in my place & in the area where the company van was parked. my wife & girls was at home when Wade came both times & left. they shared with me how this guy performed & how focused he was to do his job accurately.... my wife & I would recommend Payless Water Heater & Plumbing, Inc for a heater and/or plumbing issue. But most of all we recommend you ask for WADE. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Bryan O.
After a college football injury cut my athletic career short, I shifted gears and started working as a plumber. I began in commercial plumbing and later spent several years with Sears, installing everything from water heaters and dishwashers to soft water systems. In 2004, my brother and I founded this business with one clear focus: water heaters. We realized that most plumbing companies treated water heaters as an afterthought--but to us, they were the main event. With our combined experience and dedication, we built a company that understands hot water inside and out.

50 gal water heater leaking and beyond what I wanted to spend to repair it so I was checking for a "tankless water heater using natural gas". My friend told me about Noritz brand (made in Japan) so I decided to check cost and installation. Payless WH&P called me back immediately after my initial inquiry, which was mid morning on Super Bowl Sunday and offered a free estimate visit same day (terrible last play call Seattle, yikes, should have gave the football to Lynch) thinking perhaps they can come on Monday if things work out. They sent Matthew from their Valencia location, courteous and friendly, same day, gave me window between 2pm to 4pm, Matt showed up 1:55pm, nice! He quoted me a fair price, including using the $200 discount coupon, got a Noritz NR981 OD NG, which is a 9.81 GPM (gallons per minute) unit. Average showering using 4 to 5 GPM, having 2 showers and a faucet or laundry washer running at the same time, originally interested EZTR40 or NR661 was not enough, as Matt had suggested a higher GPM model. I decided on the NR981. Matt ran about 25' of 3/4" dedicated copper gas line under the house (mostly 1/2" in residents and most of these Tankless uses 3/4" which is a part of the drawback for many consumers not wanting to foot the extra bill for running a new line of 3/4"), he removed the old 50 gal beast, enclosure and attachments, relocated the outlet and put a bubble cover on it to protect it. He started around 2pm and finished around 7pm. I felt bad about him working during Super Bowl but for all I know, he may be into Ping Pong and couldn't care less about Football or Katy Perry, although he hinted, he'll do the work regardless if there is a meteor headed our way of the size of a Super Bowl Arena. At that point, I didn't care if the cost and installation well exceeded what I was ready to pay for hot water and felt ease about having Matt and their company do the job after reaching a price. Ultimately, according to the "savings" chart, I will recoup the extra money I spent compared to another 50' gal tank water heater, in about 2 years and tankless unit will last me at least 15 to 25 years or more according to the consensus. I don't know if the Gas Company will give me a rebate since they change their minds about rebates every 6 months or so (I guess Monopoly on gas will let them do what ever they want, when ever they want, how ever they want and all we can say is "thank you sir, may I have another") but I'll have to look into it, usually $150/heater. Noritz Tankless Water Heater, NR981 OD-NG, 12 year warranty and 2 year warranty on installation. First time using it this morning, hot water took a bit longer than the previous 50 gal tank water heater to reach the 2nd floor bathroom with hot water, about 30 seconds more, located about 100 feet away, but it worked as it should and I hope to never deal with the water heater issue again, as this unit appears to be maintenance free, no flushing needed, no constant heating, no relief valve leak, no noise. If I had a green conscious, tech savvy, cost efficient seeking friend, he would say to me "welcome to the modern age" although this technology is probably older than me but is finally getting around. I still can't get my damn Culligan water softener to work properly but I don't have to worry about something so basic as HOT WATER which I realized was so crucial until I had trouble with the water heater. I think I made the right choice and a good technician representing a good brand and a good company seemed purely by luck in this age of sour faced, monotoned, hairy armed plumbers I've had to deal with in the past, who walked into our house without a second of thought to wear shoe covering, which Matt did put on when he came inside our house to check the work. Thank you Matt, I really do appreciate the extremely fast and efficient work you've done and extra big thanks for coming back today to adjust and fix the shower valve which improved the hot water pull for the downstairs shower and the neat cleaning of the old water heater area and sealing the old vent with aluminum tape. Anyone wondering about this company, if Matt is a typical example of their specialists, including their support staff that called me promptly to warn me about approximate arrival of their technician each time, I recommend them highly and I will keep them in my top list of Water Heaters & Plumbing work in the future. read more

