Jerry is fantastic! We have used him for regular pruning and emergency work. During regular pruning, he recommended that we remove a branch that extended way over our house. I honestly had not even noticed it, but he could spot weakness in the branch and a risk of it falling on the roof. So glad we had that removed before the recent storms! That was a great catch! We recently lost a large branch due to splitting. It fortunately fell across the driveway and not across the house! Jerry came by to chat and described all of the steps in detail. After years of neglect, I called Jerry to get an estimate for a front & back yard clean up. Being that he was in my neighborhood, I was able to meet him in just a couple of hours. Jerry was on time and friendly from the start. Even tried to recruit my son to play football for his team. :). Jerry had a very similar vision to mine, so it was not difficult to communicate my requests to him. His rate was not the cheapest quote I received, however, his company is insured, I could communicate with him perfectly, and he was able to bring 3 other men out do help get the work done. I had over growing shrubs, trees to be trimmed, and lots of ivy & weed to be pulled. His quote also included hauling away all the trimmings. I was able to schedule the work to be done for that very same week of getting a quote. Jerry & team arrived 15 min. ahead of schedule and went straight to work after greeting my husband and getting the power tools plugged in. Along the way, any major concerns were addressed with me to make sure I was the one making the final decisions. There was great communication through out and any of my requests for redo was also done. Since the team was ahead of schedule, Jerry even offered to do what was not originally put on the order. I called Jerry based on the Yelp reviews two weeks ago to get a quote on removing a dead birch tree and trimming three other trees (Chinese Elm, Japanese Maple, and Ficus). I had a dead Ash tree removed earlier this year by another contractor and the price I paid for that one removal was half of what I paid for all the services Jerry and his crew provided for me. Any homeowner's biggest nightmare is having your tree butchered so that you feel that you're getting a lot for what you paid for. We planted a little crepe myrtle tree 9 years ago and it had never been pruned. I hired them to trim a tree in my backyard. While trimming a large branch, they cut a large part of it in one go and let the entire branch fall on the plants below. I was planning to remove those plants anyway, but they never asked me if this was ok. They could have cut smaller chunks and not damage the trees below. I did not raise this problem with them and decided to let it go. I further saw that there were a lot of wood chippings from the branches that were still lying in the backyard. They blew them to one side, but did not pick them up. I decided to let that go as well. But then later in the evening I saw that they left some of the tree leaves and small branches in my yard waste bin. The contract explicitly stated that it included hauling all the debris. I have no idea why they would seem it was appropriate to put some of the debris in my own bin. I emailed them about this, and no reply. I expected better from a licensed tree removal service. read more
