I reeeeeally wanted to like this place and after many attempts to eat here (and finding them closed), I FINALLY discovered them open during the Downtown Christmas Preview. I was beyond excited to try the spicy katsu chicken sando (I literally attempted eating here for 2 months but kept missing their open hours. They are VERY limited). The pricing I was charged was a bit more than what was on their menu, which I hadn't noticed until after the fact. :-/ When the sandwich arrived it was not at all what expected. I looked up the sandwich months ago and it appeared to be a juicy chicken breast between sliced cabbage on thick, fluffy bread. What I got was some beat up, flattened GREEEEEEASY gummy chicken that wasn't the least bit appetizing. It reminded me of frog legs and I was pretty much grossed out after the 2nd bite. The bread was exactly the same as Astesano Bakery Bread and didn't seem "home made" as their menu states. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't (home made) but it sure seemed like the same bread I buy at Safeway. Needless to say I was BEYOND bummed out. I guess that's partially my fault though, I mean... I saw a picture they used to have posted on their menu (it's no longer there) and had expectations that it was going to be exactly the same, which it most certainly was NOT. If I could sum it up in 2 words: Gummy & Greasy. Yuck. The best part was the cabbage so, that's what I ate and ditched the rest of the "sandwich" to the trash. So yeah, $13 + tip for some cabbage. Awesome. With that said, I don't recommend this place for the Sando's but! I may return for the egg rolls. They look good in the pictures however since I got 100% duped this time around, I think I'll ask if anybody I personally know has tried the egg rolls first before I spend any more money here. I do like their outdoor dining and if they could move the ginormous trash bins away from the outside dining tables it would be a great place to dine (who wants to eat next to trash cans??) I'll end on a positive note and say, I did like that they have an option of indoor or outdoor dining, if they move the trash cans, that would be my preferred place to eat. read more

Such a lovely and unique spot that adds to the fun of downtown Chico. I just poked my head in to check it out today and was totally charmed - it's not Japanese, but the menu items, instant ramen bar and awesome selection of Asian soft drinks and canned cocktails remind me of the convenience stores in Japan that I miss so much. Today I just tried the Hmong sausage and Thai tea. The lady working was sweet and let me sample the tea to test its sweetness. I think it's spot-on. The sausage is perfectly juicy, spicy and savory. It's rich, flavorful, and reminds me of the holidays. read more

My husband and I went to Chico for business. During our trip, we stopped by many restaurants and PB & Jimmy's is one of the restaurants that I stopped by to grab a bite. I bought a dozen eggrolls which my hub and his friend devoured like the Cookies Monster from Sesame Street. LOL! The eggrolls were full of flavors and nice n' crispy. Unlike most eggrolls from other spots, there were actually fillings, and the fillings are authentic ingredients like the ones my Asian mom would make. I also got the papaya salad with bomb house fried pork rind and the strawberry cream dessert. The dessert was so good, light and airy with smooth cream center. I almost forgot to take a picture! I stop by here to try the pastry which they didn't have. I came by around. 11:45am, very quiet and dead. After that five more customers came in for probably lunch rush. I order the chicken egg-roll very salty and the papaya was not crunchy but tastes old. The heavy set gentlemen may have hard time hearing because I remember I let him know I didn't want boba no toppings but charged me for both drinks and I didn't get the strawberry sandwich I requested. He ask me many times what I wanted and I couldn't hear him because their music was bit loud and distracting. read more

I went to the farmers market and was looking for a nice quiet place to enjoy lunch, something diff than burgers or tacos, well this place hit the spot, the flavors of the food were amazing and the atmosphere was welcoming, it is a family run business, I felt very welcome, if you are looking to try something new give these folks a a shot, the chicken along w the sauce that comes w it was full of flavor!! Finally I tasted the goodness of PB & Jimmy's in Downtown chico! The hours is a hit miss 11-2 Wed-Saturday so if you miss it sorry‍. So in Hawaii they have manapua and I saw this ad of this place but it's baked kine manapua made from Japanese milk bread! Met the owners very nice ppl customer service and food quality is a plus for this helper. It was literally 10:59am and I'm calling the guy guided me and at 11:10 I'm eating. I had the baked pork bun and a rolled hotdog with a green tea hawaiian sun (Yum). I'm glad I finally made it to try this place out I do recommend this restaurant if your just wanting a quick bite fresh making to your order if your in Chico. Sometimes when I'm missing home I come here, which can be quite often. I was born in Southeast Vietnam and moved to the states when I was a little over 6 years old. The food is impeccable and reminds me of my late dad's cooking. The green sauce provided with the pork belly is something my sisters could definitely make! I come to PB&Jimmys because of the quality of food and service I receive !! it's amazing to me that there is finally a south East Asian restaurant in Chico! I've been here for the past 5/6 years and I was planning on moving back home after I graduate from Chico state but now I'm not so sure because I absolutely love this place. Could be a bit better organized, but the food is good. I was the only customer when I came in at 12:30 for take out, took 15mins for the lady to put together a strawberry cream sando. My rice and pork belly was sitting on the counter for 10 minutes by the time I got the sando. Also was told the lady didn't make any chicken today, so I didn't get to try the chicken and rice. Speaking from experience, it's an obvious point to be prepared for lunch rush. Food is five stars, service is three stars. read more

Went in during the posted hours and had no issues. I ordered the chicken katsu sandwich and my husband got egg rolls. Both were amazing! He ended up stealing some of my sandwich because it was so good. Perfect combo of flavors and spice. One of the best chicken sandwiches I've had. Excited to go back for more! read more

Spicy sando was wonderfully flavored and actually perfectly spiced, perfectly crispy (not soggy even after the trip home). Got the fruit Sando one as well, and the whipped cream in it was perfect and not overly sweet. Also tried the guava tea (which was freshly made and probably not ready, but they were kind and threw some ice in it for me). I will be ordering it all again and maybe trying their other options. 10/10 for a lunch spot. The interior itself was well decorated and looked like a great spot to hang out (I got mine to go). Wait time wasn't bad at all either, maybe 5 minutes of waiting for food to be ready. Oh I got some egg rolls too. Lots of glass noodles in it (could be wrong). Trying to eat here has been a struggle. I have tried, for three consecutive weeks, to eat at this restaurant at 11:30 AM on a Saturday, half an hour after opening. One of these times, there was a sign saying they were closed for the day. The other two times, they were shuttered with no notice of closure. I am sure the food is great, but I have made a legitimate effort for weeks to go to the restaurant and have constantly found it closed and inaccessible without reason or explanation. The sister chain Aonami has similar inaccuracies, albeit less pronounced. The food here could be great, and probably is (as Aonami's was), but do not expect them to be open the first time you try and go there. read more

One of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten, we got the pork and a chicken katsu sando and it was the crunchiest most tender sandwich. The bread was soft and lightly sweet. Great customer service as well. We sat outside and enjoyed the patio. read more