WARNING (terrible husband) FUNNY ENDING: Total upgrade at a more than fair price just in time for Christmas. Fortunately for us, they were able to show up same day [later afternoon/early evening] as my morning call. **This was KEY because my wife was gone to work for the evening and I was hoping to make this a surprise for Christmas!! Because of the info on their homepage, and the thorough walk/talk-through of possibilities and prices on that morning's call (i think with Brian?) I had a good idea what to expect before the technician (Dan/Danny) arrived. Danny was able to diagnose the problem immediately, and also let me know where it was best to spend my money. The problem was our situation COULD be repaired, but the tank was so old and the previous work was obviously unpermitted. We were facing additional costs from tank failure in the near future (1month-couple years no telling) and that if we could afford to, it was best to replace the whole system now in one swoop. Of course he showed up with a fully loaded van and the ability to do a total swap, BUT did MORE than just a swap. He upgraded the work to "permitted quality/regulation" work at no xtra charge, and even drilled through our wall providing an outdoor drain in case of emergency, which our current situation did not have. Not only were we getting a better deal (which I'm ALL about) than expected, he applied a $50 discount and let me know he could take another $50 off if I paid in cash. I'm now looking at a savings of AT LEAST a couple hundred bucks or more (off an already unbeatable price) on the total job that was actually done. This gift couldn't come at a better time as we have 4kids and I was afraid this would completely tap me out before Christmas. We've had to relight the old unit over and over and over again for the past year and a half. My wife and i have had to take showers in the kid's bathrooms sometimes days -sometimes weeks at a time, till we could get the hot water to comeback on in the tank to our room (which heats the water for the back of the house.) HERES THE HILARIOUS PART! This unit is in a closet space at the rearest section of the home. No one goes in there but me to light the damn thing. So, now I'm playing games letting her THINK it's sometimes-working/not working! Lol. So, she's still doing the same routine running to the kid's shower for the next week! Lol! I plan on putting putting a wrapped printed/signed contract in her stocking and a big bow on the new unit when she'll inevitably go back to see it. I also plan on having "girly bath stuff" as presents this year so she can take a nice, long, hot, jet-bath [which she hasn't been able to run for the past year.] Our laundry is also on this tank and we can now run warm water when doing clothes. Until now we'd save the warm water to shower before eventually having to use the kids rooms again. Everything should go great so long as she doesn't notice the date of the actual install!!! Lol. Dan was awesome and made my Christmas gift to the wife/family come true. He worked completely outside the home using side gate and rear entry door directly to the water heater. He wore mask the entire time, and we did all paperless transactions. Seemed like a real stand up guy too. Kinda homie you wanna kick it with over a bbq or sports game. I left the kids (all 4of them) at home with out any fear, to run to the bank to grab the cash while he stayed and worked. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. Dan, if you read this I'm the surfboard-repair / surf-instructor guy. Hit me up dude. Free lesson on me after the New Year! MAHALO! read more

