What a fantastic experience with On Call Water Heaters! On Thanksgiving our water heater stopped working. That evening I used the Yelp feature that sends out inquiries to a bunch of companies. I initially booked with another company just because they responded immediately and were available at 9am the next day. Big mistake. That company charged $120 just to come look at the water heater and say it needed to be replaced. The person who came out was all over the place with pricing and eventually settled on an insane amount for a replacement of a tank water heater. In comes Natalia to save the day. She quoted a great price and said it could be changed out same day. Ignacio was who came for the replacement and he was fabulous. He did a great job and was a lovely person too. What a great company. This is only a review for getting an estimate. The company does a bait and switch and I believe a lot of the reviews here are false. I don't typically review but don't want someone else to be scammed. I submitted a project through Yelp, specifying our water heater model and error code we were getting. Natalia responded with a $99 flat rate estimate to clear the error code plus a flush service. I called her to get more details, and she was a little confusing and noncommittal but I figured since this is what she wrote, it was fine. She said someone could be there by 9 am. When they were already on their way, she messaged me that they would do a flush for $275 plus diagnostic fees, and a replacement would be $3700-4000 (none of which she said when I talked to her on the phone). I told her we wanted to cancel and she said sorry he's already on the way and she can't reach him. We refused service when he arrived, but it was all in all a very negative experience using misleading bait and switch tactics. read more

Had a very good experience replacing my water heater. I would use them again for any water heater issue in the future. 1. Responded within minutes and got same day service. 2. Good communication - didn't feel like I was being pressured into anything. Natalia was very friendly and helpful and answered my many questions and got me what I needed. Gave me updates on when the driver was going to arrive and was easy to get a hold of during the entire process. 3. I felt the pricing was fair/good. Another place quoted me a much higher price to replace my water heater. 4. Service by technician was good. On time, friendly, hard working, easy to work with, and even used a broom to clean up the water heater closet which had accumulated a lot of leaves/dirt/debris. The job was done well and everything was pretty quick - less than the two hour estimate. 5. We own a rental property and the new tenants had the gas company come out to inspect the forced air heat. while they were there SCE also inspected the water heater. The tenants water heater was working fine before SCE but some how SCE saw a spark when they opened the water heater and turned off the water heater - red tagged it. Thankfully, we called On Call, Natalia sent a technician to replace the water heater and the tenants did not have to go without hot water. ON CALL to the rescue. I had another problem with another water heater not working. At first, I looked at the blinking red lights, which showed the problem that I needed to fix. Going through the guidebook, I see what type of problem to fix. I called around different plumbing companies but found that On Call Water Heaters had the part that I needed to fix the water heater. They were pretty fast to install the part on the water heater, and it worked for a couple of days. Then, the water heater stopped working again. So I called Natalia from On Call Water Heaters about the problem. It seemed my best solution was to replace the old water heater with a new one. So, Natalia used some of the money that I paid for the fixed part as a deductible to pay and install the new water heater. Just as the plumber was gonna get ready to install a new water heater, he noticed that gallon size was wrong. I needed a 30-gallon size instead of a 40-gallon size. So, it added some extra time to get this water heater problem resolved by exchanging the 40-gallon size one for a 30-gallon size one. By the time the plumber got the new 30-gallon water heater, he went to work, taking out the old one and replacing it with the new one, which was pretty fast. After installing the new water heater, I felt better since hot water was back and cold showers in the winter were going gone. read more

Stay Away from this business!! This review is for a replacement install of our old tankless water heater and the subsequent experience we had a few months later when the brand new one they installed broke and their complete lack of managing the situation. In short...the company completed fraudulent work, installed a unit not meant for the exterior of our home (unit installed did not match the invoice provided), and it was not installed per manufacturer's specifications and it was not up to code, resulting in the possibility of damage, fire or other issues to our home and family. Because of OnCall Water Heaters and Natalia's horrendous customer service, we were without any hot water for more than 5 days as a family of 5 with young infants in the middle of January. They had many opportunities to do the right thing and never followed through. Ultimately, I disputed the charge through my credit card company and they reversed the charge for me, had they not I would have been taking them to small claims court. Here's more info: -the invoice for the initial install (replacement of our 20yr old tankless H2O heater) did not match the product they installed in August 2023. -H2O heater broke in January of 2024, called them and they came out to look at it, could not repair that day and called a rep from the manufacturer - AOSmith, who came out to take a look. -The rep's initial reaction was "This is installed completely wrong, they installed a water line for half of the gas line with a connector that was corroding after only 3.5mo; the unit they installed was meant for the interior of the home (as evidenced by the serial #), and they connected it to an old existing exhaust duct (as that would be needed inside the home and the unit has large hole on top of it to accomodate), but the hole and the duct work were different diameters so it has been acting as a funnel for rain water and other elements to enter the unit. I have rarely seen work this terrible and incorrect." The rep was also told to "not tell the homeowner anything", and to his credit, he did inform us as he would want someone to do the same for him if it was his home. -I immediately called Natalia (at OnCall) and she indicated that they would fix it, and ultimately replace the unit for one that was meant for the exterior of the home. -A week of back and forth ("we'll come back out to fix it; we'll have the rep from AOSmith fix the exiesting unit so you have hot water and then in two weeks we'll replace the unit; My dad will come and take a look, he is the best; the rep's estimate is too high, he is price-gouging you and we won't pay him"). -And when I expressed frustration after 5 days of no-hot water and no resolution in sight, and began indicating that I wanted a refund if they were not going to fix the situation immediately, then Natalia started making excuse after excuse, "her son was in a accident and he may have killed someone; we have a lot going on". I can have compassion as a human being for another and still ask for accountability of the company to make right a situation that they created in the first place. Natalia seemed to consider offering a refund if I agreed to not write a negative review, however I said that if I were given a refund, my review would be factual and include that the company ultimately did something to make it right, but that I felt that other future customers had the right to hear my experience overall. Ultimately, Friday afternoon, I called another company to inquire about the cost of installing a replacement as I was getting nowhere with OnCall. When I sent pictures of the installation to the new company, they echoed exactly what the rep had said regarding the horrendous, fraudulent work, noted safety concerns and gave me the same pricing on a repair that the rep had. In essence, getting two second opinions that matched. The new company was able to come out the following morning and remove the broken unit, install a new one of high quality and he had hot water within 14 hours of calling them. Natalia texted that same morning a very long ranting that was trying to cover her tracks - too little too late. I submitted a heap of evidence to my credit card company (timeline, all text message exchanges, photos, etc.) in support of my claim that I should not have to pay OnCall for their shotty and fraudulent work. What an awful experience that truly took up WAAAYYYYY too much of my time. read more