This great review must be posted to let the SCV know what a great business Payless Water Heaters is. The other day while I was leaving for work, I hear a loud banging and explosion, my son and I race to the garage to find water gushing out from the bottom of our water heater beginning to flood our garage. While I freak out for a minute, I managed to read the phone number on the large emergency sticker on the water heater and asked my son to call it not knowing it was Payless Water Heaters while I raced to unplug the exercise equipment. He spoke to a nice dispatch rep who instructed him to turn the knob at the top of the heater to shut off the water, which worked. She said she would be sending a technician to take a look at what happened in an hour which wasn't too bad. After 15 minutes I received another call from them saying the technician would be on his way soon which was even better. My husband was on his way home from work and asked the dispatch rep to tell the technician to wait another 30 minutes so I could go on to work and he could meet him at the house. They arranged this even though the tech was waiting out front for a bit when my husband arrived. The tech, Larry was very nice and thorough in checking the water heater and determined the heater needed to be replaced so he installed a new tank. We braced ourselves for the cost of the repair because we are currently still recovering from my being unemployed for almost 3 years after a layoff. We also wanted to give our kids a good Christmas now that I've had a steady job for a little over a year. When Larry showed my husband the first bill, my husband told him there was no way that we could afford to pay that amount. He explained to Larry what our family had been through and how we came close to losing our home and how we're still trying to catch up so Larry placed a call to his boss to see what he could do. He came back with a lower figure but my husband pleaded with Larry that we really still could not afford that. Once again, Larry went to his truck and placed another call to his boss. After a while, he came back and told my husband, "Merry Christmas" then showed my husband a new bill amount and it was such a great deal that we could not pass up - very, very affordable for us. My husband was in tears and couldn't thank Larry and Payless Water Heaters enough. They did a great job and had a heart in considering our plight and greatly reducing our bill so that we could enjoy our Christmas. So it goes without saying how highly we recommend anyone to use Payless Water Heaters, we are contacting our entire family, our co-workers and our neighbors to tell them about Payless and telling them to tell their friends to spread the word of how great this establishment is and that they're located in many other cities as well. read more

This is for Gonzo and Larry. These two guys were truly a blessing for me and my family. Our water heater blew one morning. My wife and son were at home and believe me they had no clue. When they called Payless the young lady who answered the phone talked my son through turning off the water. I was at work so I rushed home to sort through the mess. When i got there the tech was waiting for me. Nice and pleasant guy his name was Larry. These past 3 years have been a real struggle for us. When Larry looked at it we had our worst case scenario. The heater was a lost and had to be replaced. Now remember this has not been a smooth ride for us but we have been making it. Totally strapped for cash this is not what we need especially at this time of the year. What made it worse was in all the excitement I was supposed to call SCE and forgot. Now on top of the water heater being a lost we don't have any power. I know can it get any worse. Their price was fair but I just didn't have the money. I was a couple of days away from my pay cycle so unless so money falls from the sky we will be under candles and cold showers for a couple of days. I told Larry thanks but I was in a no win situation. I thought he left. Their was a knock at the door and it was Larry. He said his boss Gonzo wanted to speak with me.He really felt for my situation and gave me a price too good to be true. But remember power is out and I'm a couple of days away from being paid. I still can't do anything. Gonzo was great and he said he would honor his quote until i got paid. i told him thanks. I thanked Larry, again and closed the door. i heard another knock at the door. Guess who Larry again. He said his boss Gonzo wanted to speak with me again. I said hello and he said Merry Christmas. I have know clue what he'stalking about. He then said something that still has me in shock. He told me to let his tech Larry work and that this was his gift to me and my family. I asked him what did he mean because who would do something like that. He literally had me in tears and i didn't know what to say. Needless to say Larry did a perfect job and I'm still in shock. Gonzo you and Larry and the Payless Team are truly the Best. I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU GUYS. THANKS AGAIN........ read more

In April 2013, our old tank water heater was showing signs of age, so after researching our options, we decided to install a tankless water heater. After doing a lot of on-line research and getting multiple bids, we decided to go with Payless and a Noritz unit. The workmanship of the installer (Brandun) was of such a high quality that the city inspector actually said that it was one of the most "aesthetically flawless" installations he had ever seen. Based upon that experience, we naturally asked Payless to bid on doing a complete replacement of our HVAC system and all of the associated ductwork when we decided to do this in March 2014. The price we were quoted by Payless came in far under the price we were quoted by a company we learned about at our local Costco store. That company advertised that we would receive a $1000 Costco gift card with our purchase as well as the normal rebate that Costco gives its Executive Card holders. Even with those savings factored in, the price quoted by Payless was over 20% lower, and this for equipment with a much higher efficiency rating (the price Payless quoted included a 95% efficient gas furnace, whereas the higher price of the other company covered an 80% efficient unit). Of course we went with Payless, and once again our experience was excellent. The customer service manager (Ken) explained the pros and cons of all of the various equipment options when he first arrived to assess our home and prepare the bid, and helped us select an energy-efficient system from Trane. We made our decision to go with Payless on a Friday afternoon, and on Monday morning their crew (Jaime and Byron) arrived to start the job. Because they were only two, it took them three days to remove the old units and duct work and replace and calibrate the new equipment. But the weather was cooperative, and Jaime and Byron were both polite, professional, and courteous, and they answered all of my questions to my complete satisfaction. If you need a water heater or an HVAC system, be sure to have Payless bid on the job. Their prices are extremely competitive, and their staff is courteous and takes pride in their work. We are 100% satisified with all of our interactions with Payless. read more

I would highly recommended Payless water heaters to anyone. The service was top notch, honest and very professional. This company sure went out of their way to get me the right product, great price including the install. Last week, I bought a water tank and it never worked right from day one, so I called the company back out. Within 4 hours a tech came out. Changed out the thermostat and tested unit. It failed within an hour. I then called them out again on a Saturday night at 11:00p.m. after the gas company came out at 10:00p.m. to check my gas pressure and line. All found to be good since my house is brand new. The next day was Sunday, (Father's Day) Payless called me at 7:00a.m to come out to work on the unit. Matthew the service tech came out to do a full inspection. In 3 minutes of being at my house, he found one thing wrong which caused the water heater fail since the install. My exhaust vent in the roof was too small for the water heater size, therefore the exhaust gases where not releasing and actually going back into the tank causing it fail, gas leak and CO2 filled in garage. Matthew talked to me about a NORITZ tankless heater to avoid all these issues. He called his boss to work on the price. I was very pleased, I bought it on the spot. He them made some phones calls to get all the items that he needed. Josh, very nice man came to the house with the Tankless unit. Matthew is a very nice and knowledgeable tech. He sure knows he stuff. Before he did anything, he explained everything to me on how he will install the unit with the pipes and larger gas line. The install was flawless. I couldn't be happier. Looks like it was built with the house. It took 6+ hours to do the install. When he was done, he cleaned up after himself. Everything was straight and level. He didn't leave until, I was 100% satisfied. Matthew is also a very friendly guy to talk to. I learned a lot from him explaining to me about the unit and how to maintain it. I would rate him a 10 all the way. His work was very professionally done. I would definitely use him again to do more work. I am a customer for life and plan to use this company again to remodel my kitchen. They gave me an awesome price. read more

Part II of the Water Heater Saga... Roughly 24 hours after I had a part installed on my unreliable Whirlpool water heater (see 07/21/2015 review), I had the same error message that I had when this first started. This was not Payless' fault... just a sign that Whirlpool had misdiagnosed the problem, and that the part they sent did not fully correct the issue. I was tired of dealing with this hit or miss approach, and decided to cut my losses. I called Payless back and asked them to set up an appointment to install a new water heater. They were able to send someone out first thing the next morning. Chris arrived to do the installation, and did an excellent job. I am very happy with my new Bradford White water heater. While firing the new water heater up, Chris noticed that my kitchen faucet was on its last legs. He gave me some pointers on what type of faucet to buy, and said he could come back to install it, if and when I was ready. I went out that afternoon to get a new faucet and set up an appointment with Chris for the very next day. It is a huge relief to no longer have a faucet that sprays water around and leaks constantly. I truly feel that Chris went beyond the call in helping resolve the issue with my faucet. He took the time to look at a website for a home improvement store with me, and provided some input into not only buying a faucet that would fit my current setup, but also buying a quality brand that would last for many years. I know Payless specializes in water heaters, but I truly appreciated the help in getting my faucet replaced. I am grateful that Payless was able to set up appointments on such short notice... The water heater issue could have dragged on for days, but they were always able to get someone out that same day, or the first thing the next morning. Meanwhile, that place I referred to in my first review STILL hasn't called me back -- over a week later! Their loss is Payless' gain. Thank you again, Payless & Chris! read more

After my husband's 4am COLD shower, he declared the water heater had seen its final day. Water was streaming down the outside of the tank, into the pan and draining to the outside of the house. So, after a few hours of checking Yelp and the internet for prices and brands...I called A Payless. Like a past review, I had saved the big red card & attached it to the front of the WH, as it had a quick reminder to turn off the gas if it was leaking after an earthquake. I called a few other places to determine if we should replace it with a tankless WH or keep the type we had, and Payless explained the difference (aside from the price) so we opted for a 50 gallon tank to replace the huge 75 gallon gas WH we had. No one else that I called could come out and replace it on the same day. The serviceman was supposed to arrive between 2 and 4p, but there was some confusion in the office, so I called back around 4:15...then called again around 6p. I was getting concerned, but I had a back up plan for the next morning. When "Martin" showed up, he was quick to assess the situation, and really had to work to get that big tank out, rework the pipes to keep it set up the same complicated way it had originally been installed. He also suggested we fix the house water pressure valve, which we knew was faulty (too high). Considering that my hubby had to remove the door, frame, moulding, etc because the last owner had built the room around the water heater closet, it all worked out great. Martin had the tank, valves, copper piping and anything else he needed on his truck. All in all, we were extremely pleased with the job he did, the quality and warranty of the water heater and the price...and we had hot water by 9:30 that night! The old WH must have been crusty and inefficient ever since we moved in a couple of years ago. Since Payless replaced the WH, we've enjoyed hot showers galore, we still have plenty of water pressure, it's better regulated and the water is much softer! read more

If you WANT a GREAT EXPERIENCE - Call MATT R. Important - Matt RRRRRRRRR! Matt explained and made sure that the job was fully understood by my wife and me (I was remote). He was very professional in all his actions. What impressed me even more was his responsibility to not just take pictures of the completed project (water heater replacement) - he did what I consider "the over the top service" of a full cleanup of the area he worked in. He swept and wiped down the areas. He completely tested the system! Matt RRRRRRRRR's work was so perfect that when the job was done - you did not even know he was there, except for a brand new, proper and professionally installed water heater and all its fix'n. And yes, I will review the opportunity to buy a water treatment system from Matt RRRRRRRRR and Payless. Smart Management at Payless for securing Matt RRRRRRRR and his life long expertise as a true professional plumber. He created a higher standard in plumbing. Thanks to Payless and Matt RRRRRRR! I am also sending this note to Fidelity Home Warranty for having the confidence in Payless and Matt RRRRRRRRRRRR! Thanks again, Matt RRRRRRRRRRRRR! 11/8/2014. Mark S. As a side note: Matt RRRRRRRRR diagnosed another problem with my water system that had to be repaired by a different service person per the guidelines of my Fidelity Home Warranty Coverage . Matt RRRRRRRR diagnosed the problem correctly and I was disappointed that Payless/Matt RRRRRRRRR did not get the authorization to do the work. The second repair service that I had to secure because Payless was not an authorized servicer for this additional repair was very unprofessional between poor time management by the scheduler/owner, a messy service person who did not clean up after themselves and expected me to do it. A full report to Fidelity Home Warranty Company will be done recommending the other company not be part of their Professional Team of Servicing Companies. read more

This review is for the Anaheim area in Orange County. There was not a local office that I could post to. My experience was a good one. A 6 1/2 year old 75 gallon water heater died this morning. Out of warranty by 6 months (of course). I called for service at 11am and they were here before 2:30. I was able to stay at work since they called when they were 30 minutes away. That was appreciated. Matt and Elliott were on time, friendly, and knowledgeable. They verified the warranty situation (I confirmed independently). They inspected the heater and determined it was cracked. They also gave the details about what was needed to bring it to code. It was correctly installed originally, but the codes change. It all sounded legit and city permits are being pulled for an after installation inspection. I was initially bummed that the city was being involved, but I do appreciate the assurances that this will be done right. Then they gave me the bad news on the price. I asked them to hang out for 5 minutes while I thought about it. I called my regular plumber, who could not get here today, and he confirmed the price was in the ballpark. I then called the manufacturer and asked who their local installer was. I called the installer and their quote was $500 more that the quote from Payless. I don't like big surprises or big bills. It's an easier pill to take if the big bill is a fair deal. Add that to the fact that they were here and could get it done today and it was an easy decision. I'm glad that I didn't check Yelp first. My experience has not been consistent with some of the other Yelpers. It might be because this is an old-school water heater. It might be the installers (Matt and Elliott). I'm happy to give 5 stars and will refer. read more

Our Water Heater stopped working on Saturday Afternoon and I tried to get it repaired using your Home Warranty provider. First 2 attempts to get a response from a plumber via they Home Warranty company was unsuccessful so I called again and pushed to get this issue expedited. This is how we were put together with Payless Water Heaters and their customer service , communication and responsiveness was exemplary! They showed up same day on Sunday as per quoted time and had a technician here , Fernando C , who was well trained, Face Mask wearing , communicative and transparent . Turns out the Water Heater we had was a GE and they no longer make any of these units and they are difficult to repair due to lack of parts. After back and forth with Manager at Payless and Technician we decided to go with a Tankless System rather than waiting another 3 days to get a GE specialist to look at it and then waiting to get the heater replaced after .. I asked Payless to get me the best deal possible and after a few conversations we settled on a good deal to get a new Tankless Heater installed same day on a SUNDAY ! Let me be clear .. there is a big difference in price for Tankless but we believe this is the way for us to go particularly since Fernando also rightfully pointed out that SoCal GAs will give cash rebates on specific models for Water Heater replacement to Tankless. Given the circumstances that GE no longer exists basically in the Water Heater world and the hoops to jump through to get it repaired or replaced via Home Warranty , the decision to have Hot Water during this cold time in CA was easy to make together with Payless' proactive and professional approach. Thank you , very happy with this decision and job .. Again particularly on a SUNDAY ! read more

Can't say enough about the technician who came out - Jared. I highly recommend him. We had a water heater fail and called the Payless Water Heater company located in Valencia, because my wife's brother had used them before. Jared showed up on time, as promised. He was both competent and helpful. We had a decision to make, whether to got with a tank or go tankless (my wife was seriously considering tankless.) Jared laid out all the facts and answered all our questions. Ultimately, we decided to go with the old fashioned tank style, and he had one on board his truck, and immediately began the installation. It took about 3 - 4 hours altogether. Jared did a great job. The installation looked so much more professional than what we had previously had. I'm really pleased !!! Jared took down (and removed) the old tank, and installed the new one, with a few new things we didn't have - (a) collection pan underneath and (b) hook up drain to over-temp/over-pressure (safety) valve, with a drain to the outside, all in case the valve was actuated, the water would go outside and not ruin stuff in the garage (like most people, we store a lot of stuff in the garage.) He cleaned up after himself and left the premises in exactly the fashion you would want after the installation - no debris, no boxes, nothing. When he left, we closed the garage door and that was it - essentially a turn key installation. Also, for what its worth, Jared didn't take any breaks and worked right through a lunch hour. He arrived around 10:30 and worked until 2:30. He did such a good job, it made me think of the old Lone Ranger radio signoff - "Who was that masked man?" (yeah, I'm old - 85, I remember the old radio days). read more

Fast and Honest Service!!! Wow what a difference with this company. I called Payless Water Heaters on Saturday morning and was able to speak to someone who cared. I had a plumber at my door step within a few hours of calling. His name was Ricky, he came in my house after putting on white booties on his feet (so my floor wouldn't get dirty from his boots). He went through the house into the garage with his tools and within 30 Min's of running tests and checking out what the problem was he gave me & my husband (who is disable and unable to complete the repair himself) all of our options. Thank god the water heater was able to be repaired and not replaced. The price was less than $300.00. After the repair was completed he even took the time to show me how to "shut it down" if there is an emergency like an earthquake. He took his time with us and did a very clean job. Dealing with Payless Water Heaters was much better than dealing with the other company that I waited for over 4.5 hours on Friday. The company who came on Friday didn't even say sorry for being 2 hours late when he got there. He stormed in my house and looked at the water heater and without pulling out a signal tool he told me I needed to replace it for $1735.00 with 2 Min's of being in my garage, and could did it until Monday after he picks it up from the plumbing store. I'M so glad I had a bad experience with the first company because Payless Water Heater was hands down a much better company to use for my water heater. They are a great company. Everybody was friendly and very helpful. I give them 2 thumbs up. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who needs a water heater serviced or replaced. read more

My hot water heater broke in a big way, water leaking all over my garage and parts laying on the ground underneath it. I called Payless Water Heaters immediately. They were very courteous and came out promptly. In my experience, most servicemen are not very friendly, nor clean or even knowledgeable enough to really get to the bottom of what is going on and if I am to be honest, most just want to do the least amount of work for the most amount of money. However, I did not find Payless Water Heater personnel to be this way at all. In fact, two clean, nicely dressed and good mannered men arrived. They introduced themselves and were very nice and personable. They put covers over their shoes so as not to track dirt into the house and asked to go in through the garage so as not to intrude. They access the damage; thoroughly check out the water heater and its surroundings. They ask me several questions and then give me their findings which is that the water heater does need to be replaced. They will dispose of it for me at no charge and install the new one. They then did something even more amazing. They didn't just get to it; they actually observed the area and spotted a secondary leak. They helped access where it was coming from and gave me advice as well as people to call that could help me, should I choose to use them. They actually engaged my attention to the details of the job while maintaining complete professionalism. They were completely professional, amazingly courteous and I could actually feel their care for me and my well-being. Wouldn't you know it, people who cared about other people in this world! I highly recommend Payless Water Heaters. read more

As a Do-It-Yourself person, the job of replacing a leaking water heater was one best left to the pros, but you do you choose? I Googled water heaters and was most impressed with Payless Water Heaters site and so called for an appointment the next morning. Danny was timely, very knowledgeable about water heaters and honest about the costs especially the extra parts with their markups that drive the costs up a little bit. He was enthusiastic about his work and his company, emphasizing that they do professional work that includes the city permit. After agreeing to the price, Danny removed the old and left the new with me as the leakage had damaged the top of the platform and sheetrock so there was some prep work to do prior to their return the following day for the installation. The office called the next afternoon to confirm I was ready for the installer, Matthew, who arrived and performed the installation. He too, showed an excitement for who he works for and answered some final questions I had. He performed the job perfectly and reviewed all of the items he had replaced and updated. There was one little thing he did that expresses his concern for doing the job right and that was to add an extra elbow that allowed the gas flex line to be a nice arc with no sharp turns or stress on it...a small point but one worth mentioning. I am looking forward to many years of service from this Bradford-White water heater (10-12 years on the average) and am completely satisfied with the service of the Payless Water Heaters guys. Thanks...we are enjoying the hot water! Peter R. read more

We came home from being out of town to a cracked water heater and a full basin of water on a Friday night. When i tried to shut off the water to the water heater i discovered a broken valve and was forced to completely turn the water off to the house. Desperately at 7:30 am the next morning I made a call to Payless Water Heaters (not knowing what to expect). I was pleasantly surprised. The gentleman on the other end of the phone (Nathan) assured me he would have someone out by 9am. I was relieved but wasn't sure it would happen. True to Nathan's word, technician Jose P (#76860) arrived promptly. Jose was very courteous and professional and helped me assess my options. I was interested in a tankless water heater but was worried about the cost after reading about the disparity in pricing from different plumbing companies. Jose inspected the utility closet and informed me that it was an option. He let me know that the Noritz EZTR40 was a good solution based on the size of the present gas line, the venting in the utility closet, and our overall water usage. I felt very comfortable with his recommendations and was very happy with the overall cost. He spent about 5 hours installing the unit, which included rerouting gas and water lines and venting. After the installation (which was precise and clean) he spent time with us to answer any questions we had about the unit. I would recommend Payless Water Heaters and Jose P to anyone who is interested in the replacement of their water heater. Jose did a fantastic job and we love our tankless water heater! read more

It is always difficult when your water heater goes out, but the first company I call was Payless, and after about a day trying to get a better deal I called back Payless to come to the job. Know of course they can not give you an exact price without seeing it. Since my water heater survived for a little over 16 years things did change regarding equipment and codes, and I understand and Mathew explained everything to me. I first was not happy with the price, but with the great Mathew and the terrific management staff we came to a price that would work for us both. So fantastic customers service and fantastic service personnel that installed my heater. It was a installation pain. I thought I would have to take down a self made cabinet (not the best) but the crew did there best and were successful not to damage the cabinet at all. The only damage was a little scratch on the water heater sticker. (Ha Ha I told Mathew I was going to tease about that.) I feel good about the everything with this company. I do not have the feeling that you usually get after you feel taken advantage of. Hell I would even say the whole experience was fun. I was teasing them that most reviews said in and out in about an hour, well mine took about two hours and I feel that the extra time in building a great customer base and taking the time to get it right was well worth the extra time. I just felt bad for the workers, I hope that they did not lose money in the deal. Would use and recommend this company again without any hesitation. read more

I called Payless Water Heaters to provide an estimate to replace my "dead" standard 50 gallon gas water heater. The representative arrived that same afternoon and discussed the old tank replacement as well as tankless water heater options to consider. After lots of great discussion and review of technical info, my wife and I decided to pursue the tankless water heater option and provided the required down payment for the job. We scheduled the job a couple of days later (for 7/7/2020). The July 7th, the technician, Jared, showed up in the early morning as planned (with mask on, too). Jared was professional, courteous, and politely and thoroughly answered various questions I had during the installation process. He worked diligently approximately nine hours or so to remove the old tank and enclosure/vent structure and then install our new, sleek tankless water heater system in the same outside location. From my perspective, Jared did a great job and it was so nice to have hot water (on demand) in our house again. Thanks very much Jared and the entire Payless Water Heaters team for a job very well done! The Payless reps also provided me the appropriate information and pointed me to the website to file a rebate request with SoCal Gas due to the energy-efficiency Tankless water heater installation. I successfully filed my rebate request and received a check from SoCal Gas a couple of weeks later. That certainly helped offset the Tankless system costs. read more

I did a little homework on the cost of water heater replacement including total installed cost. Payless was my last stop because I knew if their price was right, they could provide the installation immediately since they specialize in water heaters and have everything needed on their truck! The call process was very good including scheduling a technician the same day. They provided an email and text message that the technician was on the way including his name, Danny C. Technician Danny C. showed up exactly on time with a professional appearance and great personality. Danny looked at my requirement and provided a quote including all the components/ hardware that should be replaced, i.e., valves, hoses, etc. If you are a Senior and or plan to pay by check and have any recent quotes you should share them to see if the price can be negotiated (good to ask any service company). Some companies are not flexible but good to ask. We settled on a fair price and the installation started right away. Danny was highly professional on removing the old water heater and installation of the new unit. Throughout the process it seemed like Danny was very passionate in providing a clean installation of the quality he would do for his own home! I was very satisfied in the whole process. Shortly after completion I received an e-mail copy of the final invoice and also received a follow up call to measure customer satisfaction. For me Payless was a good experience! read more

On July 31, I called Payless Water Heaters to come and repair my hot water tank, which had stopped producing any hot water. They sent Larry, in less time than they had said they COULD. He was most pleasant and reassuring from the very start. Asked where the gas switch was; and when he examined it, he quickly analyzed the problem as "somehow the earth quake button had been pressed, and the gas supply was automatically turned off, as it should have." Larry rotated the mechanism on the box and said it was repaired completely! I was relieved, and impressed!!! He then told me that any bump would have the same result, and proceeded to show us how to do it ourselves, if it ever occurred again. He also reminded me that he COULD HAVE TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW, EXPENSIVE WATER TANK.....and I wouldn't have known the difference; but his honesty prevented that. Whew! I was now a confirmed fan and customer of the Payless Company for life. I would recommend their service to anyone in need of help in what can be a very dangerous situation. My house man, George said he had once turned a wrong knob on the water tank at his job, and the whole thing blew up, causing tremendous damage!!! I must also say the Mathew and all the workers at the office were especially helpful, cordial, and polite....which is all too rare in these times. Thanks to all of you, and continued success....you deserve it. Sincerely, Carol Lawrence read more
